Probably won't be back, although there were things we liked and we really wanted to enjoy this place. Things we liked: -Loved the English decor and theme. There's pictures on the wall and designs- like the Underground sign and British beer logos. -Loved the decor and space and lights. There's so much space inside - very big restaurant with lots of seating. Rustic decor. Loved the outdoor area with string lights and lots of trees. -Loved all the game tables they have everywhere and they have a pool table and billiards. -Waiters are laid back and friendly. When we entered the restaurant it seemed like it'd be a great place to relax, hang out, and socialize. But it was very empty. There were people on the outdoor patio, but indoors was empty. And we went at 10pm. Things we didn't like: -I got a Reuben sandwich and waffle fries. The waffle fries were cold and stale and the Reuben was so-so. Not really good thick cut pastrami - very thin. But the sandwich tasted okay. -My husband got a classic burger and it was okay. Nothing too special, but tasted alright. His fries were hot and better than mine. Probably could have gotten the meal from Whataburger though for cheaper and same quality. -The waiters were loud and kind of foul mouthed. That may not bother everyone though. Kind of unprofessional. But it's a very laid back place. -My husband has been a chef and seen how restaurants are run and he said they broke many restaurant rules, like pointing at customers, yelling across the restaurant, using foul language, sitting folding napkins and silverware in the dining area, etc. -They seemed very slow, especially for how not busy it was. Took a while to get food and had to wait forever for the waiter to come get our receipt and card to pay - finally got up and went to the front to pay. There's better places in Austin downtown so we'll probably go there to search for a good bar next time we're in the mood for bar food and drinks.

Just not good. There's a reason on a Saturday night during prime dinner hours it's 3/4 empty, even with a Cowboys game on. Service was fine. We had the fish and chips. The only positive was the fish was very hot. But it was not great. Tough. Lacking on flavor. How do you make fish tough? The breading in some places was 3/4 inch thick. Felt very much like it had been frozen for months and while frozen had simply given up on being food The "seasoned fries" we're bland, half soggy, and room temp. If an Irish pub can't do fish and chips what else is there? The menu was laminated and greasy to the touch. I love a good drink with my meal but the laminated drink menu looked like it hadn't been updated since 1988. The only positive is that unlike some places they kept the TV sound to a reasonable level. We could hear the game but we could also talk to each other without yelling. This is one of those chains that can exist in bland suburbs but this is Austin. And this is South Lamar. We can and should do better.

Used to LOVE this place. Great amount of indoor/outdoor space, plenty of TVs to watch sports, reasonable prices. Until today (a Saturday), when I rounded up a group of friends to go watch an early (11am) football game. We were there for 4-5 hours and not ONCE did a server come up to our table to ask if we needed anything. We legit had to hunt someone down every time we needed something (sometimes asking twice for things because the staff was too busy vaping or smoking in a corner). A couple of times, we couldn’t find a server/bartender inside or outside. Mind you, there were MAYBE 10-15 patrons total between the patio and inside. I’ve spent my fair share in the service industry and I would’ve been waiting on every single customer/table of customers to ensure good service and collect a nice tip. Complete lack of attention and effort. Unfortunately, y’all lost 5-6 customers that previously saw your establishment as a staple “go-to”.

An astoundingly overrated Austin institution. I know Baker Street is an Austin landmark, but I found it wanting in every (no hyperbole) aspect. The interior was dingy, poorly lit, uninviting and where illuminated - furnished leftovers from bankrupt Bennigans. The bathrooms reeked and were unclean. The floors are sticky throughout the establishment. The service is abysmal, with only receiving a surly nod and grunt from the bartender. We ordered their signature fish and chips, and although the fish was good quality, the breading was lousy and fried in old oil which gave me indigestion for the rest of the day. The chips were soggy, limp and cold. Worst of all - again no hyperbole - was their amateurish, Walmart style beer list. I expect when I go to an English pub to have a wide and thorough selection of draft beers, but instead, Baker Street has the beer selection of a Chili's. In fact, I would much rather patronize Chili's than this hollow joke of an Austin landmark.

If I could give the service here a zero I would! The guy working behind the bar with a ponytail on karaoke night was the rudest most aggressive person! I asked at the bar where I could order food and he yelled at me that he would take my order but wouldn’t bring it over to me and I would have to come collect it, I asked where a better place would be to order and he actually walked away and served another customer. I left the bar and asked my boyfriend to order and he had the exact same experience, however this time the bartender swore at him as well? I have worked in hospitality for 10 years and have never encountered this! Maybe the bartender is a nepotism hire or an owner of some sort? Won’t be coming back so don’t care, chicken was good.

I used to root for this place but lately service is really inconsistent. I just went in on a slow Tuesday around 5:30 and sat at the bar for nearly 30 minutes trying to get someone's attention to order food. Finally the bartender came over not to take my order, but to tell me that he was leaving and I needed to close my tab. I asked if he could just put in a food order for me and he said no, I would have to wait for the next person to come and open a new tab with them. I waited another 5-10 minutes or so trying to get someone's attention (the bartender I closed my tab with was still there working the bar) before deciding I didn't want the food that badly and just walking out. Unfortunately I've had similar experiences a few times now, I think I'm about done with Baker Street Pub.

We are always fans of Fish & Chips and this place serves some amazing food. It was a nice evening so we sat outside on the large patio which also welcomes dogs. The service was just as good as we remembered as well as the food. Between us, we ordered the - Fish & Chips: This is why we come here, for this meal... These pieces of fish are huge, not little nuggets. They deep fry these with a yummy beer batter and serve it with a really nice tartar sauce. The fish is thick and flaky - we love it! - London Platter: Comes with their famous fish deep fried in an amazing beer batter and popcorn shrimp. Only complaint is that you only get 1 piece of fish. -Zucchini Fries: Deep fried spears of zucchini served with Ranch dressing. Good. -Sweet Potato Fries: Perfectly fried and delicious! If you have not been here yet, check it out!

My mom has neuropathy. It is severe. Unfortunately she tripped on the non level porch. After the embarrassing event I and my dad helped her up. We sat at the bar and were about to order drinks. Our entire party of 4 was refused service adding to the embarrassment. My mom stated she had neuropathy and the bartender said, my manager stated I can't serve any of you. We passed the manager and we were all visibly upset with my mom now crying. He had no idea what had just happened (so he must not have given the bartender such instructions). He agreed the boards were not even which would make it non compliant with ADA. The manger, after talking to us, determined we were not drunk and offered to allow us to come in, at which my mom said no. The damage had been done and taken its toll.

Absolutely great staff. I am te Organizer of a Meetup group called It's Boomertime and we attend this venue every weekend. The awesome manager Brandon and staff are so professional, attentive, and friendly to us. The place is beautiful, clean, and safe. Brandon, Nick, Cliff and staff run a perfect business and make us feel so special and welcoming. The selection of live music such as Dysfunkshun Junkshun, TCole and Austin Party Band, Cap City, Uptown Drive , Austin Nines and more babds keep us dancing long hours. The Boomers love Baker Street Pub and Grill South Lamar.... we really appreciate Brandon and staff. Thank you very much

I've been here before however it was several years ago. Back then place was packed and always had a wait. This night on a Saturday around 8pm it was pretty quiet. The Fish and Chips is probably the star of the menu because it does not disappoint. Sadly we had to cut our dinner short because at 9pm, it's 21 and up. But I don't recall seeing this anywhere on the website or doors. Not family friendly after 9pm. *Added Info : We were approached at our table by an employee telling us we had to leave around 9pm because of the 21yr old requirement. So we ate and left.

Nice atmosphere inside with muted colors, wood and to me a British pub feel. Always order fish & chips here. The fish fillets are batter dipped; food arrives hot & crunchy with a good size portion of chips. Must mention my husband didn't like the fish he got this time, but my portion was good. Somewhat pricy at 10.99 for 1 or 14.99 for 2 fillets and you receive nothing else with them, like a salad or slaw. Understand there is a better deal for lunch, but got in 18 min too late to get it... Had a cup of the potato soup: it was tasty & topped with bacon & cheese. Waitress was efficient once she finally brought us menus, but not friendly. I doubt we fit the normal patron image.

I always enjoy having lunch here during the week. It's never overly crowded so I have never had to wait for a table and the restaurant is always cool and dark. They have some really interesting decor to take in as well. You can't beat the lunch portion of their staple fish & chips which is as filling as dinner portions at other restaurants. The staff here has always been very friendly and accommodating which is a big plus. My buddy had the grilled chicken, veggies and salad and he couldn't say enough good things about his meal. Bonus points for being right next door to Half Price Books so I always sneak in there for a few minutes after lunch.

The trivia nights are great! Edit: came in on a Tuesday, quarter to 11. No bartender at outside bar. About 1/4 of the tables have people outside. I'm standing around waiting and ask a passing server how late the kitchen is open. He says til midnight. Doesn't ask if I need anything though I'm clearly standing at an empty bar. Fine, I'll go inside, I guess that's how it's working tonight. Nope, bartender inside looks at me as I walk up and then disappears into the kitchen. Rude as heck, I don't get it.

To start, Ella, our waitress was INCREDIBLE. Just the sweetest. I hadn't been to this pub before because I normally go to a different one further North. However, she recommended the fish and chips, saying that they were the best.... And honestly? I can't argue. They were absolutely delicious, and perfectly breaded and crispy. Baker's is definitely going to be a new staple for me. (But in secret; I feel like a traitor; don't tell my other pub!) Thanks Ella for taking care of my colleagues and I! You were phenomenal and took such good care of us. Cheers!

Fun vibes with outstanding service! The fish and chips were amazing! Super crispy delicious Atlantic cod -10 out of 10 stars- a must try. The homemade tartar sauce blew us away. The burger was fantastic- very flavorful and though cooked well done was juicy. Make sure you save room because you don’t want to miss their bread pudding and homemade ice cream.

Been going here for a year now and it's a blast to visit every time. They have a so many choices in beer and drink selections that you cannot keep a straight thought in your head when trying to place and order. So I suggest you saddle up and make sure you grab their menu on your phone before going over to this place. There is a lot to choose from and who doesn't like a happy hour ? It's the kind of happy hour even Jesus would be proud of. So do yourself a favor and when you find yourself feeling thirsty or hungry stop by Baker Street Pub & Grill.

  • Aubrie Perez

I love the vibe of this place! The service is always good, best fries down South Lamar and a great drink selection! My boyfriend loves the burgers and the people are always so nice! My only critique is there are no Vegan/Vegetarian options. I literally eat fries when I come here. That's it. Y'all used to have an "Impossible burger" on the menu but I was dissapointed to learn it is not an Impossible burger, but a veggie patty that includes egg. Expand the menu to add more veggie friendly items and I'll be here with all my friends weekly!

  • Daniel Taylor

This is an update to the review, this place has changed quite a bit, the atmosphere went from sherlock holmes home to a restaurant-bar near sherlocks home, the light is too bright inside and it now feels like a generic sports bar, they painted grey the most of their original beautiful wood walls?! . Many menu favorites are no longer there (sweet potato fries among others) they changed management apparently so that explains many things. Bingo night have been gone for a long time :-/ oh well... it does not feel elementary my dear Watson.

Found this place a couple of years ago while looking for a place to watch soccer. It turned out Baker St. had a whole lot more to offer. It's a great bar with plenty of space (indoor & out). The staff is great! Decent beer selection on tap. There are a couple of pool tables and they have great live music in the evenings.

If you want to feel disrespected this is the place for you! I work in advertising and just wanted to talk to someone about helping Baker Street actually have people there at lunch. Its dead and i wanted to help them out. I didn't feel welcome there at all. The bartender made me feel harassed. When I reported it to management he was defensive and said it was just a joke. The service has been bad several times when I went in as a customer. Now as a professional i am a joke? I cried when i left.

Great pub food and service. Only thing I do NOT recommend to order is their New Grilled Salmon Salad because it does not look anything like the picture.. they shred the salmon to pieces instead of a whole slice, almost looked liked it came out of a canned tuna or cat food. Tasted ok but very disappointed.

Large sports bar with a large outdoor area. First off, the waitress K pop was amazing! She was the only waitress and she probably had 10 or 12 tables both inside and out. The manager did help deliver food and drink. I ordered a salad and Buffalo style wings. The salad was only $2.99, but was large and had a variety of vegetables. The wings were excellent. Good size, crunchy, juicy and good heat. There are two pool tables and a video golf game. We will be back..

Management clearly does not care about customers. I went in last week and the server greeted us briefly at our table and then never came back. We waited 15 minutes and watched him greet other tables who arrived after us that he appeared to be friends with. We left and went to black sheep lodge which had great service. I wrote an email to baker street to let them know of my experience bc I’m not one to jump to writing reviews, but they never even responded.

Had a good time out for the1st time in a while with a new found friend. The Band for the night was doing a long and overly involved loudish soundcheck at 8pm on a Saturday. And from what I know these these should be done around 4 5 6 ish o clock before the night's pub rush comes in. It was still too loud for such an expansive space and my friend and I moved outside where we had a delightful time. The food was so yummy good. I just had a ginger ale.

  • Shock Proof

Such a great pub, designed right and always popular bands. Just a suggestion, but man players, play your chops all out. No holds bared. I really hope that the patrons tip the bartenders and wait staff well. They deserve it and they work hard for their customers. Please leave Good tips. I worked at a club going to college, we work hard and smart. The AC may need an upgrade, wear layered clothes if you're going to dance all night. See you there soon.

Decided to try this place for lunch bc I was next door at half priced book. The food was amazing, rarely do I finish my plate without taking food home. Loved the atmosphere and our waitress Nicole was the sweetest waitress I’ve seen in this state, you can tell she cares about serving the customer properly, between her and the cook, it’s a no brainer to eat here.

This place is a good neighborhood bar and restaurant. It does get crowded and yes I have seen slow service eve when it’s not busy. But to anyone who has had bad and/or slow service let’s cut everyone some slack. This has been a very hard couple of years with covid. Some places are just barely hanging on and I have no doubt everyone is short staffed. Grace, kindness, it goes a long way. Let’s give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

This place is so great to meet up with friends! Their patio is pretty cool and big too..perfect for Austin weather and outdoor lovers. The drinks on perfectly mixed. The food is also very good. I've tried their burgers and they never fail to satisfy my hunger and at the same time leave me wanting more. They have live music inside sometimes and the artists are always great..they bring such a good vibe to the place!

Not too crowded, great food, and decent service! I got the wagyu burger, and it was my first time having wagyu beef so I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. My only complaint is that I had to get my half lemonade half tea from the bartender because my server set it down and forgot about it. Otherwise, he was nice and accommodating, and everything was all good!

Dude the people who work here are super nice. If you're a patient and relaxed individual this is your prime bar. A place for thinkers and drinkers. Everything from the musty book smell to the dark dingy wooden interior give this place a dive bar pub style setting unmatched in the rest of Austin thanks for the daytime bartender being so open and nice. Lovely place for an evening whisky.

so good! the atmosphere is really nice and quaint and the food is great. my partner and i visited back at the beginning of December or so; we got the trio as a starter, they got the bangers and mash special, and i got the fish and chips, which were to die for. i’m new to the area, so i’m beyond happy i found a spot that has delicious fish and chips! overall, not too pricy, either!

Two of us went there for lunch, and it was mostly pretty good. The fried pickles tasted good; the dressing that went with them was very hot. The Shepard's pie was very tasty. Came with a side. We both picked the green beans. Just right for one of us, too greasy for the other. Service was slow, but there was just one server, so I don't blame her.

Went with a large group to celebrate a friend's milestone in life. Staff were very nice, accommodating, and organized. The food is always incredible and just keeps improving I think. Some items on the menu may not be available. Ask your waiter to see if what you're interested in is available!

Great food and service. Our server Nick was super attentive and made sure we got everything we needed. Loved the fish and chips- I could tell it was crisp and made to order.

Wonderful place. Full of music and good vibes. I'm always " Darting " around Austin ( ha , get it. Because I'm a dart player lol) and Bakers has a nice set up! I went to the one in Houston all the time and this place matches the vibes all the way. Good food and really chill staff!

  • Cynthia McAuley

I always love coming here. Service is usually great. We ordered the fish and chips this time to share and they split it for us! Nice patio and they have bar games like pool and darts. Occasionally events go on here like comedy shows and trivia. Fun place to hang out with friends.

I didn't know that many Brown's fans existed outside of Ohio. Lol (love Cleveland, awesome city!) Love the atmosphere. Sherlock Holmes is one of my faves! Will definitely take anyone who visits me there.

It's a great date night for my boyfriend and I. Since we don't go out a lot due to our work schedules. Great place to relax and unwind. Plus they always have events going on so you never miss anything. All around fun place!

Baker street is so fun! Heads up, parking fills up quickly. Live band is always quite good, plenty of TV's (even during March madness), and the bar staff is awesome. Gotta go!

Good food, decent beer selection, but the waitress told me to ignore the beers she didn't know anything about. Decor is nice; definitely a cozy place. Back to the beer...shouldn't you serve imperial pints instead of American pints if the theme of the restaurant is English?

  • Sam Fragapane

tasty food, good draft beer, great bartenders & solid atmosphere! Would give 5 starts but $12 for 4 small mozzarella sticks is a tragedy.

The food at Baker Street is jaw dropping amazing. Ella is the coolest server ever, and I've worked in the restaurant business for 26 years. They had my favorite beer that they never sell anywhere in this Austin, Smith wicks, and it didn't break the budget. 10 out of 10.

  • S Miller

As always the pub is great. The burgers are grand, the fries are crispy yet soft and the service is good. Prices are fair, beer selection is good and the bartenders are friendly. Parking is convenient and if the weather is nice the patio calls your name for good reason.

I'm giving this place 5 stars because it's one of the few places open late where you can get food and drinks late at night. The draft beer options are plenty along with cocktails. A true bar and grill.

Love this place! Laid back - neighborhood bar vibe, will always be back for the fish and chips or a nightcap…sometimes both. The salads are also delicious. Outside patio is definitely where’s its at, great space and our bartender, Shelby, was awesome!

  • Vinnie T

Plenty of room and seating. Service is friendly but slow almost every time I've been. Love the environment however. Food has been very good so far. Fish and chips are pretty much my recommendation here. The bacon wrapped chicken appetizer is not.

  • Sage Granger

Loving the new remodel and earlier opening hours! A great place to get lunch and the locally famous Fish and Chips are awesome. Wednesday Trivia and Thursday Live Karaoke are definitely not to be missed and the environment is relaxed and cozy.

  • Samantha Marshall

Do NOT come here for the food. Bland and poor quality for the price. BUT their happy hour is amazing, from 2-9om, and they have great drink prices. Huge outdoor patio, dog friendly, and you can find some good music here sometimes. The live

Ordered to go online, added instructions which they followed through. Order was ready upon arrival. They have the best fish and chips, in my opinion. Totally fulfilling! Goes well with their packed vinegar and homemade tartar sauce …

  • Roy Lee Buchanan

Quality and consistancy of the food is average to poor. The kitchen should not send out burned product, and attempt to have the servers cover for their lack of training. Beer on tap occasionally is fouled by lines that lack regular

Baker St. is the best low-key bar/pub/restaurant vibe in town. Amazing staff! Great music. Chill vibe. It was the filming location for “Office Space” w/ Jennifer Aniston!! Remember “Chachkis” or whatever… that’s the place!!

I really enjoyed my Thursday Burger special!! $5.00 Huge burger, loads of great toppings Pretzel bites we're delicious too Queso and German mustard were perfect pairings Friendly staff I had a Harp Irish Lager!!

Honestly the best neighborhood bar in town. Love coming here. Great vibes. Good people. Jade is the best bartender. She makes me feel at home. It's the reason I stay in Austin. …
