They do not honor their original offers. I asked online for a price for a car with specific dates weeks before our trip to Mérida. Alvaro Alonzo with México Rent A Car responded via email with a quote of $700 MXN per day for a Nissan Tiida or $500 MXN per day if we payed cash. I quickly responded and asked a few clarifying questions. About a week later after asking for confirmation regarding the car and price, the car was changed to a Chevrolet Monza for the same price. I again agreed via email to rent the car. We arrived in Mérida and a few days later on the morning we intended to rent the car we called and were told that the car we were promised was not going to be returned in time, but that they had a Dodge Attitude that we could rent for $850 MXN per day. We later walked over to their office in Mérida to inquiry more about the car and negotiate a price. Just as we started to discuss why the original car was unavailable and we were now offered another car at a higher price the phone rang and it sounded like Alvaro offered the Dodge Attitude to another party at a much higher price. I have lived and traveled in México for several years now and I couldn’t help but think this was all a scam. I explained to Alvaro that I felt like he should honor the original price regardless of the car, but that we were willing to pay $700 MXN per day for the Dodge Attitude. He refused to accept our offer and we walked out. If you enjoy the thrill of no guarantees and possibly a good deal, then go with México Rent A Car. If you want your trip to go smoothly as plan, then you may want to consider another car rental agency.

We had an excellent experience with this company. The owner is the epitome of customer service. We only needed the car 4 or 5 days to visit sites well away from Merida , for any near ones and in Merida we used Uber taxis. I would not recommend driving in downtown Merida as an introduction to driving in Mexico, as just being a passenger in a taxi there was exciting enough at times. The owner kindly delivered and picked up the rental car to our Hotel on the outskirts, which saved us four journeys, two taxi rides and two harrowing drives back and forth plus the cost of the taxis. The owner refused to accept any extra payment for his time nor for the cost of his taxis home. The rental of the car for 5 days, including the mandatory Mexican insurance and the deposit for any damages was so modest that even if we had lost our deposit it would been still been cheaper than just hiring a car with some other companies. I would whole-heartedly recommend this company, and would just like to thank the owner once again for his excellent service.

Our experience with Mexico Rent A Car in Merida was nothing short of outstanding. Firstly, the car we rented was excellent value, better than all other car rental companies we went to in Merida. The owner was very accommodating, relaxed and helpful. This is where his customer service proved to be incredible; we found out late Sunday evening that our bus out of Merida was leaving at 7am instead of 10am. I had to call the owner on Sunday night to see if he could get into his office very early the next morning (6:45am) so we could drop the car off, sort out returning the deposit and get to our bus station on time. He agreed, everything went super smoothly and he even offered to take us to the bus station in the morning. I offered him a generous tip which he would not accept. It goes without saying that a larger franchise rental company would not have been so accommodating, and Mexico Rent A Car doing this for us saved us a lot of money and extra planning. Thanks again!

Overall the rental went fine except for timing which makes it not very worth it for the high price. We booked 2 cars one was going to be ready at 8.40am and the other would be brought back at 9.00am so the owner told me I could get it then. Already these times are late if you want to make the best use of a car for the day taking into account distances in mexico and how crowds can get. We arrived  at 9am. The shop was closed and he told us he was cleaning the car which took another 15mins. By the time we were done getting stuff ready etc we only left at 10am. We can bring back the cars until 9pm but anyways sunset is at 6pm and everything closes early. Therefore we did not do what we had planned that time which made it not worth it as it is 1000pesos for a day of rental per car. Be aware of this. The rest went OK it's just we wish we could have gotten the car at 8am or worst at 9am but not 10 !!

Wow! Que servicio tan excelente por parte del señor Alvaro de Mexico Rent A Car. Tuve que ir a Merida para una boda y quisimos aprovechar una visita a Chichen Itza y Progreso. Asi que me puse a buscar lugares para rentar autos y basado en las buenas criticas, escogimos Mexico Rent A Car. No me arrepiento para nada. Alvaro fue muy amable y el auto que rentamos (automatico) estaba en muy buena condicion. No hay costos escondidos, tiene precios economicos y el proceso es muy facil. Ah y tambien te deja que lo estaciones atras del negocio por si quieres caminar en el centro. Lo recomiendo mil veces a quien este buscando un lugar para rentar auto y explorar Merida. A family owned business with English speaking staff. Alvaro was very easy to deal with. He explained the rates and the covered insurance, we went through the car and noted all nicks and scratches, went through the ownership papers (which were complete and up to date) and he showed me how to operate the car. I was given two numbers to call if I had a problem and he said assistance would be provided within 80km of Merida. These are all the important things to know and do when renting in Mexico and Alvaro provided all of this without having to ask. The rate was very competitive and I got a discount on my second time renting. Highly recommended and I would use again.

Buena experiencia. Gran opción para una renta sencilla, costo integro sin extras (a diferencia de las cadenas de renta de autos que a la mera hora tienes que agregar y sumar mas cosas), la garantía que se toma me parece adecuada y accesible. Para nuestra suerte rentamos en el mismo día y tenía auto disponible. Quizá no sea un auto último modelo pero todo bien en la mecánica y funcionalidad del auto, si señalaría que un poco de limpieza en el auto no estaría mal. La atención y servicio por parte de Alvaro Alonzo muy bien también. Muy recomendable.

This is the best and cheapest car rental that you will find. They were so easy to deal with and our driver George was wonderful. Nothing was a bother. He took us to amazing cenotes even though the road was not very good. There were 4 of us and hiring the car was much better value than taking a tour. The car was very comfortable and had air conditioning. He was not in a hurry to bring us back after also going all the way to Uxmal. We are from Australia and were so happy to deal with this company. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

Un desastre, reservamos con dos semanas de anticipación el auto para una fecha (muy especial para mi y mi novia) para viajar y el dia anterior se comunico para cancelar ya que la persona q tenia el vehículo q nos correspondia pidio extender el alquiler. Si nos comprometemos con fechas y horarios se deberian cumplir! No vayan a este lugar! No se puede tomar un compromiso serio con esta gente! Recomiendo mucho a Hertz, muy buena atención y autos nuevos y limpios!

Recomiendo ampliamente el servicio, hay para todos los presupuestos, la atención fue excelente, tuvimos un inconveniente porque nos estacionamos mal y nos apoyaron en todo momento… A diferencia de otras agencias, el deposito en garantía es accesible y no te obligan a contratar seguros, en nuestro caso el depósito lo regresaron a la tarjeta 4 días después de la entrega, estamos muy agradecidos y contentos con el servicio y la atención de Alonso excelente

Highly recommend this car rental! Wij hebben 2 dagen een auto gehuurd bij Alvaro en hij had veruit de beste prijzen en service van Merida. We zijn bij een aantal kantoortjes geweest en ze waren niet allemaal even vriendelijk en de prijs was het dubbele van wat we bij Alvaro hebben betaald. Een eerlijk bedrijf en alles goed geregeld. Je mag zelfs gratis parkeren op hun parkeerplaats!

Rentamos un coche por 10 días con México Rent a Car. Precios muy económicos y servicio muy excelente: profesional y personal. Los coches no son los más nuevos pero es mejor así, considerando el tráfico. Teníamos un problemita con el primer coche (la luz de mantenimiento se encendió) y Don Alonso nos cambió inmediatamente el coche (hasta uno mejor). Muy recomendable!

Very friendly staff, good cars and instructions, also very helpful along the way - made nice recommendations of additional places to visit to make the most of our tour - if I ever need a car in Merida, I’d go back to this place! No pasan por ti al aeropuerto, nos hicieron llegar en taxi (+250), desde que me puse en contacto les dije que necesitaba un carro standar y cuando llegamos solo tenian automático, nos hicieron regresar al aeropuerto a buscar otra arrendadora, porque no se manejar automático y no tenían más carros, mejor busquen otra opción, lo barato sale caro

Great experience with them! I picked up the car in merida yucatan and dropped it in cancun airport. I visited so many places and It worked really well during the whole trip . Una semana antes hablamos, acordamos el costo y nos pidieron enviáramos nuestros datos, lo cuál hicimos, el día de llegada los contactamos nuevamente para revisar todo estuviera bien y nos comentaron que no tendrían el vehículo... Por lo menos creo se debe avisar con tiempo para buscar opciones a tiempo.

All arrangements by e-mail were kept . Pickup and drop off were flawless. The price per day was extremely reasonable. We rented the Attitude Dodge for ten days. No issues. Not a new car but served our needs. Very friendly and spoke English . You can not go wrong with this friendly family owned company.

wir haben 10 uhr morgens über whatsapp einen termin um 12 uhr oder davor abgemacht. als wir ankamen, war der laden geschlosseb. als wir angerufen haben, hiess es, das er ausser haus sei und im 13.00 zurückkehre. überhaupt nicht profesionell, wenigstens hätte man uns eine nachricht schreiben können!

Tout s'est très bien passé, le loueur est très à l'écoute et arrangeant. Environ $900 pour la journée, la voiture est dn très bon état. Nous avions crevé un pneu sur la route il n'a fait aucune remarque j'ai pu récupérer la caution sans problème. Merci à lui pour la location c'est parfait !!

Cheap, honest, efficient and very easy to deal with! Rental paperwork took around 15mins. I even had a small accident with a bus and broke the wing mirror glass which I thought was going to cost me $$$$ but 150pesos and it was sorted. You cant ask for better.

Friendly guy, quick response via WhatsApp. Cars are not brand new but the value for money is great. Had nothing to complain about. The office hours seem more like a guideline than actual operating times. I would suggest to call instead of walking by.

We rented a car for two days at a good price, no hidden extras. The car was an almost brand new Chevrolet automatic and arranging the rental was very easy. They let you use their parking spaces behind the office for free, which is a great bonus!

Cheapest around Merida, guaranteed. Other rentals sounds like tourist scam compared to it. No hidden costs like extra charge for a second driver, or other silly things. The last, but not the least: she speaks English! Simply amazing, isn't it?

Good rates on a great car (an old Nissan tsuru that was perfect for what we needed it for) - they were incredibly helpful at the office with planning a route around the yucatan peninsula and very flexible with return arrangements.

We booked a car and were told we could pick it up any time until 6pm Sunday. We rang just after 5pm to say we were on the way to collect it and he told us he had given it to someone else! Ruined our plans for the evening.
