A brilliant beginners' bike maintenance course. I was going into the three-hour course with a VERY low base of knowledge (I cannot understate how ignorant I am) but Ben and Steve were incredibly patient, tailoring the delivery of information in such a way that I didn't get left behind, but without dragging the rest of the class down. They were kind and patient in providing me extra assistance in the practical component of the course and were incredibly affirming. I learned a lot and I actually now feel quite confident to manage any little niggles or issues which come up while I'm riding. I will definitely go back to 1226 Bikes for any servicing, maintenance or parts I need and can wholeheartedly recommend their expertise, knowledge, teaching and welcome. If you know even a little about bikes, or ride bikes at all, the course is great to do!

This workshop was really worthwhile. I knew a few basic things before heading in but I got a lot out of the workshop. Lots of knowledge and terminology as well as practical tips. I learnt how to massage the tyre into the rim when changing a flat which was much easier than using multiple tyre levers and I’m also much more confident in removing the back wheel. Thanks for the tip on getting the bike into a high gear first and folding the derailleur out of the way. I gave my cassette a really deep clean yesterday after the workshop and really noticed a difference on my ride today. I’ve gained some confidence to try a couple of things if I have a problem with brakes or gears rather than taking it straight to the bike shop.

The course that 1226 offered were so helpful when it comes to fixing your bikes. As there were so many different bikes and different questions, they based their course on customer needs first rather making sure to cover all basis. Ben and Steve were very nice and very welcoming and super helpful. They answered everyones questions thoroughly and went above and beyond to help you with your problem. 1226 even offered to contact them any time if I had further any further questions. Do not hesitate to partake in their course, why would you pay for a service on your bike when you can actually learn to do it yourself. Couldn't be more happier. Thanks boys :)

Ben and Steve were welcoming, friendly, funny and knowledgeable. They answered all the questions I asked. They even replaced the chain and the rear gears on my bike without charging for the labour. Maximum of 10 people attend the class. It was great to see the diversity, some people were more knowledgeable than the others. In 3 hours lots of basic things like, cleaning chain, changing tyres, hydraulic brake pads, limiting gears, greasing, etc were covered. I will definitely be going again to learn the advanced course. Strongly recommend anyone to attend if you would like to be more confident when fixing your bike.

I attended the Bike Maintenance course run by 1226 Bikes on 27/8/22 and found it to be well conducted, educational, fun and inspiring. Presenters, Steve and Ben, shared the presenting and assisting with practical application of the lessons taught. They also made sure that they spoke in language appropriate to the knowledge and experience of participants. Whilst having knowledge far in excess of most participants, Steve and Ben, were not patronising and did not talk down to participants. I have no hesitation in recommending this course as a great introduction to maintaining bicycles.

Found the 1226 Bikes bike maintenance course very good. Practical and hands-on. Learned how to correctly adjust the gears which will be invaluable to keep my bike running smoothly going forward. Picked up other useful maintenance tips like how to correctly align my brake pads with the rim and how to correctly re-seat a tyre without the use of type levers. Often simple things that I had never really thought of. Ben and Steve presented everything in a simple and non-technical manner. Would recommend this course to beginners and experienced cyclists alike.

Did the basic bicycle course this Saturday and didn’t know what to expect. Ben and Steve were great, made the entire experience well worth it. We had 9 people in my group, all from different cycle requirements. I knew very little about my road bike but found out plenty of useful information and got to do it on your own bike. Fitted a new chain as well. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to know a bit more about how to adjust parts in your bicycle. Going back for an advanced course.

Did a bike maintenance course with Steve & Ben on Sat 09/09/2022 and it was brilliant. Steve & Ben are extremely well versed in bike maintenance and directed the course according to what we wanted to learn which included changing a tyre in less than 35 minutes which was my previous record! Now I can do it in less than 10 woo hoo! It was hands on which is the best way to learn. Heaps of handy tips and tricks to keep your prized possession purring like a cat!

I attended the 1226 Bikes maintenance course last Saturday run by Ben & Steve who are 2 guys who love bikes and sharing their knowledge. I can highly reccomend doing this course for anyone interested in keeping their bikes running well which will save you money in the long run. Do it if you are into tinkering on your bikes and knowing how things work. Ben and Steve are great guys and were happy to answer any questions that were thrown at them. :-)

As a cycling newbie, I decided to take this course as a basic introduction to properly maintaining my bike. Ben and Steve were incredibly knowledgeable and patient. I loved how they tailored the training to meet the specific needs of the class participants. On top of this, they were upbeat and funny, which made the time that much more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning how to optimise their cycling experience.

  • Eliza Renouf

I did the introductory bike maintenance course yesterday. I learned so much. We learnt all about tuning brakes and gears, checking the chain, and even the best way to change a tube (so fast!). I was a bit nervous because I don't know a lot about bikes but the trainers made jokes and made everyone feel at ease, explaining everything in layman's terms. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn more about how to maintain their bikes.

  • Sue Scott

Just did the bike maintenance course with 1226 - wow. They cater for all levels and make it very easy and it was fun. Learnt some fantastic useful tips which have really built my confidence. You call tell how passionate Ben and Steve are about what they do and that makes all the difference. Chatted about the course on our ride this morning so they’ll definitely be some more riders coming your way. Thanks Sue ‍♀️

  • Stephen Chu

The bike maintenance course enabled me to tune my bike with confidence and skills. Now I can always keep my bike to its peak performance. Ben and Steve are really professional in doing this, especially their ability to explain each part of the bike so simply and clearly. YouTube videos may teach you how, but Ben and Steve can explain to you why. Really appreciate this course! Highly recommended for all cyclists.

  • Mark Woodland

Just completed a 3hr maintenance course with Ben and Steve. It was really great - they customised the course to exactly what we each wanted to learn. Nothing beats having a tinker with a screwriver/allen key in hand with some friendly and knowledgeable guidance to help unravel the mysteries of fixing crunchy gears or wonky wheels ! It was fun and I learnt heaps. Thanks ! Highly recommended.

  • Pat Slavich

Attended the mt'ce course presented by Ben and Steve last night. Very good clear instructions for different levels of experience and was really good idea for people like me who want to do minor repairs and servicing of my bikes. Now l'm keen to do drivechain course. So pleasing to attend a business that is not trying to just sell you stuff, except knowledge. Thanks Ben n Steve. Regards Pat

  • Jennifer Hocking

had fun on the bike maintenance course yesterday. steve & ben are knowledgeable & really helpful. (they also have very droll senses of humour along with an amazing array of classic bikes.) great way to spend a sat afternoon & with any luck i may be a touch more confidant in tackling repairs out in the field. and now the question is . . . to wax or not to wax, lol! :)

  • Anthony Fathers

1226 bikes present a good maintenance course for beginners, even if you know how to carry out general maintenance My son and I found this course good to fine tune both our gears and skill set. Great knowledgeable bunch of blokes who provide explanations in a way for all to understand. Definitely considering the drive train course!

  • Carl Lethborg

Fantastic short course. Both Ben & Steve are very friendly, engaging and make everyone feel at ease. Very relaxed atmosphere and everyone felt comfortable to ask the dumb questions. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to learn some basic and not some basic mechanical knowledge about bike maintenance and component functionality.

  • Graham Cottew

Steve and Ben are unique in the world of bike maintenance and sales. They are the most honest, transparent and helpful guys that I have ever met, and in 45 years of cycling I have met more than a few. Whether it's buying a bike or getting one fixed you should definitely try them before anyone else.

Loved the practical feel of the course, I can now do the basic service, gear tune, brake check and clean that I used to get done (but not often enough) at the bike shop. And they managed to do this without making me feel clueless. Thanks Ben and Steve, I'll be back for the next level.

  • Merinda Beasley

The basic maintenance course run by 126 Bikes is very worthwhile. I'm reasonably familiar with bikes and can do most things but the explanation of derailleur adjustment and gear indexing filled in some gaps for me. Plus the demo of disc pad changing rounded out the night.
