Our family recently embarked on a memorable adventure at the Albuquerque Bio Park, Aquarium, and Gardens, and it was an absolute delight! The sheer beauty and diversity of the attractions left us in awe, making it a must-visit destination. The Botanic Garden was a tranquil oasis, featuring captivating landscapes and a rich variety of plant species from different ecosystems. We were transported to tropical paradises and arid deserts, each with its unique charm. At the Albuquerque Aquarium, we marveled at the mesmerizing underwater worlds, from vibrant coral reefs to fascinating sea creatures. The interactive displays made it an engaging and educational experience for all. Unfortunately, some species were unavailable during our visit, but we still had an incredible time exploring the vast collection of animals at the Rio Grande Zoo. We did miss the felines, as they were all napping during our visit, but we understand that animals have their rest times too. A helpful tip: Arrive early to make the most of your visit and don't forget to wear sunscreen, as there's plenty to see and do. Overall, despite a few missed sightings, the Albuquerque Bio Park, Aquarium, and Gardens provided us with cherished memories and a fantastic family getaway. We highly recommend it for anyone seeking a blend of nature, education, and fun!

Really large zoo so be prepared to walk a lot and lots of steep hills. The gorilla's were fun to watch but there weren't any lion's or tigers. And the polar bear is apparently depressed (at the loss of his brother) so he doesn't come out of his cave except for feeding time. The coolest part was the mountain lion. There is a catwalk that you can walk under and we were lucky enough to see the mountain lion in the cat walk eating ( we weren't quick enough for pics). But wow it was so cool. Beautiful cheetahs and three snow leopards. Hippos, elephant, kangaroo, rhino, and lots more. Excellent zoo!

What joy listening to the fabulous guitar soloing of Ryan McGarvey and his tight little band while reclining in the grass in front of the zoo pavilion on a delightful Friday evening at the albuquerque zoo. What a divine venue to enjoy summer evening concerts surrounded by a few friends and herds of really wild animals occasionally braying in the background.

Beautiful and tranquil venue for picnicing, listening to music and perhaps dancing. I wish the ice cream bar stayed open until the end of the concert. I remember the merry-go-round was running before the pandemic, maybe it's time to bring that back too. The crowd that showed up for Arkansauce was quite large. The music was a 10.

Enjoy a family day out??? Enjoy exotic animals??? Want to teach your young about our need to protect nearly extinct animals??? Then this a must place to visit. If you're from out of state and want a place to visit that's almost relaxing therapy??? No on any of my visits was I disappointed. You won't be either.

This zoo was absolutely lovely, well kept the animals were well fed and entertained, with their environment taken into consideration for their live in enclosure. They have a variety of animals, highly recommend will have to go again to see the birds and wild cats that kept themself hidden while I visited.

Seems to be one or two animals in all cages. Polar bear looked in distressed and kept pacing. Tiger was in small enclosure and didn't look comfortable and let pacing back and forth of the size of the cage. Didn't seem to like alot of people around. Penguins were suppose to be open but wasn't.

Always an amazing day out! We have done quite a few Zoo Music days, Run for the Zoo, mother & father's days, and just nice weekend adventures close to home. Hoping we can get the koala exhibit back but definitely looking forward to the penguins! Also love the Cafe now …

  • Candace Trujillo

The music wasn't really my type but I loved going to see the animals in the evening. All the cats were out but gorillas chimps and the penguins were all closed. Price per person was a bit high and they don't take cash. Not at the entrance anyway.

  • Andrew Reid

Fabulous enclosures and enrichment programs. A wide variety of species. I was happy to see the ABQ residents recently passed a grant to further expand and improve the zoo. Staff was excited to talk about their area. A great tribute to the city.

  • Patrick Turney

Always amazing to be able to lay out on the grass and listen to some pretty killer musical acts usually. Pack some food and enjoy the evening with a very relaxed crowd. Bonus points for watching all the old people dance along. The best!

  • Spencer Halstead

Fantastic zoo! Fun concert! A really nice, wholesome time (even if the cats at the zoo weren't the biggest fans of the music) Delicious food at the expected prices, I've put the menus for a couple places in the photos

  • Justin Lusby

Great family environment for an evening of music. They sell snacks and drinks as well as alcohol for the adults. Bring a chair or blanket and a cooler with your own snacks, and it'll make for a cheap night out.

  • Fleeece Luna

The zoo was a blast. Me and my Lil family had a great experience and it was our Lil ones first time to the zoo. Memories are awesome my husband got some great pics and they are on his Google review. :-)

There is a lot of construction going on.. This means it will be even better soon. The animals were all out enjoying the EARLY morning weather. Most of them eating breakfast.. Super cool to see.

  • Tom Souther

Saw Tommy Castro and the Pain Killers, they were great! The venue is excellent and the price is right! It doesn't get better than that! Be sure to bring a folding chair and an ice chest!

  • Patty Saavedra

You set up your blanket or chairs on the grass in front of the stage. You can bring your own food or buy something there & they also have beer & wine. Like a big picnic with live music!

  • Rachel Maurer

One of the best places in ABQ to have a picnico and a GREAT summer Friday summer concert series.just go. A great little zoo. ABQ peeps love this zoo and always vote money to support it.

The Albuquerque Zoo is always fun. It needs some TLC here and there, But the animals look happy and its altogether quite large. Spending a good chunk of your day here is possible.

Our zoo is so sad looking. It's terrible the only zoo in the state of New Mexico and it's terrible. Animals look under feed. I hope the penguins survive …
