This part of the Great Wall is absolutely fantastic for hiking. You can go two ways, either Crouching Tiger for the experienced hiker, or the Coiled Dragon Loop, which is still tough, but manageable. The only place to stop for shade on this part is the third watchtower, so make sure to bring a hat and a lot of water. You'll be lucky if you meet anyone while hiking the wall itself, I didn't see anyone else while I was hiking there in the middle of the summer.
