An amazing selection of Dutch licorice and cheeses, however their sale of horse meat is rather off putting, to quote M*A*S*H, "It's a tragedy people have to eat horses, they're beautiful animals. You ever take a peek at a cow or a pig? They're ugly. We're doing them a favor by eating 'em. Saves 'em the agony of looking at their reflections in the trough every morning. But a horse, that's a noble beast. Why, in the cavalry, a man's steed was his best friend, a real companion. Where do people get off making pork chops out of them? Too much killing in this world, too much death. No respect for people, for tradition, for life. The whole world is spinning down the tubes and nobody even seems to notice." The last sentence seems more prescient now more than ever.

Friendly staff and great selection of Dutch themed products including blue and white porcelain and orange apparel. They offer a lot of imported products from the Netherlands like droppies and other popular Dutch candy, tons of cookies, stroopwafels, and cooking products. There's also a meat and cheese counter, and a small bakery section. There's candy sold by the case or bulk sized bags. There's also household goods like cleaning brushes, dish clothes, and tea cozies. I love coming here to load up on cookies and candy. We also pick up ingredients to make boerenkool, nasi goreng, meatball soup, and other dishes. 10/10 would recommend if you're looking for Dutch specific things or European products.

Very uncomfortable experience trying to shop here. We could not even browse, as we were quite openly followed up and down the aisles by not one but BOTH employees at the store. I understand the store-owner keeping a watchful eye out, but there is a discreet and diplomatic way of doing that. I recommend greeting customers as they enter, for example, and asking them if they need any assistance. To make it so obvious that we were being watched was insulting and off-putting, and I could not wait to leave. Might have cost them a sale, but we'll never know. I definitely will not be back. Costco's got a better price on Beemster anyway ;)

Always a delight to stop in at the Dutch Shop. It's a reliable source for Dutch treats and specialty foods and the staff are wonderful. Stopped today to pick up initial letters in milk chocolate and there is a plentiful supply at present, but don't leave it to late! I needed help to find Droste pastilles (also in good supply), and when I said that I'd found what I needed, but should look at cheese, the staff member mentioned it was on special. I asked if spiced gouda (cumin) was included (it is) and next thing you know I'm headed out with half a wheel of cheese. Totally worth it!

Nice shop to give dutch products you cant find anywhere else. Feels like home :) Availability of products varies depending on reapprovisioning dates but overal a pleasant experience! People serving the shop are very kind, it has typical dutch cookies, sauces, cheeses, meat,, chips, drinks, spices packs for Nasi and Bami, Hagelslag, Klompen, speculas and what not... :-) Update : olie bollen mix is available!

  • Ron Mietkewicz

Came in today to pick up some supplies and was greeted by a sign asking to use hand sanitizer when I first walked in. I am so happy to see people taking Covid so serious. If we all do we can get back to a new normal that much faster. I should talk about the great food and service I received as well but if you have been here before then you know they are so friendly here and have great food.

Very nice store, very cozy. Chalk full of Dutch goodies, souvenirs, a deli counter at the back and fresh baked stuff at the side. I’ve loved coming here my whole life. My one and only complaint is that they don’t have handicap accessible entrance. The staff will help customers get in if they see you struggling, but I feel like that just shouldn’t be a problem in the first place.

  • Judy Shepplt

Most of the staff is very friendly! They have a great selection of meats cheeses and other Dutch food items. If you want to try some real Dutch pastries this is the place to try them as you can buy them by the box or individually. The raisin buns are excellent in always fresh. On the downside I find the store sometimes a little crowded and maybe a tad on the expensive side.

  • John Bakker

Great specialty store for Dutch food and small souvenirs. Great selection of delicious cheeses and meats and cookies and baking and meal ingredients and spices. Also a good selection of unique candies and drop. Everything is popular Dutch food that is worth trying. Once you try it you will be back for more. Reasonably priced and clean and all food is fresh.

Nice store in the Roseland plaza with convenient parking, to get Dutch licorice, deli, baked goods and groceries, and Indonesian selections too. This store has stayed true to the 1960's and I hope it survives as the immigrant generation in Burlington dies out. Watch out for stale-dated products on the shelf - this is a real Dutch store :)

  • Deborah Doucette

“If you’re not Dutch , you’re not much!!! As my dear grandmother would say:) Incredibly delightful store with everything Dutch from foods ,clothing & everything in between! Takes me back to Holland & cherish memories of local cuisines, dialogues & of course wooden shoes! Hup hup & enjoy this authentic, all Dutch experience!

I received my big order today from The Dutch Shop. I am a first-time customer from Gatineau, Quebec. I was eager to unwrap the jars of jams, pickles, beets and a plethora of drinks, teas that were wrapped in newspapers tightly. I am pleased with my items; I will order from The Dutch Shop again and try other various foods.

  • Charlie Sanderson

I was just saying to the staff at checkout how maybe there is a misconception about expired product with import shops like this. Doritos were expired. I'd imagine there is more food that's Not fresh. Good shop to see and try foods and product from foreign countries. FOR THE CONSUMER. CHECK THE DATES. Hehe. All love

  • Christina Vandervlist

Wonderful array of classic Dutch foods, books, music and sundries. The raisin bread and buns alone will ruin you for any other version. From rollmops (pickled herring rolls, a traditional Dutch snack item) to salted licorice, pretty much everything you could want for yourself or for a thoughtful gift is available.

  • Beth B

Great bakery section, with the best fruit pies, ever. Good deli section, and many sweets and other products the Dutch prefer. It's fun to visit, just to see what they carry. You won't come out empty handed. Four stars instead of five, because staff isn't overly friendly, until they have seen you a few times.

  • Jennie Akse

THIS PLACE IS SOOOOO GOOOD!!!!! :)))) i tried to find traditional Dutch candy and spiced cheese, but i coudnt then i came across this place and my prayers have been answered!!! idk why people rate it less than five stars. The owner is very friendly and taking good precautions to fight the COVID-19

  • Dan Smelt

I just bought a Senseo Coffee maker from the Dutch Shop. The Senseo coffee is amazing! Best coffee I ever had. The staff are great and good selection. Coffee is priced very low per cup. If you are looking for a great coffee maker act quickly I know they only have a limited supply of coffee makers.

  • Nurith Rochon

Everything Dutch. Wide selection of my favorite Dutch products such as Licorice and Stroopie. Here you will find delicious in-store baked goods, imported cheese and other traditional food items from Holland as well as a wide variety of traditional delft blue gifts (love these). Highly recommend.

  • Alison Simpson

I'm not Dutch. I was looking for a certain hard candy with the black licorice powder on the inside. I asked the a staff member and she replied I had the correct one with an annoyed tone. It was not. The store is nice with lots of products. Just best to know exactly what you are looking for.

  • Neal denHollander

Great place for dutch candy, cookies, special foods , etc. Also great for Indonesian food. They always bring in special treats for St Nicholas and new years eve ie very traditional Dutch things like chocolate letters, taai-taai, and more recently home-made olie bollen. Mmm lekker!

  • Herb Handyman

Although the ownership appears to have changed, the coffee and bacon 'n egg bagel are as good as ever! They also sell fresh bagels so you can put your own combos together. I corrected the location as "JC Bagels" (next door) but apparently it didn't take!

  • Jos Vandenburg

Good selection of Dutch food and candy ( about 40 different kinds of licorice). Meat deli is in the back, only place I know that has smoked horse meat. Good bakery, especially the pastry section. Lots of parking. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

  • Mark Berry

Poor customer service at the meat counter, being going there for years and still every so often we someone who doesn't know how to slice meat. Thos time it was with the wrapper left on! It's the only Dutch store in the area where it is a problem.

  • Yolanda Meyers

Excellent assortment of Dutch products including a deli counter, a bakery counter and an incredible selection of imported goods...gift ware, household items, pre-packaged baked items and canned and boxed goods. Friendly staff and good prices!

  • P H

Love this place! Fresh homemade bakery items, the best sausage rolls in town! Love the deli, I often go in for their beautiful sliced rare roast beef and their fresh baked bread for sandwiches. Great service, always with a smile!

  • Emily Wright

Not only is this a great Dutch bakery with a great selection, but the staff are really kind. I visited with my mother, who is a little eccentric, and Jessica helped her one-on-one, with patience and kindness. Thank you Jessica!

  • Cecile Walker

Friendly staff - always! I've been coming here for about 4 years. The food is great; the baked goods are delicious & reasonably priced; there is a large assortment of specialty groceries. I wish them best wishes for Christmas!

  • Debbs Beardall

Always worth dropping in. Fresh homemade loaves of breads, buns, baked things. Theres a deli at the back they shave off what ever meats you want. I find the pricing good. And loads of varieties of sweets!!! Unique sweets!

  • Juanita Butler (Gift2feel)

I have to say, the staff is phenomenal. So kind and knowledgeable. The place is full of Dutch products and treats. Absolutley fresh too. The store is like you are actually shopping in Holland. I love it and you will too.

  • Dorothy Land

This is a good place to find authentic dutch foods and other things. However , they don't have the famous Wijsman butter. Very unfortunate. Hopefully in the future they will have it.

  • Andrew Oosterhoff

Wide range of traditional Dutch savoury and sweet food items: Conimex, King peppermints, that sort of thing. They also have kitschy Dutch souvenirs, and a nice selection of cheeses.

  • Richard Godwin

This is the wrong name on this Google maps. The charcuterie store and bar is stupendous. A definite must try. Great cheeses, meats and wines some with a local flavor. Impressive

  • dev t

Really not much variety, not a place to buy essentials. They have some fun oddities but basically a store for when you need 1 specific ingredient for baking some European dish.

  • Brad B.

The Dutch Shop is a great little store and bakery with many authentic Dutch items and food, I highly recommend. By the way, while you're there, grab a pie, I like to eat pie.

  • Darryl Groeneveld

Great little shop. Lots of traditional Dutch items, cheeses, meats, baked goods, treats, souvenirs... brings back memories of what I used to eat and see when I was younger.

  • Anton de Zeeuw

Nice shop with a large selection of Dutch traditional and daily foods. The Dutch tourist gift selection seems a bit out of place, but the food section is up there.

  • Jeff Wright (The Happy Canadian)

Always receive a friendly greeting when I visit. There is a huge section of fresh breads, pastries, meat & cheese. The raisin bread is my personal favorite
