"This is the only Safeway I will go to"
"Worst grocery store ever"
"Love shopping at this Safeway it's right at 56th and Westfield Boulevard it's like a little town in that area not far from Broad Ripple it's a little bit pricey but I no longer have a neighborhood store in my area so it's just five more minutes from where I live! It's never really crowded and it's very clean! They also sell prepared foods like chicken fish and very various side dishes, the mac & cheese is creamy and cheesy! I've also tried the chicken and its really good, you can also order buy bulk when you're having an event as well"
"A little over-priced, but the ladies who work there in the evenings couldn't be more lovely"
"Perhaps because I was looking for the Safeway chain store, but this place was pretty bad"
This is the only Safeway I will go to. But today, the young rude lady in the deli really needs to be let go. When I first walked up to the deli she was arguing with the manager because I guess another customer had complained on her. My mom was attempting to get some chicken, asked my father did he want some and she instantly stated "we don't have any more chicken and that chicken is for another customer". Not giving my mother the opportunity to asked for the full basket of drumettes they had that i had just purchased. So my mother kindly walked away but I wasn't having it. If you are tired of frying chicken and slicing bologna go get another job not dealing with the public. Of course management wasn't worth much because she had already balled him out before hand. I have a friend that stay around the corner and visit the store often and knew exactly who I was talking about. I like to know how does she still have a job Safeway???
Worst grocery store ever. Over priced, horrible selection of food. Ghetto looking with weird people around. I cant understand how this place exists around half million dollar homes and hasn't been remodeled and revamped to meet the extreme demand of a quality grocery in this space.I love small mom-and-pop stores but I would much rather have Kroger or marsh in that space. Absolutely perfect location for a high-end grocery store. But this place is far from high-end, but still tries to charge a high-end price. Save yourself the frustration and go to the new marsh downtown or Kroger. Can we please have Marcus Lemonis from The Profit come help this crappy grocery store! haha

A little over-priced, but the ladies who work there in the evenings couldn't be more lovely. So helpful and polite. It's worth the extra money for the convenience of a store in the neighborhood with that real hometown feel. Valerie couldn't be sweeter if she was made of sugar. Definitely makes it worth coming in. Her kind words have gotten me through some hard times, I hope she knows how much she's appreciated in the community.
Perhaps because I was looking for the Safeway chain store, but this place was pretty bad. :( Prices were really high, prices poorly marked, and the selection was pretty sparse. I thought I was going to a Safeway, like the actual chain store. Had I known this was a little neighborhood corner store, I would have gone somewhere else. If this is part of that chain, they should change their Google description to not be misleading.
It's amazing how much they pack into this little neighborhood grocery store. Yet it doesn't feel tight. Great produce, meats, frozen and dairy. Excellent pet food selection. And a pretty good wine selection too. You can do all your shopping here, but be prepared to pay for the convenience of not having to leave Butler Tarkington. Grocery prices are high, but you can't beat location, convenience and friendly people.
Glad that they updated their POS system. Safeway is a little bit expensive compared to other stores. But this location is very convenient for me, so I regularly stopped there on my way from work, to buy things that I need. It is located across several other stores I shop at: Starbucks, CVS, a big liquor store, Kincaid meat market, and Byrne's pizza. Close to public transportation, gas station, and Chase bank.
When I went to the Deli, the lady working the Deli was very Rude. I asked for some Mustard Potato salad, she said you don't want the prepacked stuff do you? I did not see any in the prepacked. She just blew up at me for no reason. She was yelling at me with no mask covering her face. I really did not like how she was treating me. I haven't been back to this store since.
They are convenient, friendly, clean and well stocked. A surprising number of unusual grocery items not found in big chains (an heir to Atlas) so save yourself the hassle of "Kroger or Marsh downtown". While some items are pricier, many very good bargains are found weekly. Good meat department and the BEST fried chicken ANYWEHRE, EVER.
I used to work here, growing up. A truly unique neighborhood grocer who offers high end products as well as meeting the needs of all surrounding neighbors. A fine quality meat selection and worth taking a look at this week's sale. Now I shop here when I'm on the north side, when I want craft beer and party snacks.
Small grocery store with prices that seem a bit high to me. I will still run in here if I need something quickly but it isn’t my first choice of grocery. They staff has been friendly when I come in. Isn’t great for vegan or gluten free items. They make fried chicken in the store that everyone says is very good.
I live in the neighborhood and appreciate the convenience of having a grocery store so close. Unfortunately, most items are very overpriced, but most importantly, I can no longer trust that the food is fresh. I bought very moldy cheese and crackers with a hole from mice. I will never go back!!! Beware!
Convenient location to the Butler Tarkington area, but it is way overpriced and has a small selection. I go there when I need something for a recipe I'm already in the middle of preparing, otherwise I'd advise to spend the time and gas for a trip to Kroger. You'll more than make up for it in savings.
Mostly they're overpriced but I did find my Bai drink on sale and I'd look three different places to find it. Staff is always very friendly and they always have been. They are at a convenient location and since there are fewer groceries than there used to be that's a plus.
Lots of junk food but not a well stocked meat counter. Pulls the wool over your eyes the way they package their meat section. Bought chicken breasts on sale. I thought I had whole breasts but they had cut them in half. I will NEVER buy meat from that chain again.
Clean , friendly, neighborhood store. Its got great prices on meat. Everything else is extremely high in price, but as for meat and mostly chicken the prices are good. Not much of a Deli, no bakery, so not great for doing major grocery shopping.$$$$$$
Very overpriced. If you just need to grab something, its convenient but I would never do my main grocery shopping here. Prices on most items are almost double of other stores. Probably because there are not many grocery store options in the area.
we live really close to this grocery store, and were initially going here if we needed something quick for a recipe or just needed to grab some milk/bread/etc ...we quickly stopped doing that. the prices here, even for something as simple
I'm so glad to have a small, neighborhood grocery. Surprising variety of products. 9 times out 10 I can find what I'm looking for. Today it was frozen lima beans, fresh parsley and cottage cheese - the makings of a weird dinner, I know!!
Very sad to be writing this, but last night I was hungry for a rotisserie chicken from Safeway at 56th. We had one last month and it was very tender, and juicy. So I grabbed one from the warmer (around 4pm) and brought it home.
I love this Safeway! Friendly staff, clean store, convenient, and awesome variety of local and specialy items to choose from. Should probably keep this a secret......but props to Safeway for their fried chicken!!!
I love this. It’s hard to find a small grocery that isn’t part of a mega chain. People are always friendly. Shelves are stocked. Selection is limited and the prices are a little higher. Best chicken in town!
Grocery stores are too big these days. This one is just the right size, with lots of fun finds in the seasoning and jelly aisles. They also have a deli in the back that makes the whole store smell delicious.
This is probably their top location in the area. Our families top grocery store for all of our food needs. Very friendly and helpful. Great produce and meats. Overall they can meet all of our food needs.
We love shopping for our meat here. The location is a convenience for us and their prices on the meat is great. Honestly we get can goods & veggies elsewhere. Customer service is plesant as well.
This was the third time I purchased rotten food from them. Brauts with mold on the bottom, Imitation crab that was over a month past expiration, and just look at the produce. Will never go again.
This is a great neighborhood market. Well-stocked with anything we might need. Staff is helpful and courteous--stable with many veterans who have been there for years. A real gem of a store!
I wish they renovate or change soon. We need a better grocery in this neighborhood. The place is old, expensive. Not many organics. The only thing I like is the employee there are friendly.
Good area, I found all that I needed and there is a good quality meats, packaged nicely and it looks fresh, the lines move pretty fast and both cashier were nice. It was worth my visit
Bad attitude employees. They only want to wait on white people. (Butler people). The woman in the back was touching the chicken with her bare hands no gloves. Unsanitary …
A bit more expensive to shop at but nevertheless a wonderful quiet experience. Quality foods and products/produce. Great service and staff. Looking forward to my next visit.
I love the safeway, it is pretty small, but they actually seem to have everything I want every time I go there. Everything looks fresh, I'm always pleased with the selection
Spent 13.00 on a pork loin to only find out the pork was spoiled. The smell was outrageous. Took it back to the store to get it replaced and found out they had all expired.
Fiance shopped here one time. She was harassed by some younger male employees. Cat called and belittled. Contacted better business Bureau. Hope All Is Rectified. 8/26/16.
Best Meat in INDY the only reason I go to that store is for the meat selections! The staff is rude rethinking shopping at this location Good meat tho. …
Very convenient having Safeway nearby. The staff are very friendly. Always fun to have a conservation with Jerry at the deli counter and get some hot food to go!
I like the store just fine, but the girl wearing the pink hoodie with red hair was so rude. 04/10/2093 @5:15pm She kind of ruined the experience for me. …
Bright lights, many of the Atlas Grocery items not carried by others, lots of flavored seltzer water, organic milk, etc. And, Ivory Snow liquid laundry soap!
16 dollars for a rabbit. Com' on man. Meat man has got to do a better job at cutting the tips from the st Louis style ribs. Too many bone fragments remain.
I like this store. It's well stocked and clean. I like the produce. I especially like the size. I'm not overwhelmed. The employees are very friendly.
Best chicken prices. Fried chicken from deli is fantastic. Order for large parties. Typical small store prices for every thing else. Love the staff.
CASHIERS WERE VERY NICE ITS CLEAN AND IT WAS EASY TO FIND WHAT YOU WANTED PLUS THEY HAVE A DELEEY WITH FREASH FOODS YOU DON'T HAVE TO PREPARE.
I appreciate having a small grocery in the neighborhood. If I only need milk and bread, I do not have to stand in line for 30 minutes or more.
Small, very personal, neighborhood grocery. Friendly staff. Wonderfully accommodating. Good selection of staples and some special diet items.
Found the Neckbones I was looking for. They seem to always have ones that actually have meat on them. Unlike other stores. Thank you Safeway!
It's a small, charming local grocery store with very helpful staff and nice selection of goods that you can't always find in the big chains.
This Safeway on 56th and Illinois is always clean prices are high but it's very convenient. They also carry items no other store has.
Neighborhood store. Good fried chicken and good for picking up things to avoid the larger stores, but prices reflect the convenience.
Cool store nice employees but some of the prices are to expensive ... Like paying $8 for toilet paper that cost $5 at family dollar
The best Safeway in town. The prices are one of kind, kinda on the pricey side but it's convenient and the hot food is awesome!
I do not understand Safeway. Some of these items are bargain brand quality but are priced higher than name brand at Meijer.
.Great place to shop customer service is excellent store very clean socal distance is well handle friendly place to shop.
I go to Safeway once a week and the staff are very polite and helpful!! I enjoy shopping in the smaller grocery store!
Excellent neighborhood grocery store, with enough of a selection you wont be left wanting. It is however a bit pricy.
I live on a food dessert. Some times meat is smelly for the price and I have got I'll .but I have no where else to go
It's a good store, a little over priced and close by. I only go here IF I can't make it to my regular super market.
It's conveniently located and is your go to store after you can't find things from your favorite frequent stores.
I was looking for a KingsIsle card for my son, but unfortunately they didn't have it here, they were really nice
They have some really good fried chicken at the back near the deli. Good eats come in the most unlikely places.
Overpriced, however, convenient for a few small things I might need when I don't feel like driving to meijer.
Speedy check out. That's why I love coming here I get in and out fast. And the fried chicken is soooooo good
I was in need of some Neapolitan Ice cream and grabbed some from Safeway! Nancy is always awesome …
Great convenient neighborhood store, so much better than ALWAYS having to take a long drive to a Big chain
Nice small grocery store with a full service meat shop. Need a special cut , ask they'll take care of you
Very pleasant staff...and I noticed how neat the stock was placed so a person can quickly make a choice.
Ritchy Rich, you have to be to afford these prices. It's clean though and the employees are nice enough.
It’s so good to have a neighborhood grocery. We all should support this place to keep a place close.
They use old oil to cook chicken. Needs to be changed more often. Had to throw recent purchase away.
Good local neighborhood grocery store. Clean, has most items needed for home for cooking or drinks.
Warm and friendly. Good fried chicken. Good place to get small amounts of groceries and quick stuff
Clean and very well stocked. Employees were very professional and courteous. Such a great place!
The employees here have a great dedication do their job. Extremely friendly and good service.
Love the food in the deli store products kind of high but good for quick in and out shopping
A little pricey on certain items I guess take up for low meat prices very clean well stocked
Great place to grab a few things. Friendly service and they carry the granola that I like
Great Local Store, to shop at. Nice, neat, clean. Fresh food. 4 star neighborhood store.
Great store ,fully stocked friendly service and quick effecient register check out.....
Awesome place. Best deli fried chicken in town. All employees are friendly and helpful.
I love this store if you looking for bargain prices on meat this is the place to shop
The prices are higher but it's the only grocery store nearby. Very limited produce.
Usually has anything you need if you're running for a couple of items. Great staff
Great staff. Expensive, but it's close to the food desert I live in. Decent deli.
It's great and very handy especially if there's severe weather. Friendly staff.
Great neighborhood grocery store. Always has those 'forgotten ' items.
Good place go get some meats, cleaner then the rest of the safeway
Very friendly staff. Nice selection. Good little community store.
A great selection of kosher foods you won't find anywhere else.
Great customer service and amazing fresh and hot fried chicken
Inventory is always well stocked and staff is always helpful.
Super friendly staff. Take-out fried chicken is fantastic.
Great chicken nice staff they keep everything stocked too
Kinda expensive but good meat prices for what I needed
Overpriced, but in a pinch, they have longer hours...
Way better than the Kessler location, friendly staff
Clean, friendly but their prices are pretty high!
Store was very clean and neat. Also well stocked

Cozy, clean and Nancy is the Best
