Posting this Google review 12 days after this experience. I had sent an email to this bakery, in which I had no response. Let’s share with the public so they too don’t waste their time. I just wanted to share my first experience with visiting your bakery. I had been following you on instagram and that’s where I saw all the wonderful breads and deserts. Everything looked amazing. I finally had the opportunity today, to come down with my family. I loved the bakery! So cute! Lots of great things in it, however I was so disappointed by the food. Both my mom and I had purchased your veal sandwiches. Mine was nice, my moms however had literally NO veal in it. More like a veggie Sandwich. So that was very disappointing. I had ordered the cheesecake brownie as well as the lobster tail (roll) desert. You had two kinds in the show case. One with a white topping, and the other with a chocolate topping. The young man working the desert counter was unknowledgeable about your pastries. I had asked for the Nutella one that I had seen on instagram. It was not available. And the sign said they were both custard. But one had chocolate. So I asked about that. He said it’s just the topping. They are custard. Well, I sit down to eat it with my children and it’s not custard, it’s chocolate, and it was so hard it was impossible to eat. I was under the assumption this was a flaky pastry. I was almost ripping my teeth out trying to bite through. For $4.50 I expected it to be custard and a fresh pastry at that. I saved the cheesecake brownie for this evening. I went to cut it for my three children. There was nothing “cheesecake” about this. The brownie was so dry it crumbled. Not a nice first impression of a bakery. My expectations were much higher. And I expected much fresher. How old were these desserts? I also had purchased two arancini’s and the sausage roll. Again disappointed. The sausage roll had no flavour, and the arancini, no cheese, Mildest flavours ever. For an Italian bakery, again expected so much more. Everything looked amazing, but lacked in taste. I spent $50 at your bakery today and there’s not one thing that I was happy with. I have some spicy cacciatore to try and I pray that’s decent. UPDATE. Cacciatore is horrible! Not spicy what so ever and literally tastes like nothing, wow! Also your baguette selection. I only seen a sour dough, and multigrain bread. No white, calabrese. That was originally the reason for this visit. So I spent a bunch of money, and didn’t even get what I had come down there for. Just wanted to share some feedback because overall the experience was anything but acceptable. Thank you.

Truscott Bakery is a locally owned Italian Bakery, Hot Food Kitchen, and Grocery store. The grocery store has imported Italian grocery items, oils, etc. You can expect to find a really good selection of dry pasta, cheeses, and frozen items. While I haven't tried any of the hot food table items, it looks very good, and is reasonably priced as well. I had the opportunity to try both the espresso based drinks and some of their pastries. Their espresso is a classic Italian style and it comes served in a very nice glass (takeaway available). It's also very reasonably priced at $2, making it much cheaper than other places like Starbucks, and considerably better as well. The cappuccino is also very good, and the presentation is amazing. The Americano was also good as well, but I would highly recommend the espresso alone, first. My one complaint would be the cup handle itself is rather small, making it difficult to drink at times. The pastries are very well made as well, and will definitely be coming back! We had an assortment of cheesecakes, macaroons, and cannolis. All were absolutely amazing. We also bought some of their freshly baked bread. I haven't had it yet but it's so soft and smells amazing, cannot wait to try it. This is a great local establishment. The store is a bit on the small side so it can be tricky to get through when there are a lot of patrons inside, however. Lots of parking in the lot, as it's part of a larger plaza. They also have a great patio area as well, so there is ample seating on the outside, and some on the inside.

My dad went into the bakery to pick up a few items, one of them being a mild salami. The shelf ticket price was stated as $10.99, but when he got up to the register the item had magically become $2.00 more expensive. The cashier LINA notably made a face while scanning the item but clearly chose to ignore the incorrect price or do anything about it. When my dad was handed his receipt he saw the price was listed as $12.99 and informed Lina that the price was incorrect and asked for the mistake to be corrected. She told him that the price was not wrong and and she didn’t make any mistake. My dad then asked to speak with the manager and she stated the manager couldn’t help. It should be noted that the $2.00 is not the main issue but rather that the cashier LINA and her manager couldn’t care less about their mistake towards a paying customer. And with a receipt that says “No returns, refunds or exchange” you would think that the company takes the accuracy of their items prices very seriously. Either way we are very disappointed.

I come here a couple of times a month and the products are first class and the place is always well kept however when waiting in line for cakes someone walked in front and was served ahead of me while she stared blankly into the selection I asked for my choice it was not much and was told that she was helping the aforementioned lady so I politely mentioned I have been waiting for several minutes and she served me and I paid for my entire order over $40 on baked goods and it was obvious I needed another bag and was told they are 10 cents, I said seriously after spending $40 you want another 10 cents. I get attitude and was begrudgingly handed a bag and won’t be in to much of a hurry to go back there some customer appreciation and some pleasantry would not go amiss here.

I decided to finally visit this place since I'd heard only good things from friends and colleagues. Specifically, I thought I'd check out their bakery I'd heard so much about. I tried 7 pastries (2 cannolis, strawberry cheesecake, a strawberry tart, tiramisu, some sort of chocolate fluff crunch pastry, and the cream puff). The majority of the pastries were disappointing. The strawberry cheesecake was bland and dry and most of the other desserts just didn't taste as good as you'd have expected. I'll say that the canolis were the only pastries that were acceptable along with the strawberry tart. Overall, quite disappointed especially since they weren't exactly cheap either. If you're going to try something, I'd try the canolis. Probably get other desserts and pastries elsewhere.

Review is only for the patisserie: If you love good quality desserts, especially Italian ones, get them here. I was expecting a lot of satisfaction just based off the rating and was still so so pleasantly surprised that they lived up to the hype. Tasty, fresh and very very beautiful! You can find a lot of the delicious traditional Italian pastries. I love all sorts but a very special callout for the Pistachio Cannolis. In caps because it is well deserved. Also got a cake, again super delicious and fresh. Their selection does sell out really early in the day for the more popular items but still have a good variety later in the day too. Completely out of the way for me and worth every minute of snail paced traffic! Can't wait to come back to try the Cafe bar and other pastries.

Hands down my favourite bakery right now. Top picks for me are: 1) Calabrese bread 2) Cannolis 3) Chicken focaccia sandwich 4) Their fresh made biscotti 5) The butter croissants ... I probably spend $300 a week here sometimes... oh and the ready-made lasagna is amazing to take home for dinner... if you’re coming here to just try something small - you need to try the cannolis. Outside of the amazing food - it’s a family run bakery with amazing staff. They’re friendly and helpful - and make great suggestions when I’m looking for something different. Dom introduced me to the focaccia sandwich and I’ve had it 3 times in the last two weeks - I would post a picture of it now but I ate it all before thinking about writing this review. Check them out - highly recommended.

I'm a regular. The location is clean, service is friendly. Their breads are fresh and satisfying. I love the fried chicken from the hot table, it's something I crave. The wedges are a bit too salty for my taste buds, but there are other options. The deli meats and cheeses are reasonably priced and there is a variety to choose from. The pastries are delicious. My favorite desserts are the triple chocolate mousse and whenever I'm lucky and they happen to have them-vanilla cake slices. I went the day after Canada day, they had delicious vanilla cake slices with custard filling, a light icing that was not too sweet. I was very satisfied and hope they make it a regular item some day. Overall, this is a wonderful bakery and delicatessen, I highly recommend.

Ordered an 8" square St. Honore cake for a very special family birthday. The cake was a disaster. I was surprised to find a thick & hard wafer on top of the cake with a thin layer of cream over it, which made it impossible to plant candles. And how do you cut the thick wafer topped cake without squishing everything out from under it? Each serving looked like a dogs breakfast. This was easily the worst cake I ever bought. Only the cream & chocolate filled pastry puffs were delicious - but for $60 they were pricey, wouldn't you say? Not recommended.

Best in the area. Deli sandwiches, hand crafted with 3 choices of deli & 3 choices of CHEESE. great selection for hot plate lunches. 30 pack free run eggs look and taste like fresh farm grown eggs. All this and we didn't even get to the bakery or dessert bar or coffee bar.... Anything your sweet tooth desires is fresh and ready, with a perfect espresso to compliment your snack. Thank you team for all the inviting smiles and warm happiness.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this delightful Italian bakery, and I couldn't be happier with the experience! The aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries greeted me as I walked in, and I was immediately transported to Italy. The pastries were heavenly, with a perfect balance of flakiness and sweetness, and the bread was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The staff was warm and welcoming, making the whole visit even more enjoyable. This bakery is an absolute gem, and I can't wait to return for more of their delicious treats! Five stars without a doubt!

Tasty food. Not the best customer service. However, the staff is extremely skimpy with portions - it’s insane. I purchase the pasta and cream sauce often and can’t believe almost every time they have been serving me only 8-9 small noodles in each container One time, I went there a little before 6pm and grabbed the last portion of noodles. The staff member left 3 noodles behind on the hot table instead of adding the last of them to my already small portioned container…… I was shocked Everytime I purchase food from the hot table I feel unsatisfied and a bit ripped off to be honest.

I just had one pistachio cannoli, one regular cannoli, and 2/3 of a tiramisu slice. It was my first trying cannoli. The flavour of the ricotta cheese was very prominent. I found the flavour profile to be very interesting, especially with the pistachio. The pistachio was a stand out star, and I love the crunchy pistachio bits. The first bite of the tiramisu may have changed the trajectory of my life. My favourite component of the tiramisu was the cream layer at the very top; so light and airy. I am all sugared out but I have no regrets!

  • Amirah Zubair

I’ve gotten their pastries a bunch of times and have enjoyed almost all the ones I’ve tried. Their cannolis are the absolute best when you get them fresh and the shell is still crunchy. However, their donuts were a major disappointment. I tried 6 different flavours and all of them were so dry. They also didn’t have that much flavour. The strawberry-filled donut hardly had any filling. And the dough wasn’t soft and fluffy. I usually love Truscott Bakery and their pastries are delicious but their donuts definitely need improvement :(

  • マリアム

What a great place!!! Awesome customer service, I especially loved Mirella!! She was so accommodating and helpful and was absolutely wonderful in letting us know that some of the pastries we picked out contained alcohol and gelatin! She even went back to ensure the others suited our dietary requirements! Their cakes look absolutely delicious as well and, if that wasn't enough, they also have an awesome instagram page where they post about their latest baked creations. Lovely experience!

  • Ayesha Madan

Really good pistashio cornetto!! Full of pistashio, and light as air. The ricotta and spinach pastry and coffee drinks left much to be desired. The pastry was hollow (minimal spinach and ricotta), the cappuccino was cold unfortunately, and the americano was not strong at all (tasted like drip coffee). Expected more from an italian bakery! Still four stars because of the pastries and the wiiiide range of groceries. Would return for more dessert, but not for coffee or savoury pastries!

  • A O

The bread is fresh and really good. The pastries like the canolies are ok. I ordred a lemon and blueberry custom cake and was better than I expected. They have Summer's gelato as well which is awesome! Their prices are lower than Eatly and Pusateri's for the same brands ( ex. Chocolate, vinegar etc). They don't have a lot of frozen gourmet pizza options. It would be great if they could sell libertto frozen pizza. They also have an indoor and outdoor Cafe.

  • Sam

Prices have gone up and customer service has declined. $3.00 per cannoli and $4.50 per tiramisu ... $21.00 of overpriced pastries later and the girl wouldn't even cut the tiramisu slices in half before putting them in a box. She referred me to a knife where I can do it myself. There were only 2 pieces ... how difficult would it have been to use your knife to cut them in half? Great service! Amazing how a simple thing can cost you a long-standing customer.

I order cake for my daughter birthday for 10 people and they did a cake for 4-5 people and I payed $60 just for that cake because they said is customer cake , I had to buy another cake there for $30 to have cake for all my guests I asked to speak with the manager but he or she never comes to speak with me…In that moment I felt so bad and never ever anymore I will order a cake here. They ruined my daughter’s birthday cake

Came on Saturday 9:30am to discuss a customized cake for my child’s 1 year birthday. Would’ve taken prob 5 min at most, and I had already called in advance and was told to come any day but Wednesdays because the pastry chef is off. I was told it’s too busy for him to discuss a customized cake so he wont come out and speak with me. I’ll be getting a customized cake elsewhere cause this is a tad ridiculous and I wasted my time.

My truscott bakery experience was amazing! I went there this week to get a coffee and some deli meats. The lady’s at the meet counter are great! The lady serving me was so nice I had to ask her name and it was Leena. The bakery is set up great with a real Europe/italian feel!

Don’t see why so much hype about this place. It’s mediocre offering of fresh breads and buns with some low quality take out foods. People need to understand that all takeouts from grocery stores likes this one are foods that are about to expire or expired and preparing them and selling them in hot table is way of diverting those foods from landfill. Not sure why people like this place it’s okay but not the best.

  • Janice O'Connor

I was there about a week ago and had the daily special. It was perfect. It exactly hit the spot, with the pear cheese ravioli. (most of it was gone before I remembered to snap a pic) It's been years since I've been there. The people were very nice and helpful, even on a hot spring Saturday afternoon. Definitely a location to return to for fresh made food and various imported groceries.

  • Maria Lorna

The pistachio croissant was the only good item we truly enjoyed. The chicken in the chicken sandwich was also tasty but the whole wheat bun was too thick for that type of sand which, it needs to be on a ciabatta bun in my opinion. The pork sausage had a licorice after taste; very strange and our taste buds did not like that at all. Kids enjoyed the donuts, they were ok — nothing special.

  • Victor Olvera

Some of the best Italian pastries and cakes in the area. I have tried several cakes and they are delicious, with a lot of personality and not too sweet. I highly recommend the place.

I visit here often, for everything from a little sweet treat (especially the Portuguese custard tarts), to the fresh bread (the weekend sourdough rocks!), to the hot table (love the sausage rolls and the pasta offerings). I ordered my first cake from them recently, and unsurprisingly it was also excellent! Thank you for helping to make the every day special.

I’m so done with this place. We bought a few blueberry filled donuts a few weeks ago & they were good. Went back today & bought one blueberry & one strawberry filled. Paid $6.78 & they’re stale! Honestly, this bakery is such a scam. They’re so money hungry, their prices are so high compared to other bakeries & they don’t even price day olds accordingly.

Excellent bakery and restaurant east of Clarkson Community Center. In the same plaza as Food Basics. A little disorganized and short staff for a Saturday afternoon. We were in line and the couple behind us got served before we did. Fortunately, the server was finished with the couple ahead of us. Tiramisu is one of the best we've had.

  • Pan Mittal

Amazing bakery with ton of healthy options of food including bread, bagels, dips, meats, pasta, etc. They have nice little cafe inside as well you can sit, enjoy coffee and small sweet treats. The staff is really friendly and helps you out with stuff. Only thing I would love is some nutrition info on the baked breads, bagels.

This place is amazing. Love everything I have ever purchased and everyone there is helpful and welcoming. I always stop in to pick up goodies whenever we are going visiting. We are so lucky to have such a great place in our neighborhood. A million thanks for everything and to everyone, you all work so hard and it shows.

  • Allison Sajid (Alli)

A genuine Italian bakery with a variety of sweet pastries and desserts. They also sell groceries, deli and have a little cafe. The espresso is bold and smooth in a latte. They have dairy free options as well! Service is excellent as well, and the store is filled with interesting European products. Highly recommended!

  • NHC Reyes

Wide variety of Italian goodies from grocery items and hard-to-find stuff, freshly baked breads and desserts (they have the BEST cannoli's I have tried among a few Italian bakeshops--creamy but not too sweet, crunchy, flakey crust) as well as ready to eat food which you can enjoy when you're not up to cooking.

  • Fil M

First time visiting and very impressed. Went close to closing time was my only regret. Very clean establishment. The chicken and Alfredo pasta I bought to go was delicious. Their portions are great and so many baked goods to choose from! Lots of Italian ingredients and food. Looking forward to visiting again.

  • Wilfred Tam

Delicious bakery though a but pricey. Would highly suggest the cannoli. Best cannoli I've had. The croissants and fresh baked bread was great as well. The fresh foods were okay though the chicken parm sandwich didn't have hot peppers and was a bit bland but would go back for the fresh bread and pastries.

  • Pat D

This bakery has many regulars customers who enjoy the fresh baked bread ,pastries cakes and traditional sweets. Various selections at the hot tables. Many come just to sit inside or on the patio sipping on their espressos ,lattes or cappuccino. The staff are all very friendly treat you like family.

Such a nice little gem in Clarkson. Every time I come home, I visit here for the amazing desserts and of course the fresh bread. But they have so many amazing food options and you can even grab a coffee to go. The staff is always friendly and efficient. I can't recommend this bakery enough.
