This is long, but im hoping the manager/owner will see this too. I checked my calendar, and this terrible experience was on Sunday, March 26, in the afternoon The absolute worst cappuccino I've ever had and a much worse experience with the so-called barista . Cappuccino terrible and very, very watery. When I said it wasn't strong enough and I wanted something else instead (i asked instead to just make a strong Americano coffee). He was NOT happy that I said it didn't taste at all like a cappuccino, then quickly grabbed my cappuccino off of the counter and truly THREW it at/into the garbage across from him. He still charged me for my second one despite me saying it wasn't right since the first one was so bad and now thrown out. I pointed out how much money at cost it would have cost him and asked why he was being so rude. Then he raised his voice at me and said it was ME who was being rude and my fault that I didn't like how he made the cappuccino. And still wouldn't give me my American free. I told him I was going to call his manager the next day but didn't bother. But I'm following through now... and also told him I'd never set foot in there again and would pass on the word. I also bought a pastry...not good either...dry. Also, I was with a group of friends that day, and they also had bad quality beverages that he made. I noticed that someone in the comments said this place has gone downhill recently...in the last year (?) I noticed that the positive reviews aren't current.. from mostly 2 to 6 yrs ago. My guess is that 90% of the photos and 75% of the positive comments are old I hope that idiot doesn't work there still, as this happened about 6 months ago. I should have reviewed it back then Decor is ok, but just small tables and small space. There's so much potential for this place. Too bad.

The latte art here is normally really intricate so I think the staff member was new, because it was really subpar. The drinks only contained one pump of the flavour syrup that we requested it added for, would’ve preferred it a bit sweeter (ie the build for most coffee shops of 2 pumps for a small, 3 for a medium and four for a large). The espresso was really good and the ingredients were high quality. The girl working was very polite and took time to make a quality drink, without taking longer than necessary. Atmosphere is always nice, pleasant decoration, however there was a lot of dirt on the ground especially by tables which could’ve used a sweep. Shelves could’ve used some dusting as there was some build up. This was my favourite coffee shop but yesterday seemed kind of disappointing, it was 14 dollars for 2 drinks before tip. If I'm spending 7 dollars per drink, I would hope that the latte art would be of its usual quality. I don't want to be rude, it just was a very disappointing experience. Written based on February 28th, around 3pm

Terrible! Expensive! I bought 1 lb coffee for $ 22,5. I also want to try a ground coffee besides whole beans. I especially asked them that is your grinder perfect? Does it ground uniformly? They told me yes! However, it was terrible. You cannot use their coffee with nonpressurized basket, even for pressurized basket. Reply: Thank you for your reply. First of all, I am not saying anything about the cafe since I never try it. I am only saying about the price of your coffee and the quality of your ground coffee. I am sharing two photos for your ground coffee. One of them is with tamping, the other is not. Just tell me are you thinking it is a really uniform? Do you need a video record with this coffee when I try to shot an espresso? With a nonpressurized basket I claim that it is impossible. Since my grinder was broken at that time, I needed a ground coffee for my espresso machine.

I went in thinking that I would be able to get a chai latte one of the simplest drinks that I tend to order at every coffee shop but I was wrong. I ordered my chai latte and got frothed milk, the only spice to it was the ones I added, definitely not worth the 4.75. I also ordered a blueberry scone, I don't know if they know what a scone is supposed to be like, this was not a scone the best descriptor I have is a massive corn pop with blue berries as the taste and the texture was that of a puff pastry. I would suggest staying away, definitely not worth the over priced drinks or food.

I wrote the owner of the coffee house recently to privately discuss that I sat in his cafe for several hours and watched several people come and go from the tables. The staff on shift did not once wipe down a table between customers, nor did they wipe down anything else. This happened on both occasions. These measures should be in place regardless of covid. In addition to that, the bathroom was out of hand soap for two weeks. After I wrote to the owner, he did not bother to reply. I won't be supporting this business anymore, and recommend you dont either, especially during covid.

  • Mireille Tessier

Requested a bucket sized latte, but they only had a 20oz cup, so I compromised. Coffee tasted like a medium roast. Bright and tart, no bitter aftertaste. Especially smooth towards the end. Top of latte was super foamy - cappuccino-like. Which I love. Their board states they use whole milk, 1%, or oat for extra. Since I took the default (and it was delicious) I assume it was the whole milk they used. And it was glorious. Staff is unhurried and friendly. They take their time to make the perfect cup, and then take care of the next customer. Will be returning.

Very rude and abrupt service! Went with my 80year old mother in law and even she commented on how grumpy and rude he was and she never says anything about people. She is unsteady on her feet so I got her settled at a table and when I went back for mine he had thrown me off so much with his abruptness plus he didn't ask how I wanted it so I ended up with a large expensive coffee I couldn't drink because I can't have dairy. I didn't want to go back and deal with him so I just threw it out. We decided that was our last time going there.

Came here for the first time last weekend. The coffee shop is cute but small, limited seating even on a weekend. I ordered an iced matcha which was great, asked for 1/2 the amount of sweetener. I also had a cheddar and chive scone but it fell flat. Scones normally have a crumbly, soft texture and this was almost like a pastry-texture. Not sure why, also didn't taste fresh. Maybe in the heat wave the scone just didn't keep well throughout the day. I'd come back here for a drink but not food

  • Lisa

If you are looking to study there and need internet access I would rate 4 stars instead of 5 because it's a bit of a hassle connecting to the wifi. You have to ask the staff for a wifi code which is unique and can only service two devices for one hour. After that hour has passed you will need to ask the staff for another wifi code. If you can get past all that I would highly recommend going! The staff are friendly and the ambiance is really nice because of the large windows!!

  • kasia gt

very friendly staff, good espresso, and wonderful atmosphere. also, the latte art is fantastic here! always makes my day. i would give it 5 stars except their matcha tea latte’s are pretty terrible… everything else though is top notch. really good muffin selection too! they also sell a ton of local products from kingston and always advertise events going on in the community. a great addition to the kind of depressing atmosphere/mostly fast food places at the kingston centre.

  • Bantha Fodder

This location has seen a steady decline in recent years. Quality of service has gone down and I haven't caught a dark roast here for many weeks; I'm not so sure they even brew more than medium roast any more even though there are many offered. Has potential to he a very great cafe but needs a change for the better, rather than continual change for the worse.

Love Coffee House Kingston. Has been coming here since before the name change. Some of the best coffee around. London fogs (smogs) lattes, espresso and snacks are so good! Always something local that you can pick up and take home. Servers here are the best! Kudos to the only guy in YGK that I have met so far that can make animals and not just hearts! All locations are also very clean and comfortable! Perfect little coffee shop(both locations) Would recommend!

  • Alyssa H

I didn’t even get to ordering my drink. As soon as I walked in an individual came behind me did not say excuse me and proceeded to go behind the counter. Did not wash his hands after coming in from outside. No mask wearing of staff. Staff were not attentive and the lack of cleanliness and I was not comfortable having them making me a drink without a mask on. Just my opinion. But the lack of customer service and hand washing is unacceptable.

  • Colin Ennis

Quality of the product is great! But I'm never going here again. Management responds to concerns in social media (here and Facebook) with snark and defensiveness, never kindness. It's unbecoming and is a major turnoff. More than that, there's a sign in store lamenting how price increases are due to employees having to be paid more. Don't blame your employees that your business model relies on paying them as little as legally possible.

  • Marc Imbeault

Cute little artisanal coffee shop. Iced mocha was a little too sweet for my taste, but my partner's iced white mocha was perfect. They also have THE BEST cheddar & chive scones!

Chai tea latte with almond milk was great plus the happy hour between 5-6 for half priced hot drinks is nice. Ive had a few baked goods here and everything they taste hard and old .. And the inside could be a little cozier, really needs an update..new flooring and paint ..also the tables are usually super wobbly and can spin around. For being so expensive I would hope they could afford some renos..

  • Kelly Greer

Amazing staff and customer service! They have a great selection of unique soups, sandwiches, and baked goods and a long list of drinks (hot and cold) to choose from. I’ve never ordered anything I didn’t like and they’re great at suggesting new drinks to try based on past orders. The staff have a great attention to detail and are amazing at what they do. They also make their own whipped cream in house!

  • Joan Mercier

The staff has no idea how to make a cappuccino, let alone a dry cappuccino. One person told me they could not make it dry because it took to much milk... foam is full of air, it takes less. Another staff member told me this is how they are made at coffee shops... well it's the only coffee shop I have been in that continually and truly has no idea how to make a pretty simple beverage.

  • Kevin Smith

The sandwiches are always especially tasty and unique at this coffee shop. Lots of free parking in the mall shopping centre, and there are always free tables whenever I visit.

The good!: Super kind barista. My latte was great. The not so good: Location is VERY run down. Tattered seating, banged up furniture. Needs major renovation. I was genuinely surprised at how this place looked inside. Baked goods were not fresh and unfortunately I ended up tossing my date bar after one bite.

Went this morning to have coffee and do some work on my laptop. The latte was excellent but the way they handle wifi is really irritating. The hand out paper slips with a code. Primitive. Then when it expires after 1 hour and you need extra time, they demand a 2nd purchase or no additional time in the internet. Great way to lose customers. Not worth the latte. I’ll go elsewhere.

I like this place. A nice neighborhood coffee shop with a friendly feel. Coffee and food are always top notch. Place is spotless! Great covid protocols. Staff are amazing. In fact I dropped my phone in the parking lot and someone turned it into the staff. They figured out how to message me to say they had it and it was safe. Above and beyond and I am truly grateful!

Did not have a good experience at all, was super disappointed! Got an ice coffee with pumpkin spice, tasted like medicine, I had to throw it out. Scone was ok, barista was super unfriendly pretty sure he didn’t smile once. Building was very run down looking. Decor was cute though.

Some staff were okay but others didn't make an effort to help when the WiFi codes did not work and after the 3rd they gave me, I was locked out from the internet. When the entire reason I come here is to have a place I can enjoy a coffee and work online, this is a big problem. I'd rather go somewhere like Crave downtown after this experience.

I love the coffee. Most of the staff are nice but there’s one woman who never smiles, and not friendly at all (she seems like she wishes she could be anywhere else). I work in retail and I make an effort to talk to every guest. When I see her there I almost want to walk out. I find the space less cozy then I’d like but it’s convenient.

  • Andy Baird

The tea I had was pretty flavorless and the atmosphere was dead. I could of heard a pin drop in the place, no music or sound of any kind, it was like sitting in a library. Pretty dirty as well, we had a silverfish crawling around our tabletop. It was pretty pricy as well, and I usually go to Starbucks, so that’s saying something.

  • Daniel Snider

Have been several times to both locations. The staff at both are friendly, enthusiastic, and make some friggen' beautiful latte art. Please not that the art in this photo is a little distorted because I got excited and started drinking it before I thought to take a photo, but I can confirm it tastes as good as it looked.

  • Holly Craig

Always being a fan of this coffee shop. Taking one star off cause the coffee quality is very inconsistent. You really need to know the right barista. The owner and Brad make good coffee. Others might disappoint you, deeply (my cappuccino and americano tasted horrible and grinds flowing all over instead foam).

  • nathan duffy

Always good coffee and customer experience dealing with these guys but it's especially a cut above the rest when Brad is behind the counter, making the whole store feel more welcoming as a whole and the coffee absolutely splendous. I look forward to supporting such a fantastic store and barista in the future!

  • Diego Garcia

Just grabbed a coffee but it was cold and in my opinion the price was a little high for a small cup of coffee … I was expecting at least a medium size coffee like Tim hortons…

  • Nathan Holwell

Amazing local coffee shop serving some of the best baked goods I’ve ever tasted and great coffee sourced with local ingredients. Definitely give them a try (with appropriate PPE) if you’re travelling through the Kingston Centre or waiting for a partner at one of the many stores around the area.

  • Connor

I've always had a fantastic experience here, whether it be the customer service as they help me learn and try new items, the drinks and foos, or the quiet and chill atmosphere while I catch up with a good friend. I usually come here for chai lattes for myself and a friend, as I've attached.

  • Mukesh Kumar

Somebody mentioned in one of the other comments about the snarky and petty condescending replies by the owner of this. I fully agree. "Management responds to concerns in social media (here and Facebook) with snark and defensiveness, never kindness. It's unbecoming and is a major turnoff."

  • Carla Garrett

This place seems to always have someone there from the community to chat with, often just busy enough to know their good with enough seating, and the staff are friendly and fast. Well worth a good tip and a nice thank you. The coffee and treats are fresh and fabulous everytime you go.

  • Florida Taillon

Good service with amazing coffee. A little sad they switched from Monin syrup to Torani's and they should consider choosing a better type of soy milk. But it's fair trade organic coffee roasted in town and I'll definitely go back.

I went in for two lattes this morning. It cost me $19. No coffee should be that amount. To pay 7.80 for a medium and extra for the flavour (which was not advertised). I’m sorry but we will never be coming back. Inflation or not that is outrageous.

  • Laurie 808

Coffee was good but staff were not as friendly as I would have expected. Mind you it was Canada Day weekend, so quite busy. The cafe should consider doing a breakfast sandwich as we had to hunt some down elsewhere after getting our coffee here.

  • Wooby (wooby.ca)

Staff always makes me feel genuinely welcome with their friendly attentiveness. I've tried a good number of their menu items, and have always been quite happy with them. Really nice place to enjoy some good coffee with friends, or on your own.

Been here 3 times, 1st 2 times it was great amazing coffee which is why I'm a repeat. Today the coffee was horrible. Old and cold. Loses a star for consistency. Starbucks has consistency for simple drip coffee to perfection. Will return.

Good coffee but awful staff person. He couldn't care less about customers, was on his phone the whole time and if you interupted hin to ask about service, it was like he was put out. No manners. This was Sarurday 26th.
