Brought a fractional gold coin there many moons ago that was worth around $700 spot and one of the employees offered me $135 dollars, as if he was doing me a favour. He had a smug look on his face and when I told him that I would sell it for 10% less than spot he told me that he couldn’t do that because “that’s what we pay”. I naturally refused and walked out. The place looked seedy and disreputable. I grew up in the area and there were never any pawn shops there before. I guess the East End is going downhill and I doubt that anyone there EVER collected gold that wasn’t cheap 12- or 14 carat junk. My advice is to go downtown or to the West End to long-established pawn shops where they don’t try to rip off customers.
Most horrible experience ever! Please never pawn any jewellery here! Their contract gives ZERO information on what will happen if you dont reclaim your jewellery within 30 days. When i tried to reclaim my necklace after 30 days they told me they dont know where it is!! That maybe it is sold or sent to the Fonderie to be melted. I almost had a heart attack. Finally when they did find it they wanted to charge me amost 3 tilmes the amount i was supposed to give back wirh the interest!! Never never again will i step foot in this place . They are dangerous and play mind ganes.
Contacted the store twice to confirm they had an item they were advertising. Even cancelled a purchase that morning. Two hour round trip metro from my place in the heat. Arrived: it wasn’t even in stock. Only reason I gave them 2 instead of 1 star is that they were apologetic and tried to find something else that might work instead. Very upset at the time cost/travel expense.
