I don’t know where to start, so I’ll just say the Italian Bakery saved my butt in the yummiest way. I placed a large order for custom sugar cookies a couple of weeks in advance of an event. Little did I notice, I gave the date for the day after the event. I followed up the day before to confirm details and bakery staff alerted me to my error. They did not have to do this — though I’m sure a large order is not something they’d happily let go — but Chantal not only ensured I had a way to keep in touch after hours, contacted the baker when they’d already gone home, and went above and beyond to see if it was still possible, but they also started on our order before getting confirmation the morning of - just in case we didn’t want to cancel. Sure, bakeries start early, but a special kudos goes out to someone working after hours AND before to connect with me prior to 7 in the morning and see if I still wanted the cookies to happen. Upon my arrival at the bakery, the young staff member who greeted me was friendly and professional when helping me with an order that was clearly for the following day. They confirmed everything, helped me load my vehicle, and even allowed me to borrow the bakery trays to make transportation safer for the cookies and easier for me. I did not catch their name, but a shoutout here, too. This is entirely about service, which was an easy 5 stars. I wish I could speak more to the food, but I only snatched a cookie at the end of a long day on my way to return the trays. I thought it was great! But am I still kicking myself for not picking up a focaccia while I was there? You bet. I’ll definitely return, with no event deadlines in tow, to sample the beautiful product. I can tell you that if you’re looking for a visual meditation, standing in front of the display cases of yummy treats will send you into a sweet-tooth dream world. From the bottom of my anxious heart, thank you, Italian Bakery!!

I have been here a couple times with my daughter. We really tried to like the place but whenever we have went here the pastries have been more of a miss then a hit. Our last experience was the worst! We waited about 5 to 10 minutes to be served and there was only one other customer in store with like 3 workers just standing around. They just acted like they didn’t see us standing there waiting to be served and then when we did get served they gave us pastries we didn’t order and all the pastries tasted old and were dry. One pastry they put upside down and it was so old it crumpled when I was looking at food. Never coming back but honestly by how we were treated, I kind of think that’s what they wanted. I feel bad that my 10 year old daughter had to be treated so rudely. She went back for forks and staff just stood behind pastry counter ignoring her! Don’t let the looks of the food fool you. It’s not fresh at all. We bought 4 pastries that we threw away.

No more custom sandwiches means no more customer unfortunately. I’ve been coming to the Italian bakery almost once a week for the better part of the last 10 years, first to the Chinatown location, and now this new location. My grandpa and I would come for 2 custom sandwiches and a couple donuts, and as I got older I continued to come alone. The only reason I was an Italian bakery customer was for your amazing custom sandwiches at a fair price. It boggles my mind why you chose to discontinue this. The quick and easy enjoyable customer experience of grabbing a quality sandwich for lunch kept me coming back. And no, your premade sandwiches are not a sufficient solution. The first week I came in to the new store layout, another fellow customer and myself had a conversation about how backwards this was and how we no longer had a reason to return. I hope you can understand. And in the future if changes are made I would love to become a customer again. - Noah

Lovely bakery! Im from out of town and it was my first time here from out of town, my aunt and uncle took me out for an Italian sandwich fresh from the deli. We ate at the bakery. Lovely shop, very clean and well organized with both fresh baked goods and grocery items. Excellent selection with great prices. I had the pastrami sandwich with old havarti cheese and the tiramisu. Both were delicious. The fresh pasta and sauce looked so good and would have made a fun quick meal. If only i was staying longer, next time!. Highly recommend to stop in for a treat if you're in the area. There's also lots of parking in the back.

The place looks really nice and full of goodies. The bakery definitely to die for. However I guess I walked in on a wrong day. The young lady who served must have thought I was joking or wasting her time at first. I actually had my daughter on face time picking out all the baked goods we agreed on. Got home and my first go to was the piece of strawberry/cherry cheese cake. I thought something was wrong with my taste buds so my son took the other piece and yeah there was something off. The taste was dry maybe they used cream cheese. The doughnuts both the sugar doughnuts and maple chocolate tasted stale. The piece with walnuts tasted so bad I could not take a second bite. Despitey bad experience with their baked goods, it does seem like a nice place.

I live about 5 mins by car from the location on 118. I've lived here for about 2 years and I'm so disappointed in myself for not going sooner than last week. The bakery has so many delicious treats to choose from, but also has the best breads for subs, and with the deli being that close to crusty buns it's really hard to resist throwing the 2 together and munching out. There are so many meats and cheeses you're sure to find a couple of sandwiches to fill you up. There are a couple of tables and chairs up front so you can enjoy right away. There are also lots of products aside from the deli and the bakery. Go in and enjoy sooner than later.. I was late, but I've been there 2 times since.. making up for my lateness

I’ve been coming to this location for over 30 years. The bakery was always phenomenal. Unfortunately the last few years they have slipped to a mediocre grocery store like bakery. I purchased 2 chocolate long johns and they were completely dry and obviously 2 day old minimum. As well bought two apple turnovers. Both had hardly any filling and burned and dry. Two weeks later I thought I’d give them another chance. I bought two carrot cake slices and two chocolate cake slices. Despite the price I had to be sure they went down hill. Well don’t bother. Cake was dry, obviously several days old . Oh well I guess things change but this is only a deli at best now. Don’t Waste Your Money on dried out day old bakery here.

Love this place !! Best selection of meats and other items. The prosciutto is by far the best I’ve ever had, but make sure you ask for thinly sliced. Only complaint I have is the one time they cut it super thick and it had to be thrown out. Super disappointed seeing as prosciutto has to be thin to be able to enjoy it. The garlic butter spread is a must!! That is only if it’s in stock because it sells fast. Tons of options and I’m super impressed by the prices. They’re affordable and high quality. I wish they had more cheese options but maybe that’ll be in their future. The customer service is always super friendly and they’re very clean and tidy. Highly recommended!

Really used to love coming here and getting custom sandwiches. Today I discovered they no longer do custom sandwiches. I had to settle for a panini, which wasn’t bad, but I just missed the experience of making my own sandwich. They have completely change how they do things. You no longer pick a number, you just stand around and hope that someone will see you to help you. Kind of confusing and disorganized. The custom sandwiches were the best part of the Italian Bakery, and set them apart from other Italian delis/bakeries in Edmonton. A real shame, but I’ll have to look for a new place to get delicious sandwiches.

My husband and I came to bakery to buy cake and we got cake and we got pieces as well 12 of them iv tried strawberry one I was thinking it would be full of flavor but it really had no taste hint of strawberry I could only get cream taste, and as the Nutella I was like yummy I tried as well I never even tasted Nutella there was only one that had my tastebudz going more, I have no idea what cake I think banana something it was so good brownies where good as well over all I think this place is kind, helpful, fast. And you guys "n" girlz have a good one

  • Darth Varden

Beyond fabulous! Staff are friendly and helpful. Baked goods are fresh, scrumptious, and reasonably priced for a specialty shop. Great selection of condiments hard to find anywhere else. I have been searching for extra hot Lowensenf mustard for ages. They have it. Also the chocolate rum balls are to die for... all the gooey goodness all the time! They are huge and only ten bucks for a baker's dozen. A must try if one needs to satiate a ferocious sweet tooth, but be prepared for, or at least aware of, the sugar coma that could likely follow. Enjoy!

I would really like to express how wonderful my service was today, especially with the young lady that was working the meat department young blonde girl with fun earrings. I found out today some really bad news in regards to a family member of mine as she went up and beyond. She was absolutely sweet, kind caring I was crying at the meat counter in regards to my family member and she’s asked me if she could give me a doughnut to make me feel better. Just a wonderful, sweet soul so happy I get to shop here and people like her work there.thx you

Been a customer for over 20 years, hate to write this review and have continually gone back in hopes that the previous high quality of their baked goods will come back….sad to say I don’t think it will and will be giving up on the Italian bakery. The pastries have consistently tasted stale, old, dry and hard over the past few years. Customer service is mediocre and sometimes rude - and it’s always been that way, but in the past it could be overlooked for their high quality pastries. Unfortunately now they have nothing to offer.

  • Titania

a 1-1/2 hour bus trip to get a cake, Staff just kept telling me to talk to someone else, then struggled to pick up a few other things through an incredibly overcrowded store, items sticking out of shelves, the deli was closed-yeah, it was late so is forgivable then they HAD NO LARGE BAG FOR THE CAKE ‍♀️and it wouldn't fit in my shopping buggy so all sideways it went ‍♀️. And both cashiers were at the very back of the store NOT WORTH the long trip over... nevermore

  • Audrey Dolinski

Very excited when i walked in and saw fresh display of pastries. Purchased about $25 of individual items. Was so disappointed in the taste and quality i will not frequent again. The oreo slice had a disgusting topping which i thought was real whipped cream another slice was a chocolate amaretto and not even a hint of almond flavor. If i wnted cake mux quality and cool whip guess i could have attemped to make myself a d then feel they would have tasted better. The several slices of tirmisau were edible.

  • Steven J

Finally got the chance to start coming here over the last couple months. Highly recommend for anything you can imagine. Sliced meats and cheeses are at or below the price you would pay at the grocery store, and much higher quality. Desserts and baked goods are the same, tremendous quality at a great price. The staff are all incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, and the selection of imported items is phenomenal, stuff you won't find anywhere else.

I love these guys sandwiches... Made to order with no skimping on the cold cut meats and cheese. The bakery section always gets us... Today we had a fresh spinach and feta tart and a donut. But it was very difficult to have restraint. I picked up some artichokes and picked banana peppers too. But maybe my favorite grocery item here is the syrups... Blackberry, current, pomegranate... Simple ingredients and delicious for homemade Italian sodas or in mixed drinks, pancakes...

I guess the young girl in blond hair must be owner's daughter. I guess this is the only reason that she has not got fired yet. There are so many critical comments against her which are 100% true. No greeting, No facial expression, No appreciation. If you do not like this job, then you probably shouldn't be here. People eat sweets because they feel happy when they are eating it. However the service you provided cannot make me happy no matter how much sweets I eat.

  • Amit Malhotra

I bought dozen of the donuts from Italian Bakery. The donuts this time were not as good as my last visit. The bread part of the donuts was very dry and didn't feel fresh, even though I was there at 10:30 in the morning. Over all a great place to go to for bakery and deli. They have huge selection in baked goods and deli items. Staff is friendly and helpful. All the necessary precautions are being taken to keep the customers safe in these Covid-19 times.

  • Rose Di Fazio

I really tried to like this place because it’s so close to my house and would save me a drive to the Italian Center but I can’t. You can’t call yourself an Italian bakery just because you have a few buns and a couple things from Italy. They didn’t even know what I was talking about when I asked for a specific pasta. Staff act like you’re bugging them when you need assistance. The pastries taste stale. It’s so shameful.

  • Rhonda Kirk-Dasiuk

Clean, organized, keeping tradition going with real fresh crusty buns and bread-amazing. The deli has so many choices and prices can’t be beat by far. The whole store has gone through and still going through changes and improvements- love that they are always trying to do more for the community. Thank you all for making it so great for all of us. Wow- thumbs up x5! …and the gelato and specialty coffees home runs

The Italian Bakery presents an exceptional array of delectable treats, boasting an exquisite taste that tantalizes the palate. Their creations showcase a masterful blend of authentic Italian flavors, offering a symphony of tastes that captivate the senses. Each bite is a testament to their commitment to culinary excellence, ensuring a delightful experience for those seeking unparalleled taste sensations.

  • John Grierson

Family run business with excellent bread, buns and pastries and also has an extensive deli counter and a large selection of European foods. Don't forget to take a ticket when you get in, they use it as a queuing system. The store has a ramp at the back and flat entrance in front but no automatic doors. The friendly staff will help with doors if they see you. They make excellent sandwiches.

  • Ron Tkachuk

Just wanted to say a great big THANK YOU to the Italian Bakery!!! We ordered a birthday cake in the shape of number 27 for our daughter's champagne birthday, 27 on the 27th. They did such a fantastic job, our whole family was surprised and impressed with the cake! Also, it was one of the best tasting cakes we've ever had. Thank you so much for making her birthday extra special.

  • NB Girl

Staff are very friendly, helpful and quick. Products are always fresh and they even have a day old section to buy croissants and bread. Absolutely love this bread! I typically don't eat any other kind. And their crusty rolls are an absolute must when I'm there too. Well worth the prices, but I find them to be very affordable anyhow. I got a dozen crusty rolls for just $3.

  • Lisa Lane

Great food, excellent service, but does not accommodate scooters. Had to get staff to gather my food together and then go over to the till and tap my card. I hoped they wouldn't scam me, and they didn't. It would be nice if there was more space coming in the front door. Hit a table on my way in. Love, love, love, their sausage rolls, bread, doughnuts, and Polenta rolls.

  • Lingxiaoxiao Kong

Used to its’ customer in Chinatown area, and tried the bakery at taste of edmonton. Drives 30min+to the current location today. The bakery was good, but very disappointed with the stuff. You would better make sure what you want to order before showed up to the store as the young lady with blond hair has zero patience to wait for the customers. Will never go there again.

  • Liz Gouger

Be sure you get what you asked for. The music is loud, and the guy behind the counter can't hear. We asked three times for custard tarts, came home and found two cream ( that's what it says on the bill, but that is not cream) filled things in the box. I asked for mocha cannolli, got chocolate chip, which I had said no to. All in all, will not go again, disappointing!

  • Austin

Excellent service always. I have come here several times for cheese because you can get it cheaper in bulk here then box chain stores. I have not had a problem yet and even waiting in line is can be entertaining because of all the illustrations and pictures they have stamped on the walls. Tells you a history and an unwavering commitment to their customers!

  • JonJonPoPong

Really great Bakery. I often go here to buy either some sweets or even just a loaf of bread. Their bread is really good, however their hot dog and burger buns are AMAZING, super tasty. Their baked goods selection is really good too, they have a great selection and fair prices. Their donuts are tasty and unlike other bakeries they aren't retarded prices.

  • Paige Haskell

I was a little disappointed coming here. We were already in town and wanted to stop somewhere to get some baked goods. I usually have no complaints when it comes to Italian bakeries but was turned off by the cannolis and brownies. The employees were great! I just feel there are better Italian bakeries. I wish they had taste testers before committing

  • efrain guevara

I usually do reviews for places or expirences that I genuinely loved. Today I went to purchase a Chocolate cheesecake and Sabrina (young lady with purple hair) did a tremendous job showing me all the options of cakes, she is the most polite person I've talked to in years. Honestly if there was an option to give this place more stars I would. Bravo.

  • phill goldstein

Great stuff. I was astonished with the affordable prices and quality of goods. The tarts where shockingly delicious. What stood above all else were the buns. We got two bags and went through them in a day and a half. The Onion buns were to die for. I would move to Edmonton just to visit this bakery more. A mist visit for any traveler or local

  • Stephen Cornish

Technically I would give it 3.5 Stars. The staff was mostly friendly. The grocery area was well managed and organized. But, the deli area wasn't as clean as it could be (especially the washrooms) and the counter staff after repeating out order still managed to get things quite wrong. So best of intentions, but needs work on the details.

  • Cassandra Wade

The couple pastries I tried were good, however the prosciutto arugula sandwich was not at all worth $10. It tasted like eating a plain bun with a few slices of prosciutto inside. Barely any sauce and maybe 5 pieces of arugula on the entire sandwich. Definitely disappointed as I had read some really good reviews about their sandwiches.

  • Kyle Friesen

The Italian Bakery has been a staple of Edmonton Beverley area for as long as most can remember. When Mr. Sub was one of the original Sub locations long before Sub was the Italian Bakery was making Sub Buns for All Sub Shops and the best bread and pastry anywhere. It a MUST stop location when shopping

  • Katie Taras

Great my fiance and I always go to stock up on bread, theirs is the best and when we do we always end up with a little treat it's always delicious cream horns recommended the staff are nice and I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself if anything you might get a little close because the store is a little small.

  • Bernadine

Awesome bakery near my home. Fresh baked breads. If you want a birthday cake that is different from the rest, come here. Decently priced around $25 for a good quality birthday cake. The place is a bit cramped for isle space. But its busy with customers, so that shows how good it is. Prices are decent.

  • Kerry K

OMG!!! Best place for an amazing coffee and dessert! They have an amazing market full of dried and fresh goods. Their prices were incredible! We bought 2 pops, 1 donut, 1 piece of carrot cake, 2 meringues all for $10 We ended up going back later for a sandwiches .. 2 build your own sandwiches..yum!!

  • Danni Quinn

This place used to be an amazing family run Bakery. Closed on Sundays which meant the staff had time with there family now open to make more money. Open pretty much all Easter weekend not allowing the staff time with there family. The quality has gone down hill too. Used to be fresh no longer is.

  • Minna Dominiuk

Such a super little reminder of days gone by. Tiny, but a great selection of European staples & treats. If you're in a hurry, perhaps come by another time when you can better experience the detailed one -on-one customer service that is so rare these days. These folks know how to treat you right!

  • Deanna Chou

Popular for years in Edmonton. Great selection of bakery treats, bread/rolls, and deli, in addition to the selection of pantry staples. It can get quite busy - take a ticket! I noted a notice for curbside and there is ample parking in the back. Wear a mask. A little jewel in our neighbourhood.

  • cole hoffman

Went there today and got some bread and an apple turn over , the apple turn over cast 2.50$ and it was empty , almost no filling at all .... and their bread is really dry. Used to be really good before the fire. Seems like just a cash grab now. Quantity over quality should be their new motto.

  • Lorraine Collins

I feel like they push their oldest product to leave first. There's been too many times I've bought sandwiches and they were off the next day. I Just bought buns to make them myself and when I get home they're rock hard. Very few and far between I get anything "fresh". Decent prices though.

  • Deanna M

My family went here, I got the raspberry cake, my son got the caramel chocolate cake, it was really gross, although I do like that bakery and never had a bad experience there before but we each threw our $4 cakes right in the garbage. They had no flavour, did not taste like cake …

  • Key Ranido

I know they are in a hurry because you are about to close, but don't let your customer look stupid. Especially when my friends told me we live nearby a famous Italian bakery which they said makes good breads, however, customer service is not good. Worse experience ever.

  • Michel Somebody

Fantastic place and a good selection of exotic goods. Today I went to get some donuts; the freshness and taste is outstanding. They also seem to have Italian vegetable seeds as well. Much better than some other places I've been to. Would definitely recommend going here.

  • Ekim #Yeg

Very nice store great selection nice and clean the only reason I gave it 3 stars. There was 6 staff members working, and it took about 15 minutes to get a dozen buns. Hey but you know what!!! Go check them out cause everyone has a bad day sometime.. See you soon...

  • JJ Hoffman

NEIGHBORHOOD GEM. Amazing single dessert options, lots of breads, cakes, rolls (you name it). Also a fantastic deli with lots of cool cheeses and sliced meats. The store portion has a proper canned and dry goods section so you can do a fair amount of shopping here.

  • Chris McLeod

Don't even live remotely close to it, but when something like kids hockey gets me within 20 minutes drive... I'm there. Best doughnuts in city for sure and everything else is is always great too. I do miss that they stopped making custom made sandwiches though.

  • Larry Opissinow

I like the wide selection of baked goods as well as the products they offer on the shelf, though i do have one suggestion for the banana cream pie, use graham crackers as the normal dough crust you guys use is very very bland and it has an odd chewy texture

  • Doug Wiltshire

Best Italian bread and baked goods you'll find anywhere. Was a regular at their downtown for years until it burned down. Excellent selection of groceries too .Family run, family proud. Don't hesitate to try it. You'll be hooked. Kids love the fresh donuts.

  • Sara Buruh

Bad experience, ordered 2 birthday cake 2days ago, called before pick up time to make sure if my cakes are ready, they did not make what I ordered instead they just packed me a ready cake..... Waiting more than half an hour to get what I want …

  • Cali Wiersma

I could live here. This place smells amazing and has so many treats, meats and other goods. Amazing baked goods. Wish we had this place close to where we live now! You must try the carrot cake, it's to die for! Ooo, and the Mocha Cannoli. So good!!

  • Reina Granados

Absolutely love all the food. This time we went with a special request... No dairy dessert. WOW was impressed at all the options. They took time to help us out. Did you know the horns, turnovers, some cookies, and some pies are dairy free!?

  • Nicole Abris

Always clean and the staff is always helpful. The lady who does my sandwiches is always very patient with me, and I know it’s not easy to customize sandwiches on a busy day but she doesn’t make me feel like I’m asking for a lot. Very nice!

  • Althea Livingston

Love this local spot in Beverly! It’s our family’s go-to for all of our birthday cakes! I love the variety of flavours of cake them have… plus all the other wonderful treats! The carrot cake and tiramisu are our favourites …

  • robert seabrook

It must be inflation but prices are super high and quality is waaay down! I got a slice of cheese cake and it was so old it was terrible. I am hoping that this place can return to its former glory cuz I used to love the Italian Bakery.

  • Gates Chenier

Very good !! Coconut donuts are amazing!! I understand the covid measures are in place for our safety however parking in the back and walking to the front in that icy parking lot as definitely slowed us down from going and others too.

  • Mama Schubinski

Best bakery hands down! Everything is fresh and the pastries are excellent!! If your looking for somewhere to stop for lunch, this is the place! Sandwich and pastry with a drink, it will leave you feeling so much more then satisfied

  • Urban Dweller

Clean seating area to drink coffee or eat. Convenient washrooms. Doughnuts were quite good. Counter staff amazing. Cashier in the back not so much because another customer butt me in line & the lady just rang her items thru. WTH.

  • Big Momma

It was hard to decide if I wanted dessert deli meat or little bit of everything off the shelf. So I got just that I got some cannolis I got a deli meat sandwich and I got some apple pie syrup which is absolutely delicious …

  • Alysha Babcock

Well I tried this bakery, the staff was great the desserts looked amazing! I bought 4 different desserts to sample and sadly they were all stale and did not taste well at all. I'm quite disappointed and will not be going back.

  • Rueben Releeshahn

Family owned bakery that has been in business forever, the treats are exceptional and the prices on grocery imports are decent. Packed with goods. Get there before early afternoon if you want any specialty bread, though.

  • Kenny g Mc-g

Not happy that they stopped making fresh sandwiches and only offer pre made ones. Used to be worth the drive but there isn’t much you can’t find at spinellis a block away. Hopefully they reopen in Chinatown some day.

  • J K

Excellent selection of baked goods. Donuts, cake, cookies, bread - all are delicious! Love the deli ends too, so much fun trying a random selection of meats. One of the places I try to visit whenever I'm in Edmonton!

  • Miranda Rehaume

Love this local family owned bakery … it’s right down the street from our grandparents house .. nothing like the smell Of fresh baked bread. Our grandma loved their buns and they were served at every Sunday dinner !!

  • S T

Hands down one of the best bakeries in Edmonton. Fresh baked goods and at a very economical price. Definitely miss the days of fresh made sandwiches to order, but the pre-made ones are actually pretty good.

  • les parak

The place was better years ago when the Parents ran the place . But Since the Kids took over some times the Bread and Bunns aren't always Cooked enough . But I'm still happy to do my shopping there . …

Best place and prices on fresh buns, fresh breads and pastries. Their flakey raspberry turnovers are one of my favorites. Staff is always happy to help and the location is easy and safe to access.

  • Theo De Leon

Both ladies that helped me were excellent in service and friendliness. The cashier is hilarious! I'll be back for sure just for the service but the food and pastries I bought were awesome as well.

  • Mary Bourlai

Very good! If you're going on a picnic and don't want to make sandwiches, pre order the heavy hitter sandwich for $20. It's always excellent! Ask for them to cut it into at least 8 pieces.

Growing up in Beverly, the Italian bakery was always 1 if my favorite place to go for a fresh sandwich, donuts and pastries and a wide selection of grocery goods. Always friendly service.

  • Bre Carter

Very nice place with good food and desserts. Large bead selection but come early or call ahead to grantee your product is still in stock. Can get fairly congested during peak hours.

With prices at Loblaws being more expensive than your small local grocer, there is truly no reason not to come here to get your essentials. Amazing place with fresh everything.

Tried multiple items in the bakery and everything was stale and gross! Tasted like it was a few days old. Will not be going back! Staff was super friendly though.

Very busy good food but not enough staff. They should get people to take a number as everyone was cutting in line. I did notice they had a hiring sign out front.
