I agree with the feedback about competing with the HSC students to get a space to do some work! If you get here at 9am you can watch the roller doors go up and watch them sprint up the stairs as if they were at the Myer Stocktake sale! Surely they could use their school library? The children's play area is a ridiculous concept. If you wanted to open the slide once a day that would possibly work but I think some education for ALL of your patrons to understand that this libraries are supposed to be quiet reflective spaces - Not a place to catch up with your friends. Surely it is a sign that the noise is a problem with a majority of patrons who come to study are wearing noise cancelling head phones. Basic signs posted around to encourage quiet in ALL areas, turn off mobiles or on silent would also help and please turn up the air conditioning a little. Otherwise, thanks for caring enough to try and build a beautiful space. For that I am grateful. Whinge complete!

I walked in last week on Monday and received the kindest smile and greeting. It’s usually the case at this location which— aside from the appreciated interior design & vibe and books— is why I return again and again. This past Monday, it was from Laura, an intern working at the library. She was so present and assisted me with my queries related to printing from my laptop. I can get very nervous when following instructions but having someone watch me and click too much and all over the place trying to be expedient but allowing the opposite. Laura was so kind and incredibly patient with me— she also came across as genuine— you can tell she really enjoys her job. Laura along with many others make the place feel like community. There’s nothing better, I’m so grateful. Love this library!!

I love the equipment and everything here. However the only downfall is that the staff at the 3rd floor is kinda rude. I reserved a study room today and went to her to confirm my reservation(I thought that’s the requirement since you make a booking). She didn’t check the system initially, while I came back to her and questioned if that’s the room I booked and there’s still people there, she confirmed it was the room on the system. After the people left the room and I went to her to ask if she have cleaning wipes, she claimed the room was already cleaned and other people could have booked the room. For me it is not polite to a new visitor and I hope this is the only case.

It's a really cool design but unless you turn up before 9.30 you can't get a spot to work from. It's choc-a-block full of students every single day, even during uni holidays. At 9am when the roller-door goes up they literally run in to claim the best spots like a swarm of zombies and by 10am there's not a free desk space in sight. As a casual library goer, it completely takes away the flexibility of being able to use the library for a few hours in the afternoon or random times during the day, other than first thing when it opens. The students even go to lunch and leave their things in their spot to hog it for the entire day.

As someone else already commented- 5 stars as a children's indoor playground, 1 star as a library. If you don't mind going somewhere that feels more like a cafe where you can do some light research, the fit out is quite nice. However if you're looking to do any kind of serious study or work, don't come here- hardly any proper desk space, apart from a handful of tiny desks next to lounges; the constant sound of screaming children isn't conducive to real productivity. Disappointing that so much money was spent creating a new library that caters mainly to the needs of yuppie parents.

Who organises all-day events in the study rooms right in the middle of HSC ?? Who lets screaming children run around the library when people are trying to study ?? Who chooses aesthetic over function and as a result, provides limited and impractical study space?? Double Bay Library does !!! Although the architecture is amazing, it was made with little to no consideration of the fact that people go to libraries to do work. I love the library but I wish it was made for what libraries are made for, not just as centrepiece for Double Bay

I recently visited the Woollahra Library and was pleasantly surprised by the modern and welcoming atmosphere. The library had a great selection of books, magazines, and newspapers, as well as computers and other resources for research and study. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the library was clean and well-maintained. I also appreciated the various events and programs offered, including author talks and children's story time. Overall, a great local resource for all ages. Highly recommend!

A beautifully designed, well thought-out space that caters to a variety of community needs. The greenery around the library is absolutely stunning. If you are planning to use the study/ quiet spaces I would recommend arriving early as these tend to fill up quickly and are consistently full throughout the day/ year. Noise is not really monitored/ policed, and highschool students tend to be disruptive when arriving after school - perhaps keeps this in mind when planning your visit.

Love, love, love this library. Great place to visit with children of all ages - you can always find a book to keep them busy. The kids club is fun, the preschool story time is popular (the slide is a real hit with the little ones) and the upstairs area for adults offers plenty of space to find a quiet moment to yourself. Relax, re-gather, enjoy the tranquillity. Friendly staff always try their best to help. Worth a quick visit, or linger here to pass the time.

Great librarians who are always helpful and patient. Good computer access. NOISE from children is over the top with no parent instructing their offspring to use ‘inside voices’ A completely separate children’s area would have been easy to incorporate into the new design. The old library had it right…kids downstairs separate equals win win for all. Build them a padded room away from people wishing for quiet. Instruct parents to monitor their crying children.

Nice empty place to study during COVID. However I cannot understand the policy one member can only make one booking per day for computer use which lasts 45min. Even when I am there in place and no one is using any of the 8 computers for the next session, the library ladies would not book another session for me saying it’s the policy, policy for whose good? Policies are dead but human beings who make them are alive. Seriously.

An incredible building inside and out filled with all sorts of wonderful things including DVD's, magazines, playstation, wii, Macs, PC's, 1Gbps ultra fast & free wifi, 3D Printers, printers, meeting rooms, study rooms, kids secret slide, E books, audio books and of course books. There are always fun activities happen for all sorts of curious minds, young and old. Membership is free. Truly an amazing place!

  • Ben Wood

Amazing library and great community space that shows how relevant and important they remain in building a community. You can't please everyone as you can see from some reviews on here but it is fantastic to see kids, teenagers, and adults all using the library to study and learn. Compare it to the drab places that were around 20 years ago - yes they were quiet but mainly because nobody went there.

  • Sanja

This is an amazing public space - modern design and interiors for a relaxed or more focused research. It has a great book collection and new releases are secured reasonably quickly. I am a big fan, I just wish it had longer open hours on weekends. And perhaps move the slide out of the library, teach kids it's a place for some quiet time...

  • Elisa Gregolin

Wonderfully designed. Several options to study with great couches or single separated Sophia’s, separates group tables and so on. I’ll be back for sure! It is a great idea to create a space for children! Amazing! The only reason why I didn’t give 5 star is because I think someone should ensure people are not chatting loudly.

  • Anderson Roy

One of my favourite spot in Sydney. Great design and magnificent indoor plant walls. So good the atmosphere and plenty of private room and seatings. Gladly we have a local library at this standard. Nice little cafes and shopping centre downstairs. One can easily spend a whole day reading here. Five stars!

  • Na S

Beautiful architecture, but this is not the place if you are after a quiet place to read and study unless you can secure a spot in the usually full 'quiet room'. The low rating (updated from 1 to 2) is because of the level of noise (I'm sure those who use this place as their kids playground gave 5 stars).

  • Martin Butler

This is probably the most expensive local council building that I've ever seen and practically worth the trip just to admire the view out over the water towards the city! The service is prompt and friendly too, which made for a pleasant experience every time i've had to renew my residents parking permit.

  • Pearse Malthouse

It's a struggle to even have the frame of mind to browse for books with the noise of electronic entertainment in the children's area. Such a shame this couldn't be a quiet, contemplative place that encourages reading and research. I thought that is what libraries were about but maybe I'm old fashioned.

  • Dianne Kitson

Brilliant service from the Tech Connect Express team. Such patience, teamwork, professionalism, could not recommend more highly. So inclusive too, the ability to break down the issue and provide clear step by step instructions to be able to resolve problems is so helpful for me with disability.

  • Annabelle Sheldon

This is a gorgeous little library filled with an abundance of books. Sit here and study while overlooking redleaf park and the ocean. I have been coming here since i was a kid and it hasn't changed a bit. Great spot if you're looking for a spot for some quiet reading/researching time.

  • Nhora Handcock

Kids playground??? I was shocked. This is a library for books and reading and education. If they want to go to a playground and do some physical activity they can go to a park. If they come to a library, do something that would stimulate a different part of the brain.

  • Ia J

Only one brief visit so far after new building opened. Excellent new building but could be improved if there were a water feature(s) (eg. quiet, gentle indoor fountain) and natural indoor garden area(s) for meditation, reflection, prayer, contemplation, healing, etc.

  • Luke Zhou

Well maintained library with indoor greenery. There are a variety of spaces from cubicle-style nooks, soft cushioned seats with tables, stools and a quiet study space on the top floor. The number of quiet spaces is limited so it is best to get in early on weekends.

  • Karinadivina

2 stars as a library, 5 stars as a playcentre. Who on earth would install a kid's slide in the middle of a pretty much 'open plan' library? Obviously someone who doesn't think library's are meant to be a quiet space for reading and working. Pity the HSC students!

  • Matthew Wilson

I facilitated a workshop in the library technology room. The staff were courteous and professional. The space itself is amazing it was nice to see the library being used by a wide range of people. Highly recommended if you want to run a team workshop.

  • Erin Park

The services are great and the library is an amazing working space but you can hear the children playing on the 3rd floor which is really distracting sometimes. I don't think the hole on that floor was such a good idea. Other than that I love it

  • Marcus D

Was hesitant given people mentioning the noise from kids, but found the quiet space that is well soundproofed. Also, the internet speed is out of this world, at least for Australia. It's Ethernet internet 150/150 unlike home which is prob 5/0.2.

  • Jess Milton

Amazing space, a bit small (minimal desks, unless you count a small side table and sofa) and more of a casual work library as there's a lot of students and kids coming in and out. Also bring headphones as not a quiet library. Would love for

  • Dallas Knight

Entering the new Double Bay library is like entering a dreamworld were the space has all the features you ever dreamed about in a library, and more. My story time and craft session with my 3 year old grandchild was total emersion pleasure.

  • Susannah Best

an amazing library! only problem is it’s too popular! sometimes finding a seat is impossible. i do think that there needs to be something done about all the noise but that’s just my opinion. there’s a quiet room upstairs top floor

  • Gavin Robertson

Great modern well designed library with a wide range of books, friendly staff and something for everyone. Gets busy at exam times with pupils studying, but if you’re just there to find a good book that’s not a problem.

  • gazstaf

Wonderful service, supremely helpful, so patient and inclusive in helping me despite disability. Highly recommended, could not speak more highly of the volunteers and Bevalee and Erin and all Tech Connect staff. Dianne

  • Elle Mhm

If you are looking for a quiet place to study I highly recommend this place! It has flexible and different types of furniture which gives you the freedom to choose whichever you feel is most comfortable!

  • Jack Carter

Had my first visit here last week (first visit to a library in around 10 years) and it was a very pleasant experience. I needed somewhere to get my head down and do some reporting for work after

  • Natasha Younger

Beautiful space, great selection on catalogue, lovely staff. The care taken with the space makes a haven: for booklovers, for the community, for those learning - or for anyone in quiet and peace.

  • Michellee Gracee

Fancy library. The greenery was pleasant. There should be more seats/tables though especially during HSC exam period. They could at least put additional foldable tables or chairs on weekends.

  • Christie Aucamp-Schutte

Really nice library with great staff and facilities but PLEASE, fix your internet! On a good day it's very slow, and with HSC and more people in the building it literally just wont work.

  • Reka Stoica

I have kids so I don't mind a bit of noise, not tooo much of course! But, why did you put a big screen for them and games on it??? They should read books not playing on the ... computer!

  • Julla Jones

Great selection, amazing interior, friendly staff and lots of space! Wow, this library ticks all boxes for a quiet and productive study, work or even just a relaxing reading time!

  • caitlin lloyd

Great books, but all the children's attractions and play areas gets the kids over excited, I guess, as there is lots of noise from where they are. Other than that, it's great!

  • B. B.

A spic and span up to date library . Excellently designed - a library as it should be light everywhere . A place where you like to go and pick up things you like and love .

  • Belle Lai

Beautiful library other than mike the librarian who abruptly stole our hsc materials. Absolutely not impressed with michael trying to father figure us. Do better Mike.

Great place, fully furnished for anyone who wants to work. iMac and PC HP available. Fast wifi. Many books, and easy to find a table with plugs to work.

  • Louie Louie

All plants are real! The librarians are so friendly and helpful. Good floor plans with kids space and study rooms across 3 floors. Wonderful library.

  • Adriana Pazin

Great library. However, hard to focus during peak hours; too many kids screaming. Extra quiet study rooms on the upper level(s) wouldn’t go astray.

  • Scott Patterson

Kids screaming and people making phone calls. One guy near me has been on the phone for an hour. I’m not sure if I’m actually at a library

  • Naoki Takehana

I really surprised at ppl and staff. They study hard and work hard until 8:30pm. I can’t believe that… : )) It’s very quiet After7:30 pm.

  • Lucas Sobral

Helpful and friendly staff. Amazing atmosphere with toilet and tap water. Computers available and no bookings needed.

  • C Ford

Loved the old library but not so keen on the new building. Is it a library or a children's play area. I can't decide.

  • Oska Andrew Purcell

Who the hell decided to put a playground in a library, if I wanted to hear kids screaming I'd go to church to study.

  • James Espie
