A Street Auto is a gem in San Diego. While my car was in transit from Hawaii to Dallas it developed a leak on the fuel line. I called around to multiple shops and none of them would touch the car because it was an 81 camaro and too old for their mechanics. The owner Scott called me back personally and assisted me with the process. I normally hate taking vehicles to a mechanic but I had no choice as it would not ship from the port and I was in Minnesota. He reassured me that he would look at it and only do what was needed in order to get the car running safely and capable of shipping. After fixing the problem he called me informed me the vehicle was ready to ship. The shipping company was unable to come out the same day and the vehicle would have to stay overnight. He secured my car on this lot over night so it was locked up and protected. He called and let me know the next day the car was good but the battery had died overnight. He continued to help me out by charging the battery and getting the car running again. The shipping company arrived and as they were going to load the car it proceeded to die. After looking under the hood again Scott noticed the car was out of fuel due to the previous leak. Scott paid for fuel from his own pocket to make sure the car could ship that day. He did not ask for it back and called and informed me that I may need to recalibrate my fuel gauge. But the car was able to ship. I owe the team at A Street auto a huge thank you recommend they to everyone in the area. It made the experience way better than it could have been. Thank you once again Scott.

I recently purchased my first car from a faraway dealership (and made the incredible mistake of not having A Street inspect it before purchase). However, I was lucky enough to go in the following day for a second opinion. I’ll add that they were the only mechanic that would take a same-day appointment. Unfortunately, the car had a couple of flaws. Had I not brought the car in to A Street, I would’ve faced some major problems down the road. The car purchase posed some legality issues and Scott coached me through how to approach it with the dealership. Additionally, he went above and beyond by giving me after-market warranty options, legitimate dealership contacts, and more. The car’s exhaust piece was cracked (with a hefty $1,800 quote) but Scott and his team were able to weld together the piece flawlessly so I wouldn’t shell out unnecessary cash. I’m only thankful for the stressful situation because Scott and his team backed me up all the way and made the car good as new. I took my 2001 Daewoo in because I was being thrown around on the streets and freeways. Originally another mechanic told me that I just needed front control arms or ball joints. And that it wasn't something I needed right away!! However, when the mechanics at A Street Auto Service looked at the suspension they told me I was driving a death trap vehicle!!! Things were frozen and worn out and my suspension safety was totally a danger to myself and other drivers. A Street Auto completely fixed my front in suspension and few other things that needed immediate attention. The fellows there are very friendly and efficient. I recommend their service to everyone. They are not like most mechanics taking advantage of women clients and their prices are AMAZING!!! If you'd like they will give you the old parts - proof that the job has been completed and that the part (s) itself needed to be replaced. I live in Los Angeles and the drive is well worth with it to receive such great service. I just cannot thank you enough for repairing my car and making me be a safe car on the road again!!! I am so glad I found A Street Auto!! What an amazing experience. I moved to San Diego in 2011. I found myself in a real predicament, being not car savvy, ( I didn't trust mechanics) I needed to get some major work done on my car. I checked out a lot of places, but as I've usually found, most of them gave me the run around. When I went into A Street Auto (just by chance) I was amazed at the honest no baloney way Scott told me what was wrong with my car. He did not make it sound worse than it was, but he told me exactly what was wrong, what we had to do right away and what could wait a little. I so appreciated his candid analysis, that I went ahead with the work. I was not disappointed at all. The work was finished when he said it would be, and the price was exactly the price he had quoted me. I found his sons that work for him to be just as honest and professional in their work also. I have since recommended my mom and several friends and they have been glad for the referral. I recommend the whole team at A Street Auto highly I would not go anywhere else.

Amazing service and kindness. My daughter and I were down from LA and the car engine light came on in flashing mode. I'm thinking we're stuck until Monday. We limp the car into A Street Auto on Saturday around noon and tell Scott our story. My daughter has a babysitter job that evening and she asked Scott if she'll make it in time. He says she will. So her and I wander around the area eat some lunch and wait to get a call from Scott. I'm thinking the worst, we are at his mercy. The call comes in and he says he needs a few hours for his son to fix the car and it's a fairly minor problem and he will get us home safely and in time for my daughter's babysitter job. A Street auto saved the day. I swear I feel like driving my whole families cars down there on vacation and let him service them all. I had a great experience coming here, both in the service provided and the of the employees. I’m not from the area and had luckily happen to had just parked across the street when my truck started to overheat. Being 3-4 hrs away from home, I was definitely in need of some assistance and stopped in really quick to see if I could get some help. Scott and his team were extremely helpful and friendly. Not only did they help me out with what I needed to be able to get back home, but they also gave me useful information to take with me about what other work I may need to get done to keep my truck in good condition. If I lived closer I’d definitely be coming here for all my vehicle needs, and if I’m ever in the area again and need some work done again, I wouldn’t even have to search for another place, hands down best mechanic experience I’ve ever had.

Read on: I have known and used Scott, his son Chris and the boys at A-Street for about a decade + for both of my cars. They like what they do and they like to see happy clients. They show you the part that broke, or show you where and why something needs to be worked on. They are patient, courteous, talk to your level and always, always are straight with you--even if it financially painful. I can't remember ANY time I didn't walk away feeling I got taken advantage of--and Scott, if your reading this, feel free to look up the number of times I've come in. Bottom line: A-Street is trustworthy and do excellent work. You're a fool if you don't give them a chance to work on your car and see for yourself...

Absolutely phenomenal. Remembered these guys from years ago when my car had to get towed and the tow guy recommended them as cheap & effective; when my car had to go through extensive body repair (an act of god blew a lamp down on the trunk), I knew where to bring it. Not only did they keep me constantly updated on progress with the insurance estimate (a nightmare), they ended up saving me money on parts, catching a separate repair that needed to be fixed urgently, and negotiated with the insurance company for a replacement of my badly-damaged quarter panel (which wasn't going to be covered initially). They give your car a full detail, top up air and fluids, it's just the way it should be. Everyone here is awesome, good people, and I'm so glad to know they're around for my car needs!

I've been taking my cars to Scott and his team for 6+ years now and highly recommend their work. They are fair, honest, affordable (I imagine I've saved $1Ks over the years coming here instead of a name-brand shop), locally / family owned, and a pleasure to do business with. On multiple occasions Scott has gone out of his way to help me out and keep costs down. Just recently we were having a tough time passing a smog test and over the course of several weeks, a dozen phone calls and 5+ re-tests, it passed. No added charges for the extra work. This is just one example of the stellar service I've gotten from these guys over the years. Again, highly recommend patronizing this local, family business!

I just want to say that I was getting to the point of almost selling my car because I didn't want to struggle with it. Then a friend told me about A street auto service, I looked them up on the internet, I called that day and talked to Scott. The team at A Street Auto is fantastic. I was in San Diego from out of town and had to have a headlight bulb replaced ... they did it on my time scale, were super nice, got me a better quality but not super expensive bulb, and charged me a VERY reasonable rate. Once that was done and I’d paid, something went wrong with my car seat, so they spent another 30 minutes diagnosing and fixing that, and when I asked what I owed them for the work, Scott said nothing! I pushed a little and still he didn’t charge me. I’m tempted to make the 2-hour drive down here next time I have a car issue!! Really great outfit, I highly recommend.

This place saved me a bunch of money! The dealership told me I needed to replace my entire brake light assembly ($300+ to fix). They said it was melted and they couldn’t put in a new bulb. Took the car here because they quoted me a better price for the repair. Chris decided to double check the problem before changing out the whole assembly and he saw that nothing was melted and it just needed a new brake light bulb put in which they only charged me $35 to do. They could have easily pulled one over on me but they are honest and professional and have integrity (plus they are really nice, too). This place is awesome!

I took my mom to the hospital and when we came out, someone had backed out of their parking place, bashing into my bumper, without leaving a note or phone number or anything. I took it to the guy I trust. Scott at A Street Auto and his sons that work there are amazing. They do everything they can to fit you in and work quickly and efficiently to get the job done. Story begins with a flat tire. Not any ordinary flat tire. We foreign object on the road that resulted in total damage of the tire plus the wheel. A street auto team tried to repair the wheel, but due to safety reasons, they couldn’t patch it. Regardless, Scott worked diligently in trying to acquire a used wheel, but no luck. He ended up purchasing a new wheel and got two fresh tires within my budget. I dropped off my car in the AM, they got it fixed and detailed by 6pm. Really, a great team to work with and they kept in touch with me throughout the day. I highly recommend this place!

Terrific humans! They go above and beyond for their customers. Treated me like family and were always friendly and attentive, even though I could tell the shop was super busy. I needed a quick oil change, inspection and new tires and they handled everything in such a thoughtful and caring manner. My check engine light came on suddenly on the day before Christmas Eve and in spite of being late in the day and busy, A Street Auto checked out my car and helped me out. They were able to find the problem and fix it in a few days. I felt really taken care of and they took the time to explain everything to me. Sean was so kind and informative. My car got done at an appropriate time (a little over a day) I was able to also get a loaner car for a day which was so helpful. I had to change my brakes and rotors. The cost was about 2k I do drive a Jeep wrangle and did need one new tire also. They gave me a solid quote with all the things I needed like break fluid, balancing etc etc was on the quote with all of the cost and labor on it. I felt comfortable with the prices. Good shops with good prices are hard to find. I will be returning because the trust is absolutely there!

Scott, the owner, took excellent care of me. He took the time to listen fully to my problem and resolve the issue in a timely manner. My particular issue could have been solved a number of ways, and he walked me through the various options, and we both decided to go the route that was most cost effective as my issue was not a serious concern integral to the mechanics of the car. I have had the best experience at A Street Auto than I have ever had in my life! They are a very successful family business because they can be trusted to never over charge, and are very knowledgeable, professional, and really care that your vehicle is running perfectly and that you know exactly what they did. So let me start off by saying thank you to A Street Automotive! My car started smoking right in front of the shop so I pulled over freaking out!! They immediately came over and started checking it out. I ended up leaving it there for the night so they could check it out better the next day. Turns out,rear ending a car can do some damage! Haha. This place is absolutely Awesome. I was in San Diego on vacation and one of my coolant hoses and pipes went bad. They were extremely busy (as you can see in the pictures) routing customers to other shops by phone but still took the time to help me. The owner, Scott said he built his business by helping people in need. My wife had an important meeting that day and because of their help we were able to make. JR is awesome he has been working there for a while. We need more people and shops like this in our world.

This is probably one of my best experiences coming to a mechanics shop. I’m from LA so I know how shady mechanics can be. But this place was like a white horse coming to our rescue. My friend and so we’re having issues with her hood latch being broken and this place helped us not only fix the emergency latch but also put oil in her car and water for the windshield wipers to send us on our way. I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I’m in town and have car troubles. 10/10 service.

Scott and the team at A Street Auto are incredible. No one likes going to auto body shops, and there's a reputation that you will get overcharged for labor. That couldn't be further from the truth with this business. I got an oil change and car detail that left my car looking AMAZING. I few years back i brought my jeep into A Street Auto. They are an honest family owned business that are very knowledgeable. With Scott's expertise and assistance I turned my jeep from a mall crawler to rock crawler. I had my entire jeep upgraded from a lift kit, control arms, body armor, custom fenders, custom gas tank, custom lights, new roll cage, new cooling system, seats at A Street Auto. Incredible service, can't recommend enough. Had a problem with my exhaust that was quoted at $1800 to completely replace it at another nearby place. Instead of telling me I need to pay the $1800, they fixed my exhaust issue for an hour worth of labor. Front desk staff was friendly, and they walked me through the whole issue and showed me pictures when I got in. Will definitely be taking my car here for all issues moving forward!
