When we came to get a car there was a line and we was waiting in reception to get documents 20 min with 2 kids. When we got a documents we was waiting line to get a car. So finally we git a car around 8 pm instead 7pm!!!! We returned the car next day 7:40 and I was shocked when I got receipt with double price! I used a car only 23 hours and 40min but in documents AVIS put reservation time instead real pick up time. AViS charged from me as a two days. I am regular customer and I thought that it's convenient company but even representative could not fix this issue when I drop off the car. Representative in 43 Street in Manhattan tried to call to customer service but could not solve issue and a system did not let him do it. So I have questions to management team: why you could not provide enough number of employees on the line to avoid queues? It was Friday evening, the most popular time for renting cars before the weekend, and the girl was working alone, she tried to work with several clients at once, but there was still a queue! the girl in reception Sept 22 was very nice, but unfortunately there are not enough managerial solutions for this location on Manhattan 43rd street. Why representatives don’t have permissions to solve very easy issue immediately ? I realized that they can only print documents. I understand how it is important to have good service and I hope this feedback (gift from me to AVIS) helps you to realize what is going on in your location, and helps enhance service. And please solve my issue

Avis has become my Go To car rental company. I've even used them several times out of the country, in Panama and a few other places. Always a very smooth process, very good vehicles and great pricing. What else can you say about a car rental company. On a NYC Note, their location on E. 43rd in Manhattan is the BEST! Car rental options in Manhattan are abysmal... This is The Oasis in the car rental desert . Most other options in the city aren't open 24 hrs. and have no after hours, key drop option... Really ? I had a little hiccup on a recent rental; Nadi and the other staff at E. 43rd took care of everything quickly and professionally! I guess that's one more thing that can be said about a car rental company. At the end of the day, it's about the people and Avis seems to attract quality people. This is not a one-off either. I believe I posted another 5 star review for this location a ways back and that one was also in regards to the Amazing person at the desk. I still remeber to this day, watching her on 2 PHONES at the same time, while helping the person in front of her, being courteous, beyond efficient in a way you'd only understand if you come from NYC ! If she ran for President, she'd have my vote

I rented a car thru AARP/Expedia but I would've rented directly with AVIS had I not had those options, bcuz of this experience. Picked up the car in Manhattan E 43rd St. One guy ran the counter but he knew his stuff so it didn’t matter. Not the friendliest but I appreciate the quick processing over the chitchat. We were out of there fast! Drop off was in Cambridge, MA at the 350 Massachusetts Ave location. That one was a bit tricky bcuz you drop the car on the 6th floor of a parking structure down the road and walk back to the office. Wasn’t a far walk but thank God we didn’t have our luggage with us. And the office faces Sidney St, versus Massachusetts Ave, closer to Greene St where the parking structure is. Anywho, when you get to the office, they’ll tell you exactly where to leave your car so stop there first! The guy at the counter was super pleasant and the checkout process was very quick! Overall, the experience was great and I would rent with them again. I used to work for another car rental company and wanted to go thru them but AVIS rates were cheaper. But they are a great company also!

This is the worst car rental service there is. I have never had such a bad experience. To begin, when I arrived the security guard was asleep. I had to walk around to try to find the front desk employee. When he finally arrived he stopped to stare at me so I asked if he worked there. He immediately began to yell at me and call me names, slurs and other derogatory terms. I started taking videos because I began to feel unsafe as he even followed me outside to harass me. I was treated so badly that I was afraid and can be heard on video asking the employee multiple times to please calm down and leave me alone. When I got the car it was supposed to be full but was not. It had an incredibly strong smoke scent as well as beer caps on the ground. The worst garbage, however, was an empty condom wrapper that my son found in the back seat. The screen also froze multiple times and cause me to be delayed.

Overpriced and predatory company. My friends and I booked and pre-paid for a rental car before picking it up. When we arrived to pick the car up, we were told that we were too young to rent (25+ car) even though we put our age down. We were 6 people, but the only 21+ cars they had were 5. We had to load up in a 5 seater for our roadtrip. We had only rented for 1 day (but because we were coming back a little over 24 hours later, we were charged for 48 hours). The Avis website estimated $400 on this. When we arrived at the dealership after our trip, it was $380. With fees applied afterwards, it was $600!! We have rented from other car companies before for much longer and for larger cars. We have taken minivans to Boston for much less than Avis and with much less annoyance. Do not spend your money here unless you absolutely have to.

Wish I remembered the names of the man and woman who worked the front desk, but they had great energy and were very friendly. I was renting a car close to the holiday season and I put in the completely wrong week on my reservation, but she went and fixed the whole situation for me. Plus, around the holidays it’s always refreshing for people to be in a positive attitude. The attendant who also picked up my car was friendly and efficient as well. Love this location, I will be back.

Horrible experience. Our team member was picking up a car that was reserved for him and AVIS refused to accept debit card. They tried to run a credit check on a debit card to rent a car. Horrible experience. Do not recommend neither this company to rent a car with nor this location. Poorly trained and rude staff. Avis should spend more time training its employees and review its company policy. Will not be renting from them ever again and will encourage others not to do so.

I rented a car from here and left it at Boston airport. Both me and my wife do not smoke cigarette and there was no one else in the car. After a month from rental, they charged 450$ from my credit card claiming that we smoked in the car. There is no proof, nothing that supports the claim. They just say "we smelled cigarette in the car", which is not possible from my rental. They think it is easy money to charge tourists with fake claims.

We rented a car in NYC for a week for a vacation. We used our points. When we returned the car the amount was for the Full amount. I called customer service and was finally connected to a young man named Greagory. He was terrific!! He listened to my story and immediately corrected the mistake. the car had damage to both rear tires. I couldn't drive above 60mph because the car was shaking. I came to the point to exchange my car and they said I could go to the airport and exchange it there. Coming back from Washington, I had to change the tire myself because the car didn't have a jack or a wheel wrench. I've used many rental companies in my life, but the Avis in Manhattan is the worst one. I don't recommend it to anyone.

I am happy to report that following my complaints few days ago, Avis did the right thing and reviewed my claims and then after proceeded to refund me the wrongly charged fees. The overall experience was again good despite that bad customer services when I was returning the car. I hope they continue to improve on that front and I will be even more careful and checking all the details on my next rental. Thanks!

Rental site didn’t have inventory; we waited nearly 2 hours to get the wrong car, and it was dinged, scratched, and dirty. That was after several later reservations were given cars before us. Our trip was delayed, as the holdups left us in tons of traffic, missing check-in and dinner. The horn didn’t work, and the rear camera kept malfunctioning See attached for a summary of our experience.

Extremely unhappy with the quality of service at this location. I was rushed out after check in and yelled at after return. They used to have great staff. The car was booked and paid for in advance, all the necessary software data was entered to quickly get a car. In fact, we waited for half an hour at the counter because they couldn't find a car for us. as a result, they gave a dirty car both inside and outside, which does not meet the minimum requirements in any way

Crazy waiting time!!!! And once reached the counter, the booked premium car was not available. Option 1, I wait for whatever time the premium car will be available or option B I take whatever is available … refunds I need to do online myself… LAST TIME AVIS !!!! I went for option 2… got a dirty old car….

Easy peasy leasy! People were friendly and nice. Price is average, but at least they are open all the time. Some car rentals are not open on the weekend and they force you to pay for three days because they are close. Avis allows you to rent on a weekend for one day!

Clean convenient AVIS 24 hrs location in Manhattan.. few other rental cars locations near our hotel closed 5-7pm so this location was more ideal to return car late evening.
