Bobo's has been a family favorite ever since I was a child. I have recommended this restaurant to many of my friends in the past. However, things do change. Our server started out with excellent service only to dwindle down once the main course arrived. We ordered the "Dinner for Two" which was $31; an increase in price from $26 and ice tea/coffee no longer offered free under the special. Sizzling rice soup was average in taste consisting of mainly broth, rice, 4 small shrimp and 2 small pieces of pork, and vegetables. Pot stickers seem to be the same as previous experiences and have always been good. Mongolian Beef (ordered 1/2 sugar) was excellent; not overly sweet but still got a nice crisp on the meat. My favorite dish of all time at Bobo's has always been the Garlic Chicken (ordered extra spicy); however, tonight I was extremely disappointed. The sauce was usually thick and flavorful and clung to the chicken but tonight it was much thinner in consistency and bland. In addition, the heat level was very low. Both dishes came out hot but I also noticed that the portion sizes were reduced. When presented with the check by the male "cashier", he asked if everything was good. I informed him that I've definitely had better before and he smiled and said "Thank You" then walked away. Guess the message was lost in translation. My mother and sister have already stopped going to Bobo's due to lack of service on two back to back visits. I traveled from Mansfield to eat at Bobo's and am now considering if it was worth the drive. Time will tell if I decide to go back. All in all, I know things do change but reducing portion sizes as well as raising prices may be great for the business but it can have a detrimental affect on the value that customers, especially long term customers, experience.
I was surprised at the fact that this place had as many stars as it did. We just left and we got the dinner for 2 with the garlic chicken and mongolian beef. It comes with a crispy rice soup and theres wasn't much flavor to it so I'm not sure what the was suppose to taste like, the potstickers are bigger than what I've seen yes but the way they fried them made them soggy from the inside and hard to chew from the outside. The main course came with white rice and that was good no issues with the rice but the chicken was soggy and I'm not sure if it was cooked or not and the beef was gamey tasting it was pretty bad. The price with a drink and a water was around 40 bucks, the amount of food was alot yes but I'd rather pay that for an actual good tasting meal. The service wasn't the best either, the waiter sat us done and asked what we wanted to drink and we told her and she brought it to us within the minute and then she asked if we were ready to order and I told her no because I had not been there before so she stood there for a minute and then walked away after I told her I needed some time to look at the menu. And then after we were done and she began to pick up all the food we didnt eat she said all this food? I'm not sure what that meant but the food sucked.
I’ll start with - FOOD WAS DISGUSTING!!!! I HAD BEEF LO MEIN. THERE WAS NO SAUCE NO GARLIC NO FLAVOR BARELY ANY MEAT AND A SIDE OF RICE. The only sauce i Had was the 1 soy and 1 duck sauce pack in my bag. I'm still confused as to why I needed a side of rice on an order of beef LO MEIN NOODLES !!!! Half a portion of lo mein and 2 egg rolls for $ 18. What a waste of money and a stomach ache. read reviews and only saw more good than bad so I decided give a try. I called my order in and Staff seemed pleasant. However when I went in to pay I was ignored standing at the counter while staff was talking on the phone. I assumed they were taking orders until I was given a finger to wait a minute while she preceeded to adjust her earbud and continue with her convo which clearly wasn't work related. Meanwhile I have cash in hand READY TO PAY. I should've took that as I sign but I took a deep breath and waited. After another 5 mins I paid and had to turn and read multiple receipts to identify my order. Staff is very rude in my opinion. If I’m spending money on bad food at LEAST have a little customer service

My family has been coming to Bobo for longer than I can remember and we have never really had any complaints. Tonight though, our experience was different. Our waitress generally seemed disinterested in life and had trouble taking our order, repeating it back to us multiple times even though it was only 3 items. Our food came out almost immediately but it was obvious things had been sitting out as there was a dramatic difference in the temperature of the dishes. The eggrolls and cashew chicken were barely warm while the Mongolian beef was scalding hot. Our drinks didn't arrive until we had started eating. Once we were finished we sat waiting for a long period of time before a different waitress came by to ask if we needed anything. In the past the waitresses have always boxed leftovers. While this isn't necessary it's definitely a customer service plus I've come to appreciate. Gone are those days. The prices have also raised across the board. It's as though they are under new ownership or management. Everything still tasted delicious, but the experience was lacking.
It pains me having to rewrite this review but the drastic dip in quality and somehow raise in prices definitely calls for it. First I have to say I have eaten at this restaurant since I was a child and this place was second to none for Chinese food. The food was always a bit more pricer than many other Chinese restaurants but it was Soo good you didn't care having to spend more. All that being said it seems that the change in owners has drastically lowered the quality of food cooked here. None of the beef here is tender anymore and is almost all gristle. Barely any veggies served with the entrees. To-go meals are filled with one scoop of rice, with minal entree portions even with the drastic price increases. Even before the recession price hike this place had a head start on raising there prices and reducing portions. It truly pains me but I have to abandon my support for this restaurant after years of praising it and introducing it to friends. I hope this place switches gears and fast to get back to how it used to be.

After 40 years of coming here and bringing family and friends it’s not the same. Don’t know when ownership changed, but the old woman usually at the front is rude and no response to my complaints, waitress could not take an order correctly, table cloth was dirty and who knows the last time it was changed. I have been coming here since I was five for the Mongolian beef because it was crispy and delicious. Not any more, same stuff you get at a buffet, soggy meat minus the crispy noodles, sizzling rice soup was bland, pot stickers chewy. You use to be able to get the dinner for two for $20 with tea, now it’s $31 with no tea. Price would not be a big deal if the service and food had not change.. lol the only thing that has not changed in 40 years are the fake food dishes displayed when you walk in the front door. So long Bo Bo. :-(
I grew seeing this place, the big advertisement sign. Thought to myself yesterday it's time to give them a try. They have to be good because they've been around forever. I was wrong. Food tasted 2 days old but was just reheated. Ordered beef fried rice, chicken fried rice and two beef egg rolls. The fried rice was very dry and flavorless. I had the beef fried rice which was basically just fried rice. It only had about 7 pieces of beef in it. The beef egg rolls should've just been vegetarian egg rolls. They were fresh but had no beef. Will not return. Would not recommend. I know fresh food vs heated up old food and this was old.
Lovely, clean n cozy inside - a place you really want to stay n eat at. Very good service - clearly a family owned n operated place - rare these days. Spring rolls were awesome, hot n sour soup good hunan chicken also good. Portions enough for three days! Hunan was chock full of healthy veggies. Some folks have called it bland - maybe a bit but I suspect its cuz theres no msg. Can always add some chinese mustard or duck sauce which is cutely set on the table in old fashioned sqeeze bottle n syrup jar. Maybe not worth flying in from Hong Kong, but a good option for the neighborhood - especially kids.
My family's go to favorite for a relaxing lunch or a special occasion. Some of the best Chinese I have eaten and I have had a lot. Egg rolls are amazing!update 2/14/23 Still wonderful tho prices have gone up considerably. Shrimp on the shrimp with Lobster sauce are small but on the Bobo Shrimp are enormous. Same price, not sure why they are different. One of the only places I know of where you can still get meat filled fried wontons instead of cream cheese. The traditional ones are so much better! Lunch was now $11.95 a plate, but still just as wonderful as always.
It hurts to post this because of the years we have eaten or ordered out from here. But the food was terrible... Vegetables didn't taste fresh at all, more like a day or too old. The portions were very minimum compared to the price per dish. The waitress would stare at you from a distance almost as if she was monitoring you that you ate it all. Worst experience going here. And I still tipped 20% due to the fact were still in a pandemic and we were the only ones eating in at that time. Skip this place for now. Got a better chance ordering from Panda Express
After seeing all these reviews I thought the food would be good. It is NOT as good as all these people claim it is. Very expensive, but not worth the quality. I do not usually give reviews, but the people who claim this food is good are giving is false reviews and saying the food is good when it's NOT!!!!!!!!!! I'm so sorry, but I have eaten way better Chinese food. I waisted my money and threw the food away. I believe this is the kind of food that would make someone SICK. Honestly, it is just my opinion though........
My go to Chinese place. I have been going here for 30+ years. The portions are huge and the place looks the same as it did 30 years ago. The suzziling rice soup is a must. Also the Mongolian beef is excellent and so is the Hunan chicken. Only thing to avoid is the seafood. A best bet is the family meals. 3 people can have more than enough food by ordering the dinner for 2. The restaurant is not super nice form the outside, however the food makes up for the old appearance. Do your self a favor and run and eat the food.
Just left the restaurant. No more lunch specials on Sundays. Means we have to order a large dish of only one item instead of us ordering our own entree at an individual serving. Egg drop soup is bland. The owner just looking out the window and not assisting the waitress if possible. She only came to the table to take the check and credit card. No fortune cookies we given. I don’t they they will be open in the near future. That would be on their fortune cookie! Probably our last time!
They make the best Mongolian in the state. Whether it's beef, chicken, or shrimp.

We have been going to Bobo China for many years. Their service is impeccable. And throughout all those years the staff I don't believe has ever changed. Always the same ladies running around at a furious pace. The decor is straight from the 1950s. Very classic. The food is extremely good. My favorite is the vegetable crispy spring rolls. They are the best I've ever had. I also love their egg drop soup. The food is consistently delicious, fresh and always served hot.
I have been eating at BoBo China for as long as I can remember. My mom has been eating here since 76'. The food is as good now as it's ever been. My whole family literally drives from all over the metroplex from as far as Quitman, Arlington, and North Richland Hills to meet here to eat. We always get the same thing the dinner for 8 as it showcases the best of what they have to offer. Can't reccomend it enough.

I used to hold Bobo China up as THE best Chinese, until they switched from hand chopped vegetables of proper size to diced mall food court quality. I have frequented this restaurant and gotten takeout for over 30 years, and was horribly disappointed in the food quality in my last visits. Still the best hot and sour soup, but everything else has dropped to no better than food court. i can only pray for a change back to what got them a Dallas Observer "Best of"...
Bobo China is consistently good. I recommend all their spicy dishes. They will have a symbol to indicate they are spicy.Their tea is very popular. Their dinner portions are huge! I always take some home. The ambience is very peaceful. The aroma is unmistakably delicious. One time I ordered the egg drop soup and loved it, but another time vwhen I ordered it again, it didn't taste the same. It did not taste the same, that is the reason I am giving it 4 stars.
A non-buffet restaurant and I was extremely grateful for that! Great friendly staff and affordable prices, huge portions....you will take home leftovers. And they stay open late! Perfect after a long day of shopping in Dallas. They also sell alcohol. They didn't happen to have any wine the night that I went but they we're fully stocked in beer. Great place to take your family or to eat alone. I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Chinese food.
We have been going to BoBos for around 30 years. The food was good and the sauce was not sweet like other chain places. We went tonight. It has changed. Our go to dishes were super sweet and missing ingredients. The place looked closed. Skelton staff. We were the only ones in the parking lot. I have not ever seen it void of customers. Sad.

My group got there at 11 right when it opened on Sunday. I had been there many times before over the years. The place had a wet smell, we sat in a big room in the back and the carpet looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years and did look like it had been vacuumed from the night before. I was very disappointed at how unkept it looked and felt. I will not be coming back any time soon

We had the Mongolian Beef. It was so tough you couldn't chew it! The waitress just said sorry when we complained and then brought our check. I asked for the manager and he said we had to pay for our food. I said we could not eat it, and he said he would give us 1 remade dish, when we had ordered 2. I explained that the meat was not edible and he said that we still had to pay! Terrible customer service!
Every time I order online 25 mins ahead of time, it’s never ready. I’m still waiting 20 mins what’s the point of calling in an order of going to still have to wait. I see they use there bare hands touching all the food. Touching everything one guy scratching his head and put his hands in the shrimp. I’ll never go back.

Have been going to Bobo China off of Plano road in Dallas tx for 27 years and still the best mandarin/Chinese I have ever had! Probably some of the best food I've ever had, period. It's been the same wonderful work staff since I was a baby, and the decor is really something special and authentic. This place would be my last meal. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. #bobochinaforlife
The food is good and the portions are large, in my opinion you can eat twice. My reason for not giving 5stars is I prefer with the sweet and sour things they put the sauce on the side.

Used to be good and friendly service. Not anymore Woman rude and refused to sell me extra sauce. After being a customer for years. Do not go there. They are rude and do not want your business . I canceled my order and no one in my family will ever go there. This will be posted all across social media Good thing I didn't place my order for 8 people. They do not value your business
Haven't been there in a long time. It showed a banner outside saying "New management same Chef and staff." Atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. Staff was friendly and very attentive. Our food was brought out timely and hot. Huge portions and quite tasty, just like we remembered it being long ago. Will be back again. Memorable meal and we all left full with lots to take home.
I went in for lunch with some coworkers. The young lady that helped us was very quiet but was very attentive and polite. The food was brought in a timely manner and was delicious. The outside of the building and signage need work, but don’t be fooled. Inside is well decorated and well kept. The staff is friendly. Support local business and enjoy a good meal.
The front desk lady needs to be replaced. She ignored me, when I came in for a pick up. People that came in before me went first. When I asked about me. She said ok ok. She ended up walking away and taking people's orders at tables. While the lobby was full of people. It was an awful experience. I will not be back. This is the third bad experience with this lady.
Been a family favorite of mine all the way back from when my parents were little. The food is AMAZING, and I personally recommend the ming chicken. There's a nice homey feel and the waiters are always nice. The change in managers has made the service go down a bit, and the portion sizes keep getting smaller, but it's still good enough to keep me coming back.
After 25 yrs coming of coming on a daily basis and having enjoyed all their food! I have to admit the new ownership just plain ruins everything in every way. They want to make you eat What they want not what you want. The owner is pushy and doesn’t listen to what you want. Sorry bobo I’m going to miss you but is time to move on to another Chinese place.
Food is delicious but some of the waitress, especially the older short haired one is very rude. Especially when it comes to customer service she provides. Employees need to be courtiess to provide a better atmospheric experience. Otherwise the restaurant I have loved since I was a child will eventually become a placed known for their bad waitress.
Love this place. We have been going here since it opened in 1977! There are still a few original employees we working here. The food excellent. Generous portions. You can see the chefs preparing the food as you walk in the door. I believe most food is prepare fresh. To order. They do takeout orders as well and are fast. Usually 15 to 20 minutes.
All of our soups were cold; after reheating was still only warm. Chicken was tough and stringy in the sweet and sour chicken lunch. On the plus side -- Staff was pleasant and friendly, serving time was good, wait staff was attentive. Selection was great. They have the best crab rangoon in the state!! Prices were reasonable. Will go there again.
First, it looks closed, no outside lights are on. I noticed the "open" sign was on so we came in. Then we ordered one dish to be spicy and once again it was not....its the third time here and they never get it right. I really don't think they will be open another year if they keep looking closed and getting the orders wrong. Its a real shame.
The food is really good! Driving by on Church Road, you might not bat an eye simply because of the location (directly next to a gas station and across from some car repair places and lawn care), but you'd be missing out. We've only eaten here once, but if it's as good as it was the first time when we go again, I'd definitely give it five!
Been eating here since the early '80s, absolutely fantastic!! Keep up the great work!

Excellent food. This place had a sign on the door for help wanted. Dishwasher and wait staff needed. The restaurant was packed and only two women were serving and one person cleaning tables. They were doing great for being under staffed, so if you are looking for a job please consider this restaurant and help those that really need it.
Place is hit or miss. We think the chef was having a bad day. We did have a large party, (9)but we ordered the family meals to help. Food was just not as good as it normally is. We will try again and update the post. My wife loves the sizzling rice soup here, so we will try again.

Some of the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. Yes the restaurant is a little dated, but it's been around since I was a kid, and I'm over 40 now! The staff is polite and knowledgeable. Anything I have eaten was delicious and beautiful! If you are looking for some top quality Chinese at a reasonable price, you have to come here!

Best Chinese food ever. I moved away from this place and I miss it so much. Try the fried rice soup, its awesome. The bobo rice is the best. Love their fried dumplings. I've never had anything from bobos that disappointed me. This place sets the bar for other Chinese food places and they definitely know what they are doing

I've been eating at bobo China since... well it started. Always great food. The last time I ate here however, not the same. I know there are new owners but the recipes have changed as well. Not much but just enough to notice it isint the same. I hope they go back to the wonderful flavors that used to be there.
This has been my favorite Chinese restaurant for almost 50 years, but the last few times we went there, it just wasn’t as good. I think they got new management because we don’t see the original owners anymore. Anyway, still good, just no longer great

The food was great. Family style portions. Five stars had they not thrown out the food I boxed. It’s a small restaurant and they absolutely could have brought it out to me as we stood outside chatting for a few minutes after our meal. Instead, it went in the trash. My fault, I’ll remember my food next time.
My husband and I used to come here in the late 80s - early 90s when we worked nearby. Today it is exactly the same!! Just as Great!! We had forgotten how good it was and plan to make the trip from N. Plano more often. Try the Sizzling Rice Soup, Mogollian Beef, Orange Chicken... you won't be disappointed!!
This place has the Hollywood movie feel for 80's Chinese restaurants. I'm 45 and my parents brought me here as a kid, love it, hasn't changed a bit, it's like it's frozen in time. Plan on coming here and bringing my kids for many more years. Food is great and wait staff are friendly and attentive.
The plate I had was not tasty. The steamed dumplings were equally horrible. They are over priced as well. I do not recommend.

Great find. This place is the real deal. How good was it? So good that I went there 3 days in a row. Very pleased with all my choices. The place has been in business for over 40 years. What else do you need to know other than when are you going there? Oh: The portions were generous in size.
This place needs to close for good. It really is bad. Tasteless food. No seasoning whatsoever. $49 for dinner and left three quarters on the table. This place was a ghost town and I should have known better. Yuck!

I have been a Bo Bo China customer for over 40 years and I loved it. I knew new ownership had taken over and my wife and I recently stopped for dinner. What a disappointment ! The dishes I have enjoyed for years were bland and tasteless. It’s doubtful that we’ll go back
This has been my favorite Chinese food place for almost 30 years... This time might have been my last. Marginal food quality (although the hot & sour soup is still a winner), REALLY dirty, especially the bathroom.

I hadn’t been to BoBo in a while (I had a few bad customer service issues in past). But they had a sign that said new management so we ordered last week and tonight! And wow customer service was great and no mix-up on my carry out order! Yay for new management!
I've been eating here for over 30 years and I've never been disappointed. My youngest son had his 21st birthday dinner and his wedding rehearsal dinner here and everybody had a great time. Mongolian beef seems to be everyone's favorite but everything is great.
I’ve been eating here since the ‘90s. Food is great, prices are reasonable and the staff are nice. New ownership has not effected the food quality or portions. The new owners are pleasant and easy to deal with. Will always eat here as long as I live in Dallas.

We sat down for a Sunday night dinner all of the food was delicious especially the orange chicken extra crispy. Bobo fried rice was very good and I am a combo Fried rice connoisseur. Service was excellent! Prices were reasonable. I will certainly be back.
When you arrive there is a strong smell of sewer. It took a long time to be greeted. Once we were seated, it took a long time for the waitress to come take our drink order. She brought out our drinks and some fried wontons that are normally

Ordered from Door Dash. Food had a hair in it. Meat tastes old. And drink was sent with open straw in it which was sketchy looking from the beginning. Workers probably don’t wear hairnets. Had to call Door Dash corporate office to complain.
I happened to be looking for another place to go for lunch today, but I will probably end up going back to Bo-Bo - because it is consistently good. It is a nice, unpretentious, real Chinese food place with prompt service and big portions,
I ordered a meal from here using their online ordering service, only to receive a call half an hour later to let me know that the restaurant apparently "doesn't do delivery," and I would have to go pick the food up myself. Unable to do so
This place is my favorite place. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this place. everytime I I need a special meal, this is the place that comes straight to my mind. fresh and many types

A Dallas staple. Never fails to fill my guests and myself up. It’s family style so come hungry, order at least 3 plates to share or more if you want to take home leftovers. Moderately priced but you get what you pay for and then some.
I had heard a lot of good things about this place. I ordered the Szechuan Chicken. The chicken was very tough and the sauce wasn't spicy at all. In fact, it was quite bland. The service was quite good. My server was friendly and fast.
This place has ruined Chinese food for me. I can not find any Chinese Restaurant that serves better food than Bobo China. The food is fresh! The food is tasty! The service is great. By far, one of my favorite places to eat in Dallas!

Chicken wings, 4 for 7.95 and they were bland. Hot and sour soup, bland and had peas in it, very odd. Only thing I liked was the pork lo menu, very nice and flavorful. No inside dining, takeout only More
The food was very tasty, I went to the bathroom and it was so disgusting that I could no longer eat anything. I travel a lot and have never seen a truck stop or rest area so filthy. I will never return !
We love ordering Togo food from here. Great ambiance. Food is great and not too spicy. Serving size is big. Order 2 entrees and 1 appetizer for 4 people. Would recommend garlic chicken. Friendly owners.
New owner and I'm almost in tears. Egg rolls didn't taste homemade and chicken was gross. So sad as I loved loved this place for. Long time. The waitress staff gone too and different kitchen staff. Ugh
The bowls of food in the Entrance kinda threw me off. Needless to say, the food was great. A very nice flavorful taste. With every bite. I ordered the Sampler Appetizer & my daughter, the Beef LoMein.
Amazing food! Been going here for years. It's take out only right now due to the pandemic but it's worth taking home. My personal favorite is the mongolian beef but everything I've tried is delicious.
The food didn’t seem fresh. The meal didn’t look appetizing and I couldn’t eat most of it. The service was poor and inattentive. The server seemed like our table was inconvenient. Will never go back.
Best service. Am always treated well with quick and accurate service. Did I mention the food is outstanding. From the garlic chicken to Mongolian beef. I come here every year around Christmas time.
When the egg rolls came out, the waitress said "oh no that one is way to greasy." So she brought me back that same egg roll 5 mins later. The food was good, and service was fast. Will try it again.
That's for the mega large fresh ice tea to go, only $2 Can't wait to come back for a delish meal Very kind staff

Best Mongolian beef ever! Love the chicken sticks & crab rangoon too. Everyone I have taken here loves this place. It's a long drive for me but well worth it. Best Chinese food around!!!
Delicious food - nothing super stellar but consistent and fresh. They do have the best egg fu young I’ve found in Dallas. Their dining room is traditional Chinese, and its a nice touch.
My husband and I eat here almost weekly. The food is great and the portion sizes are large. We love the Mongolian Beef, fried rice and wonton soup. We always have excellent service☆☆☆☆
It's awesome! Very good food, quick friendly service. Large portions and quant restaurant. We got take out: Mongolian beef, green pea shrimp, chicken fried riceand hot and sour soup.
We love this place. I eat lunch here on a regular basis. The food is always hot and fresh, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. Try an egg roll, they are the best anywhere.
3-1/2 stars. Its ok. Food is overrated. Not bad though but ok. Recommend other locations. Had the “orange peel chicken w steamed rice and spring roll with a egg drop soup”.
Delicious food! The staff was excellent. Friendly and fast. The building is a little bid old but the food was good. I really enjoyed my meal. I recommend this place.
The food here is very delicious and very light on your stomach. I would recommend this place to anybody
