Bettas are kept in horrible conditions. I bought one and the only reason I did so was because I knew he would die if not. I tried to hint that something was wrong and got told that all the fish were in very good health. He had fin rot, a bacterial infection, and was extremely skinny. He was so unwell that he couldn’t even swim properly. The water he came in was freezing cold despite bettas needing to be in water around 75F and had ammonia levels of 0.4ppm (for anyone reading this who is not very knowledgeable, ammonia should be 0ppm. It comes from waste products and is very very harmful to fish). My only regret in rescuing this betta is that it required me to give this shop my money. Not only this, but I was given unsolicited advice without the person having any knowledge of what size tank I have or knowing if there were any tank mates. It was like they assumed I knew nothing. They were very nice when interacting with me, don’t get me wrong! And so I’m hoping that this was just accidental misinformation and excitement regarding the advice, as opposed to willful negligence. But the bettas are being neglected nonetheless
called to enquire about a fish, said they'd order one for me, then received a call to inform me that that particular fish had come in. drove over 1.5 hours both ways to get there, paid £5 for parking in islington, only to discover it was the entirely wrong colour morph even though i asked for the specific one in the initial order and when they called me on the phone. the guy and girl who worked there didn't seem to know the names of the colour morphs either, just said "oh the pink ones" etc. guy seemed nice enough but was miffed about the tediously long journey i had made for no reason. besides that the place was so run down and grimey. i'm pretty sure that i saw some birds or some other unfortunate animals in cages on the floor near the entrance. overall staff are uninformed about the animals and unorganised, wasted my time and i wouldn't have wanted to buy an animal from such a grungy establishment anyway frankly.
Terrible customer service! I've been there like 5 times, they don't even lift up their head from their phone to serve you. I got fish from them, it turns out one of them was ill, it died suddenly and infected the others, I went there twice to hear they "do not return dead fish". They didn't help me out at all, and didn't even help me cure the others even though I showed them videos I took of the fish and didn't understand what the problem was. They accepted no responsibility, told me that when they get new fish, sometimes they die as well or come in dead. Now two more died, one being the one I had for 8 months before the others, which had a lot of sentimental value to it. I'm extremely saddened and so very disappointed that these people only care about the trade and money side of things, not the living things they make the money off of.
I have used Angel aquarium before the present owner purchased the shop and I am perplexed by any negative reviews. Aaron and his staff are so helpful and when I upgraded to a bigger aquarium they tested the water weekly, the cost?? NOTHING. They advised me how solve problems with the water etc, as it was a new tank and it took time for the bacteria etc to balance, the cost?? NOTHING One of my fish developed swim bladder and Aaron told me to bring it into his 'Fish hospital' (Yes I know sounds bonkers and caused many eyebrows raised) but after one week Freckles is home and swimming around with his friends!!!! WOW and how much did this cost?? NOTHING. I have seen other animals in the shop, yes it is small but no it is not grungy. Aaron rescues unwanted animals whether it be fish or a rabbit etc. He is a human that cares.
I adopted a blind terrapin from there and she's doing extremely well. She wasn't from the shop but from a lady who didn't want her. Let me just clear something up. Aaron and Joe who work there do everything they can to produce happy and healthy fish. Sometimes there are problems with their supplier which means they can't always get in their fish supply. Fish are also hard to transport and it's perfectly natural for fish to die. We don't always know what diseases fish have but they didn't perpously sell a diseased fish to someone. These things happen. They don't have time to be running round hooking dead fish out of tanks. They do mirning checks and night checks for dead fish. They are amazing people with a lot of knowledge.
Very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly place. I first came in to get a new fish to replace one that had died suddenly. After asking me about the set up, he asked me to bring in a sample of water from my tank to test before selling me a new fish. They clearly care about the animals rather than making a quick sale. The water tested OK and he helped me choose two really unique fish and some plants. He even took the time to show me how to attach the plants to a log I already had, which I have now done and it looks great. Really happy, I will definitely be back, good range of products at decent value too. As if that wasn't enough, they have baby bunnies.
Bought an eldea (oxygen) plant yesterday, put into the tank. 2 hours later all my cherry and amano shrimps were squirming on their backs and later died. Called today and was told definitely not to do with the plant! To much of a coincidence though, it must be some sort of fertlilser or pesticide that did not agree with shrimps is all I can think, as fish were fine. I have bought this plant a lot before and from this same shop to, maybe a dodgy batch? Any how not very helpful and dismissive. I had some of these guys for over a year there were 7 in all. Very upset and will not be returning. My kids are very upset to and have been crying.
First impressions: The store had dead fish floating around in alot of tanks. There were also a few empty tanks, as the fish were taken away for medical care. Secondly: The salesman explained well. However, he didn't seem to care about the well-being of the fish that he sold. Finally: We bought 8 fish - 4 Neon Tetra, 2 Glowlight Tetra and 2 Cherry Barb. Unfortunately, 1 Glowlight Tetra had Fish Rot disease, which was confirmed today by a salesperson from a different store. It turns out that we were sold a diseased fish.
What a weird experience! I have a small tank roughly 24 litres, and was told "i probably won't sell to you its too small. Plus I have to fill out lots of paperwork". I checked on the wall & they sell the same size. The phone rang & the assistant decided to chat about his personal problems for 5mins. My 3 year old daughter & I were least impressed. Needless to say this was a rather confusing & disappointing experience. "How not to sell to customers." I came to buy two goldfish not to become an aquarists!
Can only say good things about this shop. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff that taught me a few things about London tap water as well as fish. I may save a few pennies buying things off online, but I am not going to get the help and advice that I do from these guys. That said the prices seem very reasonable and good to support local independent shops.
Went there stood downstairs whilst some guy talked to a woman and his son after I had told him what I was there for heqas only interested in talking to her. The manager came down and things because to speed up but I had lost interest in purchasing after waiting so long. If you have 20-30 mins spare to be ignored then this is ideal
Lovely customer service. Really knowledgeable staff and we are happy with the fish we've purchased. From all fish we've bought, only 2 died, but it must have been due to the cold weather/stress in transport, as it was really cold when we took them home. All other 16 are healthy and they seem happy in their new home!
Great shop, friendly staff. Always helpful can advise on what you need. Great selection of cold water and tropical fish, accessories, food and fishing equipment too all under one roof. Happy to help you set up and very supportive even after you have purchased your items. Highly recommended! Thank you for being amazing!
Very very bad, I order from the Mc Donald app, my drinks are split over the burgers and the burgers are so cold. I have called several time the Mc Donald local store on Holloway Road that I ordered and they didn’t answer, I have called the costumer service number and they didn’t answer as well.
Surprisingly good stock for what looks from the outside a small premises. Nice range of both coldwater and tropical, including out of the ordinary turtles, blue shrimp. Good stock of tank spares at reasonable prices, takes contactless for small amounts. Owner seems nice. Worth a visit
I am one of the regular customers. I enquired on how I could despose of unwanted pest snails in non cruel way. I been advised to bleach them. I do not see myself doing that. The customer service is not up to the standard to be honest. There need to be more customer care and respect.
Absolutely fantastic shop with a good range of tropical fish that are in fantastic condition. The shop is spotless small but well laid out. Aaron is an absolute gent that will give you all the advice you need. It's become my go to lfs. The only downside I spend to much!
Friendly but not impressed by non aquarium plants being sold as such. Salesman tried to say they are fine before saying its up to the customer. He ended with they will probably only last a month. My nearest tropical aquarium shop but I will avoid if possible. No trust.
I purchased some wite cloud Mountain minnows some silver ones and some gold ones which are quite rare Billy Galbally of fancy guppies UK said he had never seen the gold variety which was a tick for me. The angel aquarium is a very good place to go for fish lovers.
Friendly, helpful staff, good variety of cold water and tropical fish all healthy and well cared for. Good prices and good range of ornaments, filters, food, tanks etc...if you have fish or are looking to set up a tank, definitely go to Angel Aquarium.
Good customer service, price and selection. Though given the premises is set back on the pavement, they might want to go full bells and whistles to be noticed by passing traffic. Especially given that lockdown has awoken many lazy would be hobbyists.
Went in there to ask for info about setting up.an aquarium (not knowing much but a little) guy sitting in his chair didn't even move to show me around and looked like he was falling asleep as I was talking to him. Quite unprofessional in my opinion.
An alright shop although everything was too expensive and poor guinea pigs downstairs in a tiny dirty cage my daughter and her freind visited the shop and were swore at by the worker and were treated horribly and rudely will not be going back ever
An excellent shop with an extremely friendly, helpful and honest owner! We went to him looking to re-start an aquarium and he was very helpful, we haven’t decided on one yet but when we do one day we will for sure be purchasing from him only!
Terrible , would have given 0 star if I could. Extremely rude staff. Tried to over charge me at the counter and only corrected the bill when I asked for receipt.... The fish I bought died after a day and killed the other fish in the tank too
Amazing professional service from very kind people! They helped me when I was having a tank emergency including putting the products I needed in an Uber. Will definitely shop here again even though it’s across town from me. Thank you!
Just went in for a quick browse by myself when there were no customers but two ladies at the receptions. When I exited I was promptly, and rudely, spoken with a snide tone of "you're welcome!" followed by slamming the door shut.
Fish looked ill. Many of the larger fish were in small tanks. Also had died fish which is disgusting and cruel to the fish. Had random Guinea pigs down stairs that looked so hot and bothered. Will not be returning. Awful shop.
Amazing shop with amazing people working in. Yesterday we bought some fish and the guy working there was very very friendly and helpful. First time I saw that high quality customer service! Well done …
Really friendly, welcoming and informative! Bought some fish a couple months ago and followed their advice following my purchase. All fish are live and well and some have even bred! Thanks a lot! Will be coming back soon!
Friendly owner. Shop has all the basics, but is very small and has limited selection and stock. If you just need some very basic stuff it's a good place, but otherwise it's probably better to go to a bigger shop.
Bought a Plecko and some other aquarium items yesterday, not only is the shop a marvel to walk around, the staff seem very knowledgeable about all aquarium needs. This is my new aquarium maintenance go to place
When I visited they had almost nothing, no fishes, no plants. The tanks seemed abandoned and green. Only reason why I give 2 stars is because the woman in there was nice. Going there was a big loss of time.
I love supporting local neighborhood stores, and I really like the feeling this little one has. The owner is very kind and helpful and tries his best to provide solutions for any issue I might have.
Really friendly and helped a lot with advice regarding weighting down aquarium plants. He even demonstrated how to use the products effectively! He is clearly a very passionate aquarium enthusiast.
Very bad information, I'm on the process of saving my black oranada and the proprietor is too busy to answer the door because of more important clients have contacted previous times. Not happy
They have a very large variety of different pet accessories and food plus small pets for sale, even fish tropical and cold water plus live plants. Great management and staff very helpfull.
Friendly staff, wide variety of fish, tropical and non tropical, frogs, turtles, reptiles and some guinea pigs. Also great accessories for aquariums. Parking on essex road or cross street.
Fantastic little place, we got our tank set up & made there - very knowledgeable and always helpful. All of our fish have been extremely healthy and happy and our tank set up is great.
Great place lots of tropical fish and other types of fish too... staff are friendly and got lots of knowledge about how to set up a fish tank and what fish to put in your tank.
The staff here are amazing it's nothing to do about selling it's about the customer and fish are happy .they just wouldn't sell you a fish if it wasn't the right thing to do.
Super attentive and knowledgeable staff. Gained expert advice on how to keep the fishies off the little dishies. Tank being set up now. Photos to come once purchased pets.
Joe was extremely helpful over the phone when I had a crisis with my Fluvel filter - he helped me fix the problem & made me a very happy lady :) Great customer service
Great customer service the staff took the time to go-though my questions and help me solve the issue I had with my fish would totally recommend and will be back soon

Its the same thing if u gone to another fish shops, but the only problem is its way too expensive, when u can get it much cheaper in other pets stores!!
Really good place where the owners care about the fishes they sell. They are also always willing to help. I'll definitelly keep going there.
Bought plants and they killed all my shrimp. Just read another review that said they're selling non aquarium plants. Very disappointing.
Great little place, has everything you really need. Prices are pretty good too and the two that work there are very knowledgeable!
Really friendly, helpful staff , I ask loads of questions when I go into the shop and they always take the time to speak to me.
Not the biggest or cheapest fish shop around, but it a fish shop around the town that has fish... can also put orders in.
Fantastic place , good prices, you can found everything there , absolutely amazing costumer service …
Purchase my 1st fish. Joe was extremely helpful and gave good advise. He went beyond service expectations …
Very nice little shop and nice people who are always happy to help. Good prices for good and healthy fish.
Salesman very knowledgeable, please tell experience for my 13 year old and my self..spent £44..well spent
Small but very nice fish and aquarium supplies store. The staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable.
They sold us fertiliser that was one year over expiry date. Generally, small, overpriced and old stock.
Bought plants which killed my existing fish, over priced and ridiculous attitude from one of the staff
