If you have a Bouvier des Flandres, you will NOT be welcome to the services of this establishment. If you are looking for a pet grooming operation that will plan and schedule your appointments, and communicate with you. . .this is NOT the place for you. We have an anxious Bouvier who required a grooming. The Bouvier was given anti anxiety medication for the initial appointment, but was deemed to be too aggressive, and had to be removed quickly. The groomer said when the dog was backed into a corner into a corner she became too aggressive! The body was done, but legs, chest, hind end, and claw clip was not completed. The full fee for a large dog was charged and paid. A second appointment was scheduled, to bring her in at a less busy time, due to her anxiety. This appointment was postponed by CocoMutts, due to a staffing issue (the specific groomer left the business). Another appointment was scheduled and confirmed May 9, for June 3,(by E-Mail) and a follow-up reminder was sent May 31 by (E-Mail). Upon arrival at the establishment, the first question before hello, "was she given the sedation meds?" This was from the store Manager! I waited for the groomer as advised. She came out from rear room, took one look at my Bouvier, and hesitatingly said "I am not comfortable with grooming her" She went on to explain (ad nauseum) that the Bouvier groomer was not here, and the looked anxiously to the store Manager for advice. Once again the story was repeated about the former groomer, and how this was not a good time because the grooming area was full. In fact, another groomer could hardly open the door to enter or exit because of the volume of dogs inside. She said there a scheduling problem. Seriously? While sitting behind her counter, the Manager had no idea of the chaos, and then naturally could not pick up the phone to advise of the environment, or apologise. Lastly, CocoMutts policy states First time no-show or same day cancellation will incur a fee equal to 50% of the total grooming appointment. The second time will incur a fee of 100% of the total grooming appointment. The third time all future appointments will be required to pay at the time of booking – should the client no show these fees are non-refundable. Notice to change an appointment must be given with no less than 24hrs notice (during business hours – calls/emails/texts after business hours for same/next day cancellation will be considered same day cancellation). An appointment who arrives more than 15 minutes past their scheduled appointment time will be considered a no show if no prior arrangements have been made. What about the client, who took the day off for the appointment, and paid previously for a full groom (received a quarter of service), with no offer of compensation for the cancellation? Extremely poor Management and Administration. Buyer Beware!! Thanks for your response? You did not address all issues raised, neglected to say that we had received your advice and sedated her, advised when entered the grooming studio. Your unawareness of your staff limitations and skills, lack of administrative skills of scheduling in your business, your lack of professionalism and personable skills when greeting, dealing and communicating with current and potential clients, It is a folly to to hide behind the safety of your employees, when the blame starts at the top, and the inability to deal with issues when raised. Have no fear, I will advise by social media your shortcomings.

We've taken our dog to Cocomutts on 3 separate occasions for grooming; and never again. We have a 4lb poodle and always requested a teddy bear cut. The first time she was groomed, we showed pictures from online of the look we wanted. When we picked her up, she was shaved and we were given the excuse that the dog was matted. However we were not of the same opinion, nor were we made aware that the dog would be shaved. See the picture with the neck scarf of the resulting cut. She was shaved everywhere with disproportionately long ears remaining. Although we were hesitant to give Cocomutts another try, at the next visit we made sure to show pictures of the previous cut and explained that we were very unhappy and again we showed pictures of the requested cut. The end result was great. Our groomer was Cezanne. Just 2 months after the last grooming, we booked our most recent visit. Since we would be on vacation, a family member dropped the dog off. Pictures from the previous visit were provided and they also took copies of these pictures. Within minutes of dropping the dog off, while still in the shop, the family member was told that the dog's coat would need to be "bought down". She wasn't of the understanding that this meant shaving the entire dog as they just went over the pictures. The groomer was Cindy. The dog was assessed to be shaved entirely before a wash or any attempt to produce the requested cut. See the attached pictures of the result. Before posting this review we contacted Cocomutts to find out what went wrong. Their response is they are experienced and that their assessment was a full shave was required. Furthermore, by informing the family member, whether fully understood or not, they can shave the dog entirely according to their policy. The employee who we spoke to on the phone told us to review their policy and that any other grooming company would do the same thing. When asked about why no attempt was made to achieve the requested cut on her head, legs, face, or any other part of the dog, she gave the analogy that when her son had gum in his hair, they had to shave his entire head. Any parent who has experienced gum in their child's hair knows that shaving is the absolute last resort and almost always unnecessary with a good barber. Similarly, a shave should be the absolute last resort for a dog as well. For 2 of 3 cuts mats has been their excuse to shave the dog from head to toe. I'm sure the owner will respond here with the greatest of excuses. Maybe they'll even mention their security cameras in their description of the events as they did to us. But the results speak for themselves. Specifically request Cezanne as your groomer or go elsewhere. Do not give Cocomutts the satisfaction of taking your money while being dissatisfied in their work. Note that when we asked if they wanted to give the opportunity to make up for this with compensation now or for later grooming, they refused. Edit to owner's response: Glad the owner likes our evidence-based explanation as they've provided none their response. They really think that customers are to believe that even the dog's entire face, head, and ears were so severely matted in 2 months that nothing else could be done. Please. Zero care was taken to keep the desired look and the groomer made their own decision even after being provided with pictures and explicit direction of the requested cut. Seems to me that CocoMutts can't handle poodle cuts. See other customer reviews.

Two stars only as the place seems clean and they followed our request for how we wanted our dog to get groomed. Sent our mini golden doodle (40lb) to get groomed here. He was there for over 4 hours and the young woman at the front told me he’d been done much earlier but they forgot to call/text me. While I was waiting for him to come out, she asked me to tip the groomer without seeing my dog first. Fast forward to when I took him home, I noticed that the area near his eyebrows had a scab above each brow on either side. He also wouldn’t stop licking his paw. Bear in mind, my dog has been getting groomed regularly since he was a pup and we’ve NEVER had any issues before. I suspect they didn’t forget to notify me but instead, kept him there longer than needed as he was probably bleeding (based on how the scabs looked). We were charged $105 plus tax for a full groom and when I inquired, I was told a bath + tidy would be $95 plus tax. That pricing doesn’t seem to compute given the differences between the two services. Nonetheless, we won’t be returning. $130 later (left a tip after being blatantly asked to) and I have a poor injured pup who has sore paws and cuts on his brow. Also, for the owner who likes to snarkily respond to negative reviews - I’d advise you take a second and actually express some empathy when you respond. Your customer service is greatly lacking based on what I’ve read on here. You should care about customers (old or new), especially when they are voicing concerns relating to their fur babies. PS. I could not take photos as my pup was visibly uncomfortable. Then again, I also wouldn’t take time out of my day to leave a negative review unless it was warranted. Verdict: Save your fur baby the distress and go elsewhere.

I took my toy poodle for the first time to coco mutts as our regular groomer was fully booked. We had heard good reviews of this place but I am now realizing that it was before it changed ownership. I was first shocked by the wait. We dropped our toy poodle at 9am and got a call at 1pm that he was ready for pick up. He was the first dog there I don’t see how it can take 4 cbeen more than 1 to 1.5 hours. I have a toddler and baby at home it was important for me to at least get an estimate of when I had to leave to pick him up and when I called to get an estimate it was not provided to me. I was just told over and over that full groom takes 2-4 hours and that’s all. It’s not a big place I don’t see how they can’t check with the groomers on the status of your dog? Upon pick up my dog was completely shaved. He had some weird bald spots. They shaved his eyebrows so he was having a hard time keeping eyes open due to the sun. He has one ear shorter than the other. It was an awful job. We called to ask what had happened and that we wanted to speak to the owner but we are yet to receive a call back from them. I am not expecting a refund nor would I ever go back. But the least that you can do is get back to your customers and provide some feedback. So disappointed and sorry that my dog had to go through 4 hours of that.

Today, Nov 12, 2020, I took one of my cats for their nail clipping. I have never had a problem before with the previous owner (even during the Covid19 crisis). Because it's very difficult to take my cats in a carrier (my cats hide), Coco Mutts have always accommodated me without an appointment. When I arrived today, the new owner, Dayna, started yelling at me when I tried to explain the arrangements I have always had. I became very upset and told Dayna due to Covid19, that I would wait in my car and leave my cat in the carrier with the Groomers. Dayna kept telling me I need an appointment and I tried again to explain the arrangements I have with the Groomers and have been doing this for over a year. Cindy, the Groomer, came out of the Grooming Area and she again tried to explain to Dayna the arrangement we have. Dayna finally agreed to allow Cindy to clip my cat's nails. If this is the manner in which the new owners of Coco Mutts greet their clients, I certainly will not return and will take my business elsewhere for my cats' monthly nail clipping and cat food.

Have been taking my toy poodle for grooming on a regular basis for several years.....loved, loved, loved our groomer. However, bought a Christmas gift (dog sweater) and was told by owner I could return it after Christmas. We were locked down after Christmas....figured they would be closed, when we opened up my daughter took the sweater to get a different size. Owner reluctantly allowed an exchange for a different size which still did not fit. It was not the size but the fit for the dog. My daughter called and was told it could exchanged for something else. When I brought it back, within a week, the owner refused saying it was too long after Christmas. I did not ask for a refund, just an exchange. This after I had paid a bill for over $200.....grooming and gifts for friends pups. I will miss Kelsey, it’s unfortunate that customers who are loyal to a local small business are treated this way.

Dayna and her crew at CocoMutts are incredible! I was struggling to find JWalkers in store in my area and Dayna advised I could purchase online and have them shipped to me. She spent a significant amount of time with me on the phone to ensure that I was ordering the product that I needed. Her dedication and caring was beyond what I've found in my local pet supply stores. 10/10 recommend calling and see what product she carries that fits your pet's needs. Thanks Dayna! EDIT - I LOVE that Dayna and CocoMutts support local rescues as well. This store is wonderful! Update - 04-02-2023 Called the store to pay for an order over the phone. Jessi was kind and pleasant throughout the call. Can't seem to beat the customer service here. :)

I only went there for a long time because of the groomer . Receptionist ( Owner) was always rude never friendly , don’t know how to engage their clients even just dropping off the dog . She seems like having bad day ALL THE TIME and cold . Their online booking was inaccurate always and never got what I asked for or a months plus after you requested. Also takes forever to get back to me . There are only a few groomers working . I wouldn’t suggest this place at all . Pet smart has much more availability never have to wait . People are friendly know how to email and have conversation with their clients with SMILES . It’s fortunate because of this person I left . I really liked Kelcy .

First and foremost, the staff at CocoMutts love the animals that they work with. Morgan is an absolute rockstar at hand stripping my 1 1/2 year old Border Terrier, ROXY. ROXY had a bit of an unfortunate situation with her undercoat being non-existent which resulted in a bald border. She absolutely did the right thing and immediately consulted with the master groomer who explained why this happened. She immediately called me to talk about it and had the master groomer explain to me. All worked out well. ROXY is doing great and her hair is growing in perfectly. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MORGAN! In a tough situation, she acted with love and kindness to my pup.

I took my puppy here for his first professional groom. He is a lab mixed with bernese but that only affects his size really. He was only there for a puppy bath and nails and they charged nearly $100 just for that. Simply because he was larger at close to 50lbs. when we got him back his nails were cut weird and left sharp. we have had his nails done more than once at our vet and they are always excellent and rounded off. He walks all over us because he is a puppy and now when he does it it hurts as the sharp nails dig into our skin and leave scratches and cuts on us. I took him there because i had heard good things but i will never go back.

We have been proud customers of CocoMutts for over 6 years now. However, we just found out that the company has new owners as Chantal has retired. We received an extremely rude call cancelling our upcoming appointment saying that they were not taking any new customers and that «we should leave room on our voicemail since they tried calling us multiple times and our mailbox was full». I'm sorry but if you cannot respect loyal customers and are now making us find a new groomer... that is flat out disrespectful and I used to praise cocomutts to all pet owners. Now I will direct people elsewhere. Extremely unprofessional.

Cocomutts is an incredible shop with caring and trusted staff. I have a 10 month old German Shepherd and from the time he was only 7 weeks old, I’ve relied on Dayna’s knowledge and expertise to help me with picking out the right food, toys, harnesses, etc and I’ve never been let down! I can’t thank Dayna and the lovely staff at this shop enough for always taking the time to answer all my questions, for having my pup’s food fully stocked and for helping me pick out the perfect items for my puppy. They have continuously put my mind at ease. I’m looking forward to your new location and visiting for many years to come!

This was the only place our dog would go willingly as she is very anxious so we were regulars for 3 years - shop changed ownership and booking method moved to online. We got an automated message from the shop saying they would not take new clients and zero response to additional inquiries via email trying to correct this as well as nobody answering the phone. It took us months to find another spot with a new groomer. Really not impressed. In spite of covid causing delays and backups - there is no excuse for letting basic communication and customer service suffer.

I’ve taken my pup Phoebe to get groomed by Morgan at Cocomutts twice and it’s been fantastic both times. Phoebe came out looking adorable and smelling delicious, and Morgan is great at communicating when she noticed a small bump on one of Phoebe’s paw pads which I never would have noticed myself (just to keep an eye on and mention to the vet next time she goes). The staff in the shop are very friendly and helpful, especially Rollie . Would recommend Cocomutts for grooming and shopping any time! We live in Kemptville and the drive to Stittsville is worth it.

Have been coming here for years for grooming and pet gifts. Ownership recently switched over and I won't be returning. Owner is very rude and doesn't appreciate long term clients. I work in vet med and have been recommending this place for years to clients looking for grooming or a pet boutique. Very much regret that now. It's very evident the owner does not care about customer service, only profit. The staff are great. I'll very much miss my dogs groomer but being disrespected and lied to by the owner after years of being a very loyal client is not ok to me.

Chantal and her staff are just wonderful. They make sure to take care of your pet while they are their tombe groomed . Your pet is in a safe environment until you arrive to picked them up . As for the grooming aspect you could not ask for better. They listen to what you like your pet to be groomed . They truly get to know your and your pet . In a more personal manner that when you call . They know exactly who you are and your pet. I would recommend this place to anyone. You can’t ask for better treatment then at Coco Mutts

Excellent Experience I am appalled by some of the 1 star reviews as they sound completely petty and I am sorry that people are that sad to try and ruin a small local business. My own personal review is about some shampoo I bought for my beagle. The lady was very nice and helpful on the phone and the small local business sold the same shampoo that a large pet box store sold. The difference is that Cocomutts sold it at a much better price and was very responsive with their curbside sale. Hands down I will be back!

It was my pleasure...in the past...to write a positive review...but...I guess all good things must come to an end!!! A sign on the front door indicated that the store was open at 8 for grooming. I had a 9:00 appt. After 10 minutes of staff ...looking at me...and still not opening the door...I came to the conclusion that my business was not worth it on this day. Life is busy...appointments should be kept...and customers should be treated with respect. In this case ...I guess I just wasn't worth it!

We don’t know what we would do without Coco mutts!!! In particular, Kelsey!!! Gizmo absolutely loves Kelsey and when we say "it’s time to go see Kelsey" he gets so excited. We have brought him to another groomer in the past due to a scheduling conflict and we couldn’t wait to go back to Coco mutts. They treat gizmo like one of their own and we know he is loved and well taken care of while he is there. I have booked appointments far in advance so that I never have to go anywhere ever again!!!

Chantel is so great with our golden. We used to have a 15 year old who loved going to visit. Chantel would always make sure she got the first appointment in the morning as she got stressed if there were too many dogs. My current 9 year old golden also loves going, and is obsessed with the bandanas she is given after. With Covid my pup hasn't been able to go in a while, but Chantel got her an appointment as soon as possible. We never have anything to worry about Chantel does an amazing job!

Our little girl is 15 and usually hates getting her hair and nails done. Coco Mutts was recommended to us by a lovely couple at Bruce Pit on day so we thought we’d give them a try. WOW. So happy with the quality of care and finished cut. Our girl was well behaved because she felt comfortable for a change at the groomers. I take my dog Nolah there every time I’m in Ottawa to get her nails clipped. She gets so nervous and pees or she barks at customers that won’t pet her lol. So she’s a handful! They are so good with her, they always stop what they are doing to make sure Nolah is comfortable and there is always 2 of them working on her to trim her nails. They are cheaper than most places for nail trims and service is outstanding.

By far the best grooming experience! I have taken both of my Labs to CocoMutts for grooming and I can’t say a single thing bad about them. The owner is always trying to fit us in when she can or emailing and calling for appointment reminders! Kelsey is a gem and such a kind soul and I have zero issue leaving my animal with her! I have been bringing our fur babies to CocoMutts for years now. They are a great local business that offers fantastic grooming services. I have huskies which require a LOT of brushing and they always leave there squeaky clean. Staff are super friendly and kind and there are lots of great treats and toys and everything possible pet related for in store shopping. Highly recommend!

My go-to groomer is Cindy and she is awesom. She is patient and very caring towards my dog Ginger and as a result the dog is happy to be there. Yes they are a little pricey but not knowing what their costs are I can’t comment on fairness. Everything is going up in price and owning pets is an expensive proposition. As long as Cindy remains at CocoMutts so will I. Paula

I have had been going to cocomutts for grooming for a few years now; an older dog and now a puppy. I could not be happier! The groomers are so lovely and professional, they 'get' my dogs and the grooming experience seems to always be a positive one for them. Plus they look FAB!! Highly recommend.

Found the staff (groomer) abrasive. When asked by another employee, " how much longer are you here?" Groomer replies "1/2 hour at most". I reply "do you not want my business? " She says "there other shops open too." See ya, I said Completely Mutts got my business and always will
