UPDATE! 11/06/2023 Just visit the AMC River Center Mall theater to want an unseen movie theater movie event that was going on and was not disappointed in the surprise movie that I watched. Very inspirational, heartwarming, passionate, Fun loving and very friendly PG-13 movie! Great Location! JUST WOULD LIKE TO MAKE AN UPDATE. NOW THAT AMC MOVIE THEATER IS OPEN. I WOULD LIKE TO HELP AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN TO HELP PEOPLE FIND THIS LOCATION. THEY DO VALIDATE PARKING IF YOU'RE GOING TO WATCH A MOVIE, YOU JUST NEED TO ASK.THE AMC IS INSIDE THE SHOPPING MALL & HAS TO LOCATIONS WITH IN THE MALL, ONES CALLED AMC IMAX MOVIE THEATER & THE OTHER IS AMC MOVIE THEATER. YOU MIGHT HAVE TO DO SOME WALKING TO GET TO EITHER LOCATION, BUT IT'S TOTALLY WORTH IT. A LOT OF GREAT ITEMS BETWEEN BOTH LOCATIONS BECAUSE YOU'RE IN A GREAT MALL IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS IN DOWNTOWN AREA. I TOOK SOME PICTURES HOPEFULLY YOU GET AN IDEA OF WHERE TO GO. I AM ALSO A MEMBER OF THE AMC A-LIST WHICH BY THE WAY I RECOMMEND GETTING TO GET IN & OUT AS POSSIBLE & GETTING GREAT DISCOUNT ALONG THE WAY. SINCE THINGS ARE REOPENING YOU MIGHT NEED TO ASK THE EMPLOYEES THAT YOU WANT ALCOHOL LIKE BEER & LIQUOR BY THE BAR, BUT OTHER THEN THAT THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY & HELPFUL. HOPEFULLY IN TIME, THINGS WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL & EVERYTHING WILL RUN MORE SMOOTHLY. I FEEL SAFE & COMFORTABLE IN RETURNING TO THE MOVIE THEATER & THANK GOD THAT I CAN SEE SOME OF THE GREATEST MOVIES IN THE AMC IMAX LIKE GODZILLA VS KONG. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO GIVE A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF OF THE AMC EMPLOYEE FOR BEING BRAVE & STRONG FOR GOING BACK TO WORK IN THESE HARD TIME WE ARE ALL GOING THROUGH. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN & GOD BLESS YOU ALL FOR GOING BACK TO THE MOVIE THEATER.
This place has been upgraded since the last time we were here. The theaters are comfortable with the reclining seats, easy to operate, and spacious. The snack bar has been upgraded and you'll pay about the same as other theaters. They have a fully stocked bar with beer and liquor, if that is your thing. I had a minor snafu with my AMC app, but I spoke to a manager and he took care of the issue right on the spot. No questions after I told him what happened. I ended up renewing my AMC Premier membership just based on the service here alone. Premier members don't pay fees ordering tickets online and when you arrive, they have a specific line just for Premier members! Restrooms were clean and handicap accessible. The 4 stars was just because there are only 1 set of restrooms and if you're at a movie at the far end, with a small child, you sort of have to rush down there and back to not miss a lot of the movie. Food choices were also great. Take advantage of the Premier membership, it's most definitely worth it. You'll get you money back on just a couple of visits. Guaranteed!! Lots of pictures of various spots and amenities. And don't forget to validate your parking ticket (I believe it's still 3 hours) and if you stay a little over the 3 hours, you'll pay a couple of dollars in case you decide to shop. Just remember to pay for your parking before you get.to the exit at the kiosk because they don't do cash anymore. Park on Level D, it takes you straight to the theater.
Finding this place was a nightmare. I'm visiting from Austin and I had no idea it was in the mall. Then after walking around the block in the rain, I finally figured it out. But then when I got inside, I was on the wrong floor; AMC IMAX is on one floor while the AMC theatre is above. I did some more running and finally made it to theatre 2 and a GIANT RAT ran in front of me! Regardless, I found my seat which wouldn't recline, nor would the one to the right of me. Thankfully, the theatre was empty so I could move to another seat. There was also what appeared to be some dust or something on the screen or the projector, which causes a long, black vertical slash through the whole movie. Once the movie was over, I wanted this nightmare to end, so I left as quick as I could with no idea about the parking validation thing. But with my luck, I probably would have had issues with that being honored just like many other reviewers. An all-around bad experience.
This is my 3rd time going to the IMAX theater and overall I had a good experience. The picture quality was excellent and the sound was very immersive. However, I had a few minor issues. First, the seat numbering was difficult to see. The numbers were small and hard to read, especially in the dark. This made it difficult to find my seat. Second, the parking garage was difficult to get to after the movie was over. The mall closes off certain sections so it was like a maze to try to get to your car! Also, if you do park in the mall's partaking garage, don't forget that you can get your parking ticket validated! Overall, I would recommend the IMAX theater in San Antonio, but be aware of the seating and parking issues. If you are going to a late-night showing, I would recommend arriving early so you have plenty of time to find your seat and get to your car. I hope this helps!
Movies have always been a tradition for my family. AMC is a great company. I would like to see a few things addressed here. We went to the IMAX today. The theater had a smell. The carpet looked dirty and needed a cleaning or replaced. The seat I sat in was broken, and the arm rest felt sticky. The restrooms needed some TLC as well. The theater was cold and made it difficult to watch the movie comfortably. There were 2 guys on staff that didn't appear to be happy to work there. I am an investor, and this experience at the IMAX didn't help to instill confidence in the success of AMC. We can get there, but we need to address the opportunities.
Excellent service. Very clean facilities. I just saw Oppenheimer at 70mm IMAX. There was a woman in our reserved seats that refused to leave but the issue was resolved quickly and with such patience and kindness from the employees! Was very worried about how the rest of the experience would be but it went off without a hitch. Picture looked beautiful, sound was synced perfectly. Seats were slightly uncomfortable and might need to be updated soon but other than that, we had an amazing experience at this theater! I hope we can come again soon.
After many weeks of anticipation, and due to the amount of reviews stating that the movie theater would not play due to technical difficulties, I am happy that I got to enjoy watching Oppenheimer in 70 MM in IMAX. That's what I wanted. My priorities were on watching it how it was intended to be watched, and I enjoyed it. Yes, the seats were outdated and not reclinable, and we were a bit crammed. In the end, I got what I wanted. Even after driving for hours, I got to watch and enjoy the movie without any technical difficulties.
Theater validates parking tickets by giving you a sticker with a bar code, however upon exiting the parking garage we got a message that the bar code was invalid as it had already been used the day before at 3:11pm. We called the theater to complain/inform them but they would never answer the phone. So if you go, don’t be shocked if the garage validation sticker they give you has already been used. We ended up paying an extra $17 for parking that we shouldn’t have had to pay.
They remodeled it really nice! I like how you can just choose your own drink and do it yourself cause there's a lot of options! The new layout is actually done really well! I like the whole "feel". I actually really like the theater too! You can lay back all the way on the seats, which is pretty sweet! I Will go back again! Friendly staff and the bathrooms were done great as well.
This isn't the IMAX. It's separate location in the mall. The regular theater has a rat problem. I've seen one myself as I was trying to enjoy the movie. I left after this and was offered another ticket which I refused. I'm an A-List member but will be canceling because this theater doesn't know how to keep Mickey Mouse on the screen not the seats.
Very dirty! Most seats are torn. I know it's not their fault it's mostly the customers. For a movie theater being downtown it's disgusting. You would think it would be a very clean nice place being that a lot of tourist visit downtown but nope. I don't recommend. The young gentleman workers were very nice. That was the only good thing.
I had a great experience at this theater to watch Wakanda Forever. Although the seats in the IMAX needs to be upgraded, they don’t take away from an enjoyable time. I hadn’t watched a film on an IMAX screen in so long that I’d forgotten how amazingly different it is. So cool! The staff were very welcoming also.
I love this theater cause is so comfortable! They offer 3 hrs of free parking (level D) valid just with your movie tickets! The only thing I don't like is the combo prices! Almost $20 dlls. For a large popcorn and one large soda!! So expensive comparing with other theaters here in San antonio!
We came to view the "Price of Freedom", and I really think it added a great deal to our Alamo visit. While the film was excellent, the seats were extremely dated and very worn. I'd still recommend others to attend while doing all things Alamo, just be aware of the state of this IMAX theater.
Air is super stale and damp in the theaters. Chairs are very uncomfortable and small. When it says IMAX you're not getting the full experience unless it specifically says 70MM/4:3 format so you're just seeing a movie on a screen slightly larger than a normal movie theater.
This is absolutely the dirtiest, cramped, and run down theatre I have visited. For all the press about 70mm imax, imax should be appalled to have this as 1 of its signature properties in the US. It is hard to find seats, small seats, and bad lighting. Very disappointing.
Most of it was great! The concessions didn't take long. The lobby, bathrooms, and theater were all clean. Those seats, though! Lost 2 stars for the seats. I didn't know any theater still used the shared armrest seating. The sound and screen were AMAZING!!
They couldn't show the movie in the 70mm film that was the whole point in going. They did offer a refund but when you traveled from outside the city to see the film, that didn't give you much of a choice. Other than that, everything else was just fine.
The IMAX has what I would describe as the dirtiest seats I've ever seen at any AMC location. I almost considered leaving when I saw my seat. Additionally the seats are really uncomfortable. How do they expect customers to sit there for 2+ hours?!
IMAX theater is not even in the same area for AMC as it's a short walk thru the mall with no direction or sign where. However parking was validated at the end of my show since the person at the front looked confused about validating when we
Put a 2 star because the movie was great. I just just didn't like the fact that I asked an associate about the parking before I stayed at the mall and they told me that I would get my ticket validated. Upon leaving the finished movie I went
Went to theater 11 for the 70mm IMAX showing of Oppenheimer and was pretty disappointed. The projector was improperly focused, so the center of the screen was blurry, so much so that even some text was hard to read. The projector bulb also
The 70mm screen was impressive, however the staff were not very helpful, took 15 minutes to get the mozzarella sticks I ordered. Also if you’d like a physical ticket stub you must get it at the concessions stand BEFORE they scan it on your
Purchased 5 tickets to see Oppenheimer in 70MM IMAX on Monday, July 31st, for the 4:15PM showing. I read online that the opening weekend for the 70MM film was experiencing difficulties at this theater but got resolved. Fast forward to the
Saw "Wrath of Man"... such a great film. You can never go wrong with Jason Statham in a movie. Great popcorn, great customer service. The seats reclined a bit noisily. The theater speakers sounded good. No one talked during the movie. I'd
Saw Oppenheimer on 70mm IMAX here and it was a great way to watch the film but I wouldn’t return to this location again. Super outdated, old and uncomfortable seats, below average concessions. I had to pay $6 for the privilege of using a
Yall rude asl at the concession stand ngl.. the boy that helped and the man that stood there while I talked to someone else was nice everyone else was rude asl. how you burn a pizza that got a set timer?? That’s crazy pls pay attention.
We watched Oppenheimer on the Imax screen, which was awesome. But, it was unusually warm in the theater, so all six of us were kind of sweaty after 3 hours. Would have been 5 stars if the AC had been set appropriately.
Garbage, for cold popcorn and the manager makes you feel like an inconvenience. I bought into being a member and then found out the seats are broken n gross, ending membership and never going back
