It may be cold outside, but in this restaurant, everything is lit!! I saw this restaurant on the news the other day and knew I had to go. Local family business, outstanding customer service, beautiful little restaurant, music not too loud, great atmosphere....and then there's the food! Traditional Caribbean cuisine with a little twist here and there from very closely guarded personal family recipes. We spent more than average because my foodie friend and all around accomplice, Bonnie, and I wanted to try as much as we could. We started off with the Rum Passage cocktail (it was a long day at work so this was warranted)...it was sweet and delicious...could have easily had a few more. Our server was absolutely amazing!! She took the time to explain each dish and the level of spice (I'm quite pathetic...I love the flavour of spices, but can't take the heat). I was so impressed that I could enjoy my food without worrying about where my next glass of water would come from to douse the flames in my belly. I'm sure that they would happily up the spice level for anyone more adventurous than I (as long as it wouldn't mess with the integrity of the dish). Maybe a few more vegetarian options would be nice, but I think they would be happy to modify a dish if they can, and perhaps add a couple options to their menu as their business grows. We shared some appetizers: Fried Beef Sliders...handmade patty, just like a little burger, but the "fried bun" and in-house sauce really sealed the deal! Cod Fish Cakes were next...absolutely outstanding. Not at all greasy and with such amazing flavour that paired perfectly with the in-house tamarind sauce. I had never eaten plantains before so we also had the Fried Plantains and they did not disappoint (I used a bit of the tamarind sauce with them as well...yummmmmm). It was a tough choice but we shared the Lindeal's Roti Platter with Chicken (we're told the goat packs more of a kick - pun intended). The Rhoti was out of this world, as was the Curry Pumpkin and Curried Chickpeas & Potatoes (they were a bit spicy for me but soooo delicious that even though my burning lips said "think about this", my belly said "YESSS! Get it in here!!" The chicken was beautifully seasoned as well and the sauce was quickly sopped up by the beautiful Rhoti. It would not have been complete without dessert so we shared a Cassava Pone and a Black Cake. I've never had anything like the Cassava Pone before, but it was so delicious with the coconut, spices, passionfruit drizzle and ice cream. The Black Cake was delicious as well, a traditional Caribbean rum fruit cake that is reminiscent of the beautiful Christmas pudding of my childhood. Only one huge regret....we were so excited that we ate everything without thinking of taking any photos to share. 10/10 we'll be back to support this family business as often as possible.

Wow! This is new restaurant on St. Albert Tr has possibly the most authentic Caribbean food in Edmonton! It brings me right back to my grandmother's kitchen, eating dhalpuri and pumpkin curry. The food is mouth-watering and masterfully crafted. You can really tell that each seasoning was carefully picked and is at its freshest. Not only that, but the menu features dishes from all over the Caribbean, showcasing the best of each island (though I may be slightly biased towards the Trini dishes...). Super friendly for those uninitiated to the cuisine as well. The atmosphere is great and the restaurant is gorgeous to look at. Such a modern look yet a homey feel. Service is amazing. Any questions we had were answered by the owner herself (who is such a pleasure!). Overall? Amazing food and amazing people. A place like this is bound to be packed and bustling. Get in while you still can! 5/5!

I don't usually give 5 star but this place is one of my top choices of restaurants to eat at. From the ambiance to the food, you will be delighted.Keep in mind that the place makes their food fresh! That's why it takes a few minutes longer so be patient and you will have an amazing time. It does cost more but you are paying for quality and freshness which to me is worth the money. Definitely start with the sauce tacos and ask for the jerk chicken option, it's delicious. I then ordered the steak and then for dessert we tried one each of the cassava pone cake and the rum cake. The cassave cake had some coconut and it wasn't so sweet which was perfect when paired with the scoop of ice cream. For the rum cake you could taste the rum soaked in there whcih was delightful and warm to the touch. If you like plantain and like it soft and sweet, this is definitely the place to order it. For the steak be specific how you want it as it's cooked for you fresh and definitely try their cocktails. You will notice that the dishes they make have very minimal salt. You can always add salt but you can't take it out lol so if you are watching your salt intake and want a restaurant that is mindful of salt levels then this is definitely the place for you. Enjoy your dinner and I hope it is as amazing as ours was. Can't wait to go back.

The Sauce is saucin’! We ordered the wings in the guava sauce for starters (great crunch, temp & taste), the oxtail with substituted macaroni pie (immaculate flavors), & the jerk chicken (spicy & saucy). Great portions to share between 2. Most importantly, all the meat is halal by reputable suppliers (el safadis or paradise meats) and you can taste the quality of the meat. The vibes are immaculate — design, comfort and great tunes. You can view the kitchen from your table (which adds a homey feel). We met the owners mom/one of the chefs who was creating our plates to perfection. She assured everything is made fresh and shared how the flavours & spices were chosen meticulously, and many key ingredients are sourced back home. We felt honored to taste special family recipes. The owner was so inviting, and to hear the story of their business coming to fruition made our experience extra special. Genuinely one of the best cuisines/restaurants in city and worth the trek to the north. Wishing this business all the best and excited to be back again!

Beautiful dining experience in every respect. Bold, rich, exciting flavors. The most important feature of the food is that the heat and spice are balanced very nicely. For example, the Jerk Chicken is fantastic, and won't blow your head off and ravage your stomach like some places. The fried chicken as pictured below is crisp, sumptuously seasoned, moist, tender but not at all greasy. Also had the Casava fries, and wouldn't let them take the sauce it comes with, because I wanted to dip everything in it!! Located in the old Famoso space at Christy's Corner, everything is renovated top to bottom and looks, smells and feels fresh and new. Our server was very polite, courteous and attentive. Met the owner, head chef and saw one of the chef's carefully plating with serious focus and precision. This is a caring family business but everyone in the staff cares about your satisfaction from Mother to errand person. Great music, wall art and the overall warming vibe is just what we needed on a cold blustery snowy night. Will be back again and again. Excited about seeing some of the live Friday-Saturday evening entertainment next time!

Tried Sauce tonight! Everything is top notch here. The vibe and music are awesome and make me feel like I'm in Jamaica. The service is great, and so efficient, water refilled quickly after emptying out. All staff are so friendly and genuinely care about your experience. The food is absolutely delicious! My wife had the oxtail and gave me a piece, it was perfectly spiced and cooked and so flavorful. I had the jerk chicken. Juicy tender chicken, generously spiced with jerk and so tasty, delectable Caribbean rice and light and tasty mixed vegetables as the sides. I also got the hot sauce on the side for extra kick of spice. Was sweet but gave a great kick of spiciness to my jerk chicken and my rice. We were also given some complimentary fried plantains to enjoy and they a total treat. Also, definitely recommend getting desert, my wife had the nutmeg donuts, fluffy and tasty with a mango drizzle that is so yummy. I had the Black Cake, it is to die for!! So happy with the whole experience here!! Will definitely be back!!!

We drove all the way from the southside to try this new place and we were not disappointed! The ambiance/setting is really nice, I've always wanted a Caribbean restaurant that wasn't just a takeout spot and this place is perfectly set up for a good dining experience. Service was excellent and the Jamaican chef really knows her stuff. I like that the menu has enough options without feeling overwhelming. I picked up a nice mix of Trini, Jamaican and Vincentian in the offerings. The meals were excellent. It was hot, fresh and flavourful. The flavors were well balanced and the serving for the snapper surpassed our expectations! We had the cod bites, cassava fries, fried snapper and stewed chicken with macaroni pie (soooo good!) A few things that would've made this perfect: - serving size of rice could be increased just a tad - serving size of cassava fries was a bit small for the price. They tasted amazing though with the dip. - I would've liked a little bit more chicken in the stew :) Overall it was great and I'm sure we will return to try some other items. It's on the pricey side but it worth it!

Came across this place when looking for somewhere to get some Jerk Chicken and was pleasantly surprised. The store was newly opened and thus the interior and design is really nice, coherent and modern with some fun music. The service was really quick and the wonderful owner came out to tell us about the dishes and how they were all her personal recipes. Also talked us into trying their dessert the cassavapone, which I highly recommend. I got the jerk chicken, and my boyfriend got the ox tail. We also got the cassava fries (cou cou fries) and the cod fish balls. Both really good. We ate them pretty quick and I forgot to take a photo. But definitely recommend both the main dishes, if you like your jerk chicken with an extra kick, make sure to ask for some extra hot sauce on the side! And come with empty stomaches cause everything is really filling.

We had a fantastic dinner out at Sauce last night! The decor is beautiful and the music was enjoyable--not too loud. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We started with cocktails. I had a pineapple tamarind margarita, which was really interesting, and my partner had the rum passage, which was sweet and went down nicely. Then we had cassava fries with a yummy garlic habanero sauce and cou cou (cornmeal) sticks with an amazing red sauce. The portions were a reasonable size, not too large, so we still had room for our mains. I got the vegetarian roti platter. The roti had amazing flavour on its own, but the curried chickpeas and potatoes were even better, and the sweet, spicy curry pumpkin was one of the best things I've ever eaten! I packed up most of it to go so that I could still sample the cassava pone for dessert. It was super unique--warm and spiced, with a perfect scoop of vanilla ice cream to tie it all together. I highly recommend this place!!!

What an awesome experience. Finally the perfect Caribben experience in Edmonton! The space is beautiful, open and inviting. Music is appropriate for the space and just adds to the atmosphere. Above all else the food is amazing!! We shared several plates and nothing dissapointed! Special call outs to the fish cakes which were seasoned perfectly and had just a perfect amount of kick! The roti plate is great, the extras on the side really make the dish, roti shells tasted so fresh and delicious! Capped it off with the chicken, fish and oxtail which all were amazing. Highly recommend to visit this place and try everything on the menu. A staff and owners that care, take the extra step to make your time and experience great, best new restaurant in Edmonton you havent tried yet! Go today!!

This is the 2nd time eating at Sauce and we will definitely eat there again. It has a warm and inviting atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door. The staff is warm and friendly and will explain anything on the menu for you. Then you have the food and the flavor is absolutely fantastic. You will leave full for sure especially when you have an appetizer and dessert. They should bottle the sauce for the wings because you are licking your fingers to try and get every thing off your plate because it’s so delicious. The owner is friendly and makes a point to talk to everyone in the restaurant which is really refreshing. She remembered us from out last visit. If you want fantastic food that is from a family restaurant you really should support them. They will not disappoint you.

My boyfriend and I discovered Sauce through an article promoting "Feed the soul" dining week and we're so glad we did! It was our first time trying Caribbean cuisine and we really enjoyed it. We ordered a Carib lager, a mango on a stick cocktail and a sorrel. My favourite was the sorrel, which was packed with hibiscus and berry flavours. When it came to mains, we decided on the oxtail and the yurimein. The portions were plentiful and the flavours were well balanced. However, one thing that took us by surprise was that our dishes were not very spicy. We were expecting a bit of a punch in terms of spiciness. The staff were inviting and attentive. The owner came by to thank us for coming at the beginning of our meal and thanked us again as we were leaving, which added a nice personal touch.

Truly an awesome experience! We started with cod fish cakes, fried plantain and corned beef fried bake. Each absolutely delicious! We decided to share the main course and chose roti with curry goat. I was in heaven. The roti was soft and hands down the best I have ever eaten. The tamarind sauce with the cod fish cakes was perfectly spiced. I will definitely return and take my Trini father-in- law a dish from this fabulous restaurant soon. June 20 Went back tonight same great food same great atmosphere. It is a fine dining experience capable of impressing you in a good way. Needed a spoon to finish the sauce that came with the curried goat roti. Did a happy dance in my chair because of the amazing taste in my mouth. embarrassed the wife while doing it! If you want to try something new step outside your comfort zone and have a Caribbean feast. It was well worth it.

Growing up in Toronto I’ve always had access to the best Caribbean food so I have been greatly neglected living in Edmonton. Until now. I am so, so happy they opened. Food is 10/10. Roti skins were perfect. Fry fish, amazing. I did takeout but the soca playing when I walked in was icing on the cake. The restaurant was beautiful and staff was smartly dressed. will definitely be returning to sit down and eat. Update: came for their Soca Brunch. Music, food & drinks were fantastic. After talking to staff I realized the they are from all around the Caribbean so they have different flavors of everything. The owner said she will have pepper pot soon- can’t wait to try

If you like Carribean good you need to go here! 110% reccomend this place, the food, atmosphere, service and drinks were amazing! Husband and I randomly found this place while looking for a restaurant to go to before seeing a movie. We had salt and pepper wings, Carribean stewed chicken and Lindeal's Roti Platter with goat and Oh boy was everything absolutely delicious. I also ordered a rum punch and it was so good it took everything in me not to drink it all in a hurry and to savor it. The staff was super friendly and so helpful! Definetly going to dine here again and I'm also recommending this restaurant to all my friends!

Absolutely no complaints about this place! From the atmosphere ,to the service ,to the food, to the food presentation, to the service, to the price! Absolutely amazing honestly. This was my first time here and I’m sorry I waited so long! I went during the Friday lunch hours and had the Jerk Chicken Bowl with Sorrel to wash it down and my Auntie had the Roti w/ curry chicken. Everything was delicious including the Sorrel! I was also pleasantly surprised at the cost as it was lower than the majority, which honestly I would have paid more because not only did the food look good it also taste great! The atmosphere is very well decorated and put together and has a cozy, homey, welcoming feel to it and the service was top notch. So glad to have finally checked this place out!

Was looking for a place to go with a patio. I remember driving passed this place from work everyday and kept meaning to try it. Very glad we did. The patio was set up well, and has trees lining the outside, so afternoon sun would be controlled nicely. Food was great. Try the Roti platter, with the goat! The curried pumpkin was nicely balanced. The complexity and richness of the goat was mouthwatering. The perfect blend of authentic spices brought out the love and attention this place puts into all of its in-house made dishes! 5/5 will be back and recommending this place to everyone I know!

Tried out Sauce last night and was not disappointed! I’ve eaten Trinidad food my entire life as my dad was from there and he was an excellent cook. This is the first time I’ve eaten this type of food at a restaurant! My husband and I enjoyed everything we tried and particularly the Cou Cou sticks which I have not heard of before. The curried chicken is very authentic and tastes just like my family makes it (and sometimes myself)! The stewed chicken was a bit sweeter than I’m used to but delicious. The best is the dahlpuri roti. Very much like my dad and family in Trinidad would make. You can’t get more authentic Caribbean flavours than here! Lovely decor and music as well. Highly recommended!

Enjoyed our first Fish Fry today at Sauce! We were hosted by super staff and the family who owns, cooks, and runs it came to say hello as well. The place is classy and the atmosphere was fresh and welcoming. The food for Good Friday was incredible! We all loved our meals. We tried shark for the first time, all the different types of fish including the steaks and whole fish, and enjoyed the amazing flavours of the sauces on our rice. They also gave huge portions of provisions which included cassava, banana and some others. We left happy, full, and so satisfied. You’ve got to give this place a try. We will definitely be coming back on a day where we can try their meat dishes.

I can’t say enough of how much I enjoyed my experience here. It has been a while since I went out with friends and just enjoyed really good food in such a beautiful aesthetic. I so believe we eat with our eyes first and so presentation is as important as the food itself. Everything we ordered did not disappoint in both of these. The service was amazing as well and you can tell they are passionate about providing good experience for their guests! Worth every penny! So happy I have found this Gem!! As a stranger to Caribbean cuisine, I found myself absolutely in-love with sirloin steak drizzled in their sorrel glaze. It was a take to a traditional red meat favorite of mine that easily surpassed my expectations -- and cooked to perfection! The hospitality was phenomenal, and both of the lovely ladies who looked after my company and I tonight were extraordinarily warm and helpful. To anyone looking for a fantastic alcoholic beverage, I would recommend the Rum Passage without hesitation. Couldn't help but order a refill. Sauce falls into my 'treat myself' category now. We had an amazing dining experience at Sauce! From the moment we stepped in, the warm ambiance and friendly staff made us feel welcomed. The food was absolutely delicious, with the perfect amount of seasoning and the portion sizes were just right. We particularly enjoyed meeting one of the chefs, Zeeta, who was so personable and passionate about her craft. She truly made our dining experience unforgettable. The kitchen staff were also extremely friendly and took the time to speak to us, which added a personal touch to our meal. Delicious and innovative pan-Caribbean dishes. The owner (who was serving us the food) and her mother (chef) were friendly and informative, clearly taking great pride in their food and drink. It's certainly more expensive than a lot of the more typical Caribbean fare around town; however, the dishes (Jerk Chicken Rice Bowl, Chicken Roti, Cassava Pone) and drinks (Dark & Stormy, Pineapple Tamarind Margarita) we had for lunch (on a Friday) were anything but typical, and well worth it. Check it out!

Our first time having Caribbean food and wow! So much flavour. You have to try it :-) The cou cou sticks are a must try appetizer. Cassava fries were also delicious. Both of these are very filling - keep that in mind if you try it. (You’ll likely have leftovers from your main course - not a complaint at all) The Roti Platter was amazing - the curry pumpkin served with it was quite the surprise. 10/10 experience!!!

Went to Sauce after hearing about it from a friend. Staff were friendly and inviting and the restaurant is clean and cozy. Prices are fair and portions are ample. I had not tried Caribbean cuisine before but I was looking forward to what they had to offer. I really enjoyed the soup to start and the jerk chicken was spicy and very flavourful. Worst restaurant I have been to in my entire life. Worst service I have ever experienced. Bartenders do not know how to make simple drinks or take orders. They get overwhelmed easily with large parties. Not to mention my friend left the restaurant by getting assaulted. Staff members did nothing to help us except for accelerate the situation and called the cops on us. I love to help support small businesses but it is clear we are not welcome.

The food, atmosphere, and service was absolutely amazing! They have a vegetarian and meat options available, with varying spice levels. My husband and I were both very happy, and full! The drinks were well made as well. Service wise, we were checked on often enough to make sure our needs were met, but not so often that we were interrupted. I forgot my leftover on the table and the waiter ran them out to our car even though it was cold out. We'll definitely go back to this gem on the north end again.

One of the best restaurants I know of in North Edmonton! The service was great, but the food was out of this world good. My goat roti platter was to die, so many well defined flavours and great roti. Great restaurant! The service was efficient and friendly. The goat roti was amazing and will have that again. While good I thought the red snapper had too much seasoning salt on it. I will be a returning customer!

The food was within reasonable price and availability. The service was excellent. It was my first time , a little difficult to find, not well lighted. The name needs to be lit. I love the open concept. Very clean. Not many seats. I will return. The portions are just right.

Had an amazing meal at Sauce last night with some friends that meet monthly. We all agreed that this a spot we should visit again as the food was fantastic and the service from Abbi was attentive. The owner and her mother visited our table at separate times after our meal to ensure we were satisfied which I really appreciate. It was wonderful to see that word is getting out about this place as there were quite a few tables for a Wednesday night.

Been there twice. I had the Basa first and the Jerk Chicken last time. Spicy but delicious and nice veggies too. Also recommend the Cod Cakes appetizer, crispy outside, sweet sauce had a nice kick.

Beautiful restaurant and friendly staff. Just getting up and running, a few menu items unavailable but what we did get, was AMAZING! One star dropped only due to missing menu items, but I will go again at a later date once all the kinks are ironed out and see if they can get that 5th. Don't let it stop you, the food was excellent.

Food and drinks were both perfect with a lovely presentation. Finally a real nice modern Caribbean cuisine in Edmonton with a great atmosphere. Owner and chef came to say and welcome us. Waitress always had a smile! Definitely will be going back. I had the Oxtail, and hubby had the Basa.

Wonderful and delicious dining experience! Hard to make a decision as each item of the mains is so tempting. Friendly and warm staff serving hot, tasty food in the beautifully designed setting. So glad I also read the story of how this restaurant began as this family has honoured her Aunt in a loving and successful way!

Very cozy atmosphere & modern Caribbean experience. I ordered the Jerk Chicken rice bowl, which was the healthiest Jerk Chicken bowl I've ever had. They just need to get some patties, and they will be A1 in my books. Overall, it was very good food and will be back for lunch again.

Ordered the curry goat with dhal puri roti and sides - the one thing that hit very fast is how expensive this dish is for the amount of food that the order fills - $30.00 for a serving of curry goat - ok then - being from the Caribbean
