I normally do not post reviews as I feel if its a minor thing I normally just let it go but in this case I am posting it so that people dont have to experience what we experience at diner time when we showed up in this restaurant first of all my wife book the private room 3 weeks ahead and at that time of booking she ask clearly is there a minimum of people to be able to book the private room and they said no as long as you book and its available its yours so she proceeded to book she ask again is there a fee or deposit require they answered "no need for a deposit fee" so my wife went ahead and book the date and she told them about 6-10 people will come. We were so dissapointed that when we got there they ask us if we dont mind that they gave our private room to someone else because those people could use the private room and there are only 6 of us and they will puting us in the main dining area. I told her well we do mind it,since we book this already way ahead why tell us now when we got here , she said there is nothing they can do that the manager will talk to us about it. So my wife said ok well sit in the meantime. Since we are all hungry we all decided to just stay and wait maybe the manager has a good excuse for doing this and tell us. The whole entire time that we sat there no one came to apologize, no manager in site. We ended up ordering and our order took close to one hour as we time it. We will never go back with the poor service we got! The ribs we order are not cheap close to $30 a plate for this price youre better off to go to a place like Montanas or Famous dave you would have gotten better food and better service, never again you lost us as a customer and there were a few of us looking forward to enjoy our meal in the private room, but it was ruined that night as the main dining area was very small and loud and you could hear people talking so dissapointed we left there no one seemed to care for what they did!

Silver Heights restaurant, had never been here before and we were looking for a decent meal reasonably priced. Well Silver heights did not disappoint. Starting with mushrooms Neptune for appetizer, crispy on the outside a dab of sauce on top (?) Perfect temp with cream cheese on the inside, outstanding. Ordered beef ribs, if I go there 25 times I will order the beef ribs 24 times. Great flavor, tender and not dry at all. Sides were fries and veggies both cooked perfectly my guess is they change they're oil regularly for the fries. Wife had pork ribs, not sloppy, meaty and delicious. Baked potato was hot and fluffy. Our server MacKenzie was cheerful, welcoming and informative. Overall could not ask for a better server. Chef came out and asked us about our experience so far, we both gave 2 thumbs up. Conclusion: we've found our regular go to restaurant and will be recommending to friends. Will give reviews as we order other meals.

An old-school beef meat place. If you're old enough to remember when "steak houses" were a thing you'll feel right at home. If you're not, this place will make you wish you were sixty so you could have the memory of simple, generously-proportioned food served by smiling staff. We had the ribs - bravely advertised as "the best ribs in town" - and were not disappointed. Our small sample size precludes confirming they're the best ribs in Winnipeg, but brothers and sisters, they were EXCELLENT ribs - tangy, fall off the bone masterpiece work. Lots of flavour, lots of volume. Ribs are very rich. Lots of tasty fat. A few ribs are a LOT of ribs. Show up hungry, don't fill up on the buns, and when the ribs show up tuck in like Fred Flintstone and go HARD. Well worth the money. Vegetarian options are, ha ha, ha HA HA HA HA "limited". If you came to a rib place for the salads, you done messed up. :)

First time diners today and can't wait to come back. The ceasar salad was fresh and probably one of the best I've had. Had to order another starter size just for the taste! We ordered the Chefs Haddock, which came with ceasar salad to start and fries. The fries and fish are exactly what you want. Hot, crispy, and delicious . We also shared an order of the "Cray Cravings" loaded French fries. Highly recommend! They were loaded with cheese curds, diced chicken fingers & pickles, and honey dill. I believe there was some kind of signature gravy and seasoning as well. Server was warm and friendly and our food came quite fast, although it was 330 in the afternoon which probably helped. Restaurant was very clean. Will definitely be back soon to try the ribs!

I've been to Silver Heights many times, food great, service great, entertainment great. But part of last night's visit was quite off-putting and we walked out. We were in the lounge for a drink, went over to the restaurant, had a great meal, spent almost $100...then we were going to go back to lounge to say "hi" to the band, The Biivvers (great band, I've played with them a few times), but the "Security" guard wouldn't let us back into the lounge without $5 each...I told him we were already in the lounge and we just spent $100 in the restaurant..he wanted $5 each. I only had one $5 bill on me, he wanted 2 x $5. We walked out. Very disappointing.

Our party was 13 of us! Paid $40 for a 10 oz Steak, maybe 7 ounces! Potato was baked but had to wait way to long to get sour cream and butter! Potato was warm when I finally did get it! The Cesar salad was so small. I first thought it was a joke! I’m not even five bytes of salad and croutons were rockhard. I saw no value in this meal, there is no way there was maybe $8 dollars of food cost but the charge $40 dollars for it! Not going back! And yes other meals were not good also! So it’s just not me! It’s to bad because I thought it was going to be a great night out with all of my family!!

Wonderful two for Tuesday and Now two for Thursday Two meals for the price of one. A good selection. Just the right amount of food. Free popcorn in the lounge. Nice bar. Everyone should come here at least once. Appears to be alot of regulars. Good crowds to watch the big screens. Worth the trip. Great food. Aside from the two for one special, they always have other fantastic specials. On Feb 24 went for a meet and greet with the Hunter Brothers.. Great atmosphere.. great food... exceptional service. Thanks QX104 for the free tickets..

I joined my friends for an evening at the lounge, where we were greeted by an exceptional waitress. The ambiance transported me to a charming European bar, enhancing the overall experience. While the menu boasted an extensive selection, I found the prices to be slightly higher than my personal preference. Opting for the prime rib, I discovered that it fell short of the high standards I typically associate with renowned establishments like The Keg. This aspect was somewhat disappointing, particularly considering the comparable prices. However, I must emphasize that a lower price point would have greatly contributed to my overall satisfaction.

Ate in the bar side on a Saturday night they were definitely not staffed properly, the server forgot my salad (Greek) showed up 15 minutes later I was almost done with a wilted Caesar salad and was not at all apologetic. I had to go up to the bar for refill on my drink. The bill was over $20 for a dry burger I am celiac so the just put it on the plate no garnish not lettuce wrapped no discount for the horrible service! Went to the drive thru after our event because I was starving! I won’t be going back there any time soon! Terrible food terrible service nothing like it has been in the past and because of the good experiences in the past is the only reason I didn’t give them 1 star.

Had a couple of appies, the Memphis ribs and the Dawn Poutine. Ribs slid nicely off the bone, were tender and had a delicious rub. There was a side of their BBQ sauce, but totally unnecessary. The garlic toast on the side was a little flaccid, but good strong garlic flavour. The Dawn Poutine had an egg, bacon, cheddar and hollandaise smothered over their thickly cut fries. I was concerned the fries were too big and would just come across as a smothered potato, but they were grilled nicely, and were delicious under all the accoutrements. Service was a little slow and the portion of the ribs (not the poutine - it was huge) was a little small. Otherwise rock solid.

  • Jim Crighton

If the taste and quality of the food was all this place had to go on, they would have had to close their doors years ago. Food was bland, for all 4 of us. The Caesar salad was romaine and bottled dressing and dried bread for croutons, no parmesan, no onion. I had a full rack of ribs, barely warm, not seasoned at all, and it seems they must have been boiled first as they were beyond tender, they were mushy. For $150. with 1 coke only, horrible. The baked potato was very good, and our server was excellent. But YUK!

I have been going here for years and the food has always stayed consistently good. The wings are the best in town especially the double dipped. I have never had a bad experience here with any of the staff or other patrons. When I go sit in the lounge the staff are always so friendly, fast and attentive. The owners take the time to personally come around and ask how everything is and to just chat and see how you are. They treat their regulars like friends not like customers and that, along with the amazing food is what keeps me coming back. If you are looking for a full dinner, or even just a quick lounge snack this place has it all and more.

What a disappointment. I haven't been to the Silver Heights in years, but when my friend suggested going out for ribs, we checked some reviews and decided to support local. When we arrived, it was not a busy night with just a few tables occupied. First let me say that the ribs were very tender and the meat slid right off the bone, but nothing was hot. Everything was just kind of warm. For $40, I would hope my meal would be served hot. Where was the "Height's Famous Barbeque" sauce? A smear at best. The broccoli was raw and the baked potato was far too firm. Such a disappointment.

I had the Chicken , prawn , scallops plate . Well I thought the holindae sauce went on the asparagus nope it goes on the chicken the scallops and the shrimp. I only got 2 asparagus . Holindae sauce was curdled. Fresh veggies were frozen, soggy mess . This has to be one of the most unappetizing horrible dinner I have ever seen. Waitress pushed us in and out of the restaurant when we were trying to enjoy our evening. The only thing good was the Cesar salad I will never return. I did not want to make a scene but it was a waste of hard earned money.

We had a large party of roughly 15 people. Service was extremely slow despite the restaurant not being terribly busy. The menu is shockingly overpriced and the food is bland, bordering on what a food snob might label anemic. They added an automatic gratuity of 15% onto everybody's bill because of the large party size, and while I understand that restaurants do this, I do not agree with the practice. I definitely don't agree with it when the service and food is mediocre at best. If you want to pay Keg prices for diner level food or take your 90 year old grandparents for a safe, bland meal, then this is the place for you.

  • Donald Tang

Great food. Excellent service. Good vibes. Both French Onion Soup and Clam Chowder are exceptional! Beef ribs is a bit spicy but tastes great. Kid menu offers lots of choices, and we particularly like the pasta – a bit under-seasoned for adults, but just right for kids or toddlers. The creamy crab dip with crostini (forgot the official name on menu) was a bit salty, but is still fine. Overall a great dining experience. Will definitely go again.

We stumbled across this place while visiting for a hockey tournament. Started with ordering the ribs for takeout, testing if they really are the best in town. They are as advertised! The whisky maple and Greek were the two favs. We ended up hitting the bar for some drinks thru the weekend and all the staff and owners made us feel like locals. Very safe and has a small town atmosphere in the lounge. Parking in back was easy. We will be back!

Silver Heights does it again!! What a fabulous place. My friend and I had a lovely, relaxed dinner. Our server engaged with us, was attentive without hovering. The Cesar salad was fresh and crisp with just the right amount of dressing. The huge serving of 3 beef ribs was amazing. Roasted veggies and baked potato rounded out the entre. I had to ask for a box to take home the leftovers. Hubs enjoyed the (cold) leftovers for his lunch. It is worth the effort to visit Silver Heights!

Tony and his family run an incredible restaurant and have managed the challenges caused by COVID-19 to the highest of Standards! Our family randomly chose this spot to dine recently and it has quickly become a family favourite. We were treated with incredible respect, fantastic conversation from the owner and staff, and ate incredible quality food. This restaurant would seem like a family diner style of eatery, although I'd say it is far more than that. The incredible hospitality only adds to the quality of food and service provided! Keep it up SHR!

  • Barry Watt

Had pick up and got the full beef ribs, and I must say, the baked potato was cooked well, the veggies were good, and the beef portion was also good. Salad was fresh o go, not huge, but definitely not cheap on portion. I eat a lot, so I actually started getting full, and had to finish the last rib later. All in all, I really felt happy about the food and look forward to it again. Thanks.

First of all, it was our server who really made our experience great! She was super friendly and made wonderful suggestions to us. The food was perfect in every way (steak done perfectly rare and chicken not over cooked) and wonderfully tasty! The only thing that I found unpleasant was the amount of grease used in the vegetables of the day. My veggies were crunchy but greasy and I didn't enjoy that at all, but I really enjoyed everything else very much.

First time ordering food from Silver Heights Restaurant and it was absolutely amazing! We wanted to try new appetizers so we ordered the sweet chili cauliflower & the Buffalo chicken dip. Mind blown. Still drooling lol our main course was the Millionaire cut 10oz NY strip. We've been craving steak for so long and this made our evening. Absolutely amazing food and great customer service as well. I'd highly recommend going here. Also you must try their Cesar salad. 10/10!

We had a family launch gathering of fifteen people at the Silver Heights Restaurant. We were provided with a private dining room to make for a very nice family gathering after my mother’s Funeral. The service was very good with an equally satisfying lunch served to everyone. We also had the pleasure of being served by a fourth generation family member of the original family owners.

The surroudings were very nice and clean. Service time and meal delivery was very good. However, my request for a Senior meal did not happen even though I pointed to it on the menu. I was given a regular meal of the same items. My bill when it came was not what I expected as the Senior meal is less money. We mentioned it to the waitress but she offered up nothing in response other than stating that she was not aware of this. We pay the bill and left a tip even though we went away with mixed feelings.

Have gotten take out from here twice, and it has been some of the best food that we have got for pickup off of skip the dishes out of the many restaurants we have tried. It's unfortunate that they are receiving many poor reviews for simply following covid protocols. The low ratings for this restaurant on various apps don't reflect the actual quality of the food. So keep that in mind if you are thrown off by the rating. Great restaurant, and hopefully people stop trying to bomb the ratings. Cheers!

Enjoyed a delicious turkey club for lunch this afternoon at the iconic site on Portage Avenue. Sure the premises might need a bit of lipstick but the food and service made up for any cosmetic opportunities. Reasonable prices and a good selection of items to choose from. They do have daily specials. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but a fair amount of street parking in the area.

We went to silver heights for a client lunch meeting a while ago and I was very impressed by the quality and quantity of food we were given for such an inexpensive price. I had the mexican burger and it was extremely good. We also had a few beers each and the bill was not even one hundred dollars. You can tell it's a neighborhood spot and that it's been there for a while but I was very impressed. Will definitely be going back in the near future.

  • Gladys Hanson

Well I was disappointed with my order. Their version of a beef dip. Beef was chewy and grisly. I did not complain which I would of. But I was hungry. The server was not very attentive. Plus she was going to take my plate without asking if I was done. I told her I wasn't done. As a server myself, I would always ask before removing a plate. I love this place. I really thought the beef would be excellent. My salad was very good. I will return....

Unfortunately I have to give a 2 star rating. Quality seems to go down every time I eat here. Could be related to pandemic issues, but not sure. Our server seemed preoccupied and wasn't as "on the ball" as she probably could have been. Only time she seemed pleasant and approachable was when I was paying the bill. Sorry Silver Heights, I hope you can get back to where you used to be, but my family and I will not be returning again.

The food is mediocre. The staff is rude. A certain kind of clientele frequent here. Mostly overweight, uptight, unremarkable people who are so brainwashed by the gov't that they according to the owner himself , couldn't wait to show their "Vaccine" passport" to get into the restaurant. The biggest con job pulled on the sheep. Winnipeg people are an embarrassment on the world stage. Plenty of other restaurants in the area.

The Heights has been a family favourite of ours for many generations! It’s like The Cheers of St.James! The ribs they serve are dynamite. No fork and knife needed. One bite and the juicy goodness slides right off. Tony & J.C and their families are fantastic members of the community and have always been and always will be! Be sure to stop in the next time you are passing by. They truly appreciate your support and kindness

Visited this place yesterday. Sat in the patio section. I waited 20 min for a menu, girl finally comes and brings me an appetizer menu so I ask for a full menu and never saw her again. after another 20 minutes we left. I guess this place is just rolling in money and business that they don't give any attention to a customer. This was my first time ever visiting this place and will be my last. Horrible service!

I went here for a Christmas party held by my workplace. Great atmosphere, great food, and great selection of drinks! What took away a star for me was when the servers asked us to order for dessert, but didn't relay to us that it wasn't included in the overall bill of the party and we had to pay out of pocket for it, and the servers forgot my table existed so we received our food late. Good place, nonetheless.

  • manish kumar

This is the second time we went in the food was cold had to send back the beef ribs had barely any meat on them the toppings for baked potato came too late and the drink cesar tasted watered down, all over very poor experience, where as first time we were there we left very happy with the food quality.

We ordered our favourite ribs for dinner on Thursday. Silver Height has the best ribs in the city, in our opinion. We also ordered the shrimp and scallop marguerita appetizer (yummy!) and the chocolate brownie for dessert. As usual, everything was great! And ready for pick-up right when they said it would be. This is a great family-run restaurant and a St. James icon. All the love, Toni and company.

This is a cherished neighbourhood establishment with something for everyone. Fine dining and a casual vibe in the lounge and the ability to host private parties. Their ribs are my favourite. And you can always find friendly employees and customers in the lounge. (Poor reviews based on following health mandates are not helpful. Small businesses are struggling and now is the time to support them.)

Our family LOVES The Heights! The food is always amazing and the staff are always so wonderful and cheerful! The atmosphere is the best! Its so cozy and inviting! Especially during jets games or other sporting events! They go out of their way to give their customers a great experience all around. Food is so good, portions are generous and its so affordable. Silver Heights is a local treasure. My wife and I have dined there often. Their ribs are awesome, some of the best in the city. Service is always great, and it's reassuring to me that they've always taken health and safety during covid very seriously. The owners have supported the neighborhood of St James for years and deserve support back during this tough time for restaurants.

The food was good. The service was not bad at all, but they only seemed to have 2 servers, so they did their best with almost a full house. The draft beer was flat. Most importantly I don't recommend sitting on the patio on a Saturday night, the noise from the traffic is insane at times, you can't even talk.

Skin on the underside of the ribs was not removed. Very very fatty cuts of meat, and the Bbq sauce had a strong vinegar taste to it. I have my suspicions that it’s Kraft bbq sauce they are using. Unacceptable not to remove skin from ribs. Should be common sense in any kitchen. Mediocre at best.

I went to the Heights today for Le Burger Week to try the Achy Brekky Heart and it was SPECTACULAR. The Apple Fritter bun worked so well, adding some amazingly unique flavour. The service is always top notch - I've never had anything but a great time there, and look forward to my next visit. A wonderful family-owned Winnipeg institution!

On suggestion from a friend met here for lunch. Dining room is spaciousness. I had the shaved beef on yorkshire ...delectable & lots of meat plus added a side salad to start. Very filling ... Lol, ended up being my supper as well. Great choice to eat here!

Awesome meal and service. Restaurant was very busy, food still came out in a reasonable time and was as expected, perfect! If you have never been to this restaurant, you need to check it. Thanks for the great meal and service at very competitive pricing.

We went on wings nite and were very disappointed, the wings are small and are no better than the pre-packaged frozen that you buy from the store. If you like your wings.. this is not the place to go.

Love this restaurant. It’s a shame it’s being targeted by anti-maskers who review it solely on the reality they can’t get in because they don’t meet the required legal provincial mandates. It’s like kids wanting to take their ball and go home! Food is good, staff wonderful, and service is great. Definitely recommend!

Family style restaurant with pleasant staff. Went on the 29th: Once a month they have .29 cent wings. Wings were small (to be expected) but great! For the special you can only get a choice of 6 different flavours instead of their whole menu. No problem as I understand the kitchen would get super backed up otherwise!

Probably one of the most disappointing dinners for Grey Cup festivities in Wpg. Had $25 set steak and potatoes dinner. Meat was size of my thumb and only option was fries or onion rings and was charged full price to change side to onion rings. Very sad meal and will not return.

This Restaurant was so AMAZING!! Great food, The best service I've ever had with my family, they go beyond any expectations and my children loved every minute. The Owner is such a nice person and clearly knows how to treat people! Thank you for such a great time! First time visit but definitely not the last!

  • Reid Kachmar

Best ribs in town, super friendly staff and good prices. Would have been a 5/5 but the soups ( I have tried the French Onion, Borcht Soup and Potato Dill ) all have an overpowering amount of pepper in them. It's honestly the only time I've seen pepper in french onion soup.

Very disappointed. Ordered a steak medium well, the steak is dripping red on the plate. Not sure what the chef was thinking .sent it back. Second try was better. Prime rib was tough, we were on the list for the lounge and were some how forgot drinks and coffee were very good. Will pass on this place. .

Awesome food, awesome service and the Manhattan was on point! Erica was a great server! If you haven't eaten here? Go eat here. The ribs will are incredible! Steak is always done to perfection (medium rare always ends up medium well ) and homemade soups n sauces on everything. Highly recommend! …

I can not say enough about the food and service I received at this establishment. Waitress (Shelby) was attentive, friendly , funny and most importantly never left me with an empty glass. Clubhouse was the best I have had in the city. What a great place to watch the Jets game will defiantly be back.

Dinner out at Silver Heights Restaurant tonight, my beautiful date, great wings!!! great service and the boys had a blast coloring the placemats. Tony Siwicki and his family have been serving Winnipeg the best since 1957... there's a reason theyre still here. Highly recommend them. …

Went here for the first time. It was our 33rd Wedding Anniversary and wanted to support local when we dined out. So glad we chose this place. The atmosphere was fantastic and so was the food. I had the millionaire steak and lobster and was not disappointed. Will absolutely be going back.

  • Devan Robert

Was absolute perfection I got the Longhorn Steak with rice and vegetables. It was so good I said to my gf that if I had to choose a last meal that would be it. Absolutely amazing. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Great meal by far. FANTASTIC will definitely highly recommend.

The food was very good, and the dishes seemed unique. If you sit at the restaurant you can still order from the lounge menu, which has wings in interesting flavors. I reccomend the paparazzi burger.

Always great food, good value and awesome staff! It doesn't matter if you are in the restaurant or the lounge, you always have a great time at The Heights! ...just writing this is making me want to go for wings, Guess I know what I'm doing for dinner!!

  • Robin Mondor

It was amazing! Staff were extremely accommodating and upbeat! I ordered the chicken fettuccine alfredo and usually I can eat what ever I order. There was so much food, I couldn't finish it! This was my first time there and I am sold.. I will be back!

Amazing St. James staple. Great food, great people, great drinks! Wheather its bar night with buddies or dinner with the family, you gotta hit up the Heights! Very happy to support this restaurant who values their staff and patrons safety and health!

Silver Heights has some of the B E S T ribs in this city! Really appreciate the staff working through rough times. Dining in made me feel safe as they are following MANDATED orders. Could not recommend this restaurant enough if you are in the area!

  • Kent Maurstad

Great atmosphere! You know you’re always going to be taken care of by the staff! And do yourself a favour and try the Caesar! Great stop for wings and a beer! Known for their ribs but the prime rib is amazing too! …yes, I’ve had a few meals here.

Our server was friendly, and our group of 7 coming from a teambuilding event all enjoyed our meals. The ribs were fall off the bone tender, and the owner stopped by to say hello as well. You can tell why this place just celebrated 65yrs open.

We had BBQ ribs that was deep fried!!! & fish & chips which the batter was so thick that the fish was lost. The place is old & seems to have their own regular customers. Excellent service. I don't think I'll go back.
