First time @ Ben & Florentine, it was AMAZING!! We decided to go out for Brunch as a little anniversary outing, I got the Ten on Ten, & my partner got the Italian sausage + siracha skillet! The food is delicious and priced fairly, portions are generous but not HUGE! They put enough hollandaise sauce to cover your entire plate. They seemed to struggle knowing how to make over medium eggs, but most places do. My eggs were over runny! I was not a huge fan of the super crispy bacon but I should have asked for it medium. My Partner said his Skillet was perfect! The atmosphere is very busy, given we went on a Sunday @ 11:30. Very packed space you have to squeeze between tables at some points, inadvertently touching other peoples tables as you walk past…I think they should lessen the amount of tables they have to allow for a more comfortable environment & to allow it not to be so loud. Service was quick & our server (and the host) was very kind, didn’t chitchat or try to upsell anything, he also left us alone and let us eat instead of continuously checking on us, which I appreciate. Ordered a side of cottage cheese and they give it to you is a little sauce container, definitely recommend they serve a little more of a side than that. Drink menu is limited, they don’t serve fountain drinks , only cans. Bottomless fountain drinks would be a bonus!

After seeing Ben & Florentine ranked so high everywhere online, I went there for my birthday brunch and I kid you not, it was the absolute best experience I've ever had in Winnipeg. Usually for restaurants, either the service is not the best or the food is not the yummiest, but at B&F both the food and the service were beyond expectations. Sneha (our server) was a delight. She made excellent recommendations and made our experience absolutely wonderful. If anyone wants to know what a 25% or higher tip service looks like, you should meet Sneha. The food was fresh, delicious and wholesome. The chef is clearly putting in a lot of effort in selecting the very best ingredients to curate such a delicious AND healthy menu. The portion sizes were great too, unlike some other restaurants with menus on similar price points. Anywho, this is probably the longest review I have ever written here, but if you're wondering whether or not you should go here, stop wondering. Go right away. You won't be disappointed. Thank you B&F team. Update - They continue to uphold the high standards of service that all other hospitality establishments will find hard to compete with. More power to the amazing team. Another update - Our server was absolutely amazing. Her name is Ally and she was a delight. I was super confused on what to order and she helped us. Thanks, Ally. We hope to see you again, soon.

This was our first time here and it was easily the best breakfast place we've tried in Winnipeg and maybe anywhere (we've traveled around the world). We enjoyed this more than The Original Pancake House and IHOP in Winnipeg. Also better than Denny's and Smitty's. We haven't tried other breakfast places in Winnipeg. TOPH and IHOP have this beat hugely in terms of atmosphere and decor, but not in food IMHO. Our server was very busy as someone had called in sick, but she was lovely and attentive. We were there during the Saturday breakfast rush (9am) but easily found seating for 4 and our food came out incredibly quick. My meal (the first picture) was sooooo delicious and unique. The Old-fashioned Ham & Cheese Curds Skillet. It was described as: "Shredded old-fashioned ham, mixed peppers, red onions and cheese curds. Covered with a mix of Hollandaise sauce and pure maple syrup." Ohhh it was good. Not remotely healthy but fun for every now and then. Our entire party thoroughly enjoyed their meals and we will return.

I loved this restaurant until today. My server, don’t even know his name because he didn’t introduce himself. He was basically silent the entire time I was there and I could barely hear him when he did say something. He was rude when he did talk and questioned every decision my friend and I made. I ordered a smoothie made with orange juice instead of yogurt because of an allergy and he had to ask a manager if that was allowed even though I’ve ordered that many times before. He brought me the smoothie that was actively separating into 3 layers… I think something was expired or a bad batch of some kind because the smoothie tasted like expired Kombucha. The food was delicious but the service was awful. When I was leaving, I over heard the manager talking about me behind my back saying “nothing could be expired, that juice doesn’t expire for another year.” I don’t know about anyone but that is the most disrespectful thing you could do in customer service. If you are going to talk bad about customers, at least wait until they are out of ear shot and don’t talk in front of other customers. Will NOT be back.

Ben and Florentine’s is one of my favourite restaurants for breakfast/brunch. It is consistently very good for both food and service. The menu offers a large variety of delicious options, but I usually order the avocado toast with crumbled bacon and goat cheese or Eggs Benedict. On my most recent visit I ordered the Eggs Benedict Florentine, and it was very tasty! As per usual, a generous portion size was served hot, and the server was friendly and attentive. Overall, a great dining experience as usual! As for the atmosphere, aesthetics are fine, but it is usually packed to capacity which can make for a rather loud dining experience. I’m willing to overlook that though because the quality of the food and service is so good!

We didn't have any reservations, but there are many seats available. Waited patiently as the servers were just looking at us, no one is approaching us while we wait so after a few minutes of waiting we walked to the nearest server to us and pointed to the table that we wanted to seat. After doing his finishing touches on the table... we are finally seated. It was our first time here, the food was amazing, our server end up being good as well but not the best first time great experience...overall I would still like to come back because of the food! love the food, that's for sure!

I will say my final order was - Descent. However My first order almost made me violently ill. I asked for the eggs with French toast with gluten free bread. The server brought out my order with regular wheat bread with a side of gluten free toast - I hadn’t realized the order came with toast and it didn’t dawn on the server to put the two together that I asked for gluten free bread because I was gluten intolerant / borderline celiac. When I questioned the potatoe hash browns she confirmed they had gluten on them AND THEN she pointed out that the French toast on my plate wasn’t gluten free either. Talk about a major near miss. We were there early, 7am, and there were less than ten other people in the restaurant at the time. I was disappointed with the service to say say the least. And I probably won’t be returning, nor will the party I dined with.

Nice and organized place, friendly and polite staff, fair prices. But their french toast is not really french toast. It was my first time experience there, ordered caramelized apple french toast and it was the worst meal I ever had as brunch in Winnipeg. Looked like they toss thick dry toasts in an overused oil (because of its smell) -not butter!- and the toasts were totally dry...I bet they have no egg, milk, butter in their french toast recipe...its only bread, bread crumbs, oil and sugar! my french toasts were covered with fried apples...apples were still very crunchy as you were having fresh fruit, however they were looking fully soft, they were not! this meal is not recommended at all if you want real french toast. I think for whoever prefer savory tastes, they still have lots of other options. Giving them 3 because their positive points.

I normally enjoy posting great reviews but unfortunately the service today was terrible. From waiting on coffee for too long to getting the wrong eggs... Asked them to bring me the correct eggs and my whole meal was taken away for 20 mins while my partner had hers... When I explained this to the manager she smirked at me and asked me if I want the whole meal remade after waiting 20 mins for them to bring it back to me cold and with a new set of eggs.... I explained that I didn't want to pay for this meal and she walked off... 10 mins later the waitress comes back and said the managers discussed this and are willing to give you 20% off ... The manager didn't even have enough respect to speak to me herself.... Anyways needles to say I won't be going back ... The food was always good here but this was a ridiculous experience

My good friend and I are regulars at B & F on Kenaston. We love this restaurant, however today we were extremely disappointed with the service from our server. Mingi, did not greet us, show any sort of interest or enthusiasm when speaking to us. I asked about substituting an item, and was met with “no”. He did not offer any alternative suggestions, just said no and stared. He did not check in with us after receiving our food (which was great, as it always is!), and we had to ask other servers for water refills due to his neglectful presence at our table. Quite disappointing as we love this restaurant and always leave feeling very taken care of.

food was acceptable for the price ($$), if a little under seasoned. however, the service was slow and erratic. coffee took extended periods to refill and catching anyone's attention was difficult. (this is even taking the normal weekend business into consideration, as the additional staff working had tunnel vision.) parking is also a hassle at this location, with limited spots and a cramped lot to search. perhaps I'll try again if the restaurant seems empty

As usual our server was great, the food was delicious, and we were seated very quickly. All the staff at Ben & Florentine are focused on providing their clients the best experience possible. 01 Aug 2023 I tried a different option for lunch today and it was as good as all the others that I have tried here. As always service was fantastic. 06 Dec 2023 Once again this is a fantastic place to eat lunch. I tried an entirely new lunch and it was as good as all the others that I've tried. Service again was as best as it can get. This is a great place.

My mom and her friend came to Ben and Florentines around 9:00am yesterday, ordered breakfast, ate, paid up and then stayed to chat a while longer. At around 11:40am a woman (maybe supervisor?) came up to her and her friend and asked them to leave as they are on a “2 hour rotation”. My mom said there were only 4 other families in the restaurant. I’ve served for 9 years and have never had the audacity to ask someone to leave BUT ESPECIALLY not when the restaurant is slow…. This is horrible customer service, and you’ve definitely lost some loyal customers over this…

Incredible eggs benedict! They have many different options to choose from. Their hollandaise sauce is spot on. Their BBQ version is slightly spicy with with meaty toppings. I wasn’t a huge fan of the goat cheese but it went well with the rest of the flavours. Their eggs Benedict also comes with a good portion of hash browns and fruit. I ordered a side of Crispy French Toast & Caramelized Apples which was very large. The topping was like apple pie filling with almonds. Very tasty… Their service great as well. Server was very attentive and polite. We also preferred a booth and appreciate how they made that happen. Will definitely be going back!

My friend and I came here for breakfast on a weekday. We arrived at 9:30 a.m. and were seated and served promptly. By 10 a.m. it started to get really busy so I would recommend going early if you don’t want to wait. They have an early bird menu on weekdays from 6-8:30 a.m. I ordered a coffee and the Brie & Blueberry French Toast. It was delicious. They have gluten free options for an additional charge. My bill came to $20 after tax. I would definitely recommend this place. Just be aware that if you go for a later breakfast you might have a bit of a wait.

I went for the first time today. I had read the reviews and was expecting to wait a while for my food and drinks. I was seated promptly, and our server greeted us right away. The food was hot and tasty (eggs done to perfection), service was polite and casual! Kyle was great at giving us time to look over the menu, and even came back to refill our coffees. I didn't feel rushed to leave after eating. Overall great experience and will definitely be back to try more things on the menu. The picture is of my "Two Egg Etc." And father in the back of the photo was my friends "Western Eggs Benedict" which she also enjoyed!

A busy breakfast place , have some nice combos , I can understand the wait time will be more. They need more staff to handle the weekend rush , if two of us are on a table , one gets their breakfast 15 minutes before the other . Presentation was great , the server was hassled , but friendly, so we did not lose our cool. All in all a good place for breakfast , though, not a relaxing one. Will come back on a weekday. My recommendation would be to try out the breakfast combos , that’s value for money.

The food is amazing here! I love the skillets and my daughter loves the egg benedict! I wish the atmosphere felt more local and represented the local people that it serves. I realize it is an international company but still think that they could do more to represent the local people they serve. If the food wasn't so good I wouldn't go back.

Food good, very similar to what you would get at Cora’s, however both times we had Kim as our server and I can honestly say she’s what made this truly 5 stars. Ordered takeout and my smoothie was warm, and disgusting would’ve been better off w a tims or dons smoothie, (not to mention they had to make my smoothie w orange juice and not pineapple which wasn’t a problem until I actually tasted it lol?) and they gave me this nasty orange on the side.. don’t go to kenaston. The one on regent is the way to go, never walked away unsatisfied there. Never coming back to the one on kenaston again.

My first time visiting Ben & Florentine on Kenaston. The service was awesome, the breakfast options varied and delicious, spacious and clean environment and very good covid measures in place. The only thing I would have liked was if my coffee was served in a tea mug that was warm because hot coffee in a cold mug makes your coffee cold before two sips. Prices for breakfast items range between $12.95 to 17.95 approximately.

I've never been to a Ben & Florentine before. I've always gone to Stella's or Cora's. It had to be the best breakfast I've had in a long time. I read some of the reviews and was doubtful but everything was very flavorful. Service was great! I have the BBQ Old Fashioned Skillet and i highly recommend it. I could of eaten 2 of them. A+++++ All the way! If you haven't tried it before, put it on top of your list.

I really enjoyed ben and florentine during my last stay in Winnipeg. The food was fantastic. I had the mexican skillet and not only was the portion massive it was really good. One thing I will say is the poor waitress was the only one on so the place was understaffed. Which is totally not her fault for drink refills to take some time. Still 5 starts because she went above and beyond.

Food was fantastic. Service was horrible. Our original sever was great, but then she was going home and we were to get another server. We want for early lunch, the service was great they seated us fast, the menu is beautiful and a lot of verity. The cappuccino wasn’t great, cold and very strong I asked for milk to make is better and they charged me for it. The other dishes were so good! Fresh and tasty. Our waiter was amazing. The only thing not a lot of variety for vegetarians.

The Poutine dish I had today should have been called a potato scramble as there were no fries, just fried cut potatoes with a medley of tasty ingredients. Tasty and very rich, but it was not poutine. The breakfast waffle and fruit was heavenly good. Great dish.

Went for breakfast at a busy time around 11;30am and was seated right away! Waitress was attentive and food was delicious! Big portions as well. So many appealing choices on the menu will def be back to try more!

Good experience! Food was delicious. We also had a nice service. Between me and my wife we paid $40. I think it was a reasonable price for the quantity and quality. It’s a place to go back for sure!

We got seats right away. Food was okay except for the salty fries. I expected more though but kudos for the nice menus. Service is a little slow. Server was not the greatest. Parking available.

Amazing high quality breakfast! Very inexpensive, especially for what you’re getting. Everything is fresh and wholesome. Highly recommended!! Double Black Jack (Pictured)

The food was hot. The hot chocolate was amazing! We came at peak time and had to wait. There were about 20 people waiting in line but only waited for about 20 minutes.

Food was great, server was friendly. Took 2 stars off because the service was very slow. Took almost an hour to get our breakfast and it wasn't busy at all

  • Danielle Nicholson

This was the best brunch I've had in a while! There was a bit of a wait to get a table, but the service and the food were great. I'll definitely be back.

Sorry for the half-eating picture I forgot to take a before one! Food and coffee were good, service was quick, will most likely be back soon! …

Great spot. The servers are always quick with the coffee refills, and their hashbrowns are consistently crunchy and never soggy like other places

Food is fresh and delicious. The only thing that could make it better is a liquor license for mimosas with their freshly squeezed juice!

My sister and I were not impressed by the cleanliness of the food we were serviced. (Both were on our cantaloupes and eggs).
