My son goes to school here and I was very sad to see him unhappy these reviews with 3+ stars are as fake as a Gucci bag in the Sunday market It's very true that this school has no idea how to handle children the teachers most not all are rude and bitter they use detention as it's the only way of punishing a child and some of the reasons given for them are ridiculous. Ofsted need to do unannounced visits I have asked many children my self about lunch time meals and many and I mean many children do not eat the food and Dispite this the school do not care they even forced my child to eat garlic bread and followed him to the dust bin and told him he better not even think about spitting it out they are very quick to cover there tracks and paint to the world there amazing you only have to go to the common to see the children smoking and yes I notice how most urban children get blamed and in trouble yet the upper class kids get away with a lot After school clapham junction is terrorised by pupils that mc Donald's hire security but can you blame the children there school food is horrible they should be allowed to bring pack lunch but there very happy to take the funding for lunch time meals but serve the children dog food children sneak food in there bags just so they can have something to keep them going it's just shocking that it's happening in a school in today's society you can not expect children to behave well by distributing tasteless food and release them in the common for break with nothing to do there children not dogs extremely disappointed is what I am with this school if they really cared they would listen to parents and pupils and find a balance and work together. I still believe it would be 5 star school if the main people in charge was not so arrogant clearly they neglect children in some ways and get away with it if you are reading this and are a member of staff then please do listen and make changes to become better at least try it out for once just listen
We could not be happier with this school. It is a truly local school so my children (Year 9 and Year7) have continued their friendships from primary school and made new ones with other children - all from our local neighbourhood. Also no time is wasted commuting - the children's walk is less than 5 mins - which is more important than most realise. School now has a booming PTA with lots of social events and fund raising events which I believe is unusual at secondary level - it is building on the PTA models at Belleville and Honeywell. The teaching and learning is great, every class is set for ability so the learning is tailored but there is a lot of movement between sets as the children settle down. Homework is on average about 45 mins per night but on some nights this is only reading (the children read a lot !) and music practice - they have a longer day so most of learning happens at school. The opportunities are great, my 2 have rowed on the Thames, have cycling at Herne Hill, go the the theatre several times a year, take part in orchestra and choir, lots of sport, debating, Duke of Edinburgh (oldest doing Bronze) etc etc The school has very straight forward rules (does that make it strict?) and are very consistent on their implementation so the children do know what they can, and cannot do - we have no complaints here but other parents have raised this as a problem at the Parent Council for some children particularly in Year 7. Hope this helps.
This is a great school. The dedication and enthusiasm of the Bolingbroke teachers is especially striking when you meet them and spend time at the school and this sets the school apart from others. The focused leadership, sense of purpose and high aspirations for all children is inspirational. In turn this creates in the children impressive levels of engagement. My daughter has had a very happy first year at Bolingbroke with the high standards expected in all aspects of school life setting exactly the right tone for learning and for the very good academic standards she has attained. She has developed great interest in new subjects (languages, science, geography etc) and had some superb opportunities to extend her learning both through classroom activities and extra-curricular. Discipline standards are sensible, consistent and clearly understood by the students - and they work, as behaviour of pupils is excellent. The school should be very proud of its achievements to date in building a community and an ethos which will benefit hundreds of Wandsworth children as they work towards University and employment.
Very poor school. I was actually very surprised too see all the glowing reviews which I fear reflect more middle class skepticism or indeed prejudices about other options combined with quite a bit of snobbery about the school's original intentions, Very mediocre teaching, very punitive and inconsistent disciplinary policy which is applied in a whimsical manner. There are actually places in years 8 and 9 right now, I suspect because of this system. Very arrogant leadership team who are unresponsive and not held responsible outside a very small clique of parents. Head teacher is also the head of board of governors, which while not unheard of, is like having the chairman and CEO of the company doing the same role. i.e. no accountability and no one to hold her to account. As a parent with a child (I hope not for long) currently at the school, I am writing this anonymously, but if you are considering sending your child here I would very strongly advise against it.
This is a good school with the potential to be excellent. Pupils wanting to do well are supported to do so. There are a few 'difficult' children who need to knuckle down or get weeded out. Complaints about the lunches are laughable and demonstrate the priorities of ex students with a knife to grind. Admittedly, more needs to be done to tackle anti-social behaviour in the local community and increased parental engagement and support would be welcomed. As the school becomes increasingly populated with Honeywell and Belleville siblings it will go from strength to strength.
Sorry to say but rubbish school, they don't know how to deal with children and having competition between teacher on who will be the top of giving detentions for pupils even for silly small things, moved my daughter to different school in the borough and they are strict but very professional and she is doing lot better that Bolingbroke and loves her new school now. they shouldn't deserve to be feeded by top two primary schools in the borough (Belleville and Honeywell),but they are lucky I got lots of negative feedback from other parents about this school
This school is completely full of bullys and disrespectful teachers that only hear what they want to hear. I know a child that goes here and he said that the children there are nice but the majority are gang members and just children that pick on others because they have nothing else to do. The learning is good but in class the children don't get enough learning as their meant to because there is a lot of silliness and banta. I rate this school 1 star so be aware of the outcome if your child is coming here next year. Good luck.
How should i say this..This school....The food is garbage. Some teachers don't even teach right some even stand on a table and shout at the class. The teachers at this school cannot handle children nor do the have the experience to. i would not recommend you sending your children to this school as it will ruin your child's life. If you bring your children here you truly don't love them. Although some teachers are horrible, there are a lot of good ones this school is alright but it could be much better
So pleased to have Bolingbroke Academy as our local secondary school. My two children are really enjoying their time there. It is a really good mix of children and I think it will really get my children ready for life after school. The school has a very happy and calm atmosphere and the teachers are very dedicated to helping and teaching the children.
Bolingbroke is a fabulous school. They support their students at the highest level possible, preparing them for life, further education and work. The school is multicultural, representing the world. It is a great school. BTW most of the negative reviews are from students who are unhappy with the school because it is strict...
A great local school. Our son has just finished Year 7 and we have been so impressed by the teaching at Bolingbroke. His teachers have high expectations but are also very supportive. Communication between the school and home is very good. We are very happy that we have another child starting Bolingbroke in September.
I have two children at the school and another going next year. The head and teachers are excellent and work so hard with the children on so many different levels. We are delighted to have a really good local school to send our children to.
We have 2 children in the school and they are learning so much from the amazing teachers and are enjoying the community. We can see improvements every year and in every department. The latest is "the salad bar" ! Kids love it.
Bolingbroke has been a very good school for my two children. They have had lots of great opportunities in music, drama and sport and the teachers are really committed.
5/5 - Education and quality of education is perfect. - Pupils are happy and really engage into lessons. - Overall a great school.
