The staff that work here are very nice. I came in looking for a book I read as a kid, and have fond memories of that I saw in the front window of the store. I asked about it at the front desk, and the woman kindly found an edition for me. I was happy enough with what she had found for me, but was over the moon when she checked the window up front and asked if that was the one I was looking for because she said she knew the art was a little different. She really made my day, and went above and beyond, and it's easily I can say one of the best shopping experiences I've had, and I would very easily recommend this book store to anyone I know., I would love to shop here again in the future and would happily give them more than 5 stars if I could. Thank you, truly

I am consistent whelmed by this bookstore. I love that we have a bookstore in the area that we can pop into, and the store itself is very warm and engaging. The one drawback I've found is with the staff. While they seem to be well read, there really isn't a strong diversity amongst the staff, so their taste is very similar. Found this to be an issue because I haven't found someone whose taste overlaps with my own. It's a great place to come and browse, but if your taste doesnt overlap with the staff member whose there when you are, you'll have to turn elsewhere for recommendations.

I've been reading a lot lately and have about 5 books I want to read next. I have been deciding between Amazon or Indigo for my next purchase but was in the area of Queen Books today. Nice character to the store but staff wasn't friendly, selection isn't great and finding what I wanted wasn't easy. I found 2 though and bought them. I was curtly asked if I "had an account". I briefly wondered if like Costo, you need a membership to shop there. I'll shop at Indigo next time, for the Plum Rewards, great, organized selection of books, and kind staff.

A magical place for booklovers! This great local bookstore is a great place for all you book lovers. Well stocked with the most recent releases, but staff is always ready to order anything that they don't have in store. Knowledgeable staff is always available to recommend your next read. Their book subscription service is THE BEST! You will get a call for a short interview to see what your interests and what you are looking for, and I have been getting, for the past year, a great great book a month. You have got to go.

Very pleasant place with some neat books. They did not have the book I was looking for so I left empty handed. Oh! And for anyone who, in a futile effort to carry on something of themselves beyond their own extinction, has taken to bearing children, they have a LOVELY children's section at the back. Quite a large one actually. When I was a child, I would have appreciated the effort put into it. That's a God damned lie. I was too busy walking into doors and stuffing Lego pieces up my nose.

My partner and I walked in with 30 minutes till close, hoping to do some Christmas shopping for our 8 (!) nieces and nephews. Given the size of the task, we thought we’d at best get some ideas of what to buy. Little did we know, the staff at Queen Books are amazing! We told them the ages and general interests of our flock of young relatives and we walked out of there 30 mins later with 8 handpicked, lovely books. Never before has Christmas shopping been so enjoyable. I LOVE THIS STORE.

I don't live in the East end anymore, but I wanted to support this wonderful business during this bizarre holiday season. I bought a few books that I needed to mail across the country. When I missed my delivery time, the delivery coordinator went out of their way to personally deliver my books so I could mail them in time. It's the little personal touches that makes this bookstore an essential part of the Leslieville -- and the Toronto -- landscape. Thank you QB!

  • Danielle Thé

I did all my holiday shopping here. I absolutely love this bookstore and their curation of books. The store is always part of my stop when I walk the neighbourhood, and during times the store can’t be open, their website is so easy to search and shop for books. They even go out of their way to bring in any book that they don’t have in store. Definitely come here (physically or virtually) for a reading recommendation or to buy any book you need!

  • Rabby (Tiger)

Ollie and Liz are awesome. This independent bookstore is located in leslieville and although it's small, it's got a nice local warmth to it. I'd recommend getting books from here especially if you're out to get a great read. They have their own staff picks section and the people that work there will definitely tell you exactly what they think of the book you want to read. That is of course if they've already read it

  • Angela Szeto

Thank you Queen Books for the best buying experience ever! I came in looking for a children’s book that I had seen there years ago but all I had was: “It was about a bear. And a hat. And I dimly recall a gruesome ending. That’s all I got.” A few hours later, the staff emailed me and FOUND the book (It was “I Want My Hat Back” by Jon Klassen). THIS is what makes an independent bookstore better than Amazon any day.

  • Justine Chiu

This store carefully curates their books. You can tell there is heart and soul in this store. You will find selections you cannot find anywhere else. The store is beautifully kept and designed that makes you not want to leave. There is a children's section in the back. The travel section is a bit sparse though. This is a great store to find some good cook books, small production run magazines, and zines.

  • Rachel Hahn

I've only shopped here online (due to the pandemic and don't live in Leslieville), but they have a great selection and super friendly service! I found the books I wanted that weren't available at other local shops - then when I inquired about a book on order Ana was very quick to respond to my inquiry! Will continue to order from them and excited to shop in person when the city opens up again!

  • Amélie Matte Zakaib

Queen Books has kept us rich in books and puzzles throughout the lockdowns (probably 4-5 different direct-to-home orders). While an order might require a bit more patience than some of the big retailers, it feels great knowing that each delivery can help keep this neighbourhood gem around for when we're able to browse books in person again. Thank you Queen Books!

  • Eric Murphy

So happy that this awesome bookstore is where it is. I absolutely love it and the neighbourhood is so lucky to have it. The selection is great and they have a fantastic area for kids books as well. The décor is beautiful and whimsical, and the real gem is probably the staff pics section. I’ve gotten some of my favorite books there.

  • Kunal Desai

An incredibly beautiful and cute bookstore. Has a lovely vibe and they carry a nice selection and are happy to order in any book for you that they don't carry (and if it is available from their suppliers)! Very loving team and it's wonderful to see people stop in, browse and enjoy themselves. Thank you and continue to be awesome!

  • Emily H

This bookstore is very visually appealing. The displays are gorgeous! And they have a mystery grab bag book section where you pay-what-you-can (suggested $5) with proceeds going to charity. I loved the idea, and ended up with the brand new Simu Liu memoir (it was a proof and pre-used but still!). Definitely will be back :)

  • Krista Allen

Queen Books is a great little book store with a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Their selection consists of a unique offering of books which is quite large for such a small space. I loved that it doesn't just stock best sellers, and am very happy with my purchase! A great place to check out for sure!

  • Tea H

I was very impressed with Queen Books. Given the pandemic and how incredibly busy they are, they were able to deliver books to my mom for her birthday and took the time to communicate with me about the order. They've earned a loyal customer, and I was very happy to support a local business. Thanks!

  • gashta berahman

The staff put out book about women in Iran and persian Poets and writers because of the ‘woman life freedom’ revolution going on in the country. What a beautiful thing to do. Raising awareness and standing with the brave people fighting for their freedom. Also, beautiful interior and great staff!

  • ashley irwin

Great local bookstore. Found the staff very friendly, the selection and prices are great. When I couldn’t find a book I was looking for they took the time to search and order it for me and notified me as soon as it arrived. Nice to be able to (visually) browse thru books once again.

  • Cheryl Rainfield

This is a sweet little independent bookstore that has its own kids section that is very appealing, knowledgeable staff, and a ton of other books. They also host book launches and author visits, and I got to see the wonderful Wendy Orr of Nim's Island there which was a special treat.

  • Amy

Jeremy is a star! We had no idea what to get our niece and nephew, we just knew we wanted to start them a book collection. Jeremy came out from behind the counter and walked the store with us for 15 mins suggesting ideas. I swear Jeremy knew every book in the store! Great place!

  • Paul Klaassen

Great, helpful staff. A good, clearly curated selection of books. Not the biggest selection in the city, but something for everyone, and the ability to efficiently order anything in for you. But the people, that's what makes this little neighbourhood bookshop great.

  • Jordan-na Belle-Isle

Such a neighbourhood gem! They were so nice and helpful when I walked up for curbside shopping, despite being inundated with holiday orders. I miss visiting in-store but am happy to browse their online selection and support this great indie bookshop.

  • Morgan Dobroshinsky

Ordered a book that was on back order. They were great with communication, telling me my book was being re printed, and then were super easy to communicate with to organize "porch pick up" at the store! Will definitely be buying from them again :)

  • Scott Ord

My visit had me looking for both a card and a book - the book was easy to find in the Cooking section, and the (most helpful) staff on duty pointed me to the perfect card! I had a great chat with one of the staff and will definitely be back!

  • Laura Bowman

Love this cozy bookstore. Alex, Liz and all the staff are amazingly accommodating and knowledgeable. They've regularly been hosting launches and storytimes with authors and illustrators, and they run a review club for middle grade readers.

  • Sophie Moynan

Such helpful staff. They've helped me order specific poetry books and are knowledgeable about what they stock :). It's a local gem and they promote neighborhood authors. Great kids book section and I love the recommended books section.

  • James Dooley

Queen Books is a neighbourhood gem! Such a great bookstore with a wonderful selection of fiction, nonfiction, art, biography and a great kid's section, too. Staff are just the friendliest people around. Check it out when you can.

  • Jacquie H

The staff are so helpful here and make great recommendations for both fiction and non fiction readers. Also, they have a kids' section that has stories which are fun to read and not condescending the way some kids' books can be.

  • Stuart Sackler

I love a great bookstore, and this is a great bookstore. The kids section is stocked with everything that keeps my little person happy. Their suggestions for books for adults is equally fantastic. Definitely worth repeat visits.

  • Matthew Shore

Queen Books is certainly one of Queen St. East’s not-so-hidden gems. Always appreciate the friendly book recommendations and treats for the pup. Great selection, awesome staff, dog friendly. What more can you ask for?

  • Mira O'Hagan

This is definitely a great bookstore. Very quirky and unique. My only qualm is their organizational system is a bit unclear. Definitely go here if your looking for children's books though. They have a wide selection.

  • Christopher Needles

Have used their website and pickup service. Easy to use and fast. Even when books aren't in stock they arrive quickly. Parking is easy for pickup - there's a lot just beside the back door. Very friendly service.

  • Elena Ackovska-Edwards

Just absolutely love this place. Great selection of books including a huge children's section and wonderful and friendly staff. I love getting all my children's friends birthday gifts here. Highly recommended!

  • Adam White

This is a great local bookstore in the area. If you are looking for the opposite of the big box experience have a visit. If they don't have it, and you don't need it today, they can likely order it for you.

  • Christopher Comrie

Queen Books is so beautiful, outside and in, with such lovingly curated stock, that my sense of wonder and adventure is reawakened every time I walk in. “I must read ALL of these, but where to start?”

  • C Bright

  • Bill Kennedy

In an age where big bookstores are turning to gifts, Queen Books is a wonderful return to the independent book seller where the staff actually love books. Check out their subscription service.

  • Jon Mullin

The atmosphere was bookshops, quiet soft non-offensive music, kids running around and people talking about books. It's a bookstore. Go here if you want to buy, look at or talk about books.

  • Rhiannon Downey

Queen Books is an amazing Leslieville staple. They have a great selection and the staff are very kind and helpful. They’ve created a quick, accessible, and easy curb-side pick up process.

  • Alexander Wall

Fantastic Indy bookstore. It's not large, and split about 50/50 between adult and kids books--wise given all the families in the area--buy they always have great recommendations for both.

  • von Fischler

Really nice to see a book store like this making a comeback. Highly currated. You will find something to buy that was not on your radar. I think that is kind of the purpose of this place.

  • Gary Gerbrandt

Lovely bookstore -- very open and airy, with a nicely curated selection. Has an abundance of children's books. Also -- love that they welcome dogs (on leash) into the store for browsing!

  • Alia B.

Great bookstore, beautiful decorations, amazing staff, and just an overall wonderful experience! I know you opened very recently, but would like it if you could have more books though

  • Sarah Pinach

Deceptively small! So many books! Also a super friendly staff that will order in anything they don't already have if it's available. Great selection of contemporary and classics.

  • Ian Dunn

I want to like this store and support a local, independent book shop. The space is warm and inviting but somehow the staff make every experience we’ve had cold and unwelcoming.

  • Charlie Pan

Love the intimate feel of the bookstore. Selection is small but has a great variety of popular books and rarities. The children's section is well-stocked and nicely organized.

  • Josey Thong
