We had a lovely 2 night stay in the hotel. The location is perfect and there is plenty of undercover parking. Our room was clean, spacious and had a fabulous view. We loved the period features of the hotel ,and there were some lovely cosy spots to curl up by the fire and relax and enjoy a drink from Champagne Charlies. The mulled wine was delicious. The only down side was the disappointing buffet breakfast service. Despite being in the dining room an hour before the end of the breakfast service, the platters were empty, and it seemed like too much trouble for the staff to keep them replenished. We weren't the only people left wondering if there would be any breakfast! Unlike most other hotels we frequent, we were also disappointed not to find any hot food included in the buffet. We actually cancelled our dinner in the Grand Dining room on our second night incase it was as disappointing as the breakfast service and went elsewhere, as well as finding another cafe for breakfast on our second morning. That being said, the charm of the hotel is infectious and for those who love grand old world charm and atmosphere, I would highly recommend the Carrington Hotel.

I felt like I was stepping back one hundred years into a peaceful world of comfort and care. The decor is sublime, it does need a tiny touch up (I noted new painting work being done on the exterior) but it is still such a lovely tribute to hotels of the late 1800s / early 1900s. The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was a bother. My room was one of the Colonial Rooms, so I had beautiful stained-glass windows complete with window seat where I did quite a bit of reading over my 4 days there. Dinner in The Grand Dining Room was exactly that - rather grand. The food was superb. I had the seared scallops and the slow cooked lamb and both dishes were lovely. They also have quite a comprehensive wine and cocktail menu. The location is at the top of Katoomba St and close to wonderful cafes such as Pomegranate and The Yellow Deli. This hotel is the perfect location for a quite get away oh and don't miss a quick visit to the Deli and Cellars just behind the hotel - such an incredible selection of treats.

Lovely old hotel, with many intact period features. Comfortable room, good bathroom; room needed a bit better dusting. Staff were helpful and friendly. Dinner in the Grand Dining Room was very good, and the included continental breakfasts were excellent. New locked parking area was a little inconvenient for someone with mobility issues but we were able to unload bags and reload on leaving through the old garage.

Rooms and whole hotel looking a little tired . Quite a few steps at the entrance . It has the noisiest floors of any hotel i have stayed in, quite endearing initially, but soon gets old. The lift is very small and old but safe you need it to get cases up and down as stairs can be difficult it looks like bathrooms have been upgraded , but makes rooms look more rundown as styles are very different. Age and quirkiness give it some charm.

My husband, myself and four other friends had cocktails and then dinner in the Grand Dining Room, through the week. The meals were delicious and the service was excellent. Very friendly and professional staff. It was for a special occasion and we were made to feel very welcome. Beautiful inside and very clean. Will definitely go back for another visit.

The Staff on Wednesday was fantastic. The bar, main dining room, pianist and reception staff were extremely professional, cheerful and helpful in making our dining experience a memorable occasion. Thank you all, and we keep coming back because the Carrington is a unique place to experience 'old world' charm in a very real way.

Our family had a little bit of a snack or light lunch, nice tasting food and coffee. Wonderful old decor and relaxing atmosphere, very good service and well presented for the visitors and tourists from all over the world. We shall be back again some time.

The wonderful thing about it is that the building has been very well looked after and kept in a way that has a relaxing venue for a visit or an experience of a lifetime as a real old style accommodation.

Booked dinner on a Wednesday night. Because I stayed at the Carrington as a child, I was gratified to see that the large dining room was almost full. Enjoyed the delicious scallops and lamb. Service was attentive and the wine selection was especially good value. Will always visit the hotel when in the Blue Mountains. Highly recommended as comfortable, well-located, reasonably priced accommodation, offering spacious rooms, historic appeal and friendly staff.

Such a beautiful old hotel with so much history. Had lunch there, had a Reuben sandwich and a cheeseburger both were absolutely fabulous. Had a chat with the manager and he told us a bit of the history of the place, it was so nice of him to take the time to share that with us. Even if you aren't staying there it is worth going in for lunch or drink and having a look at the beautiful architecture and drink in the history.

Staff are very friendly special shout out to Carl at the front desk. Also, dinner was lovely. Riley at the restaurant had great service. Bedrooms are well sized and bathroom very modern very clean facility for a 1880s building. Highly recommend compared to other places we have stayed in Katoomba. We will be coming back.

We recently spent a night with the family here. Parents were out from the UK and we had our 3 year old son. Booked 2 rooms which included secure parking & continental breakfast. Lovely welcome from the helpfull staff, an enjoyable experience for us all, can't wait to return. Well done to all the staff that made our stay so comfortable.

The holiday was to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome with several little “touches” to make the occasion event more special. We can’t thank hotel management and staff enough for their supreme efforts. Highly recommended and would travel and stay there again without any doubt.

My son and I were introduced to this Grand place by a man I adore. We enjoyed a cold drink in the magnificent sitting room. A big thunderstorm came through just after he headed off home. So my son decided to stay in the safety of the sitting room by the window to wait it out until it was safe to walk back to our own accommodation. This place was like walking back in time... I have always adored that old world charm.

at Blue Mountain, a historical gorgious building, sadly when we came, the elevator was not in order, needed to climb to the second floor (ground floor doesn't count). still, the staff is really nice and tried to assist as much as possible. no microwave in the room. However, the staff were more than happy to use the kitchen's one.

A recent Winter stay was wonderful. Very comfortable room, except for bathroom which was literally freezing. No heating or heated towel rack. Hotel restaurant was good for dinner, although limited menu. The bar was lovely to sit in for a drink. If you enjoy history you will love this hotel.

This 140 year old hotel has to be one of the finest holiday destinations in this country. The Carrington has been beautifully restored after laying dormant and in disrepair for many years. We could not fault it in any way and the Devonshire Tea is the best we have ever had. The staff are very courteous and most helpful. We will be back. Congratulation to the management.

The Carrington exceeded our expectations! Such beautiful historic spaces: the balcony with its stained glass, the gorgeous furnishings in the lounge and billiards room, delicious food in the grand dining room, and all the staff were excellent from front desk to housekeeping. Thank you!

Comfortable relaxing seating, wonderful quiet place to chat enjoying the history and surrounds. The service was good, however the meals were a little disappointing, small portions. Probably not the place to go for a good feed but rather a place for drinks, setting and comfort.

Great old school style hotel in the blue mountains. Step back in time the rooms are great, but my wife and I loved dining in the grand dining room, real life piano player and great ambiance, and great food. Good staff, very friendly and helpful.

We booked the best suite in this hotel and super dissapointed, its very dusty! Upon entering the room we could smell a musty tone and then after thoroughly looking at furniture there was dust everywhere. We both couldn't stop coughing from the amount of dust. I wouldn't recommend this hotel based on the cost of the room for what it is.

Stayed here a few times over the years (most recently 21st July 2023 room 56) and well let's just say nothing has changed. Decor is now looking very dated and repairs urgently needed.
