*edit* I just wanted to add research on the sweat thing. Eccrine sweat glands are most likely what kind of sweat the silky sweat is, but its mostly just water. The other kind of sweat is apocrine which has an odor, but that is the one that contains sebum, proteins, lipids and steroids. So I am unsure how eccrine sweat is beneficial... as... it is mostly just water with some elecrolytes. It does provide protection to the acid mantle. (Sebum and sweat combine to create a slightly acidic PH to the skin to prevent bacteria from growin). I enjoyed my experience. Someone else did a review and explained the entire process, so I won't do it here. The people who work there are exceptionally friendly. The owners are a couple. We had the private room for 2 + the facial and neck massage. We were never rushed, and they never shorted us time for the fact we took a shower and arrived into the cool room at 10 past. They in fact, gave us extra time which I thought was very nice of them. They also never came to tell us to leave so it felt like they are very relaxed and not rigid so long as no one else needs the spot, which again, is very kind of them. I'm not 100% sure on the science behind it as I have not looked into it, but the owner explained it and informed us he has studied it extensively. I have had pain for a long time. I have studied things to help my pain... I understand heat can relax muscles. I am just unsure if this particular thing helps out as much as they say. Time will tell. At the cost of $45 per visit, its not something you can easily go to all the time for the average joe however. I am not saying I disagree with him (its hard to since I haven't studied it), but I just somehow wasn't wholly convinced. Probably because its one of those, "This is good for everything." I guess you can argue its like water... which is also good for everything that ails you. So maybe? I noticed they will be doing a monthly membership... so for someone with a lot of pain, if the science works as they say, it might be better for someone to go a lot for a period of time. Compared to say a float, this is a lot simpler since you don't have to get wet. You can go in, lay down, rest, and get out. We had 90 minutes, but after 60 minutes I was personally uncomfortable and ready to go. It was not the most comfortable thing for me and I had issues laying on the stone due to my back. This is not uncommon, and they did warn us that might be a thing. They did say we could use towels to prop up certain body parts to help, but for whatever reason I didn't ask for extras... nor am I certain I know where to place them. I would also skip the facial and neck massage if you are used to actual massages. If you are going all out for a gift, sure get it, but it isn't something substantial enough for me to recommend. Ultimately its a nice new thing to try in Winnipeg. With competition like Thermea and Float (they are in the same price range), they will need to prove that their stones do have the healing properties they say. Most likely with more reviews pouring in, over time, people will get a better sense of if it is worth it.

My visit to Pocca Poca was absolutely amazing! I give it 10 stars!!! I went with 3 other friends and all 4 of us got the Japanese Detox package, which included 60 min of Ganban-yoku and 60 min Shiatsu massage. We went in two at a time, two to the shiatsu massage while the other two enjoyed the Ganban-yoku, and then we switched (and compared how wonderful we felt after each!) The Ganban-yoku is the ultimate relaxing, healing experience. Each one of us was given a different healing stone with different therapeutic properties. The history and science behind the stones and their benefits is so incredible, I loved learning about them from Erin during our introduction. It was hot! (and amazing!) You heated up in a slow, gentle manner. I loved it. If you find it too hot, you can go into the lounge to cool off and have some water. I moved positions to feel the heat on different body parts, which felt great and almost fell asleep a few times. The bubbling sound in the background and the low lighting was such a soothing atmosphere. Highly recommend! This was my first Shiatsu massage. You wear the cotton kimonos during this combination of pressure point and stretching massage. It was very different, and very wonderful! I was impressed how loose my muscles felt afterwards. I love a classic massage, but this was a completely different experience and something to definitely try if you have some tight muscles and creaky joints! The massage therapists were so friendly and skilled. Absolutely recommend!! I can't say enough good things about this spa. From the explanations over the phone from Meiko, to the introduction and descriptions from Erin when we got there, to the Japanese and oasis-like ambiance of the spa. You have created a wonderful new place in Winnipeg to experience such an amazing escape... congratulations and THANK YOU! We loved this combination of massage and Ganban-yoku so much we have already booked our next session! See you again soon!! xox Kristin M.

Pocca Poca is the best. If you have not been, you are missing out. The experience is unlike any other. The spa is a positive and relaxing space from the moment you walk in. The staff are friendly and helpful. They are happy to have you there, and it shows. The stones are a life changer. If you go once you will immediately feel a release of stress and built up tension. Your body and mind feels in sync, and peaceful. This year I had the pleasure of joining their membership program. I did the gabana yoku almost every day for a month. This improved my sleep, body, and mind 100%. Unfortunately due to my school schedule, I was only able to do it for the month, but once on a steadier schedule I look forward to rejoining. Everything about this place is amazing. I have been coming for about 6 years, and wont ever stop. I recently had an "issue" happen as a result from my visit, after 6 years of nothing but consistent results. When I brought this to their attention, the owners were nothing but amazing and helpful. They resolved it for me with no hesitation, right away. They were devoted to helping me in any way they could, and this has made me love the spa even more. You are missing out if you have not visited Pocca Poca, do your mind body and soul a huge favour and try it out!

I went for the first time today and had the Shiatsu massage along with the Ganban-Yoku with 25 min foot massage. It was a very relaxing and positive experience. There is plenty of parking. Upon entering, I was greeted very pleasantly and provided sandals to wear. The person explaining the Ganban Yoku was clear and concise and had a pleasant demeanor as well. The facility is clean and welcoming. Satoshi performed my massage and he was excellent. The Ganban-Yoku room can get quite warm. I made the mistake of bringing a face-cloth as my small towel and it didn't roll up thick enough to be used as a low pillow. I suggest bringing a hand towel and a bath towel large enough for you to lay on without overhanging it. It was a wonderful 2hours and I can't count the number of times I slipped in and out of consciousness from being so relaxed. Thank-you Pocca Poca!

We were searching for a massage place and my sons found this site and he looked on the services being offered and the reviews. They said this look different and asked us if we want to try it. We agreed of course because they offered they will pay for it! My husband and I went there and we were mesmerized with the place it is so clean Kazumi who welcomed us is so friendly and nice even the two massage therapist! First time to try the heat stone at first I thought is a simple and ordinary stone but as we stayed longer with your towel laid on it the heat is just fine it was so relaxing I felt asleep actually. Everything was amazing the massage foot detox the hot stone the staff the place are all incredible! Highly Recommended! For sure we will come back here! Thank you for the warm and wonderful experience!

We visited Pocca Poca for the first time and I can say that it really was a very nice experience. The place is clean and the services cover many different options that someone can expect from a spa. The staff is very friendly, accommodating and they gave us a nice explanatory tour of what to expect and what is provided. We had booked the Tropical Escape for two so we could try a variety of services. Exfoliating treatment followed by a massage. Refreshing and to relaxing. Then we tried the Ganban-yoku and we really liked it. Peaceful, connecting and relieving experience at the same time . We will definitely go back for more.

My wife and I went here for the first time for a massage and the hot stone treatment. The staff was very friendly and courteous, explaining the process of the hot stones. The massages were incredible. My wife had the registered therapist, Scott, and I had Risa, a Japanese trained therapist. It was incredible and our muscles feel much better. We then went to the hot stones. The floor was hard, but you can use a towel, but an hour after that, we were relaxed, the pain in my shoulder was gone, and my wife felt the same. Definitely recommend this place.

My daughters and I attended Pocca Poca for a much needed get away. This was our first Ganban-yoku experience and it was very relaxing and enjoyable. We appreciated the quiet and meditative atmosphere as well as the staff who were all respectful and helpful. The Rock bed experience was an opportunity to lay in solitude and warm for 60 minutes. Between us we each had a massage or Shiatsu treatment and both were professional and healing. We would certainly go back again. If you haven't tried Ganban-yoku don't wait:)

We always have such a great experience at pocca poca. We have done the detox package every time we go and it’s always worth it. The shiatsu massages are so relaxing and therapeutic. The Ganban-yoku is also very relaxing and restorative, it’s great all year round, but I especially love it in the winter! My skin feel so soft each time. The staff are also amazing and you get these super comfortable kimonos to wear, which is a nice bonus. Overall, five stars. We love it!

  • Danial Peirson

Loved the whole experience. Appreciated the effort by staff in explaining the origins of ganbanyoku at the start of the visit. Massage provided by massage therapist Scott was very skilled and professional. The whole spa feels very clean, fresh, and meticulously maintained. Ganbanyoku tiles were very relaxing, felt rejuvenated afterwards. Looking forward to a return visit sometime!

Lovely Spa. Friendly Staff. First Massage ever and it felt like heaven. Went to lie down on the stones and passed out. 5 minutes into it and I was snoring. You can feel the heat which was nice. Will make you sweat without making you feel uncomfortable or icky. Very accommodating too. Bought a membership right then and there. Also quick to respond in instagram and email.

I had a great & unique experience here. The staff were so kind and friendly and very informative & helpful. I enjoyed the Gonban Yoku and the facial massage + foot massage, it was very relaxing and the heated stone felt great to lay on. Would recommend trying. I also really admire the plants and decor you have throughout the rooms. I would like to come back again soon.

As always, I got the best massage from Lindsay. It was the most relaxing and satisfying massage I have experienced. I've tried different therapist in different locations but Lindsay is by far the most knowledgeable in what she does. It makes a lot of difference when the person truly cares about her client, she will make sure you will get the best experience.

  • Barb Fayerman

This is such a treat!! We will be back. From when you walk in the door you are treated as the finest guest. The stones are Beautiful and so relaxing, I could feel the stress leaving my body. I had the shiatsu message and my husband had the deep tissue. Both massages were exceptional!! Thank you to Tomo and Mieko for making today special.

  • Will Cansino

I didn't enjoy the massage. I didn't feel relax and my pain didn't subside and so with my wife. They don't have standard procedures, my wife's masseuse applied a hot towel to wipe off oil on her body. My masseuse used the body cover to removed oil on my body. I don't recommend this shop to anyone. Expensive and waste of money

The first impression is often the most important, and this place makes a good one. The staff are very respectful, friendly and welcoming. The building is clean and well kept. The rooms are quiet and relaxing. And the massage therapist was one of the best I have had in the last two decades. Overall the experience is great!

  • Marc Gatien

Really great Japanese massage experience. My wife and I enjoyed a couples massage followed by the Ganban-yoku, and we felt much better and more relaxed. The RMTs here are very respectful and skilled, and you feel like you're being taken care of throughout the whole experience.

  • Jeanie Webb

This is one of the best experiences I have ever had. My husband and I have done the private room Ganban Yoku several times with the added on head and foot massage. You feel incredibly relaxed and refreshed afterwards. It’s a great place to give a gift certificate for as well.

  • Cat Ross

The experience was fantastic. The staff were knowledgable, the place was clean and very inviting, the volcanic rock slabs were so amazing to relax on and the massages were so detoxifying. Loved every minute of it and would highly suggest if you want an excellent sleep!

Great massage experience. I had Scott as my RMT and he was great, didn't talk too much and just made sure I had a wonderful experience, which I really appreciated. The atmosphere was very zen and spa like as well so that was wonderful.i did a 75 minute massage.

I paid $147 for a 60 minute scrubbing massage to find out afterwards that it isn't covered by insurance. I Wasn't informed about that upon booking. Had I known, I wouldn't have booked it to begin with. Scam move on their part!

Warm greeting, quiet and peaceful, professional. I went in with a jammed neck, the massage therapist loosened it all up. Followed by my first experience of laying on hot stones. Was a lovely experience.
