I have been coming to this salon since 2009 and I hate to give them this rating but unfortunately this past year I’ve had two awful experiences with them. I’ve been switched to four different stylists over the years because of stylists going on maternity leave or quitting. The very last stylist I had, comepletly ruined my hair back on December 29th. I had booked this appointment a week before a trip I was supposed to go on and before my wedding in another country. I informed them of this. My hair was so badly done, I was beyond embarrassed. In all of the years of getting my hair done, this was the first time I experienced such a horrible experience. I didn’t even get something different done either. I got my usual highlights/lowlights. I went from blonde with roots growing in to dark brown hair with orange highlights. I was absolutely mortified!!! The stylist disregarded everything I told her and decided to colour my roots a dark brown and then proceeded to add bleach streaks on top of the colour she already applied, which obviously won’t pull through. There were also patches of dark on the light pieces. When she blowdried my hair, she my chair turned away from the mirror, so I couldn’t see my hair. After going home, I saw my hair in the mirror and different lighting and I literally cried. I was ready to shave my hair off! I came back on the Monday to have my hair re-done. The stylist was able to sort of correct the mess she had done but I was upset with the way she handled everything. She didn’t want to blow dry my hair that day so she stuck me under the dryer with soaking wet hair and no towel. When I asked for a towel I was told “no, it’s okay, it will dry.” I have extremely long and thick hair and there was no way it would’ve dried like that. The other stylists saw that I was upset and offered me a towel and then went to the front desk to report what was going on. Then a junior stylist came over and offered to blow dry my hair. Long story short, Joseph’s lost a long-time client and I definitely won’t be back again!

I had went to Joseph's after reading the below reviews, it sounded like a great place. In contrast, my experience was very disappointing. While the director and the girl who cut my hair were very nice, the 'Senior' hairstylist who did my colour had to be the the most unpleasant hairdresser I have ever had. Hair dressing is a service, a customer service, and she had none of these skills. I don't know how you expect to retain customers by being exceptionally snotty. I constantly felt judged by her and the condescending attitude. Two hours of that. I had wanted blonde ombre tips (e.g. fading from one colour to another). About 1/3 was done very well, the front. They did not show me the back at the salon which I thought nothing of until I was home. Well, the whole back basically looked as if I had dyed it 6 months before and let my roots grow in. An extremely blunt line where blonde met dark. Many people asked me if I had done it myself. Not encouraging. Needless to say after paying $200 as a treat to myself- something I would never normally do- I literally cried after seeing it. As a student that's a lot of money to part with to be so disappointed. I did go back to see if it could be fixed and the woman at the desk said she would look into it and call me back. She did not apologize or even really look at my hair to see what the problem was. I never received a call back and after all the trouble the last place I wanted to spend another uncomfortable few hours, was inside Joseph's. The only redeeming qualities were the politeness and good cut done by the non-senior hairdresser and the director was nice. But I also think as a professional someone should have pointed out how badly the dye job was and arranged to fix it even if it wasn't that day. I would never go back, and never recommend. I just think there are better ways to run a salon then complete apathy towards paying customers. I regret leaving any gratuity.

Last week, I went there for hair cut for my engagement shoot. I requested senior stylist to make sure I get best hair cut for my special day. I booked online appointment and then called to make sure I get senior stylist with more experience. Lady on the phone said that yes I am booked with experienced person. I am very disappointed and never going back. Person who did my hair completely ruined front bangs. They are not partitioned properly. One side had deep in partition,long hair and other side short in partition and short in length. Now, I have to wait till these grow so I can go somewhere else to fix these. I am very disappointed, 1. They ruined my hair when my wedding is in a week 2. I could tell the way this girl was cutting my that she was not experienced and They charged for senior stylist. Never going back.......one thing I would like to mention I used to drive all the way from Toronto to Hamilton just for my haircut because I was very happy customer. I guess now they don't take their job serious.

I had a really great experience a couple years ago with a stylist named Natalia and decided to give Joseph's a try again as I've been growing out a short pixie and my hair had reached that terrible millions of layers stage. I was booked in the same day for an appointment with Alexis, a senior stylist at Joseph's. Like me state in advance I have haircut phobia since growing out my hair, too many times when growing out a pixie will a stylist chop off much more than I expect. She sat me down and we discussed what I was looking to achieve. She was super honest about the length we needed to take off and gave me exactly what we discussed! I wait a few days to write a review about haircuts because I believe you have to see it styled yourself and she honestly nailed it. I've been just about everywhere in the city and so far I've had the best experience with Joseph's by far.

There’s so much that can be said about this place, the staff here are so friendly and absolutely make the salon have a very welcoming prescense to any clientele that may venture in.. I walked in to get my hair (which is very long) washed and styled & there was zero hesitation with the stylist who also did an excellent job! It was nice to be in a salon with a good team that all genuinely care about your happiness and making you look and feel beautiful. The atmosphere is very peaceful, there’s even professional makeup artists here and the work is phenomenal as well. If you’re looking for a salon that will have you feeling sexy & confident when you leave, look no further and try out this salon today I promise you that you won’t regret it! It was a mistake that choose this salon for my hair soothing. I did the treatment last week and clearly explained my expectations before the treatment. I even showed my reference pic since I don't have any idea about the treatment. Unfortunately, after 3 days, I washed my hair and it was completely back to my natural hair texture. I contacted the salon they said they can't do anything until I get back there. I mentioned to them that I am doing this treatment to attend a function and I need to go back to my country. Currently, I am in my country and I am not able to do anything over here since they demanding to check my hair. It was a really bad experience and I will never recommend this salon for anyone.

I would NEVER recommend anyone to get their hair cut at this salon. My experience (customer service wise) was good. My haircut on the other hand, absolutely horrible. I asked for layers - and a trim as I had some dead ends and needed to freshen them up. The layers are grossly choppy and all over the place. I can’t wear my hair straight because it’s so badly blended (and as I said choppy). I came home and had a meltdown because of how poor this cut is. I believe the hairdresser was Ana? I’m so upset as I can’t go back now, and I’m hoping to get this mess of hair fixed so I can be semi satified with the cut.

I have been going to Joseph's for 13 yrs. Tje quality of the products are incredible. Staff get to know you and they work with you to meet your individualized needs. I am a rather discerning customer when it comes to my hair as it is a short funky haircut and has highlights. I regularly have people ask me where I get my hair done and am happy to tell them! On a very few occasions I haven't been entirely satisfied and have been given amazing customer service that has helped make me happy and always wanting to come back. Would recommend this salon to any discerning customer.

Very friendly stylists that keep me coming back not only because of the wonderful and polite staff, but most important is that every stylist I have been to, are so very professional and I ALWAYS am super happy with the end result! Whether it be a cut (trim) to colouring as well as styling my hair (for example), getting Dutch braids (boxer braids) done and just being extremely pleased and happy with my results:) I DO RECOMMEND Joseph’s Coiffures to anyone and everyone who likes a professional and pleasant atmosphere. And who will be so very pleased with the end result!

Amazing place to be and get the service you want. I love how cheerful the woman's are and how respectful the stylist are for their clients. I love my stylist who knows her colours and I have always had a problem with other places but Tanya she did amazing at bringing the colour out in my hair. I found products that work for me that I'm not allergic too and it was thanks to her. If you love colour and want to express your feelings or personality I recommend sitting down and speaking to the stylist here. They do wonders.

Had my colour (highlights and tone) and cut done by Natalia today. Am 53 and a brunette going grey. Embracing my grey has been a work in progress. Natalia took things to a new level today. Not too blond and not too grey. And she’s very professional! The whole place is wonderful. Have also had colour by Tanya and Alexis who are also great. Maria, the owner runs things so smoothly and with the utmost of consideration for her clients. Not a lot going for Jackson square but Joseph’s is definitely worth the trip downtown.

I visited Joseph's for the first time yesterday and had my hair cut by Alexis. She was absolutely amazing and listened to exactly what I wanted. I asked for long layers and she did just that! She is super sweet and even went the extra mile to restyle my hair since my hair doesn't flip well with blowdry blowouts, so she went in with a curling iron to give the same effect and made sure that I was happy with it. I will definitely be coming back!!! The girls at the front were also lovely!

Had a terrible colour experience here. They agreed to correct it, but the young girl who did my hair and clearly had no experience wasn't offered, nor did she ask, for advice on fixing it. She was also extremely rude about having to fix her mistake. The "fix" was better but not good. On top of it all, she only blow dried the section she fixed and I left the salon with wet hair! I've never been more disappointed with a hair experience. Yes it was the Jackson Square location.

So I came from montreal to spend a few days with family and I googled nearby salons. I was a bit hesitant before going to Josephs because of google reviews, I went to Albert snow hair salon first but they said I should have made an appointment before, so I went to Joseph's, the place looked nice and clean, I just walked in without making an appointment, the staff were friendly and I'm really satisfied with my haircut, Sarah did a nice dry haircut for me.

I am a senior lady, new to Hamilton, and needed to find a new hairdresser. I took to Google and decided from all the hair salons out there, to give Joseph's a chance. I am just delighted with a new haircut. Natalia was just first class. She was friendly, professional and offered her opinion when I asked for it. I loved the little extras like the neck message and the hot towel along the back of the neck. I have found my new hair salon and I will be back

I've been going to Roxanne since last year and she is amazing. Always offers coffee/water (and refills), great conversation and most importantly, a great hair stylist. She listens to my ideas, makes it happen and I'm never disappointed. I've had only pleasant encounters with other staff, especially the receptionist who is always happy and smiley. I've found my salon and won't be going anywhere else!

I am surprised that they only have a 4 star review. My wife goes here, and only here, to get her hair done, and loves the professionalism of the staff, the quality of the cuts and color, plus they always try to go the extra mile - as you can see from the owners response in addressing issues posted in google. My wife is super picky, but super loyal when treated right. Keep up the great work ladies!

Sarah helped me out a lot. She was really nice, listened to me and what I wanted very well, and constantly checked in with me along the way to make sure it was what I wanted. As a guy with longer hair i really wanted to make sure i had someone styling my hair who knew what how to shape my hair and Sarah did such an awesome job. I am very happy with the cut and would definitely go back.

Had the laziest and poorly done wash and dry by Natalia. I asked for a good hard wash and she barley ran her hands over my hair. I asked for a straight blow dry with as little volume as possible and left with an absolute mess of a hair dry job. Had to go home and re-do it with a straightener because it was so lazily dried. Would absolutely not recommend

I’ve been with Shannon for years now and she does not disappoint! A master in what she does and I leave her feeling refreshed and a new person each time! She takes her time to make sure she gets every detail right, and giving you what you want but also with the help of her experience she always knows what would look best if I’m ever unsure.

Found @shak.does.hair on Instagram, fell in love with the posts. Reached out, came in for a consult and got booked for the next day! I am super happy with my hair, it’s perfect! Maria's shop is wonderfully layed out with lots of fantastic products for all types. Tanya has been transforming me for 20 years and never disappoints me. Always up on new styles and products Very pleasant never rushes but stayes on schedule. Love the place even if its in a bad spot down town.

I had my hair done for a wedding and it was the worst time. The stylists & makeup & essence was not done the way I wanted. The receptionist and LISA had a rude energy and the landscaping of this salon & the fact that no one has real training... I wanted to leave as I walked in the door.

I visited this salon today and my very talented stylist was Leyla. She did an exceptional job with my hair. I love it! I would recommend this salon to anyone wishing to experience real artistic and technical talent while still being very reasonably priced for the client. Thank you!!

What irks me..I was only in for a touch up. My eyebrows don't look the same. Also, never in life have I had my eyebrows decorated with an eyebrow pencil . I get plucked and leave. This woman WAY overplucked ... filled it in with pencil. ..never.. ever go here..... ever...

Joseph’s is a very warm and inviting salon. Staff are professional and friendly. Shakira is my hair dresser, she is wonderful person and stylist. After years of disappointment from other salons, I have made Joseph’s my Salon. Maria, the owner is as sweet as they come.

Recently had a colour and cut. My stylist, Sarah is fantastic and knows my hair so well. She does amazing work and the staff are so friendly. There's a reason why they are busy in there, that's because they are fantastic at what they do.

So i wemt back in to have my fixed and DITA did an amazimg job. I have not been happier. Maria the owner refunded my money and gave me treatments to do at home till i was able to come back in. I am so so happy i will for sure return.
