On a Monday evening, 24 JUL, my wife and I visited B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC at The Power & Light District to watch the movie "Oppenheimer." The establishment boasts an amazing interior with direct access to the bar area of the adjacent Johnnie's Jazz Bar & Grille. The theater is reserved seating, providing a comfortable movie-watching experience. However, my overall experience was marred by the lackluster staff and disappointing food offerings. Ambience and Amenities: B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC has an impressive ambience that creates a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The convenience of having access to a bar area allows patrons to enhance their movie experience with drinks and socializing. The reserved seating option ensures that moviegoers can select their preferred seats in advance, making it easy to plan and enjoy the movie without worrying about finding a good spot. Staff and Service: Unfortunately, my experience with the staff at B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC was less than satisfactory. The biggest disappointment was the lack of attentiveness and professionalism displayed by the staff behind the counter. During my visit, I noticed some employees preoccupied with their phones and seemingly disinterested in assisting customers promptly. To make matters worse, the staff seemed disorganized when it came to handling food orders. After waiting for an hour, I discovered my food sitting under a heat lamp, evidently forgotten by the staff who after ten minutes of Initially waiting, ensured they would bring it to our seat as they could not find the chief. One staff member even displayed anger while trying to locate her missing personal white claws in the refrigerator located in the kitchen. It was very odd. Food Quality and Value: The food offerings at B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC did not live up to expectations. The popcorn, is lackluster, never fresh or hot during the four times I visited. The soft pretzel and funnel cake fries were equally underwhelming, lacking the flavor and quality that one would expect at a movie theater. The fact that my food was left under a warming light for an extended period further diminished the value of the already subpar offerings. As there are several food options available around the theater's location, I would advise patrons not to waste their time or money on the food served at B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC. Exploring nearby restaurants or eateries would likely offer a more satisfying dining experience. Restrooms: A noted observation of the restrooms is they seem to always be in a generally poor state, this is an observation that spans across my four visits. On 24 July, I was greeted with an overwhelming odor that indicated a lack of proper maintenance and cleanliness. The floors were sticky, and the soap dispensers were empty, making it impossible to practice proper hygiene. The state of the restrooms at B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC was far from acceptable. Clean and well-maintained bathrooms are not only a basic expectation but also a reflection of the establishment's commitment to providing a quality experience for its customers. Regrettably, in this regard, B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC failed to meet expectations. Overall: B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC at The Power & Light District has the potential to be a great movie-watching destination with its appealing ambience and reserved seating options. However, the disappointing staff service and lackluster food offerings were major drawbacks during my visit. The unprofessional behavior of some staff members left a lasting negative impression. For those seeking a top-notch movie experience with attentive staff and better food options, it might be worth considering other theaters in the area. While B&B Theatres Mainstreet KC has some positive aspects, improvements in management and food quality are necessary to elevate the overall experience for moviegoers

B&b Theatres is a chain of movie theaters that offers a great movie-going experience. One of the standout features of B&b Theatres is the comfortable seats with butt warmers. The butt warmers are a luxurious touch that adds to the overall experience of watching a movie in one of their theaters. The warmers keep you comfortable during the colder months and make for a cozy and enjoyable experience. Another great feature of B&b Theatres is the wide selection of movies that they offer. From the latest blockbusters to independent films, there is something for everyone. The theaters also offer special showings of classic films and other special events, which are a great way to enjoy a night out with friends or family. And of course, the butt warmers make it all the more enjoyable. In addition to the great selection of movies, B&b Theatres also offer delicious snacks and drinks. They have a wide variety of options, including popcorn, candy, and soda, as well as beer and wine for those who want to enjoy an adult beverage with their movie. You can enjoy your snacks and drinks in the comfort of your seat with the added luxury of the butt warmers. Another aspect that sets B&b Theatres apart from other movie theaters is their customer service. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they always go above and beyond to make sure that guests have an enjoyable experience. Whether it's helping you find your seat or answering your questions about the movie, the staff is always willing to help. And, of course, they will make sure to turn on the butt warmers for you if you ask. B&b Theatres also offer special amenities, such as 3D and IMAX showings, which take the movie experience to the next level. The theaters also have comfortable lounges where you can relax before or after your movie, as well as arcade games and other activities for kids and families. And, of course, you can enjoy all of these amenities while sitting in a comfortable seat with a butt warmer. Overall, B&b Theatres is a great destination for anyone who loves movies. The theaters offer a wide selection of movies, delicious snacks and drinks, excellent customer service, and special amenities that make for a great experience. And, of course, the added luxury of the butt warmers in every seat is the icing on the cake. Whether you are looking for a fun night out with friends or a family outing, B&b Theatres is definitely worth a visit.

My partner and I have been having dates at this theater for the 4 years we have been together. Not as often with a baby so we were very excited to have childcare and see a movie 8/12/2022. We bought tickets ahead of time at dinner and then went to the theater. Upon arriving we walked through the circle and stepped to the left bc I wanted a selfie since we barely have pics together, all pics are of that cute baby I mentioned. As we were trying to take a picture a security guard approached us questioning if we had tickets. I said we did. He then said we need to go check in at the food counter. I am confused as to why we weren’t allowed to finish taking a picture. I was not ready to order so I stayed further back and he came and stood by us. He made me feel extremely uncomfortable and I couldn’t help but wonder if this was bc my partner was black. This is certainly not an experience I have had here or anywhere . . We quickly ordered and moved along. We got our Icees and then he was there again as we were walking in. I can’t imagine why we needed more attention from you security than the entire bar of ppl of drinking. . We watch the movie, it’s great. Then we are leaving and as I’m walking to the door to exit the theater the same security guard was walking by and then made a b-line to us as we stepped out. I reluctantly left my partner in the commons as I used the bathroom and as we left He made sure to keep an eye on us. I am angry that a place so central to Kansas City would allow their patrons to be stalked by security with literally no reason. That man’s bias was very evident and he is the kind of person to cause situations to escalate. We walked in happy and within minutes we were anxious and uncomfortable in your establishment.

I was really looking forward to the opening of this theater for a long time ever since Alamo closed down. I’m really not one to complain, but this was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a movie theater, ever. It’s really unclear where you buy tickets, or if bought online if you’re supposed to show them to someone before walking to the theater. That wasn’t a huge deal, so we went to get popcorn and a drink, I had to repeat my phone number 3 times to the cashier who appeared to be high or something, we then got the worst popcorn I’ve ever had, it was so burnt. We got to the theater and it was so hot, so I had to get up and go find someone and ask them to turn the temperature down. Next, and most annoying of all, the video quality was so terrible, it looked like we were watching a bootleg version of the film, the quality was so bad, the words on the screen were doubled, like how it looks when you take your glasses off in a 3D film. Lastly, it was too bright throughout the film, they kept the lights on the whole time which was really distracting. The seats were nice, and it was clean, that’s about the only good thing I can honestly say about it. Im really hoping these are just opening glitches that will be fixed soon, but as it stands I’d rather drive 30 minutes to the nearest AMC than go here again living only 2 minutes from the place.

I was really looking forward to the Liberty-based chain taking over the downtown theater, but overall the experience was pretty disappointing. The food was a big letdown. I understand that they don't serve food in the theater because they think it's a distraction, but given how the Alamo's food was one of the main attractions, I figured they'd put at least a little effort into the kitchen. The food I got was basic, kinda nasty, severely overpriced movie theater food. Not too terrible on its own, but pretty disappointing given what you used to be able to get here. The theater itself also just feels cheap. It looks good (the decor from the Alamo days hasn't changed much), but there were a lot of tech issues. Worst was the quality of the film, as other reviewers have mentioned, which made the movie hard to see at times. There were also minor things, like most of the info on my ticket being cut off and the movie title above each theater's entrance showing the wrong film (together these issues made it a bit difficult to figure out where I was supposed to be). While the staff was amazing (seriously, the professionalism I saw from some of them was stellar), it felt like B&B itself is putting minimal effort into this theater. Hopefully all of my complaints are just kinks they'll work out in the near future.

I want to preface that if the B&B’s marketing team responds with a generic “thank you for your feedback/we will take your feedback into consideration” please don’t. From the reviews it’s obvious that the issues have continued. The quality of the movie was poor (fuzzy), and the food is a massive downgrade. I also miss how Alamo valued the time spent watching the movie by warning customers if they’re loud they will be ejected. The screening I attended had adults on their phones, kicking seats, tapping their feet. I felt like a librarian asking others to be respectful and stop. It also took me 30 minutes to build up the courage as I figured that adults much older than myself would eventually stop and they didn’t. The increase in ticket cost in addition to the above makes me hesitate to revisit this location unless they ACTUALLY take customer feedback and not just provide lip service in response to negative reviews. Two stars because the service from the food and beverage staff was wonderful.

I love BB and I’m super loyal to it like I don’t even wanna look at an AMC but I am forced to go to one because I often see movies with my sister and they have this dumb 21+ rule if it’s accompanied by somebody under age it is super ridiculous and super annoying and they make the claim well it’s because it’s on the power and light district, OK chipotle and insomnia cookies are also on the power and light district and I don’t have to be 21+ to order a burrito so reevaluate stupid rules an under age mom should be able to see a cartoon with her daughter I said what I said. The downtown theater is the closest to me without me having to drive to the Northland or to the state line Road. It pains me to even give this review. I’ve never did reviews but that rule is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. It’s a movie theater. It’s just another thing taken away from teenagers in Kansas City. There’s already not enough things to do in Kansas City. For kids 16 through 20

Some of the recent reviews scared me before I came out tonight to see Dune but the fears were unfounded - the screen quality was good, the lights dimmed enough so as not to be distracting, the sound wasn't muddled, the chairs were comfortable. I had a great time at the movie. The menu on the website also scared me - but it's totally inaccurate. There's WAY more options available. It's not cheap, but there are options. Also, the staff was all very nice there! There's even a drink fountain refill station upstairs so you don't have to run downstairs to refill. The old Alamo Drafthouse was good, I liked being served at my seat, but I think B&B are doing a fine job with the place and I don't resent their presence there. Only bad thing was the sink in my bathroom stall didn't work and the knob fell off when I tried to use it :S also the ticket prices are akin to a nighttime IMAX showing, and these movies aren't IMAX. If that matters.

  • Jonathan Ruiz

After Alamo Drafthouse got defunct, I went to this B&B blind to see Dune there and honestly it was alright - not great. The reclining seats were enticing as you were comfortable at home, but the food and beverage wasn't as tasty and inspired as the Alamo Drafthouse was. What threw me off guard is the outrageous movie ticket prices. Heck, I find it ridiculous that most of the showtimes here are more expensive than a regular IMAX ticket and I hope this gets adjusted to the point where everyone gets the chance to their movie at a right price they can't refuse. I'll give this theater another shot if they improve in a few months if they bring indie films and better picture quality. I know this is a local movie theatre chain not everyone including myself know about, but I'm a bit glad that B&B revived this historical movie theatre in downtown after COVID-19 messed everything up regardless.

I was visiting family and this was my first time to Mo. I gotta say, that, I was blown away. This, is by far, the most beautiful theater that I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. I love the ambience and beauty of the lobby, and the attached bar was just fantastic. Customer service was friendly and helpful. With live Jazz music, dancing and food to enjoy after watching our movie. The seats were comfy and the restrooms were clean. It was nice to see that cinema still holds value in this locally owned company that has gone the extra mile to elevate our experience. So, now, I will go the extra mile to come and enjoy this experience time and time again. It’s a million times better than patronizing a thoughtless, brainless Chinese owned theaters like amc. Shame on you if you go here. Shop, buy and live local. I highly recommend BNB theater . Go America!

The worst movie theater dirty bathroom smells like sewer and none of the sinks work and don't have faucets on them only one sink worked in the top floor bathroom and no soap and the hand dryer was broken ordered chicken Alfredo pizza nasty for 13 .00 and and drink and wanted cream soda none of the drinks even worked but sprite it was pissing but to top it off I left my debit card by mistake and a worker went on a shopping spree a few doors down at daiquiri bar and other local places I will nvr come back when Alamo was there it was the best ! Clean and good was better this theater has nerve to show family promo videos before movie starts the theater there standing in was way cleaner then downtown location they need to fix this place if your top 5 company in movie theaters how the hell did you do that ?please I would like to know 0 stars for me

My wife and I live in Independence, but we would come downtown to see films at the Alamo Drafthouse because we loved the total package—half hour introductions, using clips from cheesy old movies related to what we were going to see; warnings that we’d get kicked out if we talked; occasionally, offbeat movies that the local cineplexes don’t show; the food that went beyond hotdogs, and alcoholic beverages; in short, the total package. We would pay too damned much for parking in downtown KC because it was FUN to go to the Alamo. All of that is gone now. Why would we go all the way downtown for the same mediocre experience we can have in Lee’s Summit or Independence, without having to pay for parking? I guess it’s ok if you live in downtown KC, but not as an occasion.

  • Chris Allmon

Loved this spot when it was Alamo. Unfortunately B&B does not seem to care as much about quality checking their projections. Seating is still good, and the bar is nice (if not grossly overpriced), but thats all thats been carried over. Our movie was slightly out of focus, there was a lot of double vision going on the whole time. They cropped at least a foot off the top and bottom so we couldnt read half the subtitles the entire time (which was really annoying when half the dialogue isnt in english). And they left the doors to the theater open the whole time so any nuance of silence or dramatic pausing was drowned out by the lobby music. Overall, watching a movie at home on the couch would have been a more immersive experience.

I wish I could give this theater more stars, considering its so close to home. But in the theater room my film played in (theater 3), the blacks were washed out, the picture was noticeably blurry, the yellow safety lights on the steps were shining on the screen throughout the whole movie which was very distracting, and the audio was sub par. On the upside, the staff was extremely friendly, and the popcorn was probably the best I’ve ever had. I’ll give this place another chance, but probably only to check out the ‘Grand Screen’ experience. Chances are, they only upgraded the seats and not the projectors or screens from The Alamo Drafthouse. But thank goodness they got rid of the bar tops that cut off part of the screen.

This is DISGUSTING went to a 1:15pm showing and the bathrooms looked like this!! These are all different stalls btw! Sink overflowing…let’s not even talk about the NASTY toilet! Why is that door not shut and blocked off…must have been sitting like this for a long time! It is clear no one has cleaned in ages. How is this not a health code violation. Theatre 3 also has a dirty big line through the top left screen that was HIGHLY annoying when watching the movie. Also there was some darker scenes and I could hardly see! No detail in the blacks. I used to love going here when this was Alamo, but it has gone extremely down hill. I’ve had no complaints at other B&B theatre’s but this was absolutely terrible!!

  • Milton J

After moving from the KC Northland area it became a process planning my outings to the Liberty theater. My frequency of catching movies lessened. It is great to have the B&B quality of theaters accessible in the downtown area. Great location, the full B&B ambiance and the amenities you except. I often wish the wider food selection that the previous theater tenant offered was still available. But hey you can't have it all. One star off because several times on the Saturdays I went to see a movie here the bartender was not available for me to purchase a drink and I was assured it was due to an unforeseen emergency that had him/her running late. That happened twice I'll have to see if it happens more.

  • ali happer

i’ve seen movies at this theater for almost a decade - first when it was alamo & then when it became b&b. once b&b took over, I have never once been when there hasn’t been an issue with audio. usually it’s during their ads or previews before the movies, but today I went to see an action movie & felt like the sound was on 50%. as soon as the credits started rolling, it was like all of the speakers at the back of the the theater turned on & we had full surround sound. I just don’t understand how it happens every time, no matter which theater i’m in. it’s super annoying to go to a ‘large movie chain’ as they market & have so many audio issues. love the recliner & heated seats though.

I saw "The French Dispatch" on a Sunday night. While buying my tickets (wow, pretty expensive), another customer rushed over to tell the employee that the screen in his theater had gone dark in the middle of the film... I should have taken that as a sign and left. The house lights didn't dim as the movie started, so I went to tell the staff (can anyone fill me in on the first 7 minutes of the film?) Some of the film's subtitles were cut off, so we missed out on some of the dialog. My opinion (as a layman) is that the movie-going experience would benefit from investing less into luxury seating and more into the staff and the quality of the presentation itself.

Has been my favorite theater since I moved downtown and it was the Alamo drafthouse. I was skeptical about B&B theaters taking over just because of the cool and unique vibe and style of this historic theater and fear that it’d have too much of a “corporate franchise” vibe but have been pleasantly surprised. Love their rewards program, have great customer service, comfortable and clean seating in the theaters and great snacks! Just a small thing, but it seems like they don’t use all their theaters regularly. They may be able to have more movie variety if they had all theaters in use. Regardless, I always enjoy visits here and it’s become a date night staple!

I review often, and its very seldom that I give a poor review . Even when my experience is not wonderful I say to myself Everyone has a poor evening sometimes. And I look for something a little positive to say about the place . But this was the worst I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!! the service was terrible. We were there at 6 pm. Place was not busy at all . I am not going to waste a lot of time on this . But the evening ended with the manager threating to have my wife arrested if she didn't leave, while He refused to give me my receipt and return my credit card to me !!!! The staffs behavior was so bazaar, I honestly thought We were on some hidden camera show!

  • l b

Our first time at the Main Street theater and we were presently surprised. Saw a movie in the grand screen and the theater was very clean and the lights were on so we could easily find our seats. Staff was very friendly and helpful. When the movie was over someone was there to clean the theater. It’s to bad other patrons can’t take the time to throw away their own trash on the way out or the theater to help out…. This B and B theater is so much nicer and better maintained than the B and B Patriot 12 theater in Waynesville. The manager from Waynesville needs to talk to the manager here and get some pointers on cleaning and maintenance. Thanks

  • Ryan Renfrew

I was really looking forward to this theater reopening, but our first trip back was extremely disappointing. The downgrade in food/service compared to the Alamo was to be expected, but I was surprised that movie presentation quality has taken a dive as well. We paid $16 a pop for tickets to a showing on the "Grand Screen" (auditorium #1) and they left the house lights on through the entire film—resulting in a muddy, washed-out picture. Apparently, they cannot completely turn off the overhead house lights and it sounds like they do not plan to fix it. If you're going to the theater for a quality viewing experience, I would look elsewhere.

I ordered five $25 e-gift cards online on Thursday, July 13th. I received an email receipt stating that I paid for the gift cards, but I never received the e-gift cards that "are sent within minutes and can be printed off at home." It has been 2 weeks and I still do not have the gift cards. These were supposed to be grand prize gifts for an event that has come and gone. I have reached out to customer service many times. If I even get a response, it is an automated email saying someone will get back to me. I am out $125 with no way of getting that money back. This feels like a scam. DO NOT ORDER E-GIFT CARDS FROM THIS THEATER.

  • Jeremy Lawson

A not so hidden gem in downtown KC. The seats are comfy and I think they all recline and have heaters. For a downtown theater this slaps. Heck, just walk through the place to see the cool architecture and design of the historic building. If you’re taking the street car, it’s on the power and light stop, which is also right by this theater. They have a full bar and your typical food options as well. Many of the rooms are smaller so get your tickets online if you can. And be sure to come early or plan to stay after, if the jazz bar is open. It’s a great experience and many weekend nights they have live music.

  • James Oehring

Imagine if someone bought the Peanut and turned it into a Buffalo Wild Wings....If this was in NKC or OP, I wouldn't have even thought to leave a review. It's a very normal, run of the mill theater. Nothing was “bad”, it was just very blah. Unfortunately for B&B, they had big shoes to fill for me and it just totally disappointed. You no longer have the unique experience that you got at Alamo Drafthouse. You don't get a server anymore, you have to buy your food in the lobby like a normal theater. The menu is just pizza, hotdogs and hamburgers. No more obscure preshow trailers. It's just an everyday theater.

  • Too Wun

Maybe if B&B Theater had a HUMAN answer their PHONES or RESPOND to their EMAILS they would KEEP THEIR CUSTOMERS! I HOPE THIS LOCATION FAILS. EDIT to RESPOND: Oh I got your attention now. Yeah. I tried that email many times. Or HOW ABOUT PUTTING A HUMAN ON THE PHONE! HUMAN CUSTOMER SERVICE. ✅ You do realize I can JUST WAIT a couple weeks and SEE THE MOVIES AT HOME? I don't think B&B is thinking this through well. I had no problem spending $140 for tickets and food tonight at your theater. But you are NOT going to TREAT ME as a COG! Good Luck with your business model.

  • Alex Wogomon (WaGaWaGaTron)

I was sad to see The Alamo close down due to covid, but was hopeful when B&B came along in it's stead. Unfortunately, everything that made Alamo a unique and fun movie experience is gone, replaced with the same generic, cringey "Magic of the Movies" nonsense and overpriced, poor quality movie theater food. No more ordering interesting food and drinks into the theater, no more unique pre-screening entertainment, the bathrooms were a wreck, hell the escalators weren't even working. The problems here go beyond one bad night, sad to see.

  • Seth Larson

I do not understand how some theaters in 2023 don’t care one bit about sound quality or video. I wanted to give this place a chance because I have fond memories of when it was Alamo drafthouse. They took away everything that made it cool and unique, and didn’t add anything to the experience. We won’t be back, but for your future patrons, learn how to mix the audio correctly so you can actually hear the score, and turn it way up at the minimum. And think about buying a projector that isn’t from 1998 for the “grand” screen

  • Brenda Evans

My group was refused to use the restroom. They first assumed we were underage which we weren't and, then even after showing them an ID we still weren't treated like adults. To make matter worse as we were leaving we simple tried to go to the bathroom but NO. They refused to let us simply go to the bathroom and told us to go walk a block in the dark to the nearest restroom. I would give them a negative amount of starts if I could. I've never in my life has ever been told that I wasn't allowed to go to the bathroom

  • Patricia-PattyCake Banks

Went to see the new Jurassic World on Saturday. Im so glad they opened this place back up. I love the decor, the elegant old-school glamour feel. Ordered myself an Amaretto Sour. I think its so dope that you can take your cocktail in the theater with you!!! We chose reclining and the Funnel Cake fries are absolutely delicious!!!! My only beef & it's with downtown KCMO as a whole- is the horrible parking. There is no where to park and as a taxpaying citizen I believe that is unfair.

  • teeba

I walked in and omggg the place was so beautiful. I went with my family and walked into a rated r movie thinking it would be fine for my 9 year old sister to come and watch with us. there were some explicit scenes. my mother was a little upset so we all left and asked if we could switch the movie we were going to watch and the person said we could but another one wasnt until 2 hrs . we asked for a refund and he happily gave it to us even though we were about 20-35 minutes in.

  • Juicy Fruit

Employees are fantastic, the live band in the foyer was jamming just right, and the seating experience was 10/10. Heated seats with a kickback and relax mood, and a tray that moves around you, airplane style. I wouldn't usually edit a review, but I can't help it in this case. After leaving the theater, I found both my wipers lifted off my car, and one of them bent in half backwards. Which really dampened the positive feeling I had originally had.

  • Jeff Buford

First visit since the reopen was this week and was very happy to have a theater downtown again. Seats were amazing and so comfortable. A little feedback, the speaking parts of the movie was just fine, but it felt like the music parts were just really muted for some reason, hoping this is just figuring out the space a little better, but that seems like an easy improvement. My only complaint, ditch Pepsi...gross, I'll be sneaking in my own coke

  • Robert Hahn

This was the best movie theater I've ever been to. The heated reclining seats are amazing and plush. The sound system in the screens are top notch. And the lobby just oozes nostalgia!! I'm going to go again and again for every movie that comes out that I want to see!! A true five star in my book. And they have a jazz bar right next to the lobby that has live bands great mixed drinks and a great short menu to choose from before the preview.

  • Cynde Aaron

The associate did now show up to open the doors for the 11:30 AM show until 11:25. He was by himself because another associate called in sick. We were late getting into the theatre due to checking in for our tickets and concession orders. No offer of comping anything. The popcorn was so oversalted and seasoned that it was inedible. The soda machines had no syrup in them, so all you got was lightly flavored soda water.

  • James Carrino

A beautiful establishment, wonderfully complimenting the area surrounding it. Complete with a Jazz Bar that plays on the weekend, it feels like you're stepping back into the Golden Age of Hollywood to experience all the best movies of today. The only thing that would make it better would be to play classic movies on the regular, as opposed to simply over the Summer.

  • Celeste Ambrose

Oak is the best!!! I love this theater. But the time that stood out to me was when we went to watch the Eras Tour. The movie was stalled about an hour, and you could imagine that everyone wasn’t happy with that. But Oak made sure we were taken care of! We was so kind and helped us immediately. We would’ve left if it weren’t for him being so timely and helpful!!

  • Ryan Robledo

One of the most beautiful movie theaters I’ve ever visited. The architecture is gorgeous (oldest movie theater in KC!), seats are very comfortable, the screens are huge, and the food is actually enjoyable. My one gripe would be that the audio does not stand up to the standards of more modern, IMAX-style places. Otherwise, I cannot recommend this place enough!

  • D'Anthony W.

Great service, clean theaters, and comfy seats. I just miss The Alamo being here since B&B doesn't take your order from your seat or bring your drinks & food to you in the theater. it's diminished the whole reason the Main Street theater was built. This theater has been 3 different theater companies, and B&B, unfortunately, is my least favorite.

  • Bruce Kuzma

B&B Main street, formerly AMC has renovated the renovated for profitable gains. Cut food delivery to the seats, "employee safety!" I have not been inside since the turn over from AMC. Their still in business it seems. I rarely see the doors open. Hope they make it! In the words of another, "Live long and prosper." Respectfully.

The movie experience was obviously going to change due to the pandemic. Still there's this eerie emptiness at this theater. I just really miss the Alamo Drafthouse. It was going to be tough to live up to their standards. This theater doesn't even try. I'll continue going because I live nearby and there aren't any other options.

  • Christopher Thomas

Poor Management. We had to ask twice for the lights to be turned off in the theatre. Note, they did say the lights were suppose to be off the first time we asked. Likely will not be going back here. P.S. If you are use to the Alamo, they will not be delivering your food to the theatre. You have to pick it up at the front desk.

  • Kyle Lawson

I had a good experience here. The restrooms were clean and the staff was friendly. My favorite part was that the seats recline. The only disappointment was that there is no dinner/lunch food served like there was at the old Alamo Drafthouse. There are little tables connected to the seats so these were meant for meals!

  • Josh Bushmoyer

Those who loved the Alamo Drafthouse from before in this location will still be able to enjoy the same atmosphere and aesthetics! The big difference is the seats are way more comfortable (and heated) with much more convenient trays for your food/drinks. The owners are extremely nice and we can’t wait to go back there!

  • Wuji Fei

Very nice movie theater located in the center of the P&L district. Seats are big and comfortable. Have small arm rest/table where you can put food on. I was here a few times for movies and always had a great time. The food options are ok but they taste good. A bit slow on the service so plan accordingly.

  • Luis Gonzalez

The place was nice, but service was subpar. I have tried reaching out to them several time for help and have never responded to me. Very disappointed since our initial experience was so good. I see you replied with your email. I have tried emailing you a handful of times and you have never replied.

  • Liz Browning

I had the worst experience at this place, the movie didnt have sound for a good 10 mins, they forgot, no previews, nothing at all, and on top of that, the food was terrible, I got sick. worst part, I email the company and i got no response, I am beyond disappointed I don't think I will go back

  • Katie Gillmore

Great to have a quality movie theater downtown. Sadly it's no longer an Alamo Drafthouse and does not offer the same level of food and beverage. The movie visuals, seats and audio were all very good. Probably some general improvements needed, but I'm just happy to have a theater in the area.

  • Valcenie Deckard

Omg this theatre is great comfy seats great decor friendly staff and Tues are the best days to go because Its discount Tues and the menu is great will be back and nice pop machine and they have boardgames for you to play so glad they reopened this building and oh yes heated seats !!!!!

  • Chris Mandia

Been a long time since going to a movie theater but enjoyed feeling like I was in my living room. Comfortable recliner chairs with tables. Heated if you are cold. Only complaint (nothing to do with theater)... 6 people in the theater and one idiot talking on his phone. Seriously

  • Tisha Scott

This is a very cute little B&B. Down falls is no one checks tickets so anyone can come and go as they please. It takes forever to get actual food. And last loads of teens with no supervision. They where drinking straight from the soda machine and no one was stopping them..

  • Taylor Starks

B&B ruined this theater. Tickets are more expensive, there's no more server, and the food is the same awful, expensive mcdonalds quality burger and chicken that's at every other B&B. Super disappointed and won't be back. Hopefully Alamo opens another location in KC ASAP.

  • Christopher Elliott

First time there since the switch from Alamo and I'm very happy. The new chairs are super comfortable and I think they put in a new sound system because it sounded great. The staff was also very helpful and friendly I'm really happy B&B took over this theater.

  • Kyra Carson

Amazing experience, very family oriented values, I had fun. The bonus being it's an 18+ only theater and under 18 with accompaniment by an 18+, almost always clean, and the adjoining Johniie's Jazz Bar and Grille offers a delicious menu along with a full bar

  • Dennis Petti

Location does not have accessible parking. Nothing for disabled people. Very hard to get to in the parking lot around the corner. You cannot see the machine to buy a ticket for parking. I had to cancel today cuz there's no real good parking.

  • James Symmonds

Good news! They fixed the escalators! Bad news is that you will want those as the men's restroom on the second floor was broken. Also, why worry about silencing your cellphone when you hear every siren and dirt bike outside of the theater?

  • J. The super

I think coming here during the day would be better, you can hear the jazz club while the movie is going, maybe you can't upstairs, I thought when it was the Alamo it suffered the same sound issues and the theater doesn't seem dark enough

  • Arnold Sauther

When my wife and daughter attend performances at the Kansas City Music Hall, I go to B & B to watch a movie. It is a great place. This last time, they had equipment issues. They gave me a pass for a future and offered to let me sit it

  • M S

B&B Sucks!!! I miss the Alamo Drafthouse being here!!! No food service to your seat, you have to go down stairs to pick up food while the movie is playing, escalator doesn't work so you'll need to take the elevator to the 2nd floor.

  • Mary M

Filthy bathrooms, dirty lobby. I miss Alamo Drafthouse. Edited to respond to the owner's response: customers shouldn't have to report when an entire bathroom is filthy. Look around your business, see the filth, and clean something.

  • Terry Wilson

It's fine. Comfortable seats. Popcorn was ok. It's just not anywhere as interesting/fun as the Alamo Drafthouse that it is replacing. Would be better if they served food during the movie and increased the menu options.

  • Cameron Smith

Really impressed with the theater. The seats recline and are super comfy, and even have seat warmers! Great sound and crisp picture. The bar had some fun live swing and jazz music playing on the Friday night we went.

  • Alanda

Cool theater but I called the theater about a specific movie and they returned my call and left a message saying the theater is temporarily closed for remodel maybe until end of September 2021, or early October 2021.

  • Roman Farro

Made plans to see Dr Strange today and the audio was terrible! Went to front to ask for a fix and was told they can’t fix but I could get a refund if I left now. How does a theater operate on such a low standard!

  • Lisa Hampton

When this theater was run by Alamo, it was great. B&B has let it go downhill. Dirty, bathroom faucets broken, cold popcorn, escalators not working, the movie stopped in the middle. Not a good experience anymore.

  • Scott Rixson

It's a shell of the formerly run Alamo. Place is dingy and looks run down. Very depressing because this place used to be great! People on their phones and talking during the movie, and management is invisible.

  • James Ballard

The theater was great. It was my first ever visit and won't be my last. The seating was comfortable. It was like relaxing on a sofa at home. I especially like the minimal seating. It didn't feel over crowded.

  • Joseph Gilligan

Awesome downtown theater with cool architecture, pictures of famous historical and recent movie scenes, sometimes events and stuff in the bar area and great place to see a movie along the streetcar line

  • Tanya Dixon

From the lobby view, this place is immaculate, and shouts fun and adventure, with a well -stocked concession stand! Not sure about the bathrooms...heard that they weren't up to snuff...

  • Teela Maxwell

I like this theater they have heated seats, reclining chairs, swivel tray top for food and xl screens. Ambiance is great. There's a bar connected that plays jazz most of the time.

  • Matthew Wise

Escalators weren't working and theaters were up two flights of stairs. We went late at night so almost completely empty. Nice comfy seats and excellent video and sound quality.

  • Eric Black

Movie theater was clean and nice and workers were super courteous. Only negative would be the ticket pricing can get steep when going at night. But reasonable during the day

  • William Woodson

Even though the escalators were off they had a elevator cause I thought I had a 2 flight walk way better than Alamo was good job place was clean and the staff was helpful

  • Jeff Ratliff

I really don't remember why I visited their website if I did but honestly I don't know anything about it. Maybe they can throw a coupon my way and I can let you know.

  • Stan Murrill

Very nice theater experience. Great seats and great screens and great location. The staff was engaging and the theater was very well kempt. Prices are what they are!

  • January Tolbert

Nice clean theater comfortable seat staff was welcoming and we recieved professional service and the movie screen clear visible and the surrounding sounds were great

  • Linda Navarrette

First of all the movie was GREAT!! THE WOMAN KING...my first time at this theatre. Second the service was awesome. I felt like we had the theatre all to our selves

  • Curtis Parris

Awesome theaters, seats are the best . Heated, recliner Stadium curved seating allows you to have a great view from anywhere in the theater . Love this place.

  • Shae B.

The theatre was clean, great food choices, cocktails and seats! The staff was even nice. I actually tipped the guy who took my food order. Great place!

  • Brady Skjervem

So glad B&B bought this! Theatre was a staple for us for years! Sad about Alamo, but so glad you guys snatched this up and are keeping cinema alive!

  • Candice Jaremczuk

Loved this theater! Very clean. I usually don't sit up front but this was enjoyable. Visiting from out of town but I look forward to going back!

  • Jacob Rose

The food was lame, the clerks were nice and helpful, but I was sorely disappointed in everything but the movie. Bring back Alamo Drafthouse.

  • Mel Hogan

Great when B&B first took over. Neglected and going downhill ever since. It’s obvious they care more about their suburban locations more.

  • Shareda Rollins

We had a great time! We didn't prefer getting in the food line for tickets but we understand the logic with worker shortages every where.

  • Ernest Taylor

I miss the service from the previous theatre. It's still comfy but also had issues with the 3D black panther movie in screen room 1.

  • jean laubs

We were excited to see a movie here but there is no dedicated parking and all the lots were $20. We went to a different theater.

  • L Cotton

I'm new (ish) to the area and this is my first visit to a theater since the pandemic. Glad I chose this one!

  • mizmicke

I Loved This Theater When It Was The Alamo and I Still Love It !! Thank You So Much For Taking Over …

  • Kenneth Walker (KDub)

Went to see Cocaine Bear and was the only one in the theater. Loved the facility, the food and the movie.

  • Chad Spray

The edges of the movie were cut off, so not great. The theater was clean though and the staff were nice

  • Karen Donovan

AWESOME theater! Looking forward to it being fully opened and will see most movies there! Love B&B

  • Stephen Wilson

Yay! B&B is locally-owned, a great supporter of Kansas City music also. We're so happy about this!

  • Jewel Fivecoat

I was sad to see The Alamo go but this new theater makes it a little easier. Paul was very nice!

  • Brandon Martin

This theater keeps changing owners. This is the best since it was the Alamo. Best recliners ever

  • Nancy Gillard

Great theater. Easy to purchase tix ahead of time. Grab a beer at cocktail before the movies.

  • Tammy Robinett

The seats recline, and heat up on your lower back, Amazing!!! I want to go back every week!

  • Austin Larsen

B&B did an excellent job renovating the old theater. Easily on of the best theaters in KC.

  • Randall Carruthers

Very attractive place with comfy seats. It was a great experience. I can't wait to go back

  • Laressa Raley

Very cool experience. Seat are sooooo comfortable and big. They also serve beer!

  • Jason Ward

Too expensive in terms of tickets and refreshments but decent seats and screens.
