This review is based on just one visit, but that one visit restored our hope and opened our eyes to what vetcare can and should look like. We've spent over $10k caring for rabbits at several other vet clinics and hospitals over the past 4 years. For Dewey, this always resulted in lots of tests and never any good answers. Here's what stood out to us about Urban Animal Hospital as different and better. 1. The first phone interaction was positive and reassuring, and we got a same-day Sunday morning appointment seeking palitive care for Dewey, suspected (but not confirmed) to have cancer. Our regular vet was closed, and we wanted a fresh opinion anyway. We called another vet who could give us an appointment, too, but we felt much better about this first contact. 2. When we arrived, the two receptionists were in a good mood, attentive and orderly. They went from giggling about something silly to very attentively listening to and recording Dewey's history and symptoms in the most professional way. 3. We went into an actual exam room, and we got to stay with and comfort Dewey the entire time. Not once in the past 4 years has this happened. We are done taking our pets somewhere we only see the lobby of and leaving them in a stressful environment for hours on end. 4. We got to interact directly with the attending veterinarian, which was both extremely comforting and very helpful in relaying pertinent information in real time as he performed his exam. The amount of eye contact we got from an actual veterinarian is surely more here in one visit than the rest of the previous 4 years combined, and such an important factor. We are done accepting telemedical veterinarian care with a storefront cashier. 5. While the attending veterinarian was not an expert in rabbits, which is okay, we could see and observe everything he was doing and discussing with his colleague. His veterinary knowledge and processes were obvious and apparent, and we had every confidence that what he was saying and doing was correct. 6. He wheeled an ultrasound machine into the exam room right when he arrived. I said, "We just did an ultrasound," to which he replied, "Don't worry, I'm not going to charge you, I just want to see what's going on." The ultrasound we just did cost $600, we had to wait days for the appointment, they shaved his entire belly and sedated him (leading to a lot of diarrhea) and they didn't even find anything conclusive. Here, he was able to do the ultrasound in other spots through his fur just fine, at least enough to see what he needed to see, and Dewey was conscious and conforted the whole time. Different scenarios and circumstances maybe, but still. 7. We left with a sensible treatment plan, which all four of us agreed upon. It made complete sense and was directed at Dewey's most concerning and newly discovered symptom, liquid pooling under his skin and water diluting his blood. They also lent us a heating pad/bed, which was just so unexpected and heartfelt. 8. After a $200 discount we didn't ask for, our bill was only $198. We would have been smiling all the way home if this visit was $1,200, purely based on the excellent level of care and attention Dewey received. Sadly however, Dewey passed away the very next morning in my arms, within just a few minutes of us waking up. He deteriorated significantly overnight, but waited for us to say goodbye. While 'what ifs' are not a healthy part of the grieving process, 'what if Dewey came to this clinic just a few days or weeks beforehand' most definitely did occur to me. We'll never know. What I do know is that we'll continue bringing our other two rabbits here until they give us a reason not to. If we need to update this review later, we will. We only just reviewed our current vet after 2 years of care. Our first impression though is excellent, and we are eternally grateful for the hope and care you provided us in Dewey's final days. Posting now because it's worth letting other pet owners know what they should be looking out for. Thanks again!

We have been clients of Urban Animal Hospital for nearly 20 years. Our most pleasant experiences were with Dr.Joan Lynch and her crack team of support staff. Unfortunately our pleasant experience slowly declined after Dr. Kim took over, and then it rapidly spiraled after Dr. Lynch's original support staff started to get replaced. In addition to an astounding lack of compassion we found the current support staff to be dangerously disorganize, unprofessional, rude, very condescending, and downright disrespectful. They constantly made errors and then stubbornly blamed us for their incompetence after we call them out. The apparent "lead" of the support staff consistently bullied my wife to tears. Their most creative scam is to skim on the number of doses in a prescription. Then they will bullishly blame you for the shortage and charge additional to have the prescription filled correctly. The manner in how this was handled and the poor attitude of the employee contributed to our confirmation that this was an intentional scam. BE AWARE. While we are not able to judge Dr. Kim's level of skill, we can state that we were constantly uncomfortable with his rushed and generally non-informative treatment plans. We are now suspicious of his level of skill after the last treatment plan, involving a potentially over-prescribed medication, contributed to the death of our 12 year old cat in an emergency animal hospital. Yes! We had to go to another vet because the staff REFUSED to accept our emergency 10 MINUTES BEFORE THEIR CLOSING TIME. Life happens. We get that. The blatant lack of compassion and attentiveness we received from the Urban Animal Hospital before and after our tragic loss has multiplied our grief and caused us to lose all trust in British Columbia's extremely overpriced veterinarians. At the very least if you are looking for honest and caring professionalism we highly recommend that you take the slightly longer trip over the bridge.

DO NOT GO HERE! My roommate's dog ingested a foreign item last night, and we took him to an emergency room. The on call doctor said he needed an endoscopy and that they didn't have the specialized doctor to perform the procedure in for the next 2 days. The situation is critical, he is on IV and every minute that we waste is threatening his life. If the object leaves his stomach and reaches his intestine, he will have to go to surgery. We don't want him to go under the knife unless its absolutely necessary. Urban was our regular vet for the little puppy for the past 1 year, and so naturally we called them to inquire if they can perform the procedure. The receptionist was so rude on the phone, told her that he doesn't need an endoscopy and that we were stupid to even ask for such an "uncommon procedure". Remind you, this is just a receptionist with no medical training whatsoever, and has not yet examined the patient. Moving forward, she proceeded to say that the doctor that performs the endoscopy could be at one of two locations in the lower mainland, and that we should just go there and "try your luck." "TRY YOUR LUCK?" Obviously, we lost our temper on the phone because this was the regular vet, we were supposed to get help from them and this girl with ZERO medical training wasted 30 minutes on the phone telling us that we don't need the procedure. And now is entirely refusing to help. I was furious at the lack of professionalism and pure empathy from the receptionist. To be met with such unprofessionalism, disregard for urgency, and a refusal to even explore options is truly shocking. Now she told her boss that we were rude to her on the phone, and they removed us as clients altogether. The absolute worst experience, do not go there.

From my experiences going to a few different vets over the years I can say, without a doubt, that Urban has been the best location yet. I've now been regularly visiting Dr.Hayk with my three girls for the last year or so and every time has been an absolute joy. All three of my cats have varying personalities and medical histories, from lazy and passive to a ball or energy that cant sit still, and he has effortlessly adapted to them like no other vet has. You can tell everybody working at the vet deeply cares about their patients, to the point that whenever I bring in one of my cats the staff will ask me about how the others are doing just out of curiosity. Considering the amount of patients they must be seeing on a regular basis the fact they remember really is a testament to the care they provide. For those that care to know I'm happy to say that I've never felt a push from the Doctors here to pay for unnecessary tests. Unlike at other clinics that typically have this dismissive "just trust me and get X test done" attitude, the staff here have always been transparent with me about what's worth testing for and what isn't. They've always gone out of their way to throughly inspect my cats and treat accordingly. This does reflect in a slightly higher check up price when compared to other locations, but after so many years of hearing "We didn't catch this before" or "if we had been able to start medication sooner" you quickly realize the long term benefits, both for the health of the patient and not needing more expensive medication and operations later. Overall finding this clinic has been an absolute miracle and I will happily continue to bring my girls here.

Dr Hayk is a fantastic vet, he seems to absolutely love the animals that he sees. He's super honest with diagnosis and prognosis even if the prognosis is poor. If you're at all hypersensitive then you may find him curt, as I initially did - but keep in mind, he's there to provide care first and foremost for your pets (which he does very well). Subsequent visits, he's been incredible and very kind - he's been very on point with his estimations, timelines, and diagnoses of both my dogs and I've never felt upsold. He can also perform ultrasounds which other clinics cannot. We had initially seen Dr Hayk for an emergency visit, but was incredibly impressed in a subsequent visit when he also diagnosed an unrelated but rather apparent lump on my dog's leg as a bone tumor that our previous vet had not diagnosed for months. Dr Hayk gave a devastating prognosis of about 6 months untreated, but with his palliative care suggestions and treatments, my dog has since exceeded this. We've since switched to this clinic even though it's downtown and parking is atrocious - it's that worth it to have a good vet. ++ Competitive pricing, appointments are easy to get and usually quite punctual, reception and vet techs are good, nice to have follow-up care calls and emailed appt reminders.

This is a difficult review to write. I'm trying so hard to be objective and fair while maintaining honesty and integrity. So the following is honest and compromises none of the integrity instilled in me by my wonderful parents almost 60 years ago. The staff that "greeted" us and our puppy were either uninterested, rude or 'surly'. The attendant yelled at me for touching my dog too long as I got her to relax on the weigh scale. We survived. Then came the veterinarian, yawning openly and rubbing sleep from his eyes. He didn't seem pleased that we'd disturbed his nap. I was commanded to place my 50 pound great pyrenees puppy on the slippery kitchen counter in front of him that he called the table. Then he conducted the most cursory of examinations. I had a question or two but after my first about nutrition was answered with "read the label on the food package", I didn't bother asking more. We left quickly after quietly paying the 85 dollar fee and escaped to the bright sunny street, happy to be alive and healthy. There are good veterinarians out there. Never again will I use convenient nearby location as a criterion for a vet choice. I'd hope some day soon a responsible competent practitioner might occupy that location... My puppy and I such dreamers.

We brought our cat which we recently adopted from the SPCA for her initial free consultation. I was impressed with Doctor Hayk's diagnostic skills, thoroughness, compassion and great professional interaction with Shadow. He had an uncanny sense of relating to her in a gentle, soft and caring manner. He was direct and to the point about her needs and did not try to upsell us on any unnecessary procedures. In fact he did the opposite. The receptionist had suggested she might need some additional vaccines and medications but Doctor Hayk assured us they would not be required. We have never owned a cat before and appreciated the honesty. I was also expecting some hidden fees or something but there were none. We did ask for a nail trim which was understandably an additional charge, but we were able to film the procedure so that we could attempt to do it ourselves. All in all our experience was a positive one and most importantly Shadow was treated with such gentle care. We will bring her back for additional consultations or care should any concerns arise. Thanks again to Doctor Hayk and the entire care team at Urban Veterinary Clinic.

I brought my cat here several times to see Dr. Lee. Sometime in the 2 years, the clinic changed ownership and I am not impressed with the new veterinarians. My cat has been healthy and had no problems, when we brought him in for a simple GI issue. The vet gave us a rushed exam and immediately told me my cat had asthma, had anxiety and that he was possibly blocked due to crystals. I knew he was out to lunch, as none of these things were ever noted by the previous vet, and he has never once shown any signs of asthma, or urine blockages. The icing on the cake was, when we were leaving- the vet offered me a flyer advertising a special for diagnostic tests… just a disgusting money grab, and unnecessary stress on your pet. Do yourself and your furry friend a favour and seek out a vet that is actually interested in your pets health, not just a money grab. Shame on them. EDIT: Dr. Kim was the original vet I saw before the clinic was sold. Also, I have since brought my cat to Granville Island Vet hospital where he was thoroughly examined and given a clean bill of health. No asthma, no urine crystals.

While this is all fresh in my mind, I thought I'd write a positive review. Just a few days ago, something was not right with my kitty. I called & instantly they found a spot available for an exam. The staff is truly amazing, kind and caring, and show unconditional love for all pets. Unfortunately the news of my kitty's situation was not good, but at 20 years old one can expect her life to come to an end. Dr. Kim helped me through my decision making, was honest, provided me with all the information I asked for and more. I had to let my kitty go. The staff again stepped up to show how truly wonderful they are not only to our pets but to us, the Mom's & Pop's. They allowed me to hold my wonderful kitty as she passed away, and gave me as much private time I needed with her. They guided me and took care of us both. I recommend this caring hospital as the place to take your pet in any situation. They truly care. I received a condolence card in the mail today. Thank you UAH!

0 stars if I could. I came here with my puppy and dr Leung had NO IDEA what she was doing. She acted as if she’s never touched a dog in her life. We came in just for an exam to make sure she was healthy as we had got her 2 days prior. She made our puppy scream multiple times, verbalized twice “hm okay what do I do next”, shoved an unlubed thermometer in her (so I doubt it was sterile) and a few other things that were odd. I won’t say it was this vets fault, however, we took her to the vet on the Monday(left with her saying she was super healthy), my puppy died on that Friday. She was not right the minute we left the vet. I have video proof of it all. I had her 1 full week before she passed away. I called and spoke with this clinic about the situation and no remorse. I also couldn’t speak to dr Leung. She needs to be re assessed as she should NOT be in practice.

I’ve had pets for 50+ years. Their health needs have, for the most part, been handled competently by some very good vets. However, the owner of Urban Animal Hospital stands far above all the rest. He is, first of all, knowledgeable. He has diagnosed all of my Chinese Crested’s issues in minutes, always following up with verification via x-rays and or scans, as needed. But he goes far beyond competence. He cares - genuinely cares, both for the pet and for the human. His staff does as well. We stayed with this office because of Gladys, one of the technicians. She handled nail clipping beautifully, something I dreaded until we found her. Then, we struck gold when Dr. Hayk Hakobyan took over the practice. He, Gladys and the entire team are a gift to the animals (and humans) in their care.

As a newcomer in Vancouver & first time cat mom, every time was like an nightmare-ish experience when my cats were sick. Especially don't know what to do or where to go or who to trust. There was time I only depended on google search instead of actually going to vet due to financial issues, but more importantly it's really hard to find good vets who truly care animals. But Dr.Hayk and Team Urban completely changed my & my cats lives. They are trustful, caring, and knowledgeable. I feel so blessed that I found this place :) Update: My girls still love here and all doctors and staffs are just amazing. Thank you!

I brought my kitten to this clinic for a two part vaccination. The clinic charged me an annual wellness examination fee both times, even though the second time my kitten just needed a vaccine booster. The time passed between these two visits was 3 weeks, so the second exam was absolutely unnecessary. Dr. Kim examined the kitten twice within 3 weeks and said everything was fine with the kitten, even though it had an unusually big round belly. It turned out the kitten had ringworms. He never asked whether deworming was previously done or offered to do it at the time we visited the clinic. In addition, when I asked Dr. Kim what kind of food to give to the kitten, he told me to ask staff working at the front counter! A total neglect and money grab. Avoid!

I trusted Dr Hayk Hakobyan with the painful decision to put my loved dog down recently. We have been clients of Urban Animal Hospital since 1989 and after spending tens of thousands of dollars over 32 years with various pets, the veterinarian that I trusted with the health of our dear pets completely betrayed us. Lee, the office manager, was rude on the phone, dropping us as patients under false accusations. We are flabbergasted by their entitled attitude. I would no longer recommend this clinic to anyone. The staff is clearly untrustworthy. And at no point, with several witnesses there that can attest, were there any disrespect from my family. You have not only lied, but also exhibited disrespect to your so called valued clients.

  • isabel aasen

Dr. Hayak is a very knowledge doctor. As a veteran nurse who served 3 countries I trust this man with my 2 cats and GSD 100%. His front desk receptionist from Korea is another story. Recently, for some reason she took a disliking to me. She quickly engaged in passive aggressive behavior by ignoring me while being overly friendly with other clients, adding to speaking with a client in Korean who was was sitting next to me and had clear command of the English language, and ignoring my request to speak to her to engage her colleagues into a hate campaign against me while I sat and had no choice but tolerate her abuse. Healthcare is challenging, human and animal… but remaining professional is something that is not negotiable.

1. I got my dogs microchipped and I thought it is just simple procedure. I cannot believe they did not check it if the microchipped is actually inserted. I went to different vet for vaccination and they said the microchipped was not there. It is really creating a lot of issues since I have to go back and forth and it caused a lot of works and wasted time traveling back and forth since I need it for travel. 2. They quoted me for updated Rabies Titer Test as $151.06 and afterward, they are trying to ask almost doubled. If they have told me that, I would have just redo the test and not even bother to updated the report. FYI - the only update is the country of the pet is moved to and the correction of the owner name.

  • Stuart Moore

I briefed the staff extensively on my pets needs - and how to best help my pet. My previous vet (before I moved to BC) was responsive, would allow me to muzzle my pet, and then sedate them when sensitive areas like the eyes and ears needed treatment. Urban Animal staff blew off my needs, the doctor barely examined my pet, and they physically restrained my dog instead of providing sedation as I requested. On the walk back my dog favored his right leg - and had a slight limp. They also sent me home with 14-20 supply of ear drops - when I repeatedly told them my dog does not respond well to medication being placed in ears/eyes. That is why I requested sedation before treatment - yet they refused. Will not return.

Dr. Hayk is an amazingly knowledgeable and skilled veterinarian who understands animal health from a holistic point of view. I took my little anxious wiener dog to him as she had an ear infection. He not only tested her ear culture to find the right prescription but he also made recommendations about improving her overall gut health as it was the root cause of her ear yeast infection which played a role in her anxiety. After using the drops, tailoring her diets, and putting her on probiotics the ear infection went away for good and she is also less anxious and spontaneously playful for the first time ever! Thank you so much Dr. Hayk and staff at Urban Animal Hospital!

  • Kelli Mortimer

I just moved to Vancouver and my cat, Eggroll, needed a checkup. Chose this vet for its proximity to where I am staying, but I will continue going because of how incredibly friendly and caring everyone is. You can tell these individuals truly love what they do. When our pets are not well it can be a stressful time for them as well as their humans and they take such good care of everyone. Called me this morning to check-in and make sure my cat was doing alright after his visit. Just top notch care, have never experienced this level of service before at a vet. Thank you for loving all of your patients.

Hands down Dr.Hayk is the best bet I have ever met in my life! I had dogs for the past 25 years and now a I have been to vets all over BC for the past 25 years and have never met anyone who is more caring and professional than Dr.Hayk!! He appeared in our life like an angel and has proven his skills beyond extraordinary we are truly blessed to have met him! Thank you, Alyssa and Julie :) May 2,2023 Dr.Haik the hero saved my little baby again! He did a surgery on the same day and she is back home writhing 2 hours eating and ralaxing. Thank you Dr.Haik

  • Kate Connors

Dr. Kim is very knowledgeable and patient with my grumpy cat, but it's the counter staff that really earn this 5 star review. They've been more than helpful with my pending move to the US, spending several minutes carefully sorting the pertinent documents for easy reference by border officials and going through my disorganized old records to make sure my cat was up to date on all her vaccinations. Their pricing is more than fair, especially considering they're one of only two vet offices that I know of located in downtown Vancouver. I would recommend anyone visit them with their cat or dog.

  • Laura Jacobs

So I took my cat here before moving to the USA to get a health certificate. At the time she had some balding type spots on her ears and the vet here said oh it’s just natural hair loss. Well it wasn’t. It was a ringworm and bacterial infection that he let go not medicated over a month. My cat crossed an international border NOT healthy ! This is fraud and wrong. I called today to get proper medicine diagnosed for the cat now and they told me they cannot prescribe it because Thebes didn’t make the diagnosis. Yeah / because your doctors and staff are absolutely incompetent . Save your money.

  • Stephanie Marian

Hayk (Dr. Hakobyan) and the staff at Urban Animal Hospital treated my cat on Mar. 21, 2022. I found them to be professional, compassionate and extremely accommodating and helpful. Hayk is intelligent, highly motivated to identify the root of an issue and to do his best to resolve it. He treats animals and people with empathy and respect. Most refreshing was his straightforward approach, giving clear answers to all questions. The prices were reasonable and I never felt that any treatment or diagnostic was being suggested needlessly. I highly recommend this veterinary practice.

  • Patrick Audley

Excellent vets and staff. We've never had better care for our cats than we've had here. Super knowledgeable vets who are clearly veterans in their profession. Update months later: the continuing level of care and attention to detail has been stellar. Dr. Hakobyan actively reads veterinary journals and has continued to amaze me with the care he's taken with our cats. Also worth noting that they do labs tests and results onsite with results in minutes. Update 2023: the level of care here still amazes me. Easily the best vet I've had in my life; highly recommended.

  • Jastina Maranjyan

Anytime anyone needs care from a veterinarian I recommend Urban. The best specialist, wonderful people in the team. They care immensely for every single pet that comes in and out. All the employees are kind and positive and veterinarian Dr. Hayk Hakobyan and the technician Alena Nova are a fantastic duo - truly no better place to trust for your little fur balls (or naked sphinx like mine;)) If you’re ever looking for an intelligent team of professionals who will treat you fairly and with care, go here. I’m telling you, there’s no better place…

  • Anastasiia Viun

Wonderful veterinary clinic. Their approach is very individual, and I don't feel pushed towards any purchases. They make phone calls to gently remind you of the next visit or regular check up approaching. And my cat, who ultimately hates all the doctors, feels quite safe there and lets the doctor examine her. My cat is on the very strict hypoallergenic diet and another great thing about this hospital - they always have this special food in store. The staff is incredibly pleasant too!

  • jennifer clarke

Dr. Hayk is probably the best veterinarian in Vancouver. Having been to at least 10 different clinics over the years, and seen 25 or more vets, I can easily say he is above and beyond all of them. His knowledge base, surgical skills, critical thinking, diagnostic ability and his compassion are next level. I will never go see another vet, he has set the bar incredibly high. If you are looking for a new vet, in the best interest of your pet you should be seeing him.

  • Sungpon Cho

Very friendly and helpful. Thank you for giving so much information from the basic information to the very important info. our family is raising a puppy for the first time and helped us with things we needed to know and recommended supplies for us. Also, Dr.Kim treated the dog very well, so our dog could get his second shot comfortably. We are planning on going to this animal hospital for out puppy from now on and would totally recommend to all my friends. :)

  • Sunny Pham

Amazing staff and service. The whole team at Urban Animal Hospital really showed us how much they care about our kitten. We had our kitten spayed here and there were multiple calls before and after the surgery to ensure the procedure went smoothly. They called many times after the surgery to follow up on each stages of our kitten ‘s recovery. We are truly thankful to have them taking care of our cat from now on. Grear job Urban Animal Hospital

  • Jen M

I am really impressed with Dr. Hayk, the vet techs and every team member I've come in contact with at Urban Animal Hospital. I am very relieved and happy to have found this great place for pet care in the city. They are welcoming, knowledgeable and were able to thoroughly answer any questions I had as well as providing a very comprehensive exam for my dog. I would highly recommend Dr. Hayk and this amazing veterinary hospital in the downtown Vancouver!

  • Gian Carlo Diluvi

Dr. Hayk is an amazing vet! He has a no-nonsense but caring approach to veterinary medicine and is always honest about what he considers the best course of action. Dr. Hayk also always gave us tons of treatment options but kept our budget in mind (and always considered our pup's well-being first and foremost). The whole staff at Urban Animal Hospital is amazing, professional, and caring. This is an amazing vet clinic and I cannot recommend it more!

  • Gina S

I brought my cat in because I was not sure if she had ear mites or not, or something worse. On the plus side, the Vet told me it was just wax and he cleaned her one ear with a tissue. In total he was with her for maybe 5 minutes. The staff were the ones who clipped her nails, another few minutes of work (she is a very good natured cat). My bill was $98. This certainly does not promote bringing her back unless there is an emergency. I feel gouged.

  • Avril Healy

Thank you to Dr. Hayk, Alena and Lee for their exceptional care of our dog Rua who needed emergency surgery. It was an extremely stressful time for us but the Urban Veterinary team were all so caring and understanding and took the best care of Rua. We have upmost confidence in Dr. Hayk and the team and we will be sure to return to the clinic with Rua in the future. Thank you Urban Veterinary Clinic, you guys are the best!! - Avril, Sarah & Rua

  • Cassidy Causey

Unfortunately a really awful experience. The vet was incredibly condescending and aggressively disrespectful. He did not introduce himself, ask my name, or ask questions about my dog. He was incredibly arrogant about his "diagnosis" and was extremely offended when asked to explain how he came to this conclusion. Highly recommend going elsewhere. I left crying halfway through the appointment becaue I couldn't countine to be spoken to that way.

  • Dorothy Kerr

Dr Hakobyan, I am being prevented by staff to have my concerns addressed. Practice manager Lee has now said they will no longer provide prescription food over the mistakes staff have made in ordering the food but attempting to cover the mistakes by saying it is my fault, in spite of my patience, and Lee does not even know the story. I’m sure you do not want your clinic represented in this manner. Please hear the story. Thank you

  • Janos Sitar

Good veterinarian but terrible air quality and I try and spend as little time in there as possible as it’s never below 1000ppm of CO2. Today when I arrived it was at almost 1500ppm and no one wears a mask. Update: my comment has caused them to drop me as a client without warning or discussion. I guess they have super thin skin about the poor air quality for their staff and patients but not enough to do something about it

  • Connie Tierney

My 10 year old Aussie was referred to Dr Hayk for an ear infection that would not get better for over 9 months. Dr Hayk resolved the issue in a few months. My dog is now infection free, lost some weight due to a new diet. He’s like a puppy again. The Dr and staff are fantastic, always takes the time to answer any questions, during the visit and over the phone. They also follow up to see how the dog is after any procedure.

  • Thorsten Himmelmann

Such an incredible vet. I’ve had animals for well over 20 years. It’s often hard finding a vet that is both knowledgeable in veterinary services, and actually loves all the animals he deals with. Never have my dogs liked a vet so much, and never have I felt a vet actually cares about my animals. Also well priced compared to over downtown vets, and good customer service from the front desk team. 10/10 would recommend.

  • Kimberley Manderson

A bit biased because I didn't go for medical treatment on a pet, but the ladies who work the front end there are angels! Was in a situation that I needed my cat boarded and out of the apartment for our landlord and called there extremely last minute, them never seeing my cat before, and they bent over backwards to help me! The customer service I received is exactly what makes the world go around, just great staff!

  • B. A.B.P.

Great local animal hospital. Dr. Kim is a kind, gentle and thorough vet. Also, they have some great long term staff. The last reviewer complained publicly about being charged over $60 for a professional with years of higher education to examine their pet and prescribe medication. I guess he didn't see all of Dr. Kim's credentials posted on the wall. It's absurd to suggest that any doctor should work for free.

Dr Hayk is an incredible Vet, he’s a no games kind of guy, very straightforward and very insightful. I trust him deeply to take care of my little fur baby. My dog Bonnie loves him and trusts him as well, he has a great demeanour with the animals and is very soothing and gentle. I recommend him highly. His staff is also so lovely and helpful and just love on your animals until there’s no tomorrow! 10/10 ❤️

I took my senior cat in for a hematoma in his ear, next thing you know the vet and owner of the hospital tells me my cat has a enlarged heart, palups, and a bad back, none of which are true, all in the name of money, he went as far with the lie to try and have him put down. There is nothing wrong with my cat but a ear hematoma verified by a independent vet Don't take your pet to this guy he is greedy.

I brought my dog Jaxon for a routine surgery. I ended up getting a call saying my dog died. ****please do not bring your frenchie to this place*** Jaxon was 4 years old with ZERO health issues. When they took him to the animal hospital the doctors said to get an autopsy because his death didn’t seem right. He was my best friend... I can’t ever articulate the loss that this clinic has caused.

Dr. Hayk at Urban Animal Hospital is a great Doctor. His diagnostic skills are the best. He is kind and compassionate. Best vet around. I highly recommend him to every furry pet He is great with humans too, explains everything and answers all my questions. Dr.Hayk given my pets so much attention ❤️We are very lucky to have found a vet that cares about our furry babies just as much as we do.

We go every 3 weeks for a cartrophen injection to help with my dogs mobility (hips and joints). My dog gets excited and pulls me to go in when he realizes where we are going. This was not the case with our last vet. They show him tons love and let him wander the office to say hello to all the staff. He loves them. We are very happy! Id give them 10 out of 5 if it were possible.

  • Herman De Oliveira

Excellent service and care by the whole staff at Urban Animal Hospital. Dr Haik was very direct and honesty about the surgery(splenectomy) my 14years old Toby needed. He is an excellent surgeon and Toby had the best care possible. They organized for an overnight stay at another hospital after the surgery. We have found our Vet for life!!! Thank you Urban Animal Hospital

  • Amanda L.C.

Dr. Kim and his staff are wonderful people. They truly care and always make me feel like my pets are in the best hands. They do their best to accommodate my feelings and budget - I'm so lucky to have a vet office like this close to home. I've been to other vet offices in my life and have never felt as comfortable with my pets health then I do with Urban Animal Hospital.

  • Jarren MacDougall

Dr. Hyak and his team took very good care of our dog. She had to get dental surgery and he and his team were so good with our little dog. They were communicative and let us know what was happening all along the way and were so kind and caring. I would strongly recommend this clinic and have had nothing but good experiences every time we are there. Thank you!

  • Nadz Vera

Took my nine-year old kitty in for a checkup / examination, and it was much more thorough and involved than in the past! They ooh'd and aah'd over my beautiful girl (well, she IS gorgeous) and gave me some fair assessments and recommendations as far as dental work, price ranges, and general health care. Great staff and a pleasant experience for my gal!

  • Adam LeBlanc

The team here is hands-down the best I've encountered in the city. They squeezed my 13yr old puppy in for emergency analysis after she was falling over. I took her to another clinic first where they asked $1000 just for testing - Dr. Kim advised to simply try ~$10 anti-inflammatory meds which have worked. I cannot recommend them enough.

  • mirela hilderman

Dr Hayk is an experienced , dedicated veterinarian who cares about his patients. He was able to help us out with our very difficult shiba inu pup. He called us numerous times to follow up on Hugo’s health. We couldn’t be more grateful to have him care for our beloved pup!! Highly recommend his clinic and hope he never leaves!! :)

  • Pamela J Pes

I cannot say enough nice things about this animal hospital. Very thorough check up, I didn't feel pushed or rushed into anything. Gave explanations on everything that he's doing along with his vet tech. Made me and Jetta feel as comfortable as possible. Highly recommend Urban animal hospital for your little compadre.

We love pets and our family has 4 of them. So, I would say that Dr. Hayk is our family vet doctor for many years. It is hard to find more competent, professional and intelligent doctor all over the world! He saved the life of our dog, just made the right diagnosis in 15 minutes. Highly recommended!

  • Tracey Scott

Well this was the 1st time that my gorgeous cat, Katy, a rescue kitty, went to the vet for a nail trim. the staff was friendly and answered all of my questions. They took katy in the back and before I knew she was done!! Very professional, over all really good experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you …

  • Kat Gusarova

Dr. Hakobyan and the staff at Urban Animal Hospital are the pinnacle of veterinary professionalism. The service here has been refreshingly honest, fairly priced and informative. I highly recommend this clinic to anybody looking for a vet that truly cares about their pets and their clientele.

  • Katelyn Eales

Dr.Kim is vet goals. Hes the kindest man, you can really tell he loves animals. He never tries to "upsell" unnecessary treatments and our animals always walk away as close to smiling as they can. The front end staff and Vet techs are super lovely and really helpful. Cannot recommend enough.

  • Anthony Wong

  • Diana Hryshchenko

Dr. Hayk Hakobyan is an incredible doctor! I’ve met a lot of veterinarians in three different countries (Ukraine, Poland, and Canada) and he is the first who diagnosed my cat. He also provided a dental surgery and now my cat is absolutely healthy. Overall, highly recommended!

New ownership, and they are much more communicative and more thorough in their examination. Was pleasantly surprised when I brought my senior cat in for a checkup. Highly recommended (and it looks like all the negative reviews are prior to the new ownership).

  • Ekaterina Vasileva

We came here with my dog with digestive problems. The doctors consulted and helped us right away. They were very considerate and polite. My dog got better after a couple of days and the laboratory results showed us the reason of the problem.

  • Evie Sheppard

I have used this clinic twice so far for my new adopted dog (since February 2017). I found the care provided by Dr. Kim and his assistant to be excellent, and the fees to be very reasonable. I give a strong recommendation for this clinic.

  • Sophia Shane

I’ve always liked this vet hospital. Dr. Kim has a lot of experience with French Bulldogs. He good at identifying what the actual problem is vs what seems like trial and error at other hospitals. Fees are reasonable as well.

  • Garrett Goldup

If I say to much I will be on a tirade and I'm not that guy so I will limit my experience to...Not FriFriendly, apathetic, entitled, cash grab, vet who doesn't seem to have any affection for animals but loves condescending.

  • Ann S

I needed Saline solution for my chihuahua cuz his eye was randomly red.. I went to shoppers ..London Drugs ( only cuz they were closet. Nothing.. called them walked up cuz parking is a biatch...free of charge! Very nice

Went in to euthanize our dog. We felt rushed and the vet started dragging our dead dog out of the room before we left the room. It was a very uncomfortable experience.

  • John McGehee

While truly caring about me and my cat, Dr. Hayk applied good medical science and logic in his diagnosis. He achieved excellent results. Reasonable pricing, too.
