I go around town trying different foods in Kingston. This month I’ve been trying Tom yum soups around all the restaurants in Kingston. Tom yum soup here is 12.71 for a large. Soup is very very delicious. It had chunks of chicken and perfect amount of noodles. There was a lot of leaves though. This maybe the best Tom yum soup in town. Giving it 4 stars because the lady at the counter wasn’t as nice to me. The soup was the best though ❤️ After a month - This time I was really craving for Tom yum soup and wanted to come back here. I called in and ordered the soup again. I went in about 10-15 minutes and the soup was ready. The lady at the counter recognized the weird name and apologized for the last time. She told me about what had happened and why she was upset that day. Now I feel very bad about the last review. People, please think about the other person when you’re submitting a review. It might really hurt someone who’s already going through a bad time. At these times when covid has hit us, please support local businesses and take care of each other when we need it the most. I’m really sorry to have hurt your feelings the last time Julie. I hope everything gets better. All the best! ☺️

I came to visit my sister for the weekend, thought we would have Thai food. This restaurant had good reviews but fell short on this one. The Penang curry was good but I wished they had some actual vegetables instead of just strips of chicken with rice. The pineapple curry was not good, no flavor, no vegetables at all and way too much rice. The house pad Thai, not pad Thai at all. No flavor, no sauce very dry noodles, the chicken was ok, there was some peanuts but once again no vegetables to be seen. We did ask for no bean sprouts because my sister is pregnant and you can’t eat those but really nothing else at all. The best part of this whole meal was the Cambodian spring rolls and they were just ok. Sorry to disappoint but from two ladies that love Thai food we were very disappointed with this meal. I would most likely never order here again. :( I would of been pretty happy even if there was some steamed broccoli/ carrots anything. There was some garnish of mushy tomatoes and cucumber. I don’t believe that counts. Hope this helps when ordering. We were pretty excited for Thai so I’m upset that this didn’t match the other reviews. HC

I have ever had in my life. The rich flavour, the perfect level of spice, the tender chicken -- ugh,I still think about this curry fondly even over a month later. I have a feeling I always will. My companions and I were thoroughly impressed -- zero complaints on the food. Also ridiculously affordable given the big portions and the quality! The restaurant itself: small and unassuming in decor but warm and inviting. It's located a bit away from the "downtown" core and requires a rather long stroll in an increasingly sketchy neighbourhood. The service: confusingly brusque. I recall being ignored after having been seated (we assumed it was because half our party was not yet there) but then being rather shortly asked if we wanted to order something as if we were the ones who had been dragging our feet...but anyway, the food is so good that's really not going to stop me.

Thank you so much Vath (owner and head chef) and Savan (his son, also chef), and Isaac (who took my order). The food is absolutely phenomenal as is the customer service!! I am vegetarian and the red bamboo vegetable curry and tofu spring rolls are some of the best I’ve ever had! Thank you for being so warm and thoughtful towards your customers such as myself. It’s been Vath’s life dream to open his own restaurant and he’s worked incredibly hard to get to where he is today — I will be sure to keep supporting your business and I encourage everyone to come here! You must try this place out!!

We heard about Royal Angkor through a friend... and we are big fans of Cambodian food. The people there were very nice and friendly. The food was fast and we were originally VERY excited to try the food. Unfortunately we got it home and the take out containers were maybe 1/4 full of the #15 Pad tai that we had ordered. The vegetables were quite soggy, some of the noodles were not cooked through. All in all, the food was sub par at best. We ended up making pizza pockets after we finished the meal, to fill up. If you really want good Cambodian, drive the couple extra blacks down town to Pat's fine cambodian. Their food is ALWAYS wonderful and there is always a substantial amount of it. I can honestly say we will not return. One star for the super friendly customer service

The panang shrimp curry is the best thai food I have had on god's green earth and in my top three favourite meals of all time (next to full thanksgiving turkey dinner and potentially khao soi). I came back to Kingston for the first time in six years with my husband and we vowed to order this food. It did not disappoint, after six years it was everything I dreamed and more. I have tried ordering thai but (outside of exactly two expectionally excellent khao soi dishes I have had in Toronto) I knew it wouldnt be as good, it never is. Once again, Royal Angkor has transported me to an ethereal culinary heaven, thank you and god bless.

Been going to Royal Angkor for over 10 years. Consistently great food with wonderful sauces. I especially recommend the Siam Delight which is sweet and an interesting umami flavour. The Golden chicken is great for those who like space and a punch of curry flavour. The red curry chicken is sweet and has a gritty sauce which I enjoy. The portion sizes have gone down slightly over the years while the prices have gone up. This has happened across the entire industry though. Nice, hard-working staff. This place is takeout only.

Very disappointed! We usually order delivery from Pats or Cambodiana but thought we would try this place because the reviews seemed to be pretty good. NOT! I ordered the #1 which is my regular go to when ordering Thai. Didn't see one peanut, no basil as the menu said and the chicken was dry. I get the flavours are different from restaurant to restaurant but the sauce in this dish was sweet with not much heat. Spring rolls tasked like they were store bought and soggy. Delivery took almost 90 minutes where Cambodiana is usually at the door within 30 minutes and the food is piping hot. From now on, I'll stick to what I know.....

  • Ryan Marble

This is literally the best food I’ve ever had. And that says a lot because I was a university student for 10 years in three cities (including Toronto) and tried a lot of restaurants. Even though I haven’t lived in Kingston for almost 20 years, every time I come through town I will order seven or eight meals from here for me and my family for the next few days. The best meals are the Penang curry, Thai vermicelli and spring rolls in general. I’ve never had better spring rolls anywhere. Strongly recommend. Friendly staff, best food ever! Don’t try to go on Sunday or Monday though because they are closed :)

  • Dawn Dalton

A friend who's been going here for quite some time asked me to go with her about 4 weeks ago. She's been raving about it forever and so we went for dinner. Panang was amazing and the service was great. It's small, clean and the menu has just enough choices so it's not overwhelming. Did take out tonight for my daughter and I. There was no difference from my first visit to tonights takeout. We did the chicken and tofu panang with fresh Spring rolls and tofu spring rolls. Funny thing is i walked into the restaurant only to see my friend that brought me here 4 weeks ago! Tells you how good this place is.

  • J. Suryana

One of the best food in town for sure. You cannot find the Cambodian food in Kingston in any other cities. I lived in the other bigger cities and could not find Golden Chicken or tom yum soup that is offered here. Compared to other Cambodian restaurants in town, Royal Angkor is definitely on the top of the list! The food is always prepared fresh and the quality is high...... I have come here since my university years long time ago..... Even when I did not live in Kingston, I would stop by here when driving through town for lunch/dinner....

  • Makala Chapman

A really nice experience. We ordered an appetizer and two main courses and it came to $50 which is very fair. The food came out hot and was very flavourful. My partner is a picky eater and even he found something he enjoyed. He got the garlic beef which came in a good portion with rice. I got the green curry and rice with a chicken satay appetizer to start. The servers were professional and the food came out in time. The patio is a nice place to sit and people watch but the inside is just as nice and is clean. We will be returning!

  • Jennifer Arnott

The staff here were attentive and very helpful, and our order was prepared quickly and accurately. They accommodated my food allergy without issue. We had the cold rolls and pad Thai to go. It was ok but it wasn't exactly good. The food was pretty salty (especially the dipping sauce for the cold rolls) and the pad Thai was rather bland. It was also missing the peanuts that were supposed to come with it. The sauce wasn't overly sweet (which is a good thing), but overall, meh.

After reading all of the great reviews I was so excited to try Royal Angkor, but I think I had a rare bad experience. I ordered Panang (red chicken curry) through skip the dishes. The food came nice and hot, but I found the sauce way too sweet, not too flavourable, and the chicken was very, very dry. I look forward to trying the restaurant again in the future as I have heard really great things (just look at the reviews!) and I really do think I had a rare bad dish. Maybe they were having an off day?

  • Elina Lim

Driving from Ottawa to Kingston looking for good food to enjoy and found Royal Angkor. I'm Southeast Asian and can confirm that the food here is authentic and 10 out of 10! The 1 chilli level spiciness is not spicy at all, but that's relative to each person's spicy level. We ordered the House Pad Thai and Siam Delight! Super yummy! We really found a gem!

Thought i would try this resturant to see how the food was after reading reviews. I have eaten Cambodian and thai food for 35 years in canada, the states and overseas and this is by far the worst i have eaten. When i called to say food was cold and pad thai was all clumped together and that the spring rolls were rubbery the man on the phone just said thats our product and was rude. Save your time and money - there are GOOD thai and Cambodian restaurants in kingston this just isnt it.

  • Nick Wang

Super affordable menu with a range of authentic Thai and Cambodian dishes. We got the House Pad Thai and Tofu Panang curry. Also some Cambodian spring rolls Tofu in the Panang curry is suuuuper soft.the flavours and curry texture are amazing! House Pad Thai is very traditional. A good mix of tamarind and fish sauce. Cambodian spring rolls are very different from Chinese spring rolls. Hard to explain, but the texture is softer on the inside. Great flavours and a fish sauce based dip.

Whenever I travel from Toronto to Kingston to see my sister, I always insist that we get takeout from Royal Angkor. Each one of my family members orders a different favourite from their tasty menu. My favourite is the Spicy Coriander Chicken. It packs some serious spice! I love this restaurant because it brings back memories of my 2012 trip to Cambodia and Thailand. Royal Angkor never disappoints. Can’t wait to go back and see my sister (as I miss my Spicy Coriander Chicken)!

I am new to the Kingston area, whenever I would drive by the Royal Angkor on Princess St., I kept saying , we have to try this place. Finally did. All I can say is superb. Both my husband and I are thrilled to have found you. Fresh, authentic, YUMMY. WE WILL be back soon. Thank you for your exceptional quality food. (They only have take out right now, but that is fine with us.). Elizabeth

Been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. The food was excellent both times, highly recommend the spring rolls. During the lunch visit the place was packed and there was a table of 12 ahead of us. Our food came out and was presented as if we were the only ones in the restaurant. Attention to detail is impressive and they clearly take pride in their food. Nice variety of dishes with fresh ingredients, bold flavors and huge portions. You won't leave hungry.

  • PJ Arnott

This is an average Thai restaurant. Good portion size for the price and but only average quality. We had fresh spring rolls which were tasteless (Iceberg lettuce, rice vermicelli in a rice sheet). We had Thai vermicelli which was rice vermicelli with iceberg lettuce (like a prechoed bag of salad) on top. The only things that redeem this place are rhe chicken (nicely flavoured) and the service (polite and quick). There’s lots of other options in Kingston.

  • Shyan Van Heer

Got the Thai Panang Chicken Curry. Service was good and the place was clean. Curry had good but not much above mediocre flavour. Portion size wasn't "small", but definitely would have liked more curry sauce. Chicken was a good juicy breast. Rice was a bit dry, dish would have really benefitted from coconut rice rather than plain. Not bad for $12 with tax, but not "consider quitting my job and moving to Bancock" level of Thai food.

  • Brian Lee

Since days when I attended university in Kingston almost 15 years ago, this place has been my go to and I've been ordering the same great dish with the same great taste: golden chicken. If you're in the neighbourhood, don't miss out on this wonderful restaurant. Kingston is home to some of the most fantastic Cambodian restaurants in Canada

I have no idea how people are raving about this place. Their red curry was so sweet just a weird taste made it difficult to eat.. they have me 3 strips of chicken their spring rolls taste like they are from Costco.. just totally inauthentic. If you are looking for great flavorful thai/Cambodian cuisine go to Pat's restaurant down the street. Food is so amazing portions are fantastic for the price. Great hole in the wall :)

  • Eden Campbell

When we made an order a few days ago, and had a less than favourable experience, I'm assuming the owner, contacted my GF and I and made things right later that night. We couldn't have asked for a better customer service experience. The food we ordered was so so amazing! And the portions were awesome! We will be coming back for more! That's for sure! Thank you to all kitchen and serving staff!! Exceptional job

Love, love, love this place! If you are a fan of Thai cuisine this is your place. conveniently nestled in mid town kingston Royal Angkor is becoming the city's #1 Thai restaurant. They serve up everything from pad Thai, golden chicken, green curry(personal fave)to fresh/fried spring rolls and amazing soups. The only drawbacks are: limited seating, very few parking options and cash only delivery.

  • Claire Ann Haley

Love this place; the flavour they pump outta that kitchen is unreal. You can really tell they use high quality ingredients; high quality expensive coconut milk; we love the curry and the golden chicken. Rice is always perfectly cooked, it's always hot right out of the kitchen, portion size is great and the service is lovely. Great family restaurants; one of our faves in town!

  • Nathan Zhou

Golden Chicken! Thats the best curry in kingston. come couple times now, service is nice, menu is not huge but all item on the menu are well prepared. seems like they dont have liquor license. Apparently this restaurant isnt really obvious on the street. The way find it is first find VIP chinese restaurant, look on the other side of the street and find an OPEN sign.

  • David Rodrigues

This place is easily the best Thai in Kingston... And to be honest, I couldn't find anything to match it in Toronto. AMAZING red curry beef with bamboo. I give them my highest recommendation. ADDENDUM: Years after posting this I still stand by that this is easily the best Thai in the area. The curries are thick and incredibly flavourful.

  • cameron trudeau

If you want Thai food there is no other place to go. Hands down. The food is amazing and the prices are in-line with or cheaper then most other Thai food places in town. I’ve been going here for years now and have no plans to slow down anytime soon.

This is hands down the BEST restaurant in all of Kingston. I tried it for dinner (take out) last week, and it is now my absolute favorite restaurant. The Chicken Penang dish was delicious. The portion sizes were great! I will come again for sure! I wouldn't suggest going anywhere else if you are looking for great thai food.

  • Erica Harrold Huider

This is my go to Thai restaurant in town, while I've had several items on the menu my favourite is the Thai panang curry with shrimp and the spring rolls. The food is fresh, delicious, and filling. One of my best friends loves it so much that literally every single time they visit town this is where we go for dinner.

  • Iain McLean

By far my favourite place to eat in Kingston. All of the dishes are amazingly flavourful. So much to rave about, from the friendly service to the well designed menu that is simple yet has something for everyone. I definitely recommend trying the whole menu, including the soups, which are out of this world.

  • Andy Ho

The restaurant is not opened for dine in right now, so I ordered take out instead. Food tastes good with good portion. Very authentic. I read good review about this restaurant and really wish to dine indoor to enjoy the experience. If I come back to Kingston next time, I will definitely come back again.

  • Jonathan Reid

Literally my favourite place in the world to eat. Red curry bamboo, red curry chicken, and golden chicken are all must tries. I wish they were open Sundays, ever since I moved away from Kingston, I've longed to stop in for a bite on the way back to the GTA when I spend the weekend in Ottawa or Montreal.

  • Jake McEwan

The food here is really good and there is always a friendly person behind the counter with a smile on their face. I haven't ever sat down to eat but their take out service is prompt. Watch out though; at busy times, it may be a little hard to reach them. Call it evidence of how popular this place is!

  • Margaret Brackley

The food was excellent and definately recommend trying this restaurant. We ordered take out for my birthday May 20th, we wanted to thank the kind person before us that paid it forward, we were told they wanted to do something nice for someone. Thank you so much kind person, you made my day ❤

My favourite place for Green Curry. I started frequenting in Dec 2018, and this place has gained acceptance among everyone I've brought/referred. Don't ask me to go because it's a yes. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and the prices are fair.

  • Cody Dauphinee

Easily the best Thai/Cambodian place in Kingston. I am always impressed by the quality of food and portion sizes. I've had red curry chicken at countless Thai places, but Angkor's is on another level. Highly, highly recommend.

  • Zach Zobary

Not all the dishes are stars here (skip the Pad Thai), but their red curry with bamboo shoots is the best curry I've ever had, including a 2-month stint in Thailand. Go here and order that dish, you won't regret it.

  • Brendan Ryde

They are the best for true thai and cambodian food. Have been going here with my wife for 10 years, they have never disappointed . True, fresh, and authentic food. Might have to wait a bit, but worth every second.

  • Martin Lavigne

It's the perfect place for a generous plate for a low price. Food was very tasty, even the choices for the kids. Careful with the spicy food as it really is hot. Not much decor but it's okay because of the price.

  • James Kyeong

There is just nothing like Royal Angkor in Kingston or anywhere else in Ontario. Craving for Royal Angkor can never be satiated once you try their red curry dish. Simply the best Thai restaurant you will go to.
