It was a wonderful experience. Easy to find parking, well staffed, easy to follow paths with spots to stop and watch lights. The light display is breathtaking, and really well done. Features different scenes some Christmas related but good for all not religious in nature. Has a special touch and show feature for children with a purchase of a snowflake wand. Additional areas light up when you touch a wand to a squard pad throughout the display. Also a fun touch spirited adult beverages! You can purchase a shot of a spirit to put in any holiday beverage hot cocoa, apple cider, or coffee. Spirits are listed on signs. They were a little lacking on food choices compared to when ive been at previous events. There was 1 cute shop with fun some tacky seasonal buys. There were cute German glass ornaments featured however. Its definately better to buy your tickets online, with tax and fees its less savings then thought initially but you still save a few dollars. And you are quickly emailed a scan code fir quick access. Enjoy its definately worth going!

The park was beautiful. It looks new, as there is still some construction going on in some parts. I went for the CIAF, so there were activities for everyone there. There was plenty of free parking on a Friday after 3 when I visited. Looks like the outdoor parking is always available and there is a garage that I did not enter. There were plenty of outdoor restrooms, but I’m not sure if that was specifically for the festival or not. The pathways were nice, but the one I was on just ended with nowhere to go but back. I hope they connect to the other pathways in the future. I would definitely go back as it is a very peaceful area.

This park is beautiful, there are tons of walking trails, lakes, creeks, and plenty of open green space. Dog friendly with doggy bags placed throughout. It can get confusing since the trails go many different directions and you can get turned around pretty easily (a few are just loops but most twist and turn). However it's a lovely, free green space that's very clean and great to get out and get fresh air. They also hold regular events on the weekends. Parking is free and abundant around the Wells Fargo building.

Beautiful repurposed space. Used to be a gplf course (that I'd played multiple times) and to see this area getting used for recreation rather than getting torn down and paved over for more corporate buildings is refreshing. Really hoping the temporary disc golf course is made permanent, and that this green space is made available for years to come!
Dog-friendliness
Dogs allowed, encouraged even.
Picnic area
Plenty of space for a picnic.

Totally enjoyed this park! The art instillation, Architects of Air by Alan Parkinson, was really neat as you can see in my photos. There were different art experiences to interact with and a cute coffee truck called Mud + McQueen with unique coffee flavors. The park is dog friendly and a great space to picnic. I can't wait to visit again!

We enjoyed our visit. Lots and lots and lots of lights! Each section was well done and full of Christmas spirit. Fun for kids and adults, there were hot refreshments and a nice little gift shop. The lighting company that set this up did a very good job. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will visit here again!

Beautiful, relaxing, convenient, and clean. Excellent location for community events and family outings. Presently, small stage but future plans for the enlargement of the performance area is exciting. Plenty of parking available and shaded areas for folding chairs.
Picnic area
A few picnic tables available.

  • Bhakta Katuwal

We went for christmas lights spectacular with my two little kids. It was a great experience. I loved the decoration and the lights
Playground
The playground was filled with christmas lights.
Restrooms
They had temporary restrooms in different locations and it was good arrangement.

  • Arina Leo

The Christmas lights are amazing! It was crowded, there were some vendors, food trucks and music Good place to spend time with friends and family
Dog-friendliness
A lot of walking space and dog trash cans
Picnic area
The park is a picnic area when there are no events

There have been 2 different light/balloon shows there so far this year . I've enjoyed it both times. We ate at the wonderful tacos each time..as a matter of fact it's my favorite taco shop in town! Love that Charlotte arts festivals are taking advantage of this beautiful place!

For those not from the area, Backyard Ballantyne is an old golf course, aka mud pit after any rain. Lots of lights not working and very small experience for the price. Bathroom situation is terrible. If you don't pay VIP your options are dark isolated Porta potties.

  • Kaitlyn Underwood (Katie)

We went for a wine and whiskey event. There was lots of space for the plenty of vendors and even states for performances. They had a vip tent and food trucks. The reason for the 4 stars is the parking. I feel like for such a big space, there wasn't enough parking.

  • manoj Menon

Right next to my office building it’s a green oasis! It used to a golf course. Now converted into an open ground where there are seasonal events and exhibits. Sharing some pictures from the Christmas illuminations. This is from Dec 2022. This was a paid entry.

  • Brady Parker

Heated bathrooms with running water for VIP patrons only. It ended with a food court and store targeting children. For $15 a person you would think they would let us wash are hands after urinating. Great example of have and have nots(the great divide)?

Perfect (and peacefull) place for spending evening with family n kids. Lot of organized activities too. Market@11 is probably one of the best. They have few picnic spots, sand pits, acres of grass field, and walkways for walking biking.

  • Mema G

Lovely afternoon with a wide variety of vendors. On Oct. 8. There were Too many people for the limited food vendors. For example, 30 people on line for pizza, and it's only a truck. Not a full kitchen, so long wait. Also, many vendors

  • Anu Joseph

Went here during charlotteartsfest and the park was filled with cool interactive photo areas and all sorts of things to do with family and friends. If you are in the area before Oct 1st go check out the fun, goes on until then

  • Tom Pop

Was a great day to relax in the grass have a couple beers and food from the vendors. Great park that changed from golf course. I heard the summer time is a bit hot out there but looking forward to more fall events there.

  • Lana Decker

Holiday Lights Spectacular is now in progress. They have a few food tracks and gift vendors, plenty of activities for kids and a couple of bars and happy campers dispensery for grown ups. Plenty of free and easy parking.

  • Myo Z Oo

Perfect place for spending evening with family n kids. Lot of organized activities too. is probably one of the best. They have few picnic spots, sand pits, acres of grass field, and walkways for walking biking.

  • David Nations

A hot September day, but very lively and fun. Great food truck and vendor selection and a good-sounding band. Too many unmasked idiots, but I kept mine on and enjoyed myself. The park is huge and very clean.

  • Marty Helms

Former golf course turned into a park, kids can play in old sand traps, catch and release fishing in ponds. Second weekend of every month is food trucks and craft vendors. Great place to spend some time

  • Johnny Robinson

A bit overpriced for the offering, but still a bit of quick fun. Took about 30 min to walk through and we had 5:30p tickets at opening and it was fairly crowded. It could take longer on weekends.

  • Traveling Troop

Lovely space for so much fun and activity! We visited for the Arts Festival and were amazed at how spacious this area was. It’s a beautiful walk through this area that we’d love to visit again.

  • Sherry Garvey

The Carolina light spectacular was terrible, it was very muddy no wear to walk to keep from getting in the MUD. Would request my money back if I could get in touch with anyone from this event.

  • J

An interesting spot for an "international art festival" while the art that was there was cool the festival needed more and they need to do away with the sand pits from the old golf course.

  • Amanda Reed

So nice. We went to an Art Festival here. We got to walk around and look at so many neat things and so much interesting artwork. It's was really cool. We had fun! Great day out!

  • Zachary Hawke

The is a great place to catch an event. We went for the Carolina Holiday Light Spectacular and we’re blown away by the work and design. Can’t wait to go back next year!

  • Senthil

Nice place to spend time with family and friends. Art festival was on and its great. There is a plenty of free parking available opposite parking lot.

  • Peter

Golf course turned into green space for walking, running, biking and fishing. Parking and access at the roundabout circle by the Wells Fargo building.

  • Bob Bretz

Beautiful wide open spaces. Plenty of space for picnicking, walking the dog, walking and riding. Food trucks on alternate Saturdays. Free parking.

  • George B

International art fest was on. Loved the luminarium...looks so so outside but inside fantastic. Dinosaur puppets great. Inflatable art awesome.

  • Ankit Chainani

Our go to park for walk . Lot of construction going on nearby, still a part of its really secluded and good for public use

  • Ruth Freeman

This was a lot of fun, great for families too. Be sure to bring your own wine or spritzers, only beer was sold there.

  • Kate Collins

Need posted direction signs once you enter. There is no way to tell where you are going. Restroom was also locked!
