I was having my mango loco drink at Box Hill Central, trying to enjoy it, but pigeons were a real problem. They weren't just hanging around – they were gobbling up people's chips in the food court. Pigeons were standing on tables and even flapping around, making a mess. The food court, supposed to be a nice place to eat, turned into a bird battleground. The smells of different foods were overshadowed by the chaos caused by these birds. It was kind of gross seeing pigeons on tables and leaving their mark on everything. Box Hill Central needs to do something about these pigeons. It's not cool to have them taking over the eating areas. People want to enjoy their food without dealing with birds and the mess they bring. Fixing this pigeon problem would make the place way more pleasant for everyone. This is an utter disgrace, disgusting to eat here, bad smells and pigeons everywhere. Get me out.

Box Hill is a bustling suburban center located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It is a vibrant and multicultural area, with a large Asian population and many authentic Asian eateries and shops. Box Hill has undergone significant development in recent years, with the construction of a new shopping center, high-rise apartments, and improved public transport links. The heart of Box Hill is its bustling shopping and dining precinct, centered around the Box Hill Central shopping center. Here, you will find a wide range of shops, including major department stores, supermarkets, and boutique stores selling everything from fashion to homewares. The dining scene is equally diverse, with many authentic Asian restaurants and eateries offering a range of delicious cuisines. Highly recommended.

For a popular place with lots of shopping options and especially Asian food, I felt the management needs to make sure the amneties are well looked after and clean. I do understand the place gets super busy but I think its quite not there if toilets are that disgusting, no signs for blocked ones and ugh... I lost my appetite that day. I hope it was an isolated event though. Besides that the place is buzzing, food court is appealing and has access to bus and train services via it's complex. Nice.

Box Hill Central has been improving so much in many ways such as the interior, cleanliness and quality of merchandise. The restaurants inside the mall are quality ones, which benefit us customers. This is truly “one stop shop” for Box Hill residents and general public nearby. Parking could be challenging, feeling like driving in Asia. All in all, we love Box Hill Central and hope they continue striving for more happy customers. Highly recommended

Box Hill Central was recently renovated. There are Coles, Woolworths, chemist warehouse, Priceline, Specsaver, Myhealth Box Hill, Breadtop, Bonbon, Macdonald and many others. You can find wide variety of Asian restaurants and Asian grocery stores inside the mall and surrounding it. This place is always busy, parking can be a challenge during peak hours, free parking are limited. There are $1 per hour parking inside the mall.

Only 5mins away from our Airbnb, this place is like a little Asian town, with many Asian food and also Coles (equivalent to SG NTUC). Great place to come here to store up food and drink at home or for your road trips in Melbourne. There are also a few hair salon, bubble tea shops etc. You can get almost everything here. The best part about this place? Their parking is only $1! (Most parking place are expensive in Mel)

Has become rundown, needs a rethink as to the lack of variety in the shops. Box Hill has a very high population of Asian people with heaps of Asian cafes serving beautiful meals. During my working days I had many of my daily meals here, the different cultures were greatly appreciated. Now it's all Asian except for the very popular Subway outlet. I enjoy Asian tucker but cannot have it everyday.

With a plethora of various Asian grocery stores and restaurants, a fresh food market with butchers and a fish monger, as well as Coles and Woolies, Box Hill Central is the place to go for a feed. And with ample (paid, but cheap) parking, a train station, buses, and the 109 tram, getting to an from there couldn't be easier (well actually, it could be. Station St can get very busy)

LARGE SHOPPING CENTRE ABOVE BOX HILL TRAIN STATION Great range of Asian foods, fresh fruits and vegetables as well as Asian Grocery stores. Many restaurants and cafes within and next to the centre.. most of which are various Asian cuisines (predominantly Vietnamese, Cantonese, Korean and Japanese. Its always busy which means that the produce is always fresh :)

It is a big China town. Large market area is a good place for fresh fruit/vegetables and groceries shopping. Also lots of meat, poultry, fish shops to choose from. Many Chinese restaurants surrounded make it more attractive. Good location and easy public transport. Actually it is built on top of the train station and also a hub for major buses.

I come to this place almost every weekend. Lots of Asian restaurants and great place for grocery shopping. I come here to do most of my grocery shopping, weekend brunch, haircuts, mobile phone screen protectors, my chemists, Asian groceries, fruits and vegs. There are lots of good restaurants...highly recommended. I want to move close by.

This place is amazing. So many Asian restaurant in the mall. They also have supermarkets and fresh foods. Easy excess to public transportation and connects directly with train as well. Couple of western fast food available around. Price for the foods and goods is reasonable too. Must visit if around this area.

  • Mark

Confusing layout with shops situated in two separate buildings. It can be crazy busy at the weekend as well, so best to avoid on these days. Another disappointing aspect is the fact there is no free car parking, which is a surprise when other nearby shopping centres do offer free parking for up to 3 hours.

Worst mall ever visited in Australia, nothing much inside, small Coles with limited choices and don’t even give trolleys have to 1 dollar for that….. and couple of restaurants and no free parking also and parking payment also have surcharge…. Over all worst experience

This place is so crazy on the day before the Chinese New Year. Box Hill is famous for the high concentration of Asians and today just highlights how many people actually hang around and shop here. Good to be able to find a place with the appropriate CNY atmosphere.

If you looking for a desk, room, or business office, Boxhill HUB is the best location for the start. There are different options for a membership like a dedicated desk, casual membership, and full membership. Depending on the area and desk you will charge.

  • Thomas Liontis

Box Hill Central's strength definitely is the strong Chinese restaurants all available to you, I like how the shopping area is spaced out and all the shops are not too far from the main street and tram stop. However catching the buses is a bit of a task.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Box Hill Central, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! This bustling shopping center proved to be a true haven for both locals and visitors like me. Here's why I had such a fantastic experience:

  • Nikolas Hu

Almost all shops of shops I've been to have charged surcharge, including fast food, market, and bakery. It's good to see Boxhill station didn't charge surcharge on topping up my myki. "Make sure always bring cash when you come to box hill"

  • Split the Bill

Great shopping center to get your cheap yet tasty fix of Asian cuisine. Apart from the food, there is a clothes shops, discount giftwares and an added bonus is having Big W and safeway at the center as well. Score 4* because of the food

  • steve rau

Not having spent alot of time in Melb of the last few decades I found this a great experience and an eye opener...I do live in the country. Having the train station and all the shopping and food amenities together is great.

  • Nguyen Duc

Box Hill Central has been refurbished to catch up with other shopping centres. Much nicer and neater with good air circulation. Several upmarket food venues popping up. Carpark still a big issue on busy days and hours.

  • Jose Evans

Im working with Doordash doing deliveries, and this is the ONLY place where I had to pay parking to use Click & Collect from Coles, is amazing that they force you to pay even if you stop by 5 minutes. Not happy

  • Kristian Mathiopoulos

Great variety of food to be found here, from all over Asia and beyond. Great for grocery shopping, grabbing a quick bite to eat, or a full sit down restaurant experience. One stop shop for all your food needs.

  • Edith Culango

A good place to go for shopping anything from Asian grocery, jewellery, clothing, standard supermarket, Cafe and restaurants. Easy access by public transport and if you drive there's levelled carpark. …

  • Vincent Nguyen

Nice shopping centre with good price asian grocery, food court, fine dining restaurants and some popular brands. Below it is the Box Hill train station. On top is the bus interchange. Super convenient

  • Maddy

95% of the box hill centre contains non veg and due to that problem I was unable to eat properly and I had to go elsewhere for purchasing and eating food items. Overall it was a nice experience.

  • John Kelly

Good for grocerie shopping and lunch. Lots of different types of food available but the seating area can get quite busy. It has improved a lot over the years but still feels quite lacking.

  • Clawintal

Always abit pack here. It’s not easy to find a parking at lunch time. But if you do come, you have to ensure you keep an eye out on the traffic. Cars running in all different directions.

  • Zeph

There's quite a lot going on here. Excellent variety of Asian food and shops. Maccas and a couple of nice cafes with lovely cakes are just next to the train station entry/exit.

  • Juliet Castelino

Transit from bus station to train station is pathetic with escalators shut. Same for train station to the commuter car park. direct access to the carpark been shut for a while.

  • Jo Jo

Exceptional variety of Asian supermarkets, takeaway, and restaurants. Train station below and car park above. Great selection of variety stores as well as a Woolworths.

  • Jane Green

Wide range of restaurants and shops, very convenient. However really should do something about the infestation of pigeons in the food court. It’s really messy.

  • Trevor

Haven't been to Box Hill for many a year. Off the train up the escalator and I was in Asian heaven. The food and smells was fantastic. Great food of all kinds.

  • Kristin Inglis

Hasn't changed much in over 20 years, still a wide variety of Asian stores mixed in with the usual regulars such as Woolies and Subway …

  • Eeching Lai

There are a lot of nice asian cuisine restaurants at box hill commercial centre as well as shops who provide a wide range of asian products.

  • Sam Seng

Compressive and diverse food, grocery and all rounded offerings. The passageway leading up to Coles in the basement is a well crafted space.

  • Ben jose

Good place for grocery shopping and eat, BUT no Big-W, no Target or Kmart? also we couldn't find any clothing / fashion stores?

  • Q. Thanh Tran

Be aware you have to pay for parking when you do a quick click and collect! Rip off box hill center, making money every minute.

  • Debbie Piggott

Very busy all the time. Good public transport access, which makes it a great place to shop. Plenty of variety of shops too.

  • Michael

So much yummy food here I love to come here as a starting point when I feel like trying so authentic Asian food or snacks.

  • Aini Mokti

I love that I can find a lot of Asian desserts here. One of the places that I'd come back to if I miss my hometown.

  • Jason L

Feel like you are in a Asian mall Plenty of chinese businesses and restaurants The train station connects the mall

  • Elijah Wade

Super weird walking your dog through a shopping centre to exit a train station but a really good food court.

  • Villie Jo Galang
