Undecided. I've lived in and around Austin for over 60 years. Currently live just West of town so I don't make it into the city often. My wife and I wanted to visit Toy Joy for future reference since we have a lot of grandchildren. Anyway, made it to the district and circled around looking for parking. The area was filled with people walking, riding, and scootering around. I was mesmerized by all of the wonderful activity. People eating outside, milling around, going in and out of shops, etc. It was like another world compared to what I was used to from decades past. We never made it to the store because I couldn't figure out parking. Next time I'll have to do a little recon because we certainly want to go back. The energy there is electrifying. I loved it!

I'm guessing by the shops this is a "Lit" area especially on the weekends..The amount of homeless lingering is concerning seemed to be approached every time I stopped.. Coming from Houston I'm kinda used to it, offer my kind Motivational speaking words and move along.... I love the scooter idea this is brilliant in getting around the city, Houston needs to adopt this badly.. I'll spend a little more time next trip to add some reviews...

Super laid back. This is the area of downtown that I like. Things are nice and clean and not as many variables, like innocently getting punched in the back of the head. I come here when I don't feel like spending the rest of my life in a comma. I used to work downtown, stay in this area, there's plenty to enjoy.

Royal blue in 3d and Colorado is the best! You can find everything you might need and in a few minutes out of the door. Katie and the crew, my Boston friend are super helpful and great friends. We simply don't go just to buy but to chat with our friends there. And leave happy with a big smile! ♥️ …

Went to Violet Crown Movies and saw Downhill. Cinema was surprisingly nice. Full bar and lots of food options. The popcorn was some of the best I've ever had from a theater. The big difference was the REAL butter. I would definitely go here again if Im ever in town again. You won't be disappointed.

Solid food and our waitress was nice. It didn't take long for food that is made fresh. $66 got us a porkchop entree (delicious), a flat bread pizza, the soup of the day (seafood bisque wasn't my favorite), a cocktail, and tea. Worth coming back for if you're looking for a stepped up meal.

Austin is a great city to visit. We highly recommend visiting for the live music, BBQ, etc, but like many big cities these days, the homeless problem is significant and the homeless were particularly aggressive in this city, even as compared to NY and San Francisco.

Went for the Heilung Ritual and was Very impressed by the indoor sound quality as well as the soundproofing of the facility! Beautiful location near to the River, and security got us all in fairly efficiently considering the line wrapped around the block a bit.

Went here during Snovid 19. The staff was terrific and accommodating. Really appreciative that they opened because I was running out of food and water. Will make it a point to stop back in again. Also clean, following mask mandate and overall great vibe.

Ok, so this is supposed to be a thriving outdoor shopping mall but actually, at least when we visited, there really weren’t that many stores to visit. Don’t get me wrong, there are a few stores here but they were mostly women’s clothing stores.

i feel extremely comfortable in the district. as a woman, this is important. walking around at night feels safe, and there's many well lit areas. during the day there's a comfortable amount of people about and no shortage of shops and eateries.

Staff was very attentive and sweet and knowledgeable. Food was authentic and an excellent rendition of the Mexico City fare. We were lucky to get an order of chapulines and they were excellent. Drinks were superb if mezcal is up your alley.

The shopping is great wether it's for the Ms. Or the kids there is something for everyone including yourself! I like to toke up and hit the candy store with the kids and get a bunch of Scooby snacks.! The Ms. likes to go to all the stores

This place is a little sketchy, not gonna lie. I went out with a bigger group but throughout there is a bit of homelessness. Good restaurants and stuff near the hotels but a warning from our Lyft driver to not go out after hours.

  • The Bunny

It's mostly too expensive and inaccessible, like most of the high-end nonsense in downtown Austin. Yet still, it is filthy with bird waste and garbage everywhere and more impoverished homeless folks who can barely afford a meal.

Very nice street with coffee shops, bistros and gourmet restaurants and great shops. Different vibes than 6th and Rainey streets but in a good way! Be sure to check out the Willie Nelson statue at 2nd and Lavaca.

  • Jacqueline Barron (Jacks)

I really enjoy the second street district and all it entails. It's a hip place with a cool vibe and it has wonderful shops and places to eat. What's not to love! Check it out, you won't be disappointed...

This is a great little waking area. I really enjoyed checking out the remnants of the old power plant that they preserved. The top floor of the library has a nice view of the whole area. Very interesting!

Cute spot. Cool candy AND Toy Joy right next door! Cute, BUT I also recommend the locations on Airport. I think they have a cooler selection. But I love me some Toy Joy Yummy Joy any day a Joy Joy …

  • Steven Hoover

One of my favorite areas of downtown with a good mixture of shops and food. Everything is clean and nicely presented. Don't have to deal with homeless people like you do with other parts of downtown.

  • Vanessa Gaviola

Nice district with some shops and restaurants. Recommend Lamberts for bbq, as well as Cru for wine and food. 2nd Street boutique has cool souvenirs.. You can get a great massage at Milk and Honey.

Nice safe outdoor shopping area. The you store is fantastic! There are a couple of nice men's clothing stores and several for women. It is within walking distance of the nearby hotels.

  • janna k

Too hot for daytime in September. Otherwise a really nice walk, shop, eat street. Some stores still try to push Bo-Peep 100% polyester dresses in 100 degree Texas weather.

  • Miranda Thomason

An area of nice restaurants and shops not far from East Sixth St or the Congress St Bridge. Plenty of paid parking in this area. In walking distance to some nice hotels.

  • James Cousins

Very "proper" district. Great place for a walk or to sit down for a coffee and meal. There is a unique sculpture of Willie Nelson here among other pieces of artwork.

  • William Brown

What a fun and friendly place, so much to do and see. Great 7/11 and the homeless people were very friendly, full of advice, and great with directions.

  • Teresa Escarsega

The apartments are really nice inside but the stairwell and elevator smell of piss. Super expensive and have to pay for parking pass for your visitors

  • Delwin Goss

Downtown Austin blows. Unsafe. Dirty. Overcrowded. Horrible traffic. LET closures and detours everywhere. Way..way overpriced parking lots.

  • Christian N

Donut Doug is my favorite homeless dood at that district. The construction gives a nice relaxing ambient background noise.️ …
