My GF and I were really looking forward to trying this place. Went at 8:30 on Friday night. Our server forgot our drink order and didn't come back for a long time. Someone else brought our app, Scotch Egg (one of my favs), but it was so overcooked, it was rock hard and crumbling. Didn't see another server until our mains. My steak and ale pie was tasty, but very small portion, maybe 3oz of meat with gravy, but my scamps (veg) were stone cold. My GF got the fish & chips (their signature dish according to the menu), it was so overcooked, like dark dark dark and dry. Server was no where to be found so we managed to get the attention of the bartender after about 5 minutes. She kindly came over and I showed her the egg and the fish and she immediately apologized because it was so obviously overcooked. A manager arrived and was very apologetic. They took the fish and left the fries, and took my plate with the cold veg, she came back with the same pie on a new plate (I new it was a new plate because it was still wet from the dishwasher) and said they were reheating my veg. A new piece of fish was delivered but her fries were cold at this point, 10 minutes later my veg arrived but I was already done eating the pie. They offered a free desert but at that point we just wanted to leave. Her fish was ok the second time, but it would have been nice to have the whole meal together. Avoid the scotch egg definitely not worth the $14 unless you like dry and crumbly. Super disappointing and I feel it could have been handled better. It would also be cool if the server would check on the table every now and then. Bill was $61, $71 with tip. We came home and had leftover lasagna. Too bad I really liked the atmosphere, but service and food quality too poor to spend hard earned money on.

Went there today (Wed Aug 18th) with four friends for lunch. Had a great time. No pressure to eat and leave. Waitress was Debbie, and she was great - looked after us, was fun, etc. We ordered: - one deep fried zucchini - two fish burgers - one fish tacos - one beer battered fish & chips, plus various drinks. Food was excellent - my dish - fish and chips - were nicely done. Would have liked a few more chips, and somehow missed the tartar sauce (could have been my mistake). One of our group ordered dessert, and it looked sinful. He did not complain. I also ordered some take-out - two scotch eggs plus one chicken curry pie and one steak & ale pie with mushrooms. I opted for mashed potatoes for both pies and they both came with beeps. Steak & ale pie also came with gravy. Pies, potatoes, and beeps were delicious but would suggest gravy be included with mashed potatoes. For dinner, we reheated pies, potatoes, and beeps in microwave. Would be helpful to have chef’s suggestions as to how high and for how long. I did 5 minutes at 50% for the steak & ale pie and, although it was very good, it was a bit dry. So, maybe some more gravy. Potatoes were delicious. Scotch eggs were a bit dry. Maybe they’re just not suited for take-out and re-heating. We’ve had them before, when dining indoors at The Glen, and they were delicious. All in all, another great experience. Keep it up Debbie!

We wanted to try The Glen based on its reviews on the fish and chips. The dinner was for a party of 8 and at a cost just under $300.00. I'm sorry, but we will not be going back to this place. The Fish and chips were very oily(Battered x5 orders) or way to crispy dry(Breaded x1 order) without any taste until you covered it with tarter sauce. The other 2 orders was Caesar Salad with grilled chicken and Traditional Burger. The Salad was $18.30, and again the grilled chicken had no taste. The Burger looked like it might have been bought from a box store and cooked from frozen. Special coffees were ordered, with menu prices of $9.25 each and was charged $12.25. The service was great, and staff very friendly. Maybe the cook might have had a bad day, we will not be returning.

Party of 10 for lunch, excellent all around. The Fish and Chips is the best in the city and so are the Deep Fried Pickles if that's your thing. Large draught selection and great choices for wine and spirits. Lots of Scottish charm and music and tons of memorabilia adorn the walls. There is a bar side for the more lively type and a restaurant side for the casual diners. Great service and will certainly be back.

Looking for a delicious bite to eat while enjoying drinks with special company and listening to live music? The Glen has the perfect atmosphere and food just for that! Their famous fish and chips are amazing! Made super crispy and steaming hot. Their fish and chips pair especially well with their fries and a nice drink! We ordered two orders of their classic battered fish and one order of their battered Cajun fish. The size of their fish was plenty enough! Amazing atmosphere and service. Definitely recommend if you’re looking to get a taste of great Scottish food and amazing atmosphere with live music!

The Glen is amazing! The food was delicious and quickly served. I had the Yorkie bowl (tender meat, topped with mashed potatoes, onions and gravy for the top all on a bed of a huge Yorkshire pudding) and it was so good. Another in my party had the fish tacos and they said they were delicious as well. Everyone is extremely friendly and personable. There is live music sometimes, but you can be seated on the side of the restaurant that is a bit quieter if that’s not your thing. The restaurant isn’t huge, but it does have high quality food. There’s decent parking since it’s by a small strip mall. I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be back!

Ohhh, that was so disappointing! Years ago, The Glen did a great fish & chips. Based on what was served to us to day, not so much anymore. The battered fish was golden but the coating was a soggy glove around the fish, when it should have been an nice and crispy exterior. And the ratio of breading to fish for the breaded fish was close to 50/50 - more breading than fish. The saving grace was the fries were good. The grand total for two meals and two drinks was over $70 (with tip and taxes) - yikes! Based on this visit, we'll not be going back anytime soon. Too bad, because the menu was extensive. Maybe next time we'll go for something less complicated like a burger.

A little disappointed with our experience. We got the mini pies as an appetizer and they were cold/frozen in the middle. I bet it was microwaved. The main dishes were good! We got the Haggis and the fish tacos. Only problem is mine came with fries when I ordered mashed potatoes, and there were 2 fish tacos when we ordered only 1. Service was nice, but slow, as tables after us got served with food and the cheque before us. It was a busy night so that's okay and we weren't in a hurry. I'm hoping it was an off night. I'll try it again, but our experience this first time left a sour taste in my mouth. Hopefully next time it will be better if we come back.

May 17, 2023 - A 15 person post burial gathering at this wonderful restaurant. It was 3pm. We made a reservation many days in advance. June, the Manager, contacted me the day before to confirm, well done June. Everything was wonderful; from the many, many staff who coordinated to serve us food, to our dear young man who took our orders (apologies, forgot his name). It was a big gathering, with much food and beverages. Everyone was happy and well beveraged and fed. We took my late father to The Glen many times in his late years and he loved the Scottish brogue, so of course, this would be where his post burial would occur. Blessings on all the dear staff and owners of this amazing venue. May you all thrive.

A family run restaurant that is both a traditional style Pub and also a sit down family restaurant (choose the side you want for the atmosphere) This is one of our favorite places to go. Great selection of imported beers from the home island on the other side of the Atlantic. Amazing fish and chips and even more amazing Yorkie Bowl. Support a local family owned place and give it a try today. We do a date night there biweekly.

Just moved to the area and tried The Glen around 2pm on a Wednesday. I was SO surprised by this place! The staff I met were easily the warmest and most welcoming I've ever encountered, so cheery and enthusiastic. I tried my first ever Scotch Egg. It was quite good, the house-made tomato marmalade was odd yet it worked well with it. I really don't know much about Scottish cuisine, but I had thought a Scotch Egg was supposed to be runny yolk'd and unpierced, this one was hard yolk'd and sliced in half - a nice presentation. The Yorkie Pie was phenomenal, it's gravy was top notch. Entirely satisfied with this place, I expect I will return many times. Give it a try.

Great place to hangout, listen to music and enjoy the food. Loved their Burgers, Fish and Chips that we ordered as Take-out. Cool place to hangout with your friends and family. Lots of drinking options available too. The patio is open during the summer months and early fall. A great place to be specially on the weekend.

The food tastes great and the outdoor dining is lovely especially on a nice evening. The staff could be more friendly and the wait time to get your food was rather long. Our waitress wasn’t too interested in serving us. But was very chatty with one other table which may have been the bosses. If she gave the same energy to us it could have been a wonderful experience.

This was our 3rd visit in 6 months. Twice in 2 days. These pictures are from today. Food was great hence why we went back again. Yesterday's server remembered us and gave us a great seat. I had a pan seared fish. Delicious!! My wife had a Salisbury steak which also was delicious. I just wanna say that I will recommend this place to anyone. Please give it a try you will not be disappointed. If you are you don't like food.

Awesome food at a great price! I was really pleased with my experience at The Glen. Our server was wonderful, as was all the other staff we interacted with. The food portions were large, especially given the reasonable pricing. The onions were quite underdone for my liking, and that would be my only criticism (which I would mention next time). We went on a Thursday for the date night special, but found that there was a limited menu for that promotion that we were unaware of (this wasn't mentioned on the website), and just ordered from the regular menu. Overall, a great experience and we will certainly go again.

  • Robert Norris

Had the 2 fish and chips dinner. One piece beer battered and the other curry breaded. The portion was absolutely huge and both pieces were fantastic. Ordered a side salad which was simple but very fresh and excellent as well. Finished off with a piece of their lemon cheesecake, and it to was very tasty. Very impressed and wasn't quite expecting such a great experience. Will return for sure when I'm up here in Ottawa.

Voted "Best fish 'n chips in Ottawa" for a reason...because they're awesome! The service was AMAZING. Very helpful, polite, and fast. The pieces were very generous in size, and they have a great selection of batter. Tried the following two: Traditional batter -- light batter Cajun breaded -- a little spicy but very flavorful Next time I'll try the beer batter which looked golden and crispy. The fries were good but I felt like the portion could be increased a little. Great place, great food, wish they had a location closer to centre town so I can visit more often!

  • Neil T

Really good spot. We only had a few munchies but they were all delicious. The batter on the fried pickles and zucchini was thick, crispy and not greasy at all. The sausage roll was a bit dry and overcooked for my liking but that just might be personal preference. It was served with HP sauce but I found it overpowered the flavours too much. I would have preferred something like a beer/honey mustard. The star of the show was the mini Scottish meat pies appetizer. Our server was awesome! Definitely want to go back again.

I want so badly for this restaurant to do well, but they have consistently demonstrated poor quality control with very tasty food. Generally if you order their nachos there’s about a 50/50 chance for them to be burnt. That was a chance I’ve been willing to take [up until now] because their food is so good. However, I think today I’ve reached my final straw: we received nachos paired with no sour cream and a fish sandwich instead of the chicken sandwich that we ordered. Be warned, you’re playing with fire if you order delivery from Glen Scottish.

  • Taz Asadi

Ordered fish and chips, and a Yorkie bowl. Both were delicious. Great service and ambience. Nothing to criticize honestly. If I want to be a little picky I'd say it's a bit pricey. We paid almost 100$ for two ppl having ordered two meals and two drinks. No apps or desserts...so yeh a bit pricey. But all in all a great place to dine in.

The service left a lot to be desired . Yes it was busy . It took about 25 minutes to place my order and that was not even with my server . Two tables were seated after I placed my order and both had their meals before me . One was even a group of 8 or 10. When my food finally arrived almost an hour after arriving it was hot and delicious . I will not be going back with the lack of service .

Very friendly service. Great atmosphere. Free refills on drinks which not many places do these days. AMAZING food. I had a Scotch egg appetizer and haggis as my entree. For those who've never had haggis before, it tastes like really good sausage and I highly recommend it. The neeps (turnip and carrot) were like my mom used to make. Probably the best fish and chips place in the region. They offer 2 pieces but DON'T do it! They are huge. Many choices of batters or no batter at all. Many other food items as choices as well. Taking it back to my family roots. The food is honestly so amazing! I had an appointment this afternoon close to The Glen. I decided to pop in for a quick bite beforehand. The waitress was quick, friendly and always helpful. The food came out fast, hot, and so delicious. The waitress even got my bill early for me because I was in a rush. I really wish there were more places like this restaurant. It’s everything you would look for. The best fish and chips in Ottawa and surrounding for sure.

The food was tasty, but the veggie pot pie could have been more heartier (personal opinion but would've subbed the edamame/red pepper for peas/mushrooms/chickpeas/cauliflower). Overall, we had a good experience and our server was so kind and helpful, so would definitely recommend and return. Also, heard that they may be bringing more veggie options in the future (like vegetarian gravy for the poutine)! So that's something to look out for next time :)

Was drawn in by good reviews and a dish near to my heart, Stuffed Yorkshire pudding. Unfortunately, the dish and service came up a bit short. While the beef was tender, and mash smooth, the onions were a bit plain and the Yorkie barely recognizable. Service was pretty prompt and to the point, but forgot a water which I asked for twice. I may give them another shot as the fish and chips does still look tempting.

We were met at the door by a lady with an awesome Scottish accent, and were promptly seated. We were seated very close to Jordan (the live entertainment from 3-6pm- He played an awesome mix of music, and not too loud to impair our table conversation). Our host was excellent, traditional Scottish meal was served hot and was delicious (even the neeps- basically parsnip and carrots, I believe…) On the way out we purchased a gift card for our daughter- Great Place!

Good Scottish fare at reasonable prices. Went during happy hour when beers and wings were cheaper. Agree with other reviewers that portions are a little smaller than I would have liked for dinner, but very delicious. Convenient spot to go before a hockey game. Awesome casual dining restaurant that serves Scottish fare. The scotch eggs were perfect. Crispy crunchy outside with soft egg on the inside, along with the tomato marmalade, just perfect. The haggis was creamy and had a hint of pepperiness. They had tasty neeps as a side (mashed up turnip mixed with carrots). It is a location I am very happy to share and will be returning to the Glen for these hearty classics!

  • Grant Kummen

Pleasantly surprised! My meal wasnt nearly as dense as I thought it would be. Still not sure what "neeps* are, but know I don't care for them very much. The Yorkie bowl, on the other hand, I cared a great deal for! Steak was tender and juicy, Yorkshire was crisp and delicious... Hearty gravy and mashed potatoes... Rounded out by their Scottish "flyte" of beers. All told, a very satisfying meal!

  • TROOL Social Media

Starting with the good....service was great and servers were very friendly. Cons: Fish was overdone and dry and was plated with burnt side down, so we wouldn't notice. I didn't really like the thick cut fries, but everybody has their own preference for the thickness of fries. I didn't complain to servers because they were so nice. Will not return here...at least not for the fish.

Fish and chips were perfect. Just like my Welsh mother used to make. It was quiet as it was an early dinner for us, but nothing suffered for it being early. I am comparing to other experiences in other restaurants where we had an early dinner and food was not what was expected and service was lacking. Neither of these things happened at the Glen-it was perfect!

Charge extra to sub tomato (normally subs for extra protein) with mushrooms. Wasn’t notified for an up charge for hot sauce (which is free normally). We didn’t tip because communications didn’t happen. A guy(maybe a supervisor?) came and asked why we didn’t tip!?! That’s a bit disrespectful I believe. Won’t be coming back. Hope they improve…

Ordered the chicken sandwich which I understand isn't their thing, also asked for no spice which means just no sauce at all...just be warned if you want a chicken sandwich that isn't spicy just don't get it here, go for the fish and chips instead. Update - I contacted you via email and never heard anything back after your initial response.

We've been here many times. Great service, very pleasant and fish and chips very good. We frequently pick.up the chowder for mother in law who's in a nursing home. It's the one sure thing that she will eat these days. We like it too. We've done meals at all times, especially the lunch specials.

I've been going to the Glen for decades as it moved around and have never been disappointed. It is the goto place for the best fish and chips in town. Staff are always great and they have a good selection of craft beers. Wonderful pub experience you won't be disappointed.

I would guess they changed there fish supplier…. We all ordered fish and chips and we all felt it was trash. The fish is definitely different and not for the good. We will not be returning.

Incredible food. What a place. So cool. However only complaint was we had to ask to turn up the lights: to the owner or management, no reason to have it so dark where you can’t read the menu at 530 pm! Other than that was great, especially after they made it a bit less dim

The fish is only haddock, not hailibut or pickerel. The fries are supposed to be fresh cut, but for me they sure resembled undercooked frozen fires that I can get anywhere. Quite disappointed.

My wife Carol and I had a great supper meal here. Waiter Andrew is very outgoing and a pleasure to meet. A slight suggestion, change up the dress code and make him wear a kilt. Oh yes, the food is very good as well.

First time visiting this place. Foods are definitely delicious. We just thought the Haggis would be a bit bigger? But they were tasty regardless. Yorkshire bowl is huge and filling. Drinks were made perfectly. Great ambiance. We will be back.

Ok so to get straight to the point, The Glen has the BEST Fish & Chips I've had. I absolutely love Fish & Chips so I try it out wherever and whenever I can, and The Glen just takes the throne and the crown for being the best at their craft.

  • Jeff Dunlop

My wife and I went into The Glen just for a drink while we waited for our daughter who was nearby in Stittsville. We saw the menu and decided we needed to try the food. We both had their fish & chips, which were amazing. We had the panko

We love the Glen. The fish and chips are outstanding and it is our go to meal. It is always fresh, tasty and cooked perfectly. It should be noted that the fries are fresh cut and this is not true everywhere you go.

  • Nicole Thibodeau

The atmosphere was delightful and the food was fantastic. I had the Cajun pan seared fish with neeps and it was amazing. The dill tartar sauce was delicious. Was a very pleasant surprise for a Sunday night dinner.

Amazing pub. If you love fish and chips this is the place to go. The breaded pickles and zucchini are some of the best I’ve ever had. Been three times since I’ve moved to Stittsville.

Pretty good food. The mango chicken was ok, the fruit was not super ripe but kind of expected in the winter. The meat pies were good and crunchy with a nicely seasoned filling.
