This is by far one of the best restaurants in Beijing. It has a great courtyard atmosphere, and is perfect for a romantic evening or casual dinner with friends. The hutong courtyard is open and well decorated, and the outside seating is nothing short of magical. This restaurant is located close to the Forbidden City and is a nice, quiet take to place visitors you want to impress, and it's not touristy, so you'll probably come back on your own later. The staff doesn't speak much English, but they have a lot of western regulars, so they are obviously doing something right. Yunnan food is one of the best foods to try in China. It can be described as a hybrid between Thai and Chinese cuisine, and is light, slightly sour and spicy without being overwhelming and oily like much of the other Chinese cuisines.

This hidden gen is located just a short walk from the north gate of the Forbidden City, and is well worth it! The menu was easy to navigate, the service was surprisingly attentive, and the value is phenomenal. Every dish our group ordered, from toasted goat cheese to perfectly cooked whole fish, was flavorful and fresh. The ambiance is that of a cozy cafe with exposed brick boasting handwritten messages from a global range of diners. This was one of the best meals we had during our recent travel through China, and highly recommend to anyone in search of an authentic local meal.

This place has the perfect food it was absolutely amazing! I got the fried rat on a plate and the food tasted better than the explosion in tianjin!!! Service was kind of bad though the only thing the guy kept saying was 舔我的蛋蛋 which I don’t know what that means but I hope it’s nice.

Tried the chicken stir fry, goat cheese, as well as the HEAVENLY pineapple rice. I made the wrong move however when I took a hunk out of the peppers in the stir fry. That pretty much ruined my eating experience for the next 15 minutes. Other than that, food here is flavorful, the staff is friendly, and it's perfect for foreigners in Beijing!

Unbeleivably good. Servers were courteous. The room is really cool and the food, well we’ve had hundreds of meals in China all around and these guys are up there in the best. Don’t hesitate to add this to your short list. Oh yeah. Reasonably priced too even for tourists.

Amazing flavor in every dish we tried. Spare ribs and fried green beans we absolute winners. The chicken with lotus root and dry chili was amazing. The Szechuan peppercorns add a magnificent flavor that is really unmatched. One of my best meals in Beijing by far

Went on the basis of the Lonely Planet review and it exceeded expectations. Quirky wee hipster restaurant. Enjoy the lijiang spicy stewed beef - it was fantastic and I'm searching for a recipe to repeat this treat at home.

Cosy place to have lunch/dinner. Ordered Pork Ribs, Green Curry (highly recommended, not too spicy too), Mushroom stir-fry with Capsicum. My favourite is definitely the green curry. Cant wait to go back again for this!

About 50 yuan for a lunch, lots to choose from and an easy to understand menu. Pineapple sticky rice is highly recommended! Atmosphere is also extremely well polished and it felt like they really care about the place.

Cosy environment and very delicious food! The drinks are unique and tasty! We didn't get the chance to try the rice wine because it was sold out, which is a pity. But we will get back next time!

Fantastic food, try the pork belly and mushroom stir fry. So good we went back twice on our 5 day holiday. Cool atmosphere and building, had the air con set perfect for the hot day.

We had fish and vegetable items, all were excellent. Really enjoyed the deep fried green beans...very clever. Chinese and English menu. 20 min walk from Forbidden City.

Delicious food. We wanted to try everything, but it was just two of us. My favorite was a chicken mixed with potato. They take credit cards, which is a plus.

Highly recommend. Caters well to westerners, great food, wonderful atmosphere. Only downside is it's a little pricy for China, but fair for the area it's in.

Delicious food and cozy ambiance - they have a video camera into the kitchen so you can see how clean everything inside is. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal here!
