Billygoat Hill is a place we can get breakfast in till 3 o'clock you can also get lunch and dinner. When you go to there The first thing on your Menu I think is the best it is the make your own adventure it is where you get to choose from a variety of stuff like bacon eggs anyway you want and add all the stuff what toppings my stepbrother Brooke he's a bit fussy any only likes white bread and one day he came with us to Billygoat another plane bedroll and you know what they gave him a plane bagful my point is that if you want something a little special is they probably make it for you also it's superfast and it's really cheap to get stuff you know how it is when you go to a really fancy restaurant it burns a hole in your pocket well if you go to Billygoat that will not happen My brother he is really fussy he's very picky and located for him in every shape way and full of eating that it's a cook your food for the upmost perfection I doubt that you would find better quality food anyway that also makes the best milkshakes ever When you get there you pick your insights and soon after a waiter or waitress will come and take your order you can order off the breakfast menu until 3 Pm then you have to order off the lunch and dinner menu When I walked into this amazing place I didn't think that it would be very cheap so I told Mum that maybe we had to go home but I soon saw that it was amazingly cheap for the amazing food that you got for the amazing price it was amazing if I haven't already said that amazingly many times I could go on and on and on about how good Billygoat Hill is but my tummy is starting to rumble and I feel like I could go for a cheese and tomato croissant right now with my delicious milkshake that I order hey maybe I'll see you there one-day what if you come right now you will see me there because that's where I'm haveing dinner bye for now

My husband, sister and I went in to sit down and have coffee. We were aware my sister's pram was a slight issue with taking inside so she was prepared to fold it up and get it out of the way. The waitress made it very clear that the pram was in the way and it needed to be placed outside, we agreed and my sister was more than happy to move it out. The waitress could not give us a chance to get the kids seated and the todler in the high chair before hounding us two more times that the pram was in the way. Once the todler was restrained in the high chair my sister folder the pram up and got it out of the way. We left their feeling like we weren't welcome with kids. We found the staff member rather rude and ruined our morning out. We all agreed we will not be returning after the treatment we received. Being locals we regularly head into town for coffees. We will go elsewhere here on in. If you do not want to accommodate children or mums with prams maybe you should pop a sign up on your door.

How good is this place? Comfy, super friendly and easy to get to. Watching the staff interactions with the clientele was a pleasure. The girls behind the counter were clearly a joy to all who entered. Great stuff for first thing in the morning. I had the muesli and it was great , only reason it didn’t get 5 stars was cause I thought a tiny bit more would have been awesome. Coffee was good and extra strong as requested. I enjoyed the visit so much I stayed for an extra coffee. I’m all caffeinated and ready to roll. Yea hah!

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Its taken me & my partner a LONG time to find somewhere to eat out where we haven't been disappointed with the food and or service We love the atmosphere, the friendly staff & especially the food!! The soup was beautiful & the piece of toasted bread to go with it, as simple as it sounds, so delicious. I have not had a steak as mouth watering & tender as i have at the Billy Goat & every single bite of food on the entire plate is just delicious, including those little fried potatoes from heaven! Huge shout out to you all at the Billy Goat, we are locals & discovered you unfortunately only 6 months ago, we've been 4 times now & are so thankful we have finally found somewhere even remotely close to us, that is AMAZING Thank you so much!!

A delightful place either just for a night out or a special occasion. Small and intimate devoid of those menus and whine list that take an hour to read. The menu is influenced by seasonal produce locally sourced as is the wine list with both more than adequate for the discerning dinner. The service was great and the cost reasonable. We had a party of four and selected the grazing platters, Pork cutlets (2) and Fettuccine Squid (2)- all commented on how good their respective dishes were.. The talking point was the baby squid tentacles on the grazing plate - absolutely outstanding and unique. One tip - make sure you book in advance - I heard a number of diners trying to get a table on Saturday night turned away

I ordered the steak sandwich which I found absolutely delicious. The steak was juicy and tender, not chewy in the slightest, the other topping and sauces all combined perfectly to make an amazing sandwich. Although I thought it was a bit of a shame that it didn't come with any sides, but it was still worth it. Nice decor with a clean interior, although the music was a touch loud, if I visited again, I would choose to eat outside. In addition, the staff were friendly and accommodating.

Wanted to try this place for a while and was very happy with what my partner and myself received. Staff a very lovely, special mention to the chef who I assume is the owner (I could be wrong), he was so entertaining and full of life. I ordered the Big Garden and my partner Big Billy's. Both so delicious! The scrambled eggs were so buttery and fluffy, the potato roesti was so yum and their BGH beans were awesome! Definitely going to make this place a regular!

  • Julia Nance

A small and intimate space, but this is no downside. Billy Goat has a beautiful interior and there is some lovely outside seating as well. Milkshakes are perfect - with great flavour. My partner enjoyed the coffee too (I don't drink it, so can't comment). The food is good value for money too - it is beautiful and fresh, with decent serving sizes. With friendly and helpful staff, I haven't really ever seen a negative to this cafe - it is well worth a visit.

  • Iwona Babecka

I used to love this place. Breakfast was great and baked beans were fantastic. That was few years ago. Went there few weeks ago for Sunday breakfast . Guessing they've changed the recipe, because beans were nowhere near as good. And it was 1/3 of what it used to be? What happened? You pay $4 for a table spoon portion of beans . Bread was dry and to top it up my coffee had hair in it. Will not be going back. Service and food not the same.

  • Ashleigh Edwards

Horrible experience. First time coming to this cafe and will never come again. After having waited over 45 min, they forgot my meal. Secondly, we asked for no chilli in one of the meals - the meal came out insanely spicy and we couldn’t eat it. No apology or compensation for these mistakes after we kindly asked for it as a gesture of good faith. Disappointing to think we spent $165 in this place. Won’t be coming back.

  • Chris Edwards

Poor customer experience. Waited nearly an hour for first order of 4 mains only to have the 4th main being forgetten from the order. Subsequently, waited another 10mins for Risotto to be served. We expressed our displeasure with the service only to have management quickly respond with no discount or even apology for the slow and incorrect service! Overall, extremely disappointed and would not recommend.

  • Angela Bowater

Found my new fav cafe. Amazing coffee, most important aspect for me! Added bonus of lovely friendly efficient staff and great food and presentation. Reasonable price for the scrumptious muslie loaded with goodies and generous serving size. Cool ambiance. And high standard of cleanliness noted Happy lady after long nightshift!

Picture this, an empty cafe at 7:15am on a Sunday, I stop in for a coffee & a cake and am seated at a table, it is then insisted upon me that I only have 15mins by multiple staff or I have to leave as someone that booked may come in (at least 15 empty tables stare back at me). Cake & coffee were good, but I’m never ever going back.

Went there for dinner recently on a cold night and they had no heating so it was freezing. My eye fillet steak meal was lovely but my husband had the rack of lamb which was not a rack, only 3 cutlets which looked really fatty and were chewy. I think it would be a nicer place to go in warmer weather but I personally won't go there again. My husband was very disappointed.

We have been in Billy Goat Hill with six friends of mine today. We live in Melbourne and we have been there for cherry picking from a farm nearby. It was great experience! Billy Goat is such a nice local restaurant. Friendly staff, great music and lovely food. I had Regional Grazing plate, Eye fillet and glass of Shiraz. Highly recommended ! I give you five stars.

A great hidden treasure in Mt Evelyn. Brunch, Great coffee and milkshake with Forest mushrooms and hand cut potatoes with aoili to share were presented on beautiful rustic crockery. I love this place and their food. It's a compact menu, but has a good vegetarian option. I will be going back to sample dinner. I loved the detail to presentation. Thumbs up from me

I was informed by the waitress that the Thai beef salad is a popular dish. I ordered it and was not impressed unfortunately. It was not authentic. The flavour of the Thai salad dressing was not balanced and too strong. As if there was too much sesame oil and ginger that it was not enjoyable to taste. The cafe was popular among the local and service was good.

I have been there twice. The first time it was pretty good - innovative and interesting menu. The second time was really great - a group of 6 of us went in for afternoon tea and we had the grazing plate and various interesting drinks and more. It really impressed. Not cheap but still good - the chef really knows how to cook.

Best malt choc oat shake I've ever had!! Great little place, really thoughtful staff. We ordered a big breakfast to share and they logically halved it and gave us two plates. Every was really fresh and tasted great. Very clean. Lively atmosphere.

I ordered coffee and vegi roll. The coffee tasted okay but was too hot and not tamped properly. The vegi roll was tasty but was served luke-warm; it may have been colder because they where waiting for my wife's meal to cook. Service was succinct and I found the experience to be delightful. All in all I will visit again.

3.5 Anytime of the day .... One of the more trendier cafe in Mount Evelyn, they have a new owner (correct me if I'm wrong). Plenty on the Menu, creative kitchen, rustic presentation to complement all those timber interior elements and one of the better coffee around here. Some "home-made" souvenirs to take home too.

  • Harley Copping

GREAT COFFEE!! We had a lovely breakfast here (bacon, eggs, potato rosti and The Big Billy Breakfast) and the coffee was fantastic! The atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff a pleasure to deal with. If we are ever back in this neck of the woods we will be returning.

  • Gayle Mcintyre

Disappointing to say the least! Made a booking, arrived on time, sat there for 20 minutes and still no service. Young staff member continued to clean coffee machine. Not even asked if we'd like to start with a drink!! Poor form. We got up and walked out. Never again.

  • David Edgren

Went once before and loved the Billy Goat Eggs Benedict (with pulled beef). Went back and Eggs Benedict wasn't even on the breakfast menu (request only) and brisket was unavailable. Salmon was not the same. Lol. I can get that anywhere. Bring back the brisket!

  • Drew Chan

My partner and I have a lovely dinner here last Friday. Friendly and attentive staff. Food was a little slow to arrive but well worth the wait. I would describe my steak on mash with greens and a red wine jus as rustic, well seasoned and full of flavour.

With a premium cost you should get premium food. That was definitely the case with this place. A nice variety of options. Would definitely recommend. Oh they also support the local footy club and any place that supports others is a huge winner for me!

Nice cosy atmosphere, prompt and polite service. Busy around lunch time. Coffee was alright, and the food enjoyable, got the beef and Burgundy pot pie, was very nice, if not a bit too sweet. Chips were nice thick cut, and garlicky, a nice side.

Lovely service by the ladies behind the counter. My ham, cheese, tomato and seeded mustard toastie was delicious, but would have been easier to eat if cut in half and not attached to the serviette. Great coffee too!

Nice cosy clean cafe. Pleasant background music without the blarring sounds, you can actually talk without shouting and enjoy a nice breakfast. Good quality meals with plenty of variety. Staff pleasant and courtesy.

  • Nathan Wallace

Just an amazing atmosphere, excellent food, and hands down the best background musical playlist going on in any cafe I have been to. Top notch coffee and friendly staff. Has become our regular cafe over the years.
