Unfortunately, and sadly, after being a long time supporter of this Iraqi immigrant business I have had to change my opinion because of the absolute rudeness and unfriendliness of the younger family members who now staff the store. There are several other laundromats that are cheaper and more polite..... I will not return to this place and I recommend you don't either. There are negative reviews on Yelp and Google which accurately describe the arrogance, rudeness and disrespect of the staff of this business towards our customers which are the lifeblood of any business. Today I came and spent $40 .....$20 on overpriced laundry (5.50 washers?) and $20 for a sandwich (also very overpriced). The younger woman making the sandwich named Julia asked me rudely "how much tip you give me if I make sandwich" ... That smacked of a greedy mercenary... That is both uncalled for and rude. The 2 younger (30 -something) Iraqi men who work here are, and have always been rude, arrogant, and condescending especially to Americans. Reverse racism in action They spend their entire time yelling in Arabic to each other, ignoring customers. What was once a well-run family business has been run into to the ground by the younger generation that has no respect has no concept of kindness to customers and could care less about their elder family members investments. The people preparing food don't even wear gloves or hair nets, in violation of health regulations, I found a hair on my sandwich. Despite several complaints the staff allowed some filthy homeless woman to unload and organize, in tweaker fashion, all of her shopping cart belongings blocking the door and part of the deli eating area. Obviously, they have no standards, and do not care a bit about their regular normal customers.

Unfortunately it looks as though my experience was the same as a lot of other people in this thread. My partner and I were visiting America for a month and decided to do some laundry in San Diego. We googled a laundry close to our hotel in the Gaslamp district and this one popped up. We walked in and put our clothes in the washing machine and looked around for a staff member so that we could buy some washing powder and get some change however the laundry was unstaffed. We could see into the back ‘staff only’ area where there appeared to be washing powder stacked up and so I walked closer to see if there may be a staff member sitting out there. As I did, a staff member (woman) had walked into the laundry from the front and yelled “yes?!” to me rudely. I said “I’m just needing to purchase some washing powder” to which she yelled “next door!!” And then stormed out of the laundry and didn’t come back. We walked next door to an attached grocery store where there were plastic tubs of washing powder for sale on the front counter. The man running the grocery store was very lovely and accommodating and it appears the grocery store and laundry are owned by the same family. There is no signage in the laundry to advise that you need to go next door to the grocery store to buy washing powder or get coins for the machine and so we wouldn’t have known to do this had the rude lady not appeared. I wish I could leave a positive review based on how lovely the man in the grocery store was however, customer service is very important to me and I feel like the brand of the laundromat could be damaged by the rude lady and the lack of simple instruction / direction - especially when the laundromat is unstaffed.

Price scam. A guy who I assumed was homeless followed me in here off the street, but then proceeded to gesture for me to start weighing my clothes. I still have no idea if he worked there or was just a homeless guy wanting tips. So I ask him if two of my good pants can be hung to dry and he points toward a guy behind a sandwich counter. I ask the same question to sandwich counter guy who clearly has no idea what I'm talking about. Finally a guy at yet another register seems to understand, so I leave my small load (less than 5 lbs.) of clothes with two pants to hang to dry. He tells me they need at least 4 hours regardless of all the postings that say "2-hour service." When I come back 4 hours later, they charge me $20 for 5 lbs. of laundry (apparently there is a 10 lbs., or $20 minimum charge that just now entered the conversation) and ALL of my items have been hung to dry (read: are still wet). So I carry my stack of wet pajamas and wet ratty college t-shirts the 8 blocks home by hand after being intentionally overcharged by double. You've been warned.

Being on the road a lot it's hard for me to say that a service or something truly impresses me. Today I have had that experience... from a freakin laundromat no less! These guys offer a wash and fold service for $2 a pound (10 lb minimum) and for $5 delivered it back to my hotel. When I came back to my hotel after work there was a nice white bag like you would get buying something at a nice retail store. A blue bow tied the handles together and a matching blue sheet of tissue paper cover my clothes underneath. They even had a packet of tea for me as a gift on top of the tissue paper. When I opened the bag and uncovered my clothes they were very neatly folded and the items were fully organized keeping the like items together, shirts on top, followed by my jeans and so on. Can't believe I'm sitting here writing a glowing review of a laundry but believe me, if I'm ever needing my laundry done while on the road in San Diego again, these guys will definitely get my business!

I enjoyed this place a lot. The washing machine and dryers were abundant and reasonably priced and clean. There were several serviceable washing machines and dryers. I usually rate lower if they have broken and unserviceable dryers. The convenience store attached to this laundromat is also great. I ordered a local sandwich while I cleaned my dirty laundry. The sandwich was good and the folks running the place are pleasant and professional. There is no change machine but the cashier clerk was available for change if you needed it. The routine of doing my laundry and order a good tasting sandwich made with premium cold cuts at a reasonable price is worth coming back to 4th ave cleaners if I’m in this town again. Recommend this place if you need to clean your laundry and have a bite to eat.

I would never! go back to this place. They are dishonest people, I paid for my laundry And the machine Did not work, when I went to the owner to tell about this instead of trying to fix the machine for me she called me a liar And she claim I didn’t pay, (She didn’t even check), after that she called a guy to threaten me to get out of the store instead of trying to make it a right. Those are dishonest people I will highly recommend you not to go there. This place is a joke Do yourself a favor and don’t go near them. They will take your money and then threaten you in violence in order for you to get out of their place. Those people are violent! and dishonest.

The young lady, who was employed there, is very IMPOLITE and rude, even though I say her that I've never been there before. I just wanted her to explain me how the machines work and she just didn't feel like doing it. SInce I am a tourist from Europe. And as she was giving me the coins, she just smashed them onto the desk!!!! Edited: The machines are working fine. The owner gave me a nice call, where he apologized and sounded like a nice gentleman. I am sure, this will be taken care of.

Been using 4th Ave Cleaners for a couple of years now and even though they don't have all the fancy apps and stuff that the other services have, this is a GREAT service. On time, never any items missing, and responsive to issues. They have made a couple mistakes here and there but Alex, the owner, has always handled like a true professional and that's what makes me come back. If you're looking for a great laundry service, esp one that can do a great 24 hour turn around, this is IT!

  • Steven Fastow

This is my go to place for wash and fold when I'm staying in San Diego for work. It's convenient and they are always on time. My clothes comes back smelling and looming great. They do pick up and delivery but I have yet to use this service as I am able to drop off on my way to work and pick up on my way back to my hotel. At $2/lb it's relatively inexpensive and saves me so much time as well as hassle sitting in a laundromat when my hotel doesn't have laundry on site.

  • Melissa Twitchell

Was so easy! I needed clothes washed for my family of five traveling 10 days. Found this place and so many good reviews...I thought I would try it. They were very friendly when I dropped off my 22 lbs of laundry! Love that they deliver to hotels! Clothes were back to me earlier than promised and were delivered neatly in a large bag lined with tissue paper tied shut with ribbon. Clothes were folded and ready for me to put away! I am a happy mom of three!

All machines are old, not that is always a problem but coupled cost of drying makes for a not so pleasurable experience. NO bathroom even for costumers. That is what makes the washing experience a terrible. If your washing clothes you will be in their facility for at minimum a hour and half woth no access to restrooms. No idea for the people who keep the lights on . Find a different place that respects its customers

  • Miss Pachi

I used their wash-and-service recently - dropped off my laundry before 10am, could collect it 4pm onwards. Convenient and fuss-free. Laundry smelled fresh and was packed neatly in a paper bag. So much more affordable compared to hotel rates! The location of that area doesn't look the best so I made sure to deposit and collect my laundry before dark. Would recommend this place overall.

  • Deborah Sandberg

The washers have gone up to $6.00/load and the dryers require $2.50 just to turn on. They offer no chairs, are consistently rude to me - if I sit on the floor, someone will scream at me, accuse me of sleeping and not utilizing the laundry service, and throw me out, even when I locate washer or dryer and start packing clothes. Price increase floored me, not going back.

  • Louis Domiano

I am well versed in laundrymats and this is a good one. Cheap (especially for where its located) and a store connected to it that sells everything including single servings of detergent, fabric softwnwr, and dryer sheets. Even has a nice deli wirh fresh food and sandwiches. They even have a lottery machine inside! Buy a scratcher whike you wait for your laundry

  • Jason

As far as laundromats go, this place is great. First of all, the laundromat is connected to a deli/convenience store that will sell you rolls of quarters ($10/each) and has freshly made snacks that are actually quite tasty. They even have fresh fruit and sandwiches made to order. Oh yeah, the laundry machines work great too and are reasonably priced.

  • Greeneyes Smiling

I liked it because it was close to where I was staying. They have had some issues with broken down washers and dryers. Right now a regular wash is $3.00 a wash. Their dryers are 25 cents for 5 minutes. If you don’t have change, they will give you quarters, so that was a plus. The owners have been helpful to me and you can sit outside while doing your laundry.

  • Dan Andreyka

Very rude and inconsiderate I'll never go there again. Definitely don't do your laundry there it's expensive with no AC and it's hot. I was there in the evening and he would hardly let me in. He says I have no single beers. I said I don't want any beer. Spending $50 later I'm checking out and he says I annoy him and I didn't even talk to the idiot.

  • Stefan Galler

Very nice people and cleaning service! We wanted to wash about 25 pounds of laundry by ourselves, but then found out there's a service to get it washed, tried and folded (2 dollar per pound) and delivered to your hotel for 5 dollar. We picked up our stuff at the hard rock reception the next day and everything was perfect - thank you very much!

  • Alan Thornhill

Awesome cleaners with prompt service! Very fairly priced as well. I was visiting on a business trip with a large group and they even delivered the clean laundry for free to our hotel when our group dropped our laundry off on the same day. I will recommend them without hesitation to anyone coming to visit the San Diego area!

  • Rishi Alain Mungal

This place is great. Very helpful when I called a few times to ask them questions. They had a duffle bag worth of clothes washed, folded and delivered to my hotel within a few hours. A huge help for anyone who has a good amount of laundry that might otherwise cost $$$$ with hotel cleaning fees. Well worth it!

  • Aisea Mounga

Most of my clothes were stolen and the workers there were unwilling to show the full security camera tape. 2 Arabic/Middle Eastern women that work there were highly suspicious. They can’t dress so they needed it more than me. Keep an eye on them when you’re washing and drying your clothes

  • Ashley Hanna

Best spot in town for wash and fold service. They always do a great job at removing stains and fold the clothes professionally and give it back in a nice bag. One stop shop for all my dry cleaning and laundry needs. With a convenience store and delicious deli to enjoy right next door.

  • Dawn Smith

Dropped of 12 pounds of clothes and one item to have hem put up. I left them there and picked up the next day. I did the wash and fold option and I am very happy with the service. $15 to put hem up on slacks and $24 for wash and fold. They did a great job and I would recommend them.

  • Lee Mc Donald

Small but clean. Has a tailoring service and a drop off laundry. It's also connected to the Deli next door (same owner) which makes good fresh food to order at a decent price. If you live in the Downtown area, you should check this place out. Staff is very friendly. Good service.

  • Lyndell Moore

The drop off and pick up laundry service is amazing,! I highly recommended it. The staff gives great customer service and the dry cleaning service is the best in downtown or the hillcrest area. The food in the deli is made fresh everyday and is inexpensive and delicious.

  • Helen Evans-Lemmo

Really great service. Fresh veggies were great to take out for snacks. Delivered the washing beautifully folded to the hotel early totally clean. Including all of my boys clothes (which were really dirty when dropped off). Highly recommended to visitors staying nearby.

  • Sara Spence

The owners are some of the best people I've met in California! This laundromat is clean and in a very convenient location. They also have a store connected to the laundromat they sell some of the best sandwiches! I can't wait to go back and buy another one!!!

  • Davide Pedranz

Differently from some reviews, the personal was polite and nice. I handed off the cloths in the morning and got them back in the evening the same day, cleaned and folded. Price was reasonable for the service, and way more convenient then hotels. Recommended!

  • Oliveiro Rodrigues

After a 10 day journey that started in San Francisco, it was a relief to find this location in Gaslamp District and a very short walk from our hotel (Marriot Courtyard Gaslamp). I met with the owner who was a very sweet lady and she helped

  • J B

Great place. Yes, it’s a little sketchy around there. As far as the service goes, it’s great. Friendly, helpful staff. Straightforward pricing. Left my family’s laundry in the morning, picked it up all washed and folded five hours later

  • Tina Turner

Unfortunately I was denied service At midnight when I arrived, though their ad states they close at 2 am, which I thought was great, but, it's actually midnight or whenever they feel. False advertising and they were rude about it too.

  • Thomas Baty

First impression follows. Five of fifteen driers out of order. Two of four high-capacity front loader washers out of order. All sixteen toploaders working. $4.50 per frontloader wash. $3.00 per toploader wash. Frontloader is 3 times

  • David

Great spot open all night long, no frills and reasonable prices for the washers. Attached to a convenience store also open late. Owners are friendly, machines are sturdy and get the job done. No coin machine, machines take quarters.

  • Joe Schuch

We called ahead and verified $2/lb wash & fold, dropped off our laundry, returned 4-hrs later to pickup and were charged $20 + tax for 7 lbs of laundry. Only then did they tell us of the 10-pound minimum. A disappointment.

  • Victor Bueno

I would never EEVER!! Go back to this place. Wasted 20 in quarters on machines that are way past IT S END OF LIFE. we all love to look at Aladan who runs the grocery part... But damn, he's not concerned for anything or any

  • Paul Breshears

Do NOT do laundry here. We stopped in while on a trip and all of our clothes were ruined with grease spots of some sort after drying. Absolutely terrible. I now have to replace four people’s clothing while on vacation

  • Andrew Stec

I excellent wash, fold and delivery service. I dropped off my clothes and wash, fold and same day delivery to my hotel cost me $30. That same service at my hotel would have cost me $130. Thank you 4th avenue cleaners!

  • RayView

Very convenient. They picked up my laundry at the hotel at 10am. Then they dropped it of by 6. Everything was washed great and folded. None of the articles were shrunk. I will definitely use again before we leave.

  • Elias Perez

Excellent service. $25 for up to 10lb of clothing, washed and folded and delivered to your hotel room. I used them and they delivered to the Grand Hyatt. Much faster and cheaper than the hotel service. Thanks.

  • philip kay

Great Landry service for a traveler. Was staying In San Diego for a few days and required some general washing. They did it all for a very reasonable price and dropped it off at the hotel for a small charge.

  • Daniel Reed

Laundromat. Great open hours. If need coins for machines, can get @ connected store; & laundry supplies. Has both top load (most) & front load (HE) machines, different sizes (loads). Large dryers.

  • Steven Hill

Global travel creates a laundry nightmare. I dropped off my entire clothing supply, bar what I was wearing, and had it delivered back at the hotel, 6 hours later. A saving of $157 on hotel rates.

  • Doug Eberhardt

Lina is great at getting spots out! I do a ton of dry cleaning and take it all here. Good prices and never had a problem. Also good at tailoring. Super fast turnaround too.

  • Symone Carter

This place is fine it's just in a sketchy area so be careful and just watch your stuff, washing is 4.75 or 3.00 depending on machine and drying is .25 for five minutes

  • Arthur Lee Harris

I like washing my clothes here because they have big washers. I don't have to walk up and down the stairs back and forth I can just sit here and I'm done. duces.

  • Vikki Tokarz

Slightly sketchy, and felt mildly uncomfortable while I was washing my clothes. The attendant was behind a Plexiglas window partition and while I first wondered

  • hector nava

Nasty they don't clean the soap dispenser smells like piss and really expensive only good thing is if you need to wash last minute on a late night

  • Mike Darrin

Wash and fold services for my Airbnb are great. I use them for my buildings in downtown for wash and fold all of our sheets , towels and bedding

  • Tadeo Escobar

Super friendly, lots of space and machines to use also has a connected convenience store to grab a bite to eat while you do laundry

  • Nicole Zaya

The best spot for dry cleaning. Quick, easy, clean. Don’t think about it just do it. Great customer service as well.
