*** DO NOT ACCEPT 8AM APPOINTMENT *** Very inconsiderate practice of setting all drop off appointments for 8AM. Expect to waste a lot of time. Upon arrival 10 minutes before my appointment time of 8am I realized PetSmart Banfield Pet Hospital wasn't open until 9am. There was already a group of at least 10 people waiting outside with their pet. I noticed a sign in front of the door directing me to call in if my appointment was before 9. Called in and was placed on hold for at least 5-7 minutes. When they finally answered they asked some basic questions and said they'd be out to get my dog asap. I was left out front with the mob of other people (group getting larger by the minute) while staff at turtle pace came out and took one pet at a time to be processed inside before returning for the next pet. My dog finally was taken in at 8:15 am. It is clear to me why Banfield made the choice to have all pets as early as possible. They are trying to insure they always have a pet for their vet(s) to work on and there is nolever any down time. Basically they're controlling labor cost at the expense of their client's time. I recommend to fellow patrons try avoiding 8am drop-off as you'll be stuck wasting your morning. This is the most inefficient method obviously put in place without thought of their client's time. Perhaps try to have Banfield schedule you at 9am after they've processed the multitude of 8am droloffs or perhaps avoid this place altogether opting for a company that cares about customer service. I recommend to Banfield, please consider staggering appointments so your clients aren't standing around outside while your staff struggles to process all of the morning clients that arrived all at one time. I think staggering appointments would streamline the process both both for the workers and the clients and eliminate the chance of a client having to sit outside waiting 25-30 minutes after their scheduled appointment time.

Our dog was stung on or in the mouth by a bee (I only saw his reaction and the bee after our dog backed away from it, so don’t know where it got him exactly), and in spite of the Benadryl tablet I gave him within 10 minutes of the sting, he began decompensate. About 15-20 minutes post sting, he was slinking his head and body closer to the ground and breathing strangely from his mouth instead of his nose. I grabbed him and rushed him to the closest vet clinic to our apartment which was Banfield. When I carried him in to their desk and told the girls there what had happened, they took him swiftly but gently to the back to let the doctor see him. The vet (Dr. Singer) was very kind and explained his situation, what she wanted to do for him (steroid injection and more Benadryl but injection form), and how much they would cost. I felt that even though they are not an emergency vet clinic, they saved my dog as well as an emergency clinic could have by taking him immediately and treating him promptly, and I’m so grateful. The ladies at the front desk were also very patient with me as I was definitely distracted and emotional while they were trying to get background info and when they were doing our check out.

NEVER, NEVER leave your dog on Banfield San Jose!!! They almost killed my dog!! I went on Banfield San Jose on April 7, because my dog was having some difficulty to breathe. she has a heart failure diagnosis. Dr Yu recommended an Xray and prescribed 2 medicines. but when Dr brought her back to me, my dog was almost dying. with much more difficult to breathe. Dr said that she was just stressed because the X ray. i brought her to home and she got worst. called banfield asking for the X rays and all the medical report that they had not provided to me. i went back to banfield 1 hour later but banfield was already closed. An employee on Pet smart suggested me to go to United Vet on Banfield. when i got there the vet said that my dog was about to die, and had to stay there with oxygen support. Fortunately my dog is ok now, but i had a $2,400 bill to pay on united because Dr Yu and all Banfield staff were irresponsible! AVOID BANFIELD SAN JOSE!!! UPDATING!! I lost my dog on beginning of August. And Banfield is charging me the health plan of a dead dog!!!! RIDICULOUS!!!! Banfield only thinks about money!!!

I cat began to have breathing issues and brought her to the Banfield Pet Hospital at 7:30 am. I was told the Vet doesn't arrive until 9 and I'll have to go to a vet hospital. Umm, okay. I thought I was at one. I was given a flyer for Sage all the way in Campbell. Once I arrived (20 min later in traffic), they immediately rushed my cat to the back while I completed registering. I waited less than 5 min and was escorted to a private room where the vet provided and update on my cat, treatment options. We were there 2 hours and was sent home looking much better. Within hours of being home my cat started mouth breathing again and having a tough time breathing. I went back to Banfield was there for two hours for x-rays and a prescription refill only to have my cat come home with difficulty breathing again. Kind of frustrated with Banfield at the moment. Especially when they followed up with a phone call today and I told them my cat had a tough night with breathing problems and not doing well this morning. She said "give your pet time recover from surgery". Huh??? Thanks for caring about my cat

I have had problems with this Banfield in the past and because they are so close to our apartment I decided to try them again. The tldr; this office does not know how to do health certs for international travel. Despite showing the front desk and them relaying the message to the doctor, they refuse to actually read the rules and fill out the certificate prior to 10 days prior and that puts us in a huge crunch because APHIS vets need to certify it in that time frame. Despite explaining the situation twice and even emailing them the links, they turned us away and rescheduled. I have always loved Banfields in the PNW but California Banfields have been incompetent and honestly unfriendly when it comes to doing anything out of the ordinary. Oh and additonally - every time my pet comes come after her nails have been done, she has jagged nails as if they have been using the same clippers for 10 years or something, they also never clip them short enough.

My review is for Dr. Do, Cam. She's great, for pets & vets I was told that they don't recommend doing a primary dr. because if the pet needs to be seen right away we'd have to schedule around that specific dr.'s schedule. But Dr. Do is so great we really don't mind, she's a quick thinker in regards to solving an issue with scheduling because my work schedule is hectic. My baby is still getting use to Dr. Do but Dr. Do is always as patient as she can be with her & us lol. Dr. Do is always explaining everything in depth making sure my husband & I understand, the other staff members are great too, they're always welcoming & always greet my baby by name, & do their best to be quick so that she doesn't get restless or get into it with other patients waiting to be seen. Because of my baby's specific breed Dr. Do has been great with recommendations as well.

Super rude phone experience, do you really care about pets? I don’t believe it, at least that lady who answered my call at 5pm on May 23rd doesn’t seem to care much. She put me on hold for 15min, and then just tell me she cannot do anything to help my pet, in a very cold voice, before asking if I have any accounts with Banfield, after I said I have account and willing to send pics to their email, she mentioned the email address in a fast speed and when I ask her to speak it or spell it to me so I can confirm the address, she said she has another patient and has to put me on hold, and I waited for another 5 min before I got so frustrated and dropped the phone. To be honest, I don’t know why I’m paying 50+ dollars per month for this kind of service! That lady definitely doesn’t care about my dog at all, even if that’s her only job!

We cannot recommend Dr. Singer and Banfield any higher. We brought our French Bulldog, Rue, here the first day we adopted her. We've been through a lot with Rue and Dr. Singer has always been right there advising us along the way. I've personally recommended many friends with pets to Dr. Singer but the reason we are writing this review is because on Sunday Dr. Singer and her team saved Rue's life. We were absolutely panicked and they talked us through the whole thing, told us exactly what to do, and showed a level of caring far beyond the scope of just their normal job responsibilities. If you're looking for a vet that is extremely experienced and knowledgeable and that will consistently go above and beyond for your pet I highly recommend D. Singer!

I do not recommend this Banfield. We took our dog to this Banfield rather than the other one in San Jose because he goes to petsmart camp and we figured it would be convenient. We have had nothing but issues. The staff is rude and I will say they are money hungry and charge for every little thing during the physical. We did tests we have paperwork for that they’re now saying we didn’t do so I cannot order my dogs script. They’re quoting us another $75 for a test we already did and tried to also double charge us for items during his physical as well. Stay clear and go to the other Banfield’s in town that have much better customer service and don’t try to rob you.

I recommend to family friends even a stranger BEST Their friendly n especially when I forgot my change they had 2 of their employees come look for me thank God I was mote excited abt my food it smell n taste excellent that they went out of their way to find instead of driving all the way back home n saying::"My Money I forgot the change??" Our puppy Friday is having diarrhea which worries us a lot. I called Banfield this morning, they are fully booked for today but they managed to help us by adding an extra slot at 4:30pm. Examinations and tests are done as scheduled. Dr. Suetching Yu called back, discussed the test results, gave me clear instructions on the medications, and patiently answered my questions. And all staff are super nice. The whole process took only 30 minutes. Thanks all Banfield staff for making this happen! Love you guys!

This place was really accommodating to the urgency that I had with my dog. They squeeze me in last minute when other band Fields were about two to a month week out and booked. The nurse who assisted me was very helpful bubbly and energetic which helped me keep my spirits up. So big thank you to her. Also they were a lot quicker than expected, and the doctor that called me was very informative and letting me know exactly what was going on.

Our first 2 visits were to Los Angeles branch and it was horible...Even doctor was pushing to sell us things and services,i am not even talking about nurses and assistance.... Main place to take my little ones for their check-up. Always great service from the Banfield part but had some bad customer service from a few employees stocking shelves in the main part of the store. One girl seemed upset for me interrupting her and a co-workers conversation. Even gave me an eye roll. Other than that I will keep coming back.

The two female receptionists were great! Both were very friendly and helpful to all the questions I had. It was my first time dropping off my 3 month old puppy and they seemed to have treated her very well. They even gave her a treat. I talked to the vet and she was nice too.

RUN! ~This place only care about your money!!! I went to this vet on 7/28/2020. They made short-sighted assumptions, over-treated my cat, claimed that he had congenital problems that didn't actually exist, constantly tried to trick me into overpaying for medication.

I don’t think this places cares about animals. A while back I spoke to an employee named Kaylie and she was really rude. I think management should retrain how to answer calls and how teach certain ones how to be more empathetic and patient.

I love Banfield but just wish I didn't have to go all the way to San Jose to get care for my babies. I live in Sunnyvale and I enjoyed going to the one in Sunnyvale and Mountain View because it's close. The staff members at the San Jose
