Sadly libraries are a dying breed and Newtown Library, whilst small, is still very much fit for purpose. GREAT kids selection, free WiFi and a really fantastic upstairs amphitheatre section for quiet reading that overlooks the library. Never had a problem with the staff who have always been friendly to me. If you can't find what you're looking for then you can order through City of Sydney and pick up from Newtown so looks are a little deceiving as long as you don't need the book instantly

Went to the library today to pick up a book before closing, and was quite surprised when the doors were locked at 3.52pm, not 4pm as advertised on their web page. When the librarian came outside she said they followed their own clock, which was apparently four pm already, and that she had to get home. Not only does she have the cushiest job on the planet, but gets to leave 8 minutes early from a tax-funded institution. Incredible.

Great selection of books for a small local library. The librarians are friendly and happy to help out when you need. Take a book to the upstairs area which looks out over the rest of the library and sit for a while, jump on a computer to surf the net or make a quick stop to pick up your weekly reading quota. They have a good kid's section and the women's library next door is a relaxed, quiet area.

Very nice environment, staff very friendly. 2 stars only because some days, like today (Monday), it was utterly noisy at computer stations. Users chatting happily and loudly even over the phone :-( . If you need to work and need more concentration look for other libraries.

computer are horrifically slow, they literally take ten mins to boot up. staff told me the wrong information which lead to me wasting time having to login in twice, and then refuses to take responsibility. just go to a cyber cafe if you have something important to do.

Great collection with outstanding staff. I signed up online and reserved a few DVDs. When I walked in, a very helpful woman helped me finish the sign in process and walk me through the process of checking out/in resources. Very happy to see institutions like this.

Just impossible to find anything. They havent got the book s seperated in genres so you end up going back and forth through the isles looking for something you like by author only. Frustrating and means you dont discover something new next to a book you like

people keep grumbling and making noises, alarms and high-pitched sounds keep on going for no reason, and using a drill several times over 2-3 hours over the afternoon when people just want a quiet space to be able to work may not be the best idea .

Good enough library but don't ask the staff for a book recommendation. Actually don't ask the staff for anything - they will all but growl at you - they are the rudest, most unhelpful and unfriendly staff I've come across in a while

An amazing resource to have. Was so impressed by a staff member Abdul. Who rang me personally to let me know that I'd left money in a book. Brilliant service and a great range of books online that can be easily ordered in.

Spent plenty an afternoon here working before my internet was installed at home. Can be crowded with people using the free wifi, but plenty of room upstairs to settle with laptop. The quiet environment is quite prodictive.

A beautiful and cozy local library. it has a good section with children's books and an activities corner for the little ones. The staff are very helpful. There is a free WiFi. A great community space in the Inner West.

Good location and cozy library with free wifi, kids area and books, quite amphitheatre reading area and friendly staff. Most of the new books are available. Renting and returning book is very easy.

Amazing staff served me today with printing. As I am a visitor from out of town I had to use computers to print and scan. The library is tidy and and I loved the displays. Thanks for your help Amy

Cute library, decent selection of books. Don't come here if you want a quiet environment to work in- the staff talk loudly to one another and loud patrons are not asked to reduce their volume.

My absolute favourite local library. Friendly staff, variety of literature new and old and plenty children’s book to choose from. Clever check in and out of system.

Slow non existent Wifi and only a few tables/chairs to use. Plus street parking is very hard to find and limited to 2 hours.
