I've been to almost every bike shop in this city, and after moving to the Junction recently and finding myself with an unexpected complete tire blowout on my favourite grocery-go-getter bike one day I just rolled into the nearest bike shop, The Bike Place, and met Luis for the first time. Luis fixed my little vintage Triumph up and now it feels like it is brand new. I had been told by previous mechanics that there was nothing I could do about the sliding gear shifter and that I needed a new derailleur (an unlikely investment on such an old bike that cost me so little) but Luis actually fixed it. He tightened the shifter somehow -- and it works really nicely now. He also fixed the wobbly back fender free of charge and was really super nice and not in any way condescending about the details of what was fixed and how. He explained everything with a smile. I felt like he wasn't charging me enough so I bought a lock while I was there too, and will be going to the Bike Place now for any and all future bike needs. THANK YOU Luis for bringing life back to my cute little blue upright 'clunker' bike! Highly recommend The Bike Place on Dundas West!

Edited Visit 1: -Fixed bent derailleur. -Fast. -Fairly priced. Thank you! Visit 2: -Fixed broken spoke. -Re-trued back wheel. -Tightened loose cones that I was un-aware of. -Fast repair despite busy season. Thank you! Edit 2022-08-02 Visit 3: -Replaced broken 9 speed cassette with new one. -Replaced new chain, and lengthened chain for better fit. -Reset gears correctly. Fast, and quality repair in busy season, bike accelerates even faster in lower gears than it use to. - Thank you! Edit 2022-09-15 Gave me honest advice about a problem with my chain being on incorrectly rather than taking the bike in, and charging me for something it didn't need yet. - Thank you for your honesty. Edit 2022-12-09 Replaced damaged cones, replaced freehub, and ball bearings, and reassembled. Thanks.

Lewis the owner operator has helped me keep my hard-ridden heavy commuter bikes on the road for a couple of years now. Very fair prices, very good work. But two weeks ago I took a beautiful delicate trek madone in, and he made it run better than ever. The drive train runs silent now, the gears are precise, and he showed me how to do some adjusting on my own. Great all-purpose bike shop, we knew that already, but you can also trust Lewis with the 5 figure carbon missile that you might think should only be seen to by boutiques on Bloor. Not so- Lewis is a very good mechanic. Trust him with your racers!

Amazing. This guys definitely knows what he is doing. I brought in my new (to me) 70's Peugeot road bike for what felt like it's first tune up ever. I told him about some problems I noticed and asked him to give it the full service. When I got it back, I was amazed. The whole bike felt tight and smooth, not to mention clean! It's like he took the entire bike apart and cleaned it off for me. About 2 weeks afterward I went back with my girlfriends bike. His prices are very reasonable, and he's a nice guy to do business with. I now recommended this place to everyone I know.

Louis, the store owner, was the the most knowledgeable people I have met for bikes! Not only was his service outstanding, I came in for a bike gear bag and left with a completely tuned up bike (by Louis’ keen eye). He adjusted my bike seat to the proper height, noticed my brake pads were low, helped me with co2 cartridges, a chain link, a gear bag as well as tuning up the fork. Amazing service and the best bike shop I have been to. I would recommend to all riders! His adjustments will take off at least 30 minutes off of my upcoming triathlon! Thanks Louis

Had a complete drive train failure yesterday. Louis was open at 9:30am and had both the tools and parts in stock. He took the time to walk me through the procedure to do my own repairs When I realized the chain ring bolts were seized and I had to drill them out I ran back over and he gave me a set for free… He is one of the very special businesses in the Junction that has made this community what it is… he is honest and completely fair and has sold my family skates and bikes for 20 years… THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Very reasonably priced. I neglect my ride (tune-up every 10 years). When I brought my bike home, it was like new. Requested raising the handle bars, which other bike shops said couldn't be done... fixed. Gave me a used tire to replace my original "worn out" 25 year old tire. It was worth the extra travel into the Junction. The wait was worth it. Most other bike shops have a similar wait this time of year anyhow. Thanks for the great job. You have a returning customer who will highly recommend your services.

Took my bike in, which was badly beaten from riding all winter. The thing had been put away full of salt and wetness. The chain was rusted solid, the brake cables snapped, the derailleurs seized. The owner shook his head at my negligence (completely deserved) and worked away on it. Had it running amazingly and for a very reasonable price. His attention to detail on other small matters on the bike (i.e. handlebar tape, etc.) blew me away. Will continue to bring my bike here, great service!

  • K D

Louis was very professional and knowledgeable on what was wrong with my bike literally took him 20 seconds to diagnose my bike where as I went to other bike spots in the city and wanted to charge me $200 to replace my entire brake setup and told me that my bike isn't fixable because of generic manufactured brakes.Which all that was needed was a break adjustment from inside the disc brake. I will definitely be going here for servicing I highly recommend!!

This store is a Junction landmark! I went in to get a tire fixed, thinking it would be costly and take a few days. The owner repaired my tire on the spot in only a few minutes, and explained what the problem was and how to avoid it in the future. His service was so knowledgable and helpful, and his prices extremely reasonable too! They also have an amazing selection of vintage bikes and parts. Will definitely be coming back for any biking needs.

Best bike shop in Toronto! My son had a bike day in his summer camp and we realized he had a flat tire in the morning. I went to the Bike Place (it opens at 9:30 before all other big bike shops) and the gentleman in charge fixed it within half an hour although he had a very busy day. He made my son's day. My review is not based on just this visit: it IS the place for bike repairs and maintenance. Amazing service and lots of care.

  • Katherine Bucko

I purchased a bike here last week and by mishap, my bike chain broke. I brought it in for repairs, no questions asked repaired for free with some added goodies. Despite the many other bikes waiting for tune ups, my repair was prioritized given it was a brand new bike. Super accountable to issues. I'm definitely glad to have built rapour with the owner and trust that any future issues will be handled with ease. Thank you!!

  • charles braumberger

Louis is an encyclopedia of bicycle knowledge and is willing to share this extensive knowledge. Louis has assembled, repaired, tuned and modified bicycles for me. His prices for repairs and accessories are exceptional. He guarantees everything he does or sells 100 % no questions asked. Louis is uncommonly honest and fair. If he can't fix a problem no one can and he will never steer you into unnecessary repairs.

  • Ed Tso

He is absolutely the best bike mechanic in Toronto. He is extremely knowledgeable and fix almost anything. I had purchased a fat bike with a slightly bent fork and the seller would not honor the warranty and I brought it to Louis and he fixed it with a possible chance that it couldn't be bent back. Instead of buying a new for $300 plus dollars he charged me about $100 to fix it. What more can I say.

  • Randall Swain

I took my bike in for a tune-up and a new tire. Luis found another problem and explained why it needed to be fixed. After I picked my bike up and went for a ride it was like a brand new bike. The ride was so smooth compared to before taking it in. The price for the repair, tune-up and tires was very reasonable. I highly recommend The Bike place. Thanks Luis you really know everything about bikes.

  • Sarah Elston

I had a fantastic experience at The Bike Place! I took my vintage bike (about 40 yrs old) that had been given to me by my mum in for a tune-up and a new tube in the rear tire, and speed and quality of service was unbelievable. My bike is now in tip-top shape, and a total dream to ride - it truly feels like a brand new bike. I can't recommend this place enough - 10/10!

  • Ashley

Don't think I will ever go anywhere else except here to get my bike looked after. Louis is very knowledgeable, answers all your questions and is personable. It's not a fancy, showy place, it's a bike shop and you know it when you walk through the doors! Just how it should be. Prices are very reasonable and he is pretty quick for how busy he gets. Thank you!!!

  • Luis Lopez

What a great guy. A few weeks ago, I bought some mountain bike pedals. The plastic ones on my bike are broken. I have several wrenches, but none fit. I called, told him the story, and 15 mins later I was at his shop, and he switched them out in 2 mins, no questions, no $$$ asked. Great prices and great service. I'll be back in the spring for an overhaul.

  • Natasha Katson

Great service! Another cyclist crashed into my bike and broke my rear wheel just before the long weekend (the rim was bent and one spoke went off). All of the other repair stores told me they were packed weeks ahead. I took my bike here and he fixed the wheel less than for one day! Took my dear bike for a 40 km ride, worked like a charm! Thank you

  • Eugeny Zemlinsky

Excellent service when it comes to repairs or purchasing a bike. He will take his time to explain all options and you WILL leave more educated, more satisfied and with exactly what you need, for the price you want. Unbelievable! Anyone looking to buy a new/refurbished bike or to get a repair/check up done there is nothing better in the GTA.

  • Dan W

Terrific bike repair and tune-up place in the Toronto Junction/Bloor West area. Great service and parts at a fair price. If he's not too busy, the owner Louie has great stories about his competitive riding days back before indexed gears, when carbon was something in a campfire, not a bike, and frames weighed a ton.

  • Lucia Z

Simply another glowing review! My neighbors recommended this place for bike repair and luckily it’s located in our neighborhood. Brought my old bike in to have the broken brakes fixed. When I rode it back home today, it was like WOW!!! So happy with this! Thank you so much Louis! You gave my bike a new life :)

  • Stevana Bosnjakovic

Louis is amazing! So friendly and honest, more than fair pricing... I brought my 40+ year old bike on for a tune up and several other repairs/adjustments and he had it ready in 3 days! The bike rides like a dream now and I couldn’t be happier. Thanks so much! Will be returning for future tune ups :)

  • Crystal Sequeira

Hands down the best bike place in the Junction neighborhood!! We all keep Louis the owner and vintage car connoisseur pretty busy especially in the summer. Thanks for being a perfectionist for all things bike and helping pack our bikes for overseas shipping so well and competitively! You're a star!

  • Danylo Dotsenko

Amazing local bike shop; definitely a junction gem. Has everything from vintage road bikes to virtually any part, sometimes used but still in formidable shape, for an incredible price. The owner will not skimp on service and will offer you the best of the best of both servicing and knowledge.

  • HA P

Excellent service. Bike tune up was done quickly and returned sooner than promised. Nice fenders added at reasonable cost. Had a couple issues with flat tires which Louis fixed at no extra charge because "he stands behind his work". Easy, no hassle and efficient. Highly recommend. Thank you.

  • Krystal Blanchard

Friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable. Haf my bike brought in for tune-up and to have parts changed. He knew exactly what I needed and wanted. Fixed my bike up to be road ready in good time. My bike rides beautifully. Would definitely return for any of my bike needs.

  • T W

LOUIS has always been a really pleasant person to work with. He’s obviously passionate about cycling and Check with him every time I have an issue with my bike. It’s great to support a local business with such a hard-working person. Totally reasonable prices and quality work.

  • Scott Anderson

I needed a used hub for a wheel rebuild..I tried to give the owner more but he'd only take a lower amount of money. I appreciate the get-it-done no-nonsense approach. Did my wheel rebuild and on the road in 2 hours. Took 5 mins to get my parts and done. Perfect. Thanks!

  • Josh Allen

Excellent service and good craftsmanship. Spent the time required to find the piece of glass in the tire that caused the flat, rather than replacing a perfectly good tire. I had been to two prior stores to fix the flat and this is the only place that got the job done.

  • Alex Pecorella

Just went in for fenders, grips and to book a tune up appointment. Louis took the time to look my bike over, and gave me some great tips to make things a little more comfortable on my ride. A good shopping experience always makes my day. Highly recommended.

  • Nanc C

My bike had not been tuned up for a few years and was in rough shape. The Bike Place did a fantastic job, fixing the brakes and tuning it up. Brakes are strong and gears are super smooth. It’s like a brand-new bike! Great quality work and friendly service!

  • Erica Katkic

I just had the best experience at The Bike Place! I came in for a new lock, I left with a tune up (and my bike lock). Louis, who helped me, was so helpful. He was the reason for my amazing experience. I’m coming back here for all my biking needs.

  • LGB20

  • Cliff Taylor

Brought my bike in for a tune-up and Louis did an amazing job. The bike rode so smoothly. He was even able to point out some minor things I could change to make the ride even more comfortable. Great service and very reasonable price!

  • Salim Deaibes

The owner is incredibly rude. I waited for about 20 minutes to speak to him. No one else in the store, but he just worked quietly on a bike behind the counter with me waiting at the counter, with me having said hello a few times.

  • Joey B

Showed up after closing with a problem with my bike. I was still quite a ways from home and bike was not rideable. Owner took the time to help me get back on the road when he was clearly leaving for the day. Very much appreciated!

  • Nicholas Bianchi

One of the best customer experiences I've had in a long time. Lewis straightened my rim, put in new brake pads and replaced my seat in less time than he promised - 3 hours. The work was top shelf. Highly recommend this place.

  • Kevin Floether

Awesome experience. Brought my bike in and it was in horrible condition. Picked it up and it was good as new. Very affordable. While I was there I got my skates sharpened as well and they did a really good job of that too.

  • Kate Ryans

I've had a bent disc brake and a wheel with broken spokes fixed here. Quick work, great price, ready earlier than he'd estimated. He's also installed a finnicky chain guard on my commuter bike which be is working great.

  • Marcin Machnik

Really good work! Cheapest prices for my taste so far especially on the wide variety of parts new and used, and especially labor prices. Intuitive and long-lasting quality work. Thank you Louie I'll definitely come back.

  • Justin Styles

Louis is the Best! He knows his stuff, he's old school and tells you what you Really need! Bought a bike off of him 7 years ago and it's still going strong. Plus... He had Tonnes of weights of you need them …

  • Michael Brudno

Lou knows bikes. Specializes in tune-ups and repairs, not selling new bikes. I have been taking my (four) bikes here for last 10 years, and even bought a bike here. No nonsense advice, and high quality work.

I am an avid cyclist, have a pretty decent bike (Cervelo 3T) and I will not trust my bike to anyone but Louis. If you check out his shop, DO NOT expect to walk into a carpeted store with a

Loved the service here-such a good price too! I hadn't ever had my bike tuned up and after owning it for 14 years I figured it was about time. It rode like BUTTER after. Thank you so much!

First of all this guy should hire customer care person even on part time. Then he overcharged me and put substandard spares on my bike. I didn't ride for a week before it broke down again
