Front staff upon walking in were super amazingly friendly and welcoming. Chelsea and Colby were so friendly and welcomed me like a friend even though it was my first visit to this salon. My stylist was basic friendly not overly but that didn’t bother me too much. I did feel like he didn’t hear my vision for what I wanted. I felt as though his opinion because the new vision which I did welcome but I did have hesitance with speaking on my hair cut specifically as I feel that he really didn’t hear me on what I wanted. He also didn’t say very much to me the first 2 hours, it was very awkward. Not sure I would book with him again, perhaps not the right fit, but overall my hair colour turned out ok but wasn’t my vision going into it. My hair still looked good, I am slightly disappointed that someone with as much experience as him really didn’t get the basics of customer service. Otherwise the front staff made the visit amazing! Colby and Chelsea were so welcoming that I’ll definitely be back but perhaps not see the same stylist. Would definitely recommend going here for the atmosphere, my experience could have been slightly better but still good overall!

I’ve been going here since April and I can truly say getting my haircut here has been one of the best experiences of my life. Not only is it a super cozy/welcoming environment, but the staff and hairstylists are incredibly friendly and fun to be around which takes the entire experience to another level. I’ve been going to Colby for my short haircuts and color and I can guarantee you’ll end each appointment feeling like a million bucks. She’s incredibly precise/detail oriented (literally remembered all my preferences within the first couple of cuts) and is a complete wizard when it comes to color. Each style idea I present to her is executed perfectly but most of all is CONSISTENT! The level of care and attention definitely shows in each cut - you’d be doing yourself a massive disservice if you don’t book an appointment with her! In summary: 1977 is the best. No question.

I followed Nikki B from another salon because she's absolutely amazing and until I started seeing her I was having issues finding a stylist I wanted to return to. Nikki knows exactly what I'm looking for, colour and cut wise, and has never failed to deliver. Everything she does is absolutely stellar. Since I started going to Nineteen Seventy-Seven I also had the absolute pleasure of getting my hair cut by Kelsey (whose attention to detail is just *chef's kiss*) and styled by Chelsea who gave me the perfect updo for an incredible evening out. I have been going to this salon for a decade now and my husband has been going for a haircut to this salon for at least five years. Everyone is very professional and very talented. I just love their friendly staff, especially their lovely receptionist. The young couple owing the salon is super cool and kind. It was very hard for me to find a salon that can manage my extremely difficult hair. After 10 years searching I found these guys that I would follow to another Universe. Jeremy is hands down the best hair stylist in town. His talent when it comes to hair colouring is unmatched.

Now that Cherry has touched my hair, I will never let anyone do anything to it ever again except for her. I have been to multiple high end salons in Calgary and I’ve never walked out of a hair appointment and felt like the stylist went above and beyond until Cherry started doing my colour. I have been going to Molly at Nineteen Seventy- Seven since she began at the salon but have been a dedicated customer of hers for much longer. Following her from salon to salon has been the best decision. She is always so professional and truly cares about her clients needs. I went a dark chocolate brown to slowly lightening over the past few months until we achieved my level of desired blonde. My hair has stayed strong and healthy throughout and I truly trust her professional judgment and usually like her take the wheel. I always end up happy!

I got a haircut by Colby at this salon and she is AMAZING. I am super lazy and wanted a hair cut to accentuate my natural curl, but also nothing crazy and she gave me a baby shag and it’s perfect!!! So easy to maintain and style throughout the week. I have also never had someone cut my bangs so perfectly to look cute in a natural curl shag, but transition to curtain bangs when I style my hair. She is also a lovely person to talk to and the salon is beautiful and clean as well! This will definitely be my regular spot and recommend highly!!

I just wasted a $100 haircut! I was disappointed with the result. My daughter asked for a long wolf cut and showed sample photos for the hairstylist.After the haircut, it looked the same!The hairstylist just styled it afterwards.curling the ends. but i cant really see a change from the haircut. Looks the same as when we first went in. The only differnce was it was curly when we left. We asked for a haircut,not curls. Very expensive curls! My daughter cut her hair as soon as we got home and it looked more like the sample photo.‍♀️

Kelsey H is amazing! I booked a colour and cut with her after a friend recommended her to me. I wasn’t totally sure what I wanted, but I showed her some pictures of what I liked and let her take it from there. I am always nervous about seeing a new stylist, but she couldn’t have done a better job! The colour, cut and style is perfect, and looks so good on me. She also recommended an air dry crème because I rarely dry or style my wavy hair. I could not have had a better experience, and will absolutely be going back!

Ive been to 1977 a few times before and had a good experience. Ive always enjoyed my time and previous stylists did a great job. I was back in today though with a new stylist, Colby, and I had the best time! After just having a baby, i finally got out to have a day for myself and it felt so great. My whole experience was amazing. I felt so welcome and the salon is gorgeous. My stylist (Kenna) was so friendly and was really helpful in making suggestions for my cut. I felt like I was in the best hands. I tried booking with another popular salon the week before and felt like I was annoying the staff by booking and ended up not making an appointment. In contrast, the staff at nineteen seventy-seven was so welcoming and helpful. Found my new home salon. Worth the drive from the 'burbs!!

Nikki B always does a beautiful job of my hair. She has fixes other hairstylists mistakes as well as my own COVID mess ups. She takes the time to fully understand what I want every time. I recently got to try out Kelsey's expertise as well and she also did not disappoint! Atmosphere at the salon is wonderful as well lots of plants and some big fluffy pampas. Coffee and tea is offered as well as alcoholic beverages for purchase. Parking sucks but there is an Impark lot down the street.

Scott is excellent. He’s cut my hair the past 5ish years and that won’t be changing any time soon. Professional, talented, consistent, easy going. I’ve had short and long hair and he’s done a great job with both. He always seems to be learning/innovating new techniques so I’m confident my haircut is always up to date. Taryn at the front desk is wonderful as well. Setting up appointments is quick and easy, she’s professional and welcoming. Overall, great salon with great people.

The atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxing. Jenna-Wade was the stylist I chose to cut my hair. She is absolutely amazing and very talented. I had very long hair and wanted to cut it shorter. Well, we took off about 18" and she just new what I needed (I had no idea what I wanted to do with my hair, but Jenna-Wade took control and just knew how to deal with things. I will be going back to her. I really like her. The rest of the staff seem quite busy as well. Love this salon!!!

I just moved to Calgary and my hair was the one thing that I was worried most worried about. I called up 1977 and mentioned I was looking for stylist the lovely lady suggested Colby. Colby is such a light, a talented lady and joy! She wasn’t off put at my somewhat specific needs from my hair and instead listened understood my reasoning. My hair looks great! The colour is natural looking (even though she rocks at fun colours) and the cut is totally spot on every time!

Unless you see Cherry for your hair care needs, you are probably only getting mediocre service at best wherever you are currently going compared to the service Cherry provides. Cherry is amazing. She is very personable, pays attention to detail, never rushes and the scalp massages are beyond any words to describe. Been going for a while and I was very impressed my first visit. Since then, the quality has never been less than perfect. I highly recommend Cherry.

I’ve been seeing Jordan for about a year and I am always impressed by her friendliness and ability to take your vision and make it it reality. Jordan really cares for her clients and the space is beautiful. Love that they have cocktails for purchase in case you had a long day at the office and solid selection of top of the line hair products. Go here and go to Kenna! She is extremely talented. She took me from platinum blonde to brunette seamlessly 4 years ago and I’ve gone to her ever since and always been thrilled. She takes extra time to really understand what you want before getting started and discussed options and then does it perfectly! She will go the extra mile for you to love it. And gives an unreal shampoo head massage too.

I followed Molly to this salon and it is amazing. You can really tell every employee goes above and beyond for their clients. I always have the best experience and leave so happy. I paid for a root tap, but I don’t think I received it to be honest. There was an issue at the checkout because the product hadn’t been entered and I only received foils and toner. I didn’t say anything because it felt awkward, and I wasn’t sure if the root tap wasn’t a separate product…but I think it is. The highlights and cut turned out nice though.

I had my hair cut my kelsey, she was sweet and had high end tools and products but the quality of the haircut was not up to par with the reviews i've seen of the salon. it was uneven and a bit choppy on one side, i had to fix it up when i got home. And for 60$ i'd just expect better quality.
