Update Dec 2023: Strayed from the script today and ate in instead of takeaway. Had friends over and so decided to go "off-script" not only in terms of eating venue but also decided to try something other than Pad Thai... started with the Tom Yum soup and finished with the Massaman. Both delicious. Wife continued to be a creature of habit and stuck with the spring rolls and red chicken curry. Neither of us were disappointed, nor were our Pad Thai loving guests who agreed their dishes were amongst the best they'd ever had. Food is so flavourful and the service is as friendly as you're going to find anywhere. The complimentary prawn crackers with peanut sauce didn't hurt either... perfect. Original review: From the outside it looks like a shack. From the inside the decor is dated and a confusion of colours. However, there is a reason that this place has been our preferred Thai place for over 20 years, the food is exquisite. Pad Thai (either chicken or shrimp) is unbeatable and my wife loves the red Chicken Curry. We are creatures of habit and order the same thing every time but if it's sooo good, why wouldn't you? Take out 90% of the time... because that decor.

We had ordered take-out from here about a week ago. We ordered a chicken pad thai, chicken panang curry, coconut shrimp soup, and a side order of steamed rice noodles. The flavours in each dish were excellent. However, we didn’t find that we got good value for our money. For example, the coconut shrimp soup only had 4 pieces of shrimp. Our entire bill was $53, but it didn’t feel as though the price was worth it. In addition, their website states that there is a 10% discount for orders over $30 if you pay in cash. I brought cash with me, but when I asked about the discount, I was told by the staff that “they have paused that discount”. When I followed up to ask if they will then be updating the website to remove that, they said “oh we will bring it back at some point in the future”. While I understand that a lot of restaurants are feeling the pinch from recent inflation, I found this to be very shady, and not professional behaviour at all. I’m not sure if we will dine here in the future based on this interaction.

A hidden gem in Oakville. Came here based on the recommendation of a friend and didn't know what to expect. Let's say this restaurant failed to disappoint in every possible way!! The staff was very welcoming and seated myself for over 15 minutes by the time the rest of my party came. Ordered the fresh vegetable rolls and the green curry prawns with steamed rice on the side. Prawn chips were served on the house. Food portion were generous and was cooked to perfection, with the right amount of spices. The plate had about 10 medium prawns and about 5 pieces of eggplant. I do reserve though that the spicy levels are considerably low, i.e., spicy levels 2 was very mild to me. Overall a wonderful experience and really loved the place. It's cozy and feels like you are at home. There is also limited parking behind the shop.

We went tonight Nov 18th, 2022. Definitely noticed higher prices and smaller portions. Still good. I must say they really have to work of washrooms. Having to use a bathroom with a urinal again was a real turnoff. Dinner didn't agree with my tummy but the two trips to nasty bathroom was worse. March 2nd, 2023 I went for Take Out it was yummy but I miss my weekly luncheons at Salad Thai. Please keep them busy with take outs. I can't wait for them to open again. Great service! So yummy one of our favourites! Onion Chicken amazing! Yummy lunch specials! We're there once a week! The owners are from Thailand and are so sweet! Better to go for Take Out!

First time order. Ordered cashew chicken, pad thai with beef and an order of spring rolls (deep fried). The spring rolls were delicious and not greasy. The rest of the food was tasty but didn't meet my expectstions fully based on the rave reviews. I would still order again to try some more items. The pad thai was a bit dry and could have had more of the toppings and beef, it was mostly noodles. Cashew chicken was flavourful but again more veggies than chicken. Service was prompt and the staff was helpful and courteous when I came for pickup. Portion for the chicken diah could be a bit more based on price, especially since it doesn't come with any rice.

Although this restaurant is small but the vibe is good and place is clean, one of the authentic Thai cuisines that you would like to try. I ordered Panang curry, chicken satay and chicken pad thai. Owner offered us a small plate of shrimp chips while waiting for our serve. Dishes are pretty good but just I’m a little bit disappointed with the chicken satay since I was expecting it to be more “bbq” style instead of lightly grilled although the latter is more healthy I guess. Peanut sauce was less flavorful compared to other places that I had been to and curry dishes are not coming with rice, have to order extra if you want. Overall, service was good and food taste okay.

I have been going to Salad Thai since I was 18 years old (turning 31 next week) and I keep coming back any chance I can get (I don't live in Oakville either). The food here is just so delicious, the staff are friendly and the service is quick. The prices are fair, especially for Oakville. I always get the chicken and shrimp pad thai and it is currently priced at $11.99 for a large portion. The pad thai is my absolute favourite out of any I have tried, including the 8 days worth of pad thai I had in Thailand. It is a small family owned placed and is definitely worth visiting whether you live in or near Oakville or you are driving by.

The young gentleman that served us was extremely friendly and professional. Food was great! Very clean and fresh ingredients. We had spicy fried rice, green curry and drunken noodle. I loved that the food tasted like home cooking in a sense it was very clean tasting and flavourful without it being over seasoned! Loved the fried rice, you could taste the "fire" from the wok work. Definitely would go again

Service was awesome. I reserved a table because the place is on the small side, not a lot of parking behind, but you can park on the street. Food was great. I tried the mango salad, green curry, pad thai, the fish and the sticky rice with mango. All was awesome!! I recommend trying all I mentioned!! However, I did not like the chicken balls. I guess it was not something I expected. It looked like a fish ball but tasted like chicken. The kids ate it and loved it though. I also did not like the chicken skewers. It was rubbery, but with the peanut sauce it was good. I would definitely go back!!

We have always wanted to try this tiny restaurant in Kerr village since we passed by years ago and finally decided to go and it didn't disappoint. They didn't have a huge menu and the prices are reasonable. We had pineapple fried rice, Pad Thai, and green curry. All were good, but we especially like the fried rice as it is different from any we have tasted before. The wok hey was very good and there's a hint of cumin and turmeric that makes this special. Would definitely go again and try other dishes. Thank you!

Best little Thai restaurant in Oakville. Been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Always consistently good quality Thai food with delicious flavours and reasonably priced. The curry dishes are excellent. And the pad Thai is delicious. Not the very best Pad Thai I have ever had but very good. I believe it is the owners that take the orders and serve and they are always friendly and attentive. My one complaint is the water they serve. Tastes like tap water. Besides that one little thing, I love this little place and highly recommend it if you like authentic Thai food.

  • Sherman D'Souza

Very homely place. A bit on the pricier side but the food is fantastic. The owner is very friendly as well and the service was great. We had the thai coconut soup, crispy squid, spicy fried rice with beef, green curry chicken and the pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. The soup was very good. The pad thai could have used a few more shrimp but it was very good. All of the dishes we ordered were really very good. We had the sticky rice with mango for dessert and it was delectable! Definitely a place to visit again.

I always look forward to having lunch here. The food is always so good. I typically have the green curry. My friends had the beef basil and pad Thai. All dishes were delicious. The lunch special is very reasonable. It comes with soup, spring roll and the main dish for under $20. It's a small restaurant and parking is limited but it's worth going!

Delicious food at a reasonable price. I had the seafood stir fry (i can’t recall the proper name) & it was perfectly portioned with a generous variety seafood which I paired with sticky rice. 10/10 would recommend. They didn’t have a certain item we wanted to order so they gave us an alternative which we chose and included another appetizer on the house which was sweet. Great service and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend

I had a no good experience at the restaurant, The place was clean and the decoration ok, the service was good they are very kind, the food portions are big and dishes really cheap, but you know the cheap is always expensive, when they brought the plates one of them was dirty, they apologized and everyone can make a mistake, they brought the food, and the food looked very greasy and my noodle's tasted like a chicken with ketchup ohoh gross!! I'll never comeback to this place

  • A Google User

Pretentious owners. Beware if you pop in 30 min before closing time, for either dinner or just a take-out: the long faces they pull will turn away even a starving dog, let alone an innocent couple. With the religiosity of a government outlet, they wouldn't miss any summer or winter vacation, or statutory holiday. Business must be so good that they couldn’t care less about guests during those times. In fact, at any time. Good luck! To both, owners and patrons.

  • Michael Gutowski

Ok.. I know on the outside this place looks weird.. but if you ask anybody who has lived in Oakville that this place is as legit as it gets. All authentic food, super friendly and personable staff, and quality that you won't find unless you were to go into the heart of Toronto. If you like curry I would suggest the three friend curry, the pad Thai is good for a tester if you want to just try their food, and they do take out all you got to do is call ahead.

  • BuddyL

This was my first meal after coming to Canada for the first time! YUMM!!! The lunch menu was easy to follow, very straight forward. The servers were kind, and always smiling. The soup was fantastic, and the red curry with chicken (no pineapple) was AMAZING!! Thank you very much for a great lunch!!!

I guess this might look like a padded review but let me tell you I have only been to this restaurant three times now over the last 15 years. I am not from this area but if I was it would be my weekly go to. The food here is incredible. That's it. That's the reason this restaurant has survived for 25 years. Staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The decor is unique.

Ordered 3 curries and a pad Thai for pick up, the pad Thai noodles were mushy and none of the curries came with rice, something I didn’t realize until I was home. I have no problem buying a side of rice, but at least tell your customers that the dishes normally eaten with rice don’t come with rice. Also got a mango sticky rice which tasted okay, but the coconut sauce on top had chunks in it. Overall not the best experience.

  • Ria Arora

This place is a hidden gem! The food is absolutely incredible. Truly enjoyed their Pad Thai. One of the few places that do not have the overly seafood-y smell or taste to their noodles which makes me super happy since I really enjoy Thai food. A special shout out to their sticky rice. The coconut flavour just blends perfectly with the fresh mango- mouth watering goodness! Can't wait to revisit :)

  • Accredited Appraisals

WORST mango salad I have ever had!! It was almost 15.00 and came premixed swimming in a cheap excuse for a Thai sauce, had not flavor, was mushy (anyone that has ever had mango salad knows the sauce comes separately to be poured on later). It has no sign of even a crumb of cashew and not even one sprig of cilantro!!! My Scottish grandmother makes better mango salad!! Dont waste your money.

My favorite Thai restaurant ever! The food was amazing as always. They have a big selection and everything is very authentic and of utmost quality. I have to say they have the best Pad Thai I've ever had, and I've tried A LOT around the GTA. Wonderful service also - very friendly and efficient. Whenever I bring friends there, they go back over and over again. Highly recommend.

The first time wasn’t as good, however this time was amazing. I am a picky when it comes to pad thai but this was one of the best ones I have had to date. Highly recommend this place for anyone that loves Thai food. Definitely will be back to try other dishes. (Wish they were open for lunch time)

This has been a go to spot for my family since they opened long ago. The panang beef is by far the best I've had in the GTA, and I've tried a lot. I also usually go for the pad thai but recently tried the drunken noodle. It was equally fresh and amazing tasting. Hands down one of the most authentic and consistent thai resuturants around. Certainly the best in Oakville.

  • Aishwarya Gupta

This place is excellent. Offers a homely environment and the food is delicious. We are vegetarians and weren’t sure of any restaurant nearby but we thought to take a chance. The vegetarian noodles staff suggested was yummy and quantity was good. My daughter is a fan of their sticky rice dessert. Every time I promise her a reward, sticky rice from Thai Salad it is!!

  • glenn heikamp

The décor was set neatly. The Chicken Satay states bbq, we did not see the grill marks and the chicken was bland, peanut sauce was great. My date had the Glass Noodle Salad. She loved it. I had the Pad Thai with Shrimp only. I find it was a little on the bland side. The service was great except not once we were asked how the food was. Overall I will go back again.

  • Michael Menezes Calisti

Best Thai food in Oakville. Very friendly owners. Lots of good meals here over the years. They are very consistent with their dishes - the flavour is always there and I've never had a 'miss'. Love the red curry, panang, Pad Thai. Yum. Oh and drunken noodles of course, but they are on the daily specials and not the regular menu. Can we please order them takeout?

Amazing tasty Thai food, the best in Oakville! For me it's all about flavor and taste, and it's very hard to find in Oakville. So when I found this little restaurant in Kerr Street after having eaten to a lot of Thai places in the area, this place was a revelation: Yes, Flavorful Thai is possible in Oakville! This is an amazing Thai Restaurant in the center of Oakville near Lakeshore Road and Kerr St.. If you enjoy great Thai Food this place is a must try. I absolutely can see why they won so many awards for the quality and taste of their food. As well the service and atmosphere is excellent. I strongly recommend this Thai Restaurant in Oakville.

  • Tina Marie

I've been eating at this restaurant since it opened (I think 15-17 years ago). I have eaten at dozens of Thai restaurants in the GTA and North America, and this is by far the best. The restaurant is tiny and shabby, but the food is so fresh, delicious, and authentic. If you can look past the shabbiness you are in for a real treat!

  • Mehak Sajjad

I loved this place!. The food and the whole vibe of the place was surreal. I went here for lunch and tried the crispy chicken from the lunch menu. The food tasted fresh and authentic. The service was amazing. Seems to be a family owned business and is managed well. Highly recommend this! a small treasure in the Oakville region.

  • Jo

Thai ice tea - flavour not strong enough. Flavour was a little different than most places. As for food. I usually don't like fried spring rolls but the one here is actually pretty good. The Tom yum soup has a nice flavour too. It's flavourful and Not too sour. Overall a cute little shop with a homey feel to it. Food was okay.

  • Andrew Mansfield

This place is amazing! By far the best Thai food I've had - it will ruin all other Thai restaurants for you though, because nothing else can stack up! (Personal favorites are the spring rolls, pad Thai, and the green curry!!) Also great deals on the lunch menu! Wish I lived In Oakville, I'd be here all the time.

  • Bronte Sunshine

Unfortunately our food was sub par yesterday. Ordered take out, restaurant is closed due to covid. Pad thai was disappointing. Very little chicken or shrimp, no peanuts, noodles were sticky. Green curry was ok but overly sweet, rice was bland. Expensive especially considering the quality. Will not return.

  • Quentin Stossel

Of all the Thai I've eaten in Toronto, this is the first spot I've found that is pretty much what you'd get in Thailand. Having lived in Bangkok for part of my life I enjoy the no frills here. They aren't trying to run a fancy spot. It's like a small crappy place in Bangkok with REALLY awesome food.

Great family run restaurant. Food is awesome and this is easily one of the best Thai places in the GTA west. Pricing is great and service is excellent. If you are in Oakville, you should give it a try. Thai curry is simply delicious and there are so many other tasty dishes. Highly recommended.

I haven't been to Salad Thai in a couple of years and I was so disappointed with the quality of the food. In the past it's been great. However, this time the cashew nut chicken was burnt and the soup looked like mostly water with 5 mushrooms and some hot sauce and basil. Won't be back.

Impossible to place a take out order even at 4:30 in the afternoon. We tried to get through tonight for an hour without success. We ended up ordering from our 2nd favourite Thai restaurant. Really, they need to do something about this. It's been like this for years and pre covid.

I really didnt like this restaurant. Especially that we found a dead aunt in the peanut sauce. The Drunken noodles had no flavor and it was very bland. Not sure why people have rated this place good But I certainly will not be returning and it was definitely waste of money.

Absolutely delighted to find this authentic little family run place. Everything I tried so far has been good, including pad thai and the ginger beef. Just ask to adjust spice levels, default is quite mild given their clientele I suppose.

This is my favourite Thai food restaurant. I usually come once a week and they’re always very kind. The food is phenomenal and very consistent. My go to dish is the Chicken Pad Thai.

Excellent food, very cozy. It’s a small place and the owners are very personable and kind - easily one of the best Thai food places in town! I would highly recommend!

I've been there many times, and they have never failed to impress me and I've always loved the food. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Thai food.

Excellent food, fair prices, if you like spicy food ask for extra spicy, as their regular spicy food isn't as spicy as some other Thai restaurants I've been to.

I lived and worked in Thailand for years. Upon returning to Canada, Thai salad is the only authentic Thai food in all of Oakville. It’s superb and always fresh

Great little restaurant with great menu and great food. Service is really good too considering that many ppl go there during lunch break. Good on price too.

Excellent food. Quiet, unassuming place. Deceiving from outside, but cozy inside. Authentic food. Tried pad Thai, soup, and curry and all were very tasty.

Best Thai food place I've found. Was my favorite when I lived in Oakville. Try the spring rolls, mango salad and mango sticky rice dessert. My favorites!

Truely authentic Thai food. Very delicious and the best Green Curry chicken in town. Give it a try, if you like spicy food, and you'll never regret it.

We ordered takeout. Very helpful with suggestions to serve 7. Hot and ready on time. Delicious meal! Took advantage of 10% discount for cash! Perfect!

Family run. Great food, better service. Always have a great time dining in here. Owners are very friendly. Prices are normal, no saving here.

Delicious for the price! Makes for better take out then dining in, restaurant needs some upgrades visually. Keep coming back for the food.

The food was great! Coconut shrimp soup arrived quickly, nice and hot. Pad Tai was delicious, as was the fried banana and ice cream! Yum.

They force you to tip for take out. Absolutely not a fan of that. Food was great though. Lots of chicken in the pad Thai.

Chicken pad Thai is sooo good. Add the pork green curry with coconut rice, and some spring rolls! Love this place
