From age-friendly cities to smart cities to sustainable cities, how we live together in urban spaces is on the public agenda in Montreal and around the world. But who are the citizens we imagine and imply by these terms? How can we work together to make the city a better and more inclusive place to grow old? B/OLD examines the experiences of aging in Montreal from a multidisciplinary, multisectoral and intergenerational perspective. We open the university’s doors widely to community activists, students, policymakers, the media and, most importantly, older adults themselves, inviting all participants to “be bold” and to embrace “old.” On May 16 and 17, B/OLD will present a number of exciting panels and keynotes at the De Sève Cinema. We have invited speakers from the city, the media, local community organizations and universities to discuss diverse topics that matter to older adults. What is an age-friendly city and how do we implement it in Montreal? What concerns do older adults have about housing, and how can we devise innovative solutions? How do older adults use digital technologies to explore their city? Our panelists and keynote speakers are ready to answer these and many more questions.
The Benefits of being in this Library is that it is close to the Metro Station. They also have a lot of good study rooms. Accessible features for all and have a great places to study. The library is clean and modern. Some Computers are down since they are not made to last that long. They should update and change that immediately. Also, I think they should let students who have friends or visitors not to study in the quiet area. Some students bring their friends into the quiet no talking study area and it bothers me because they talk and whisper and it distracts me. If they want they should study outside of that area or study at their residence. It is simpler and much better. All in All love the library it is the best library in the University system in my opinion. Hope to see changes and improvements in service, the building facility and changes to the future of the building environmentally and sustainbality.
I had the worst interview of my career here. I have a decade of library experience and when a temporary position came up, I thought the process was going to be fairly easy. That was not the case. I interviewed for a position at the library that was only a month long. You read that right, a MONTH only. Why couldn't they get an employee to do extra hours at this branch instead of wasting time and money interviewing external candidates? 5 people were in the room interviewing me. They asked me the toughest and degrading questions that I have never been asked in any interview before. All this work for a month-long temp position? I am so glad I didn't get the job here. I did my best to answer these questions honestly and sincerely. These managers are micro-managers and I can't imagine what working here is like if the interview was this bad.
Your best friend during midterms and finals. I've lost count how many hours I spent in this library studying with my friends. We would spend entire days here, from 7am to 7pm sometimes. We would get the nice booths on the 4th/5th floor and just stay there all day. We would bring blankets, coffee, snacks, etc... It's the best way to get a good spot at the library. Otherwise, if you want to reserve a private room, set up a recurring reservation every week, the rooms are usually free later on at night if you want to make sure you always get the same one. Those are also great but you can only keep them for 3 hours. Another thing I love to do is get your required textbook from the reserve section and then go up to the 4th floor and scan all the chapters you will need for the semester, free pdf of the textbook.
Beautiful space, well lit, lots of outlets and seating near windows but my word...When did libraries lose their designation as quiet spaces??? People are so inconsiderate and rude. It doesn't matter if you stage-whisper if your conversation is a full 45 minutes long!!! That's in the reading rooms, which aren't soundproof, despite what certain people seem to think. Good luck trying to concentrate in and around the stacks. Loud talking in groups or on cellphones is far too common. Make sure to bring ear plugs or full-charged earphones if you don't want to be bothered...Which you shouldn't have to do because there is an expectation of QUIET in a LIBRARY!!!!!
I recently visited the Concordia library and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. The facility is modern and well-maintained, with plenty of comfortable seating and state-of-the-art technology. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the collection of books and resources was vast and diverse. I especially appreciated the quiet study areas, which allowed for a productive and focused work session. Overall, I highly recommend the Concordia library to anyone in need of a top-notch research and study destination.
A big library with 5 floors. Lots of different spaces available for both individual and group studies. There is a separate space for graduate students, with a place to eat in the 5th floor. Many silent rooms available in every floor. A private room for a group can booked on the Concordia’s library web page based on the availability. Open 24 hours. Open for public till 11pm. Need to be associated with Concordia to stay after 11pm.
Crowded during the exams time, it would be difficult to find a place here! The place is clean and tidy! A part of 5th floor is reserved for graduate students where you need your ID card to access it. Study rooms are very quite. You can loan laptops, headphones, iPad, microprocessors (if you are a student of Concordia). This is my go to place!
I came here on a trip because of check-in time, and it's free for the public, clean, and full of seats. The second, third and fourth floors are all open libraries. Thanks to you, I was able to relax! You cannot use the Internet.
Beautiful library but has to be the noisiest library I've ever gone to with a severe lack of silence enforcement by library employees. Library users have no common sense, speak loudly on their phones wherever, and have no respect for fellow users looking to study in peace.
It’s run by students, but they’re very friendly and helpful and I really enjoy all interactions. In fact, in 20 years of dealing with concordia University I’ve never had a bad student interaction, but I have butted heads frequently with the student accounts office.
Perfect place for study. Has a very nice ambiance and facilities. Currently because of COVID its open for concordia students only and you have to pre-book your slot. Overall if you need a quit and good place to study this is the best place for you!!
The place itself is incredibly cozy and well designed. The only negative point is that you cannot find a quiet place to study because of students who talk loudly every where except the silent rooms. The security never goes around to notice them.
Very quiet with many desks to do your work, charge your phone, or procrastinate. Quiet with respectable students that whisper when they speak. Not allowed to eat inside the library and only spill proof containers for water is allowed
they dont have the book I need but its at the other concordia library this place is hell every book should be put online to be available for students to use. i gave this 1 star because the renovations have really up'd its game.
This library is great, opening 24h a day and it's available for everyone not only students of Concordia. I'm a McGill student and I spent most of my self-studying time here as it opens 24h and near my home.
One of the best places to study, learn or read. The facilities are the best and it's always a pleasant place. The vibes are the best @ Concordia library. It's a go-to place for any student in Montreal.
Great. But the LED lights in the ceiling are the worst. I like to use the computers and spend many hours doing homework there. The light is way too sharp and strong, I feel I need to wear sunglasses.
I come here frequently to study as I can reliable find a seat and the internet access is strong. I also have not experienced any noise related problems while in the larger study rooms.
Most beautiful library in MTL. Concordia Library >> McGill Library >>>> Polytechnique MTL. Concordia didn't fall into the trap of going too modern contemporary ugliness like PolyMTL.
The Library is so beautiful and anyone can actually enter. You only need to show your ID when loaning stuffs and maybe to use the computer systems but to study in there is possible.
One of the best libraries in Montreal. It's open 24 hours which is the best part. I enjoy my time here. There are good resources and books to read! I love this place
Very nice ambience, do recommend for private screenings and study sessions. Do not blast any form of explicit audio or content. Trust me, I learned it the hard way.
Very good library the place is big and there’s a lot of places where you can study so you don’t have to always worry about not being able to find a place to study.
do not study on the second floor or near the booths, because people talk the most over there. I would suggest a quiet room if you dont want any distractions
Beautiful renovated library, but very crowded during finals and midterms. Anyone can come here as it is. Or exclusive to Concordia's students
This is a great, modern, high tech library with excellent refernences and staff support. Definitely one of the best places I have studied.
Actually the best location in Montreal for any student to concentrate and study! Very busy during midterms and finals so get there early.
State of the art facilities, plethora of updated collections on numerous topics and extremely friendly staff available round the clock!
I went to the Center for Oral History of the Concordia University. There is no plan for engaging community members to the center.
This library is beautiful and is in the middle of downtown. There's computers but you will need your student login info.
Proud to be a CU Student. This library has all the facilities, amazing collection of books, and all sorts of resources.
Great place to spend few quiet hours a day. They made significant renovations that only make life easier for students.
Very modern, clean and opened 24/7 on Fall and Winter sessions. Peaceful place to study and enjoy your time . …
Great library, modern, friendly staff. Sometimes it gets really crowded but still its the place i like the most.
Beautiful library, though large doesn't count for the huge amount of students. Very loud even in quiet places.
Perfect for students as library provides perfect environment for readers. Also there are many resources too.
modern library, fancy facilities, nice environment to study and read a book. Can't ask more than that!
The stacks are easily accessible. A modern library of the 21st century, great ressources for research.
Quite place to study and read. Various books to choose from, many of which are pretty up-to-dated.
Very good place to study hard especially in silent rooms ;) It is always clean. THANK YOU staffs!
It has to be open 24/7 for all students, not just Concordia's. Because it's a public library.
Great library and resources however sometimes the computers are super slow and unresponsive.
Superb! I used to study all night long. Newly renovated. Perfect environment for studying.
Spent a lot time there in 2013 & 14. One of the most equipped and silent places for study.
Very crowdy but an excellent and peaceful place to study and operate anything. …
Lack of space during exam periods but the newly renovated floors are superb!
One of best place to study ... very friendly staff .. everything iss goooood
Its become impossible to book study rooms. Things are all full for months.
You need to be a student of university of Concordia to be able to access
Nice library.... would be cool to have more of these around.....
The type of library that you would see in a dystopian novel.
Under renovation, great place to study, open 24 hours
Webster library is a heaven in downtown of Montreal
Very nice place to study since they renovated it !
