20211104 Ottawa used to have many more independent bookstores. Alas, time has changed and one by one they are disappearing from our neighbourhoods. So I am glad to find "Books on Beechwood" is again open for in-store browsing and shopping. In terms of client service, I have visited many independent bookstores and do not mind being asked whether i need help or not. After all, a bookstore is not a library. I have no problem with all my visits to Books on Beechwood (since ~10 yrs ago) and the staff are always both friendly and helpful. In terms of their books, I always enjoy browsing through what they have on display and if I can't find a particular title or authour, the staff are always willing to order or provide advice. I will continue to recommend Books on Beechwood to my friends, esp those who support local independent bookstores.

Every neighbourhood needs a local bookstore with just enough stock that you aren't overwhelmed by all the choices ( scented chocolate chip candles, anyone?). Books on Beechwood doesn't have those but they do have a lot of somewhat esoteric books that I buy and are usually not carried by the chains. They also happen to be beside the Scone Witch which makes the best oatmeal scones in Eastern Ontario. This is a winning combination.

I’ve been shopping here for four years and love it. They have an incredible, curated selection of new titles that you won’t find in other stores. It’s a great place for gifts, too—lots of charming knick knacks, puzzles, totes, coffee mugs, cards, and other fun and quirky items. Their online store is also handy for requesting hard to find independent titles at an affordable price.

My daughter and I had a nice experience at BoB on a busy Saturday afternoon. We happened to visit on Independent Bookstore Day, so we enjoyed a nice discount, and the staff also marked the day with a few draws for book packages. Service was terrific, even though there were so many customers in a small space. We are quite satisfied with our purchases, too.

Books on Beechwood is a fantastic local bookstore, with excellent selection, and friendly staff who are there to help should you need it. If they don't have the book you are looking for, they will happily order it for you. They also have an interesting selection of eclectic non-book items, which are great for gifts. Highly recommended!

Every time we’re in the beechwood area we always check this place out! The staff is very friendly and the bookstore is really well organized! So beautiful seeing all the books on display! They have a wide variety of genres as well as other notions besides books! Definitely a must visit for any bookworm in the area …

I love neighborhood bookstores. The reason being, I always find something to buy or see a book I hadn't realized had been released on a topic I'm interested in. The larger chain stores are overwhelming in their selection that when I do pass through I always leave empty handed. More power to the locals.

My very favourite bookstore in all of Ottawa. The book and puzzle selection is great and the staff are fantastic. Books on Beechwood is also amazing for ordering books that are harder to find/not the newest which is amazing. So happy to have such a wonderful bookstore in the neighbourhood!

So cozy and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and always willing to talk about what you're interested in and order in books they don't have in stock. Everything is very well-organized and many books have hand-written tags with recommendations from staff. It's always a lovely visit.

This is an adorable little book store with a carefully curated collection and a great kids section. It is conveniently located next to a wonderful scone shop, so you can enjoy delicious scones while you browse the books. I highly recommend checking it out!

This bookstore is such a gem, and our neighborhood is lucky to have it!! A very good selection of reads plus they are so helpful when you are looking for something not in stock. Also a great puzzle destination.

Books on Beechwood is one of my favourite book stores in Ottawa. In addition to the books, I especially like the puzzles and games section. The staff at this store are also very kind and knowledgeable.

Not enough independent books stores left in this city. Glad to see that Books on Beechwood is bucking the trend. I love the great selection for kids and the occasional bookshop dog sighting.

Love this little bookstore. An excellent kid's selection and amazing staff. Also great recommendations for fiction. I will always prefer small independents like this to big chains.

Staff members were not very friendly or helpful. Never asked questions about what I was looking for. They ignore people. The positive reviews are far from accurate. Not impressed.
