Not my first time here. Went a again because I wanted to make the kids happy and get ice cream dipped in chocolate. What I get is ice cream with a partial almost invisible thin layer of chocolate. You could barely see the chocolate. How do you serve this in my hand and say that this is chocolate dipped? Why not say that you ran out of it? Paid 18 for 2 kiddies and one small. That's how much you pay in other places and you get a thick layer of chocolate and the ice cream is creamy and not watery like there. My bad . You drive 10 mins , pay for a tip (ridiculous to ask for it but anyway) and not even get what you ordered? I am not happy leaving bad reviews for businesses but come on, why do you charge for dipped chocolate when you don't have it and pretend it's there? Ridiculous

This is a tiny place in the side of an auto shop. It's easy to miss if you aren't paying attention but trust me, you don't want to miss it. They have a fairly extensive menu but it's all based around soft serve. It's made in house as I understand it and is made with real cream. One try and you'll know the difference. This is far superior to the soft serve you'd get at McDonald's or even Dairy Queen. They have a ton of flavour shot options and other ways you can get it served and everything I've had from here has always been great. And it's reasonably priced to boot. If you're in Kanata, you have to try this place. If you aren't, I honestly think it's worth the drive.

This tiny ice cream stand makes soft serve treats and slushies. Flavors include vanilla, chocolate, and a swirl of both. It doesn't offer as extensive a menu as a big outlet Dairy Queen would, but this one window stand still has a lot to offer for its size: standard things like milk shakes, dipped cones, standard toppings and come types, and even a new colourful fruit flavor swirl option. Only open in the summertime this joint is always busy. The wait times are usually minimal though. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it offers quality treats at reasonable prices. It's a neighborhood fixture that I hope will continue to thrive.

A local favourite! My family’s go to for amazing soft serve ice cream. Bretts just knows how to do it. Their soft serve is so delicious. I always go for the twist to get best of both worlds. It isn’t overly sweet, just the right amount. It’s nice and icy as well with the perfect amount of creaminess to it without being moussey. They also have the option to add flavour bursts (vanilla base only) for $1. Variety of flavours to choose from. My boyfriend really enjoys them and goes for the berry flavours. Slushes and razzles (like a blizzard) also available on the menu! Reasonably priced for the amount you get too.

Little gem in Beaverbrook but it's pricey so I think of it as a once in a while place. Staffing is mainly young kids so somewhat variable service and variable serving size despite the premium price. Tastes great and has a big enough menu to please everyone. Note that they do sell specially coffees. Hours change based on period of the summer - it does close for the winter. All outdoor seating. There is a bathroom but I think it's not open due to covid. There's not many ice cream shops around so enjoy! This is a popular place so it's a toss up whether you're able to walk right up or if you have to wait a while.

Just like the old fashioned malt shop! Thick, rich dairy treats! Soft ice cream you can top with flavours (Strawberry, Banana, and many others), and you can dip that in chocolate or butterscotch!(using a lot of exclamation marks, but it's worth it!). Thick chocolate milk shakes (also vanilla and strawberry). Sundaes, and other treats. Not for the faint of heart, true dairy lovers, and no diets, just pure enjoyment. Do yourself a favor and drop in, glad we did. Cheers, Jay

Worst ice cream place in the city. Where to begin? First of all the ice cream was completely melted as it was handed to me. I've never been handed ice cream that immediately drips on every side the moment it's handed to me. The dip was horrible too, tasted like fat/lard, had absolutely no flavor to it. I threw more than 3 quarters of the ice cream. It was non edible. No wonder the prices are good at this location, it's not even real ice cream.

  • Nick Borcic

Lots of variety to choose from on their big menu. They have soft serve ice cream and add toppings, as desired. They make something called a Razzle that is fantastic, and they come in different flavors (Kit Kat, Oreo, Aero Mint, etc). Portions are big, prices are fair, and you're helping a local business. It's nice to walk around the area afterwards and get some exercise after all of that ice cream!

Very nice place to grab a quick ice cream, the soft serve and milkshakes are pretty good!

Brett’s is an amazing little hole in the wall shop. It’s often a hangout/after game stop for the local kids. The ice cream is pretty good, but be aware that it’s all self-serve ice cream. I would highly recommend the slushie floats (a slushie with a dollop of ice cream) and Razzles (ice cream with some sort of chocolate or candy bar mixed in, the Reece’s Pieces one is very good).

  • Sam Park

The ONLY place to get soft serve in Ottawa. I highly recommend the flavour burst soft serve, which pipes 1 or 2 flavours of your choice along the side of your deliciously tasting soft serve. This place is also great because Brett is a gentleman who provides quick and accurate service. Always recommend this ice cream shop and regularly make the drive from downtown Ottawa.

  • Caroline Chehade

I tried the cotton candy dip and cookies and cream dip, they were both excellent. The vanilla ice cream is good and the peach swirl is not bad too. I suggest you take them in a cup in the summer because it melts very fast. They have cute colored picnic tables for families. Bikes and skateboards are not allowed on premises. I’ll definitely be coming back for their dips!

  • PCJF

It's a hole in the wall, literally. But it's a good hole in the wall! Kids enjoy coming here and it's great to have a neighborhood place. The ice cream is good. Had a hot fudge sundae and they give a good amount of hot fudge. Love that last bit of fudge when you run out of ice cream. Feels like you will have a sugar overdose lol!

  • Jimmy Li

Great place, love being able to support local businesses and they have a huge selection now, including coffees and cappacinos. There only seems to be one at most 2 staff and it's standing line outside only, so it can be a bit of a wait, great place to make a pit stop on a bike ride. The seating wasn't set up yet when I went.

  • Braden Davidson

Most iconic place to get ice cream in Kanata. I would highly recommend, however the place to eat the ice cream could be a lot better.

Great little ice cream shop we like to go to in the summer! The ice cream is always great and service very fast for a one man show! Although he seems to always run out of the butterscotch dip, we always find something tasty to eat on a nice day in the summer! Can’t wait to come back next year!

  • Ritu Sikka

This is not ice cream. It’s that soft chemically stuff that comes out of the same nozzle no matter what flavour you order (they just add a swirl of fake liquid flavour). If you grew up on Dairy Queen, this might be a five star, but if you’re expecting real ice cream, not so much

  • Jessica R.

Their soft serve is amazing! I can't believe I didn't find their place before. I'm not a big fan of ice cream (store bought usually) however it's almost like having a frozen yogurt. Their black cherry razzle is also really great tasting! Thank you for the dessert experience!

  • Sam F

I adore Brett's ice cream and I usually get the black cherry flavour burst, but decided to try something different and ordered the affogato with chocolate sprinkles. It was amazing! If you love coffee and ice cream, I highly recommend you try it. It's a real treat!

  • Shari Kia

I chose to come here with my friend based on the review just to realize it’s so over rated! Very average ice cream with some extremely dirty benches on the site that ruin all your appetite ! Unless they work on their hygiene and quality I won’t recommend this place

  • hannah nelles

The ice cream is good however I found this place to be a bit overrated. One of my friends ordered an Oreo razzle and when they got their ice cream it was a soup consistency and was dripping out of the cup. I would recommend getting a milkshake or a standard cone.

  • Daria P

The service and the atmosphere were both great, but unfortunately my friend and I did not enjoy our soft serve ice cream. We came to check it out because of the amount of positive reviews, but we agreed that the IKEA or DQ soft serve is more flavourful.

  • Travelot

The ice cream here, served from a window, is not better than one sold at Burger King, and it is also more expensive. There are no tables or any other option to sit. The only positive thing I could think of about this place is that they have a washroom.

  • Andrew Thompson

This place is such an awesome little soft serve ice cream stop. My only critique is this place was closed last year for a few months, and I could not find any information on what was going on late summer. There was nothing on Facebook, or

  • Elina Iordanidi

Ordered an iced latte or iced coffee and was given a lukewarm coffee in a paper cup. I tried to ask for an actual iced coffee and the young man working there told me that was as cold as he could get it. I did get a refund back right away.

  • Rabiyah Mirza

The ice cream is excellent but the young woman at the counter was extremmmmely rude to a couple of young kids who were trying to pick what they wanted from the extensive menu. She was so rude that it made ME uncomfortable. She constantly

  • Kirsten McDowell

Take-out (only) soft serve with picnic tables and bike racks. First time trying the flavour burst which was excellent. (Mint with chocolate sauce). The plain chocolate cone was a very generous serving and made my traditionalist very happy

  • Sonya X

Great experience, tax is already included in the pricing, so thats a nice addition. Wonderful customer service, I personally really enjoy their oreo razzles. Ice cream scoops and sizes are also quite large, so definitely worth the price!

  • Jeffrey Tobin

Good soft serve ice cream with generous portions. Also have sundaes, slushies, milkshakes and topping options for the ice cream. Walk-up window with outdoor picnic table seating. Friendly staff usually has short wait time (5-10 minutes)

  • Steve McGlade

Went for our first time after getting a Google recommendations, absolutely delicious I got the Swirl with cotton candy and bubble gum while my spouse got Vanilla strawberry and we will definitely be going back. Great prices as well

  • Kelly Ann Charleson

Lovely little spot for an ice cream outing! Coffee drinks for the adults, and delicious ice cream - with so many options - for all! The picnic tables are a lovely touch, makes it feel more like an experience that just a treat.

  • Priyanka Sharma

A small gem in the Kanata area for soft serve ice cream, shakes and coffee. Wonder why i didn't find it sooner. Alot of flavors to try. Very reasonably priced. Staff is so polite and friendly. Would visit them again and again.

  • Joe Smit

I really enjoyed it! Tons of options to chose from. Opted for a frazzle which is similar to a blizzard from dairy queen. You can add two flavours even in a small! I find the regular too big but to each their own! Enjoy!

  • Remi Hayes

Went to Brett's Ice Cream for the first time yesterday, and boy have I been missing out! The service was quick and friendly, the prices are great, and their ice cream is fantastic. Will definitely be returning often!

  • Ron Armstrong

Convenient spot for the area on a hot day. Long line-up during the day on weekends with only one employee. Evenings are better but they close at 8:00pm. A little pricy for the size you get but a good experience.

  • Canadian Travel Review

Local hole in the wall that serves good soft ice cream and has done well because it is fresh and local. Local boy founded the business. Families in Kanata often go here to hang out and have some ice cream.

  • Jane Doe

Quick and friendly staff. Quite a few options. Milkshakes and slushies are great, ice creams are delicious. Usually there when there's a line but it moves fast. Reasonable prices for the portion sizes

  • Tavvy

Absolutely amazing small ice cream shop that serves high quality soft serve - with flavour bursts! We make the drive from downtown Ottawa any time we want soft serve because it’s well worth the drive

  • Michael chang

service is very quick so you can quickly get something. Everything tastes good too considering that there are many options on the menu. If you are passing by you should definitely get something.

  • moshi yazee

they are basically selling McDonald soft with some syrup on top and pricing the $5.08 after tax for a Medium ... whereas McD would cost $1.50 after tax .... over hyped and over priced ...

  • canadastani

Hidden gem in Kanata. Great softserve with a huge array of options. The service is incredible. I watched the heroes behind the counter tonight take and serve a 12 item order flawlessly.

  • Marcela Rozee

It's soft serve ice cream. The "flavour burst" options add some colour and a hint of flavour. Not worth it. Best stick to one of the original flavours. Good, friendly, and fast service.

  • Momin Janjua

I spent last summer going around trying to find the best soft serve Ice Cream. I think La Dipérie is still better but Brett's is a close second! If it was closer, I'd go here every day.

  • Alexandra

Tried the mango and blueberry soft cream: really good and the size was great. Fast service and great area for parking. Only thing: the sign is quite small and couldn’t find it easily.

  • Amelia Van Brabant

I love Brett's! I went every day in it's opening week, and didn't burn a hole in my wallet. Tasty ice cream, with very generous portions. Great environment, and best of all, no tax!

  • Steve Lett

Soft Ice cream with flavour burst of Black Cherry was delicious. Waffle cone is also an option. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend. Will try a milkshake next time :)

  • Yasir H.

Delicious ice cream in a very unique spot. The flavors are varied and very good and the service is nice and courteous. There are a couple of benches and water fountain nearby.

  • Derek Oleynik

For those wondering, a "Razzle" is basically DQ Blizzard or McFlurry. A "Flavor Burst" is the flavor additive that leaves the swirl in with the swirled ice cream on a cone.

  • mikayla smith

Cute little place, soooo many options! Good place to stop for a treat if you’re in the area. Can get quite busy and there was only one lady working, so expect a little wait.

  • Jay

A little hidden gem of great soft serve ice cream! I recently discovered this place and I adore it! The flavour bursts are also a really nice addition to their selections!

  • Andrew Thorp

Fast, friendly, and delicious - what more can you ask for? He now has Dairy - Free Ice Cream too! 2023 Update: prices have gone up a bit but Brett's is still great value!

  • Benjamin L

Really good . Totally recommended. Better than the typical ‘too sweet flavourless’ thing that most other places serve. I really like the double espresso chocolate shake.

  • Rock

Amazing soft serve ice cream! The "flavour boost" or whatever its called was a very nice addition to the cone. Actually one of the last places where prices are decent.

  • Christine Brown

So nice to have this independent ice cream shop in Kanata. The selection is incredible and the ice cream quality is second to none. It's a summer go-to for my family!

  • Roberto Bagnato

One of my favourite places to go for ice cream in Ottawa. The best soft serve in the city. Staff is always super friendly with quick service. Very reasonably priced!

  • Lenni luvsBrian

I expected something a little different, but the staff was friendly and my ice cream delicious! Little tricky to Lopate it though, if you don't know the area well.

  • Jenn Brownrigg

We've enjoyed our stops here. Very yummy. Only issue we have is no fault of the store- but soft serve melts so so fast in the heat, I'd recommend a bowl vs cone.

  • Stavya Kashyap

Cute little shop with creamy soft serve with double burst. Black Cherry, Pina Colada, Cotton Candy, Mango and many more flavors, could be mixed with vanilla ..

  • Mike Tomkins

Great softserv ice cream with lots of flavour options. Their take on blizzards seemed very good. My oreo "blizzard", I think they call it a razzle, was great.

  • Krista Bugden

Really yummy! We had initially thought it was more than soft serve but it's not. BUT the razzle Reese's pieces was really good and hit the spot!

  • Ardin Chrysantana

Great shakes! They have a large selection in this little gem of a place. Fast and super friendly service. We're so happy we found this place.

  • Kev

Neighborhood classic. Solid soft serve ice cream. Reasonably priced with good portions ($3.25 for a medium = 5 swirls on top of cone)

  • Jeremy Tremblay

Brett's has the best ice cream in town. They get their dairy from Bruhm's dairy in Pembroke and their softserve ice cream is amazing.

  • Yasmine Spurrell

I can’t stop thinking about your strawberry sundae with whipped cream and sprinkles. The BEST I’ve ever had!! So flipping good.

  • Akram Saleh

Nice soft serve with many flavors and toppings. Fast and friendly service! Recommend the salted caramel and cotton candy!

  • BB O

Their ice cream is soo good and service is friendly. You should try affogato, coffee tastes better than tim hortons …

  • Drew Casterton

Soft-serve at it's best, and they're very considerate of people with nut allergies. Easy on the wallet too.

  • Walt Cianciusi

Always tasty & delicious. Hot Fudge Sundae is amazing. A worthy addition to your ice cream repertoire.

  • Francesca Leafloor

Hands down the best ice cream and espresso shake in Ottawa.. also best service to top it off

  • Y
