My colleague and I went to Royal for dinner during our shift today. Lots of parking outside the restaurant and along the side streets of their neighbourhood. The friendly staff greeted us and waited patiently while we looked through the menu. My colleague recommended the Haniid Roasted Lamb shank. While our meals were being prepared, we were served some delicious lentil soup with garlic bread. Our takeout was ready shortly after. The lamb shank was cooked perfectly, meat fell right off the bone. The generous portion of rice was well seasoned and spiced. 5 stars for my first visit to the restaurant. Definitely recommend this. Looking forward to trying their BBQ chicken next time.

My husband and I stopped in here for lunch, and were absolutely amazed by both the quality and deliciousness of the food, as well as the warm, friendly service. A lot of care and attention to detail has gone into the preparation of the food, which is wonderfully spiced, and presented beautifully. The rice alone was gorgeous even just to look at; colorful and perfectly cooked. The complimentary soup and bread appetizer was a lovely touch, as well as the banana we were given to eat with rice, as is traditional, we learned. The tea we were given after the meal was rich with spices, and the perfect ending to a fabulous meal. There is such a spirit of generosity and warmth at this restaurant. We were very impressed.

From the moment you walk in to Royal Resturant you are greeted with a some traditional lentil soup which warmed my heart immediately! Taken to our seats and offered water as well. Then the food!!! Absolutely amazing. We shared a rice sport with a choice of 2 meats. The chicken barbeque and hanid was to die for the hanid was so tender and the meat was already falling off the bone. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his chicken barbeque and I was over the moon with my hanid ( Lamb shank). The best Somali resturant in this world will defenitly be back for more!

This would be my first time trying food from east Africa, and the whole experience was phenomenal. The moment we sat down, had that delicious soup, to the end of the meal with samosa and tea, it was an experience. The ladies were wonderful, explain to us what we had in front of us, and making sure the food was delicious, which it was. Try it. You'll be glad you did. My family stopped in for dinner tonight and we were very impressed. The staff were amazing. The soup we got served to start was delicious. We had 4 dishes (lamb, goat, beef salad and kidney beans) and samosas as well as juice for the kids. Nice to see a place that doesn’t over charge for drinks. Highly recommend.

This place is the perfect "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant. The food is so good with amazing spices and strong flavours. I didn't know what to expect when I went there for the first time today. The food is amazing. The spices hit the right spots. The meat is cooked perfectly. We ordered Haneed Lamb Shank and Goat meat and a beef meal for the kids. We will be back for sure. Update - we went there and it is even better than the first time we came here.
