Okay so a package arrived for me at Canada Post (which I need for work) which is in the York bookstore. How are you going to have the bookstore open after people’s workdays have already started and close before we have time to get home? And then, think it’s okay not to be open weekends. It makes zero sense. Am I supposed to wait several months for school to start, before getting my package that I ironically need for WORK? Not only is this not accommodating, but it shows the pure disgust York has for the working class. Move the Canada post out of the bookstore if that’s the problem. Nothing at York is established with logic, only disorganization and a lack of care for the people who attend the school.

Super busy the first couple weeks of a semester. Don't try to go if you aren't prepared to spend at least 15-20 minutes. The lineup usually flows pretty well but it is a bit discouraging to see the length of the line initially. Books aren't the most expensive but definitely the price you would expect for university level recommended texts. Cashiers are quick and efficient, very helpful. Unless you go to the bookstore the moment they open their doors, chances are material for popular classes are gonna be sold out but they restock fairly quick enough.

I wish I had checked the reviews before ordering online. When I ordered the books, all were in stock. The next day I received an email saying they had shipped the books, but they could not fulfill the order because one of the books was out of stock. They simply cancelled the order for that one book and shipped the rest. The missing book was a used book. Now I will have to order a new one, and pay the shipping fee again! Neither did they ask what you want to do before shipping the package missing a book, nor did they compensate your shipping fee.

My friend, who is nearly blind, has a registered letter from Canada Post... claimed he was not home to sign for it even though he *never* left his place the day the delivery was supposedly attempted. So I drove him to the York U bookstore in York Lanes where there's a post office desk. Had to pay to park... disgusting to have to pay to park because a Canada Post worker didn't do their job properly! Also, with two customers ahead on line, we had to wait 15 minutes. How long should each transaction take? Awful experience.

So the hours of operation are Monday to Friday 9-5... so are my work hours. Not everyone who has their mail/ packages shipped with Canada Post are students who attend school here. The rest of us just happen to live in the vicinity and happen to have this location as the closet location for undeliverable mail. If this location could just open even a small window on a weekend that would be much appreciated. Honestly putting the Canada post inside the bookstore was the absolute worst idea York U could ever think of.

avoid this place at all costs. overpriced books and supplies, terrible return policies, bad customer service and worst of all the crazy waiting lines at the beginning of every semester that could go on to the aisles and the front door. they don't even have tap option for their credit card payments to improve the speed of service because it costs extra $$$ to have the feature. all they do is being cheap and trying to make money at all costs to the students. you are better off buying online or at another place.

The book store is very organized and all the books are stacked as course type. There are many aisles and on each aistle the subject name is written. So don't get confused and just read the label. There are many subjects in the back too. So, don't just ignore back spaces. Even if you don't find your required book, the staff at the info is very helpful and friendly. There are so many bags too. The bookstore is downstairs. Just remember you have to pay upstairs at the counter, not at the info.

The York university books store has most of the general things a student requires. Some of the things are quiet pricy, so I would suggest going here to get supplies in an emergency or during a sale they have once in a while. As I was an art student at Seneca I would juggle between this store and the Seneca book store for emergency supplies If I had to get something specific I would suggest going to a dedicated art supply store. Overall it's a good store with ample stock.

They try very hard to make a good experience for students and have what's needed -and what many of us didn't realize we'd need! A lot of unique York inventory as well. They're also trying to facilitate convenient online service. Often when things go wrong -textbooks not in stock etc- it's not the bookstore's fault but late submission by course directors or publisher issues. And there are great deals to be had here during sales! Overall, a bright spot on campus.

Problem is that the bookstore sells products that are slightly higher than retail price elsewhere, and the line-ups for books during the beginning of each semester is insane! Also, the amount of books found here are limited and they will place an order for more only if they get alot of people wanting it. Other than that, this place is nicely designed and the staffs are very friendly and welcoming!

Amazing place, affordable, high quality education products available such as pens, notebooks and so on. They also have a innovative tablet notebook (Moleskin) which can transfer your paper written material into digital form in your phone/ tablet/ laptop very skills. They staff is also very friendly and customer oriented. I highly appreciate the high number of varieties available in the bookstore.

They’re often overpriced and busy. I don’t find the associates particularly helpful or friendly. Also, good luck returning anything as they have incredibly high standards for the quality of the book. Not zero bends or dents but they’ll open the book to see if it’s “been opened or read before” even though it’s not a reliable method. I never shop here unless I absolutely have to buy a course kit.

At first, I got photo papers and b & w films from them for my photography course with prices friendly for students. However, as the course went on and we needed more supplies, the store raised the price to even higher than the store in downtown Toronto. Compare the price and consider purchasing from this store if you can get it from somewhere else.

Do not email or call the bookstore, they will never answer you. When you call, there's no option to speak to an employee, it's an automated message telling you to stay safe. Both times I've went to pick up my book order, they never placed it on the right shelf and have made me wait so long for no reason other than their incompetence.

  • Sayed Rashid

Everything is expensive even a single pen. Only reason to like is that I find the books for my courses easily there since all of them are nicely organized with good instructions. Also have used book options which are better option to get since new books are really expensive. At least you can save 20/30 dollar par book

They manage the early semester "rush" period very well. Some people might not realize that the reason their textbook is not in stock is that the course director didn't tell the bookstore about it in time. Usually good bargains and remainder tables. I have never come out of there without the thing I wanted.

  • Divine Lioness

Absolutely horrible. Do not buy from this overpriced bookstore. They are unbelievably picky about returns of textbooks that are still in excellent condition since purchase (and within the return period). Not worth your dollar, even if the staff is helpful when it comes to finding a textbook.

  • The Wild Migrator

Books are obviously expensive. I like that they have rental and buying options, but usually it's better to buy and resell second hand. Sometimes difficult to locate books. Most staff isn't happy to be there and gives a forced environment. Buy we have to buy books somewhere, right ?

  • Philip Lee

Prices are not the best at this bookstore and it is very expensive to get the tools you need, yet you an always rely on it to get the course material you need. Very academic and efficient way of getting your course content. Staff is friendly and there will be a line up.

  • J. Silva

Only buy here if you can not get something on resale. If you order something online, check daily to see if they have sent it. Ask for tracking info. Whoever answers my emails has assured me for weeks that my items "are being sent out" .. received nothing.

  • Jessica

it is pretty clean and they are almost always very nice. Don't come during regular business hours at the beginning of the semester because it is a MESS. Ridiculously overpriced, as to be expected and a lot of items are out of stock a lot of the time.

  • Mona Zhang

If you need textbooks, please buy them in person, not online. The staffs mistakenly charged you several times without notice, and you may have to email them for refund or dispute with your credit card company. No recommendation for online purchasing.

  • Ibrahim Mehmood

They don’t answer phone calls. I tried to order a program hoodie got an email confirming shipment. They did not send me tracking info and there has been no response from their email and their phone goes straight to an automated message. I

Why do we have a Canada Post center that closes at 5pm? Are people supposed to leave work early to pick up their parcels. Closed on Saturdays and Sundays. What happened to 7pm closing times. Jesus. I have a parcel stuck for over 6 days

  • Carrie Kortis

That do not accept phone calls. Take forever to respond to emails. Have declined my card 3 times now. Funds are more than sufficient. A processing error on their end according to my bank. Just disgusting. I wish I could rate 0 stars.

  • Dam Man

Overpriced 95% of the time. Sometimes have good sales but with clothing good luck with sizes. Understaffed and the employees aren't the world's friendliest. There's a book store across the street for cheaper books.

  • Mellisa Lemonious

York bookstore can be a bit pricey at times but there are opportunities for sale. There is a great sale going on now and will end last day in January. Their clothing is of great quality too.

  • 천 사

I was late for my pick-up appointment but they were still happy to give my order. Had to wait for almost 20 minutes because the service was quite slow for the two person in front of me.

  • Shivan Mahadeo

I love the bookstore. But some stuff could be a bit cheaper. I find it difficult to afford the sweaters and jackets. I can only go during sales. One which one during the summer.

  • Howard S

Need books, go to the book store. Prices aren't always the best, but they also have supplies and apparel. Staff are helpful. Support jobs! Don't buy everything on Amazon: p

  • Gurtaj Dhindsa

The people working at the store are very friendly. They quickly handled all my concerns, and made sure I was informed on all policies for the things I was buying.

  • brian na

Extremely rude staff... Asked about a water bottle sale near the front cash registers. The sign said aluminum bottles are all half off and so i asked if another

  • Najib barekzai

The place is usually busy. But they have everything you need for a high price. If your a first year student I recommend using it flex points to buy books

  • Ghazal Rahman

Very overpriced. Always look for the things you need on Amazon or Facebook Marketplace first. Also, always go to the basement for the best deals.

  • spiritjourney51

I have bought interesting books for courses, York pride paraphernalia and clothing. Good quality clothing. Staff are friendly and helpful.

  • Lindsay Leigh

Bad hours. Opens late, closes early, not open on weekends. Why? Students need jobs, the business is there, just extend your hours!

  • I Da

Lots of customers and not enough staff. Therefore, you either waste your time waiting for over 30 mins or abandon your stuff!

  • Amrutha Mohan

The store is neatly organized. Everything is easily accessible. The prices are a bit on the expensive side.

  • Maher Jebara

Friendly staff and resourceful. Lots of discounted prices for apparel at the moment. Great deals
