Welcome to Sydney. International flights land at the Sydney International Airport which is located about 10km south of the Sydney CBD. Once you pass through Customs, you'll exit out of the airport at the ground level through either Exit A or Exit B. The two exits are located about 300 metres apart from each other. There are a number of easy-to-access transport options located near the exit gates. A private hire car or limousine is the most expensive option, and can be pre-booked with a simple search of the internet. The cost of a private car or limo starts at about $US50 - on average, would cost about $US70-$US100 for about an hour. The next most expensive travel option would be a local taxi. Cabs are always parked ready to take fares. You'll find the large taxi rank at the southern end of the Sydney International Airport. As your taxi leaves the airport, the fare will automatically increase by about $US3 - this is the taxi airport fee. Taxis to the city take about 20 minutes and can cost $US35 - the cost and time can depend on traffic jams - be aware if you land at 6am (which a lot of international flights do) a ride in a taxi before 10am means you will be stuck in peak hour traffic. Other options: If a friend or relative picks you up at the airport, they'll be hit with a $US15-$US30 airport parking fee. Your overseas Uber app also works here in Australia. Passengers can request Uber cars through a virtual queue system and be met by drivers at the international airport's free public pick up zones. Follow the bright green signs to the Priority Pickup area for your uberX, uberXL or UberSELECT ride. One of the most popular ways for travellers to exit the airport is via the underground railway. The train leaves approximately every ten minutes from the Sydney International Airport - you'll find the entry to the railway station located at the northern end of the Sydney International Airport. Trains from this location head north to Sydney ending up on the City Circle underground rail network and other trains travel south-west towards Campbelltown. Before jumping on the train you'll need to buy an Opal card - You'll find a ticket window and automated machines selling these travel passes near the entry gate to the train station. Opal cards can be used across Sydney's train, bus and ferry network. The cost of travelling out of the airport precinct by train is $AUS16.90, plus the general train fare - in other words, it could cost you about $AUS21 to get to Sydney's CBD - (this is about $US16). Opal cards can also be purchased at the Newslink shop or WH Smith bookshops located inside the terminal. Opal cards are smart cards and can be topped-up with cash either via the Opal card app, automated Opal machines located at train stations or at most news outlets and convenience stores across Sydney. If you're planning to stay in Sydney's CBD for a few days, I would recommend buying an Opal card and putting $US30 onto it - the card will come in very handy as you travel around the city. Remember to tap on before each journey and tap off at the end of each journey. The cheapest way to travel from the airport, and it is not loudly promoted, is via a suburban bus. Airport workers use this option because they can skip the $16.90 gate fee that comes the train fare to and from the airport. The bus leaves from a bus stop located on the ground level - outside the arrival gate at the northern end of the Sydney International Airport. Before leaving the terminal to walk to the bus stop, visit the Newslink or WH Smith bookshops and buy an Opal card - I recommend putting at least $10 onto the Opal card before catching the bus. Buses leave here and travel to Mascot and Bondi Junction train stations, and also to Burwood in the inner west. From these train stations you can easily travel to Sydney's CBD area. Most airport employees catch the 400 bus from the airport to Mascot train station - which is located about one bus stop after the domestic airport bus stop.

WARNING SCAM TAXI RANK! A major warning to anyone else who arrive here DO NOT USE THE LOCAL TAXI RANK. We got ripped off crazy by the taxi driver (ID in the picture). A taxi ride that should have only cost 40-50 dollars to downtown Sydney cost us 150 dollars. Luckily our bank refunded the money back instantly when we asked as we had a receipt, so it must be a common thing. The official airport taxis was the last place I would have thought to get scammed .What a bad way to start peoples holidays. ONLY TRUST UBER! Or others where the price estimate is given before the taxi journey.

Terrible navigation from international to domestic terminal. You just can't get where to go. The only sign is about Qantas domestic which doesn't help at all if you travel with Virgin or any other airline. Pretty much catching Qantas shuttle bus was our only option at all (thanks to Qantas driver) after going back and forth and then walk from Qantas terminal to Virgin terminal via the carpark (again with no navigation at all). Add the fact that you travel with kids after a long flight, with heavy bags, wearing masks and you know why I hated this experience so much

Worst experience ever I had at international airport, no organisation, no arrangements, no maintenance, very smelly, noisy, disgusting airport. People gets treated like animal here. If you have connecting flight via Sydney, strictly recommended to think again. If you are travelling in the night, it will turn in to nightmare. Compared to Perth airport, Sydney airport is just nothing. So disgusting place. So sad, not so many people could realise this unfortunate thing. So sad lok at the pity people to sleep on the floor.

FYI: I transferred on 26.11.2023 from a domestic to an international flight. - 20 min wait for bus transfer - not barrier free - mediocre and overpriced food and drinks offering - no sockets / USB charging points - Boards showing departure time despite a 2-hour delay not updated - Qantas staff: we don't control the boards. Airport staff: it is never updated, we don't know why not. - passengers are refused customs refund handling on wrongly posted departure time.

If you are travelling from Sydney CBD the train is quick. If you are more than one person and not in a hurry try and take a bus. The fare is $20.45 so if you are a family look at other means to get you to the airport. The station is clean and there are plenty of trains from CBD. I feel it is a little (or a lot) overpriced considering you only spend minutes there considering you can train your way to the Southern Highlands for less than $10.

Avoid getting on or off at this train station if at all possible. There is a large surcharge of about $20AUD in addition to the standard train fare. It will be cheaper (and more convenient) for 2 or more people to use a Grab taxi. As for the airport itself, checkin staff are extremely rude and unhelpful. Checking in for a Thai Airways flight was a miserable experience. Facilities in the airport are minimal. Avoid if possible.

I've never heard of a main hub developed country Airport not having any facilities for international passengers who has to come in late night or very early morning for early morning flights. U literally have to camp on floors between the train station and airport. So be prepared if ur catching any flt before 7am for airport opens at 3 am. No refreshments available. However toilet and drinking water facility present.

Pleasant Airport. Easy to navigate your way around the terminal. It can be very difficult to drive to the terminal as they are doing road construction and only one lane is open for drop off at International departures. It has taken me, on occasion, more than 30 minutes to go the last kilometer. Inside, they have so many shops it seems as if someone added runways to a mall. Overall a very nice place.

Construction inside the International terminal has now started (Sep 22) After 2 1/2 years of near zero activity There was no foresight! The airport company did not plan ahead. The que for bag scan continue to be excessive- with 20% of the machines not operating. Lack of staff is not an excuse- just pay a fair wage and you will get staff!

  • Benedict Uy

Fairly nice train station loacted at one end of the airport. Just keep an eye out for the signs. You do have to pay a fare to get on/off at the airport on top of the fares to your destination. The signs are handy so you know which platform to catch to get to the city. Note that the airport is not a final stop so goes in both directions.

Slow, inflexible, frustrating and strange rescue, I bought a plane ticket with my girlfriend, but I checked my seat before getting on an Australian staff plane that seats completely different. Who is going to put the couple somewhere completely different? It's not even a window seat. I'm outside. Worst airport. I'll never come back

  • Lasaration

If getting to the airport via the train ticket is too expensive there are other alternatives such as buses. Check local time tables and you may save a considerable amount. The up side of getting there by train is that it takes you to the destination directly and this would be handy if you are carrying a lot of luggage.

Probably the worst airport I've been to for a developed city. It is so small, the duty-free shop is not so cheap, takes forever to go through security screening & customs (because of the lack of gates). Catching train there cost 5 times the price of going anywhere else. My luggage was also damaged by the airport staff.

  • Neo Kung

Spacious airport with lots of selection of food at food court (breakfast, coffee, bakery, Japanese Sushi, Aussie food, and more...) Pretty crowded even with so much space. Clean restroom and friendly staff. What I most dislike is the WIFI IS REALLY SLOW and DISCONNECT ALL THE TIME.

  • Anything goes with Art

Very organize and clean airport... upon arrival the queue for the immigration is very fast and does not take long to wait and departure for international is very fast and scanning of passport is very convenient... the train link to the city center is very convenient and organized

  • Sujan Selven

It is one of the best airports with all the advanced technology for check-in and out. This airport is not operational for 24/7, but does the job. The new Western airport will be open from 2025 and meant to operate 24/7. This also should reduce the traffic to Sydney airport.

  • D Smith

Stay away from Sydney airport if at all possible right now, they are still so short staffed and AU customs are probably the most at blame with their slow processing. What's more interesting is the number of customs officers that are standing around talking to each other...

  • AJ

efficient&clean. transport for NSW tap on and off is possible with credit card at no extra charge - marvellous! airport link carriages have good layout: more space for luggage near doors. but price seems disproportionately higher than other NSW services, hence only 4⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Weka Mouse

Great Airport if u have to wait long in transit esp if u r plane watching. Also a free hot shower is available I'd u can find it ...I did eventually... If going into city for day trip. Store luggage in Car Park Lockers, as Baggage Storage in Terminal is expensive...

  • Q Stafford (Bobsmum)

Most of my experience with this Airport has been good. However arriving at 7am along with many other flights was so chaotic after baggage reclaim. There were no staff or system to manage the exiting through customs so it was very congested. Good shops and eateries.

  • frances fergusson

It's clean tidy easy to navigate. Go on a train or bus easy as to get around on train. Tap your eftpos card or use ur electronic wallet to get on and then tap your card etc to get off..cheaper than getting their travel cards unless u plan on traveling heaps

  • Gage Read

I've never been to or heard of an airport that charges for transfers between domestic and international terminals. Absolutely ridiculous to do that. Cost more to transfer terminals than to take a 2 hour train ride from Sydney Central to the Blue Mountains.

  • Ricardo Fernández

First international airport in the world that kicks out in transit passengers to wait outside in the street like rats, unbelievable, poor security guard says "maybe you should do your homework", what an attitude aussies you've done it again.

  • James Chou

The staff there is friendly and the airport itself is clear with all instruction. However, if you will are waiting for transfer more than 3 hours, I honestly suggest you to go out and walk around if you can. There are some good shop to walk

  • Benjamin Wong

A train station built solely to rip off tourists with ridiculous fares that seem to be an idea of a third world dictator! You don't even get a red carpet welcoming or a conceirge service which is expected for that price! You can save half

  • CJC

Horrible experience. My family and I had to transfer from domestic terminal to international terminal, the T Bus driver was utmost unhelpful. Not only did we have to pay for the transit bus (which I have never paid for in a world class

  • Jaymie Donovan

Considering this is a station for an international airport you would think the staff would understand not everyone understands the ticketing system here. I needed an extra $7 on my opal card and it appeared I could only top up by $20 -

  • C L

Profit driven airport, leading to customer disappointment. For starters, slow service counter at the airport, the queue is almost not moving. To just weight your luggage you need to pay $2 to weigh 1 luggage. The washroom are badly

  • Aidan Connell

I HATE Sydney airport, it is an awful place, ridiculously understaffed. We recently arrived home to Sydney after a wonderful trip to New Zealand, we flew business class with Qantas but because we decided to be honest and declare

  • Dakota Niakay

Big thanks to the lady working who asked us if we were wanting to return to the airport later only to not tell us that the trains were stopping. Had to pay the taxi a fair chunk just to get back. Do better.

  • Carlos Garcia

Qantas staff brough into the plane an abandoned laptop asking for a possible owner!!!. If it were a bomb we would be all dead. That goes against any international security regulation.

  • theEaglet

Untrained staff, indecisive in their direction of customers, long wait lines everywhere and they do not listen when asked simple questions. Thank goodness I'm only here for 1.5 hours!

  • Scott Gleason

Nice underground train station with direct link to the Sydney CBD. Only about 15 minutes to Central station making it the fastest mode of travel between the city and airport.

  • Markus Müller

We left AUS via SYD. Very efficient passport check. Baggage check is also well organised. Just put ALL stuff incl. PC, phone toiletteries, etc. in your bag.

  • Danny Stephenson

Wonderful airport, very organized, self flushing toilets, food hall was fantastic, all was very clean and the staff are on point …

  • Amy Wu

Very expensive fee to get to the station. Ola is cheaper from Wolli Creek station. You can also catch bus route 420 from Mascot or Burwood.

  • S

Much less usual crowded but still more people than last September, half of shops are open and only 2 food cafe available macca not open.

  • Victor

Prompt and polite security checkin service with comfortable sitting areas. Good views throughout the terminal for some plane spotting!

  • Rax N

The free wifi network blocks encrypted traffic to VPNs and call platforms. It should NOT be trusted. The airport itself is meh, okay.

  • CB Kusmaryanto

Modern and beautiful airport. Unfortutanely, no ellectrical socket. When I run out my cell phone batteray, I can not recharge it.

  • R i

Staff check in are not friendly, maybe it's the 9-5 jobs at the counter daily routine? 2007 What happen to electronic check in?

  • Ivan Z

Good clean airport. Free pick Area. Speedy check in , good tight security and immigration fast and effecient. Staff polite.

  • Timothy Carr

Nice easy airport to access and travel through. I especially liked the ANZAC day commemorative display.

  • Binh Tran

The airport transfer fares are out of this world compared to KL, SCL, HK, LA, DME, IPC, PPT etc.

  • David Robison

Outrageously expensive car parking, poor signage. A great city deserves so much better.

  • HyungKuk Ju

T bus is quite nice between international and domestic airports with $6 for 10-15 min.

  • Andrea Pulati

Cold and empty. To make it worse, the only bookshop is CLOSED!

  • Nigel P

Easy airport to understand, always a seat too

  • Felix Paton

Very good
