This is our local cafe and we go there very often but my friends and I will not be returning anytime soon due to the incident that occurred on the long weekend. We were quite surprised/insulted with the way our issue was dealt with. Myself, my two other friends and our 3 girls had planned our day with the local Withrow park and the cafe for a picnic lunch. We ordered our food $100 ish for all 3 families in total. We left, we ate and enjoyed our food and drinks as usual in the park. My friend needed to use the washroom, decided instead of using the park washroom said she would go back to the cafe and ask to use the washroom as we were just there an hour ago and it was in closer proximity. The clerk answered "oh sorry the washroom is only for those eating on pour patio this is covid protocol". My friend was shocked and we were shocked when she came back telling us about the covid protocol. How does this make any sense? We just spent over $100 and we cant use your washroom (1 person) but I can go back and get a measly drink for less than $5 and sit on your patio for 5 minutes then I can use your washroom really? My friend then got home and contacted the head manager and even the manager stated that her employees were just following protocols. It was clear from her email responses that she was not bothered with my friends concerns simply brushing her off with its protocols and call me to further discuss. Discuss what? As local and frequent clients of this cafe we have all decided to not return there and have shared our experience with others as well due to this unfortunate time there. This is the first google review that I submit that is a 1 star and in my local community such a shame. We truly understand that these are difficult times at the moment with all these rules to be followed and that is completely okay but the "small issue" as a whole in our opinion did not make any sense!!!

This little local gem of a café is located right in the heart of a beautiful neighbourhood. It was quite busy, with lots of people coming and going to get drinks and bites, and be aware that is a small place, so there is not much inside seating. They do have some outdoor seating options on nice days! My wonderful friend took me here to her local spot, and it is so cute! The interior is nicely decorated with wooden furniture and pillows. The tables were decorated with small flower bundles and painted rocks. They have a large selection of coffees, teas, savoury and sweet dishes. The baristas were lovely and hard at work at the main counter. I got their lemonade made in-house, and it was delightful. We both got their “Grown Up Grilled Cheese”, at the recommendation of my friend. It was delicious and very healthy! It had an egg, avocado, mayo, pea shoots, onions and a light, melty cheese inside. I need to come back and try some of their available pastries! A cute, local spot with top-notch, fairly priced café faire.

An adorable restaurant in East York. I love it with all my heart, and fell in love with my first look onto the menu. It's mid-price range but for a local restaurant that makes sure the food is quality, it's well worth. Their bowls are decent sizes and their sandwich was enough for a lunch for me. Their staff is all very friendly, and the area it is in makes it the best spot for a late summer sit-down. Going here again for sure.

Vegetarian options
Have a bunch ofenu options that are vegetarian and not bland in the slightest! No "vegetarian" option that is just a random assortment of unseasoned veggies. No, they have dressings on their salad bowls and amazing flavor combinations on their sandwiches.
Kid-friendliness
A cute neighbourhood Cafe, where if your kids enjoy a little sit-down, I'd take them. My little siblings enjoyed it, although they're not a very young child anymore.
Wheelchair accessibility
I'm not sure how easily accessible the doorway is, as I don't have a wheelchair myself, but there is a ramp and even an outdoor section. With their attentive staff I'm sure it'll be just fine.

I'm updating my review: The girl with leg tattoos and short her who prepared my order was extremely rude and racist . As simple as that. I'm still bothered by the way she treated me while I observed how she treated the other two customers (1 white males and 1 white female) right in front of me while she was preparing my order. I simply and politely tried to explain what I want. However, She was rude saying that I don't understand what you say!!!! I got very uncomfortable and tried to repeat what I asked for and every time I repeated it she responded back with a very rude and offensive tone as I don't get it!!!! I have an accent but I speak very clearly and never had an issue of not being understood or treated like that!! The sad funny part is that even after she finally could understand me or better to say decided to understand what I want, in practice she did otherwise!!! I asked for 1/3 of the cup to be filled with ice for iced latte but she put half and when I I asked for less ice She started a discussion as it would be warm. I politely said that is exactly what I prefer . Ridiculous. I'm not sure what was her actual problem but she made me decide to not go back there again and I also advised my fiancé to avoid that place as we live nearby.

Can you believe that I found this little hidden gem, on a whim? I have been twice so far and plan to come back … to eat through the menu! The food offerings are inventive, flavourful and so fresh, with plenty of healthy options. I used to work in Hospitality, so, I know some stuff. The vibe is neighbourhood café and the place is so humble and unassuming, your meal is served on vintage plates and the seating area has well worn furniture. Prices are very reasonable for the level of quality you get. Service is professional and the place is well staffed. First visit I had the smoked salmon sandwich and cup of Moroccan style soup, both delish, I came with a friend and they claim to be another future patron. The second time l had the deconstructed sushi bowl and brought another friend to show off my restaurant choosing prowess, they had the turkey and avo sammich and they too were very impressed. Thanks for being around Riverdale Perk and giving me renewed hope that Toronto restaurant offerings are not just sous vide vomitous garbage.

Given the location and vibe you’d assume this place is friendly and welcoming , unfortunately we found the experience to be the opposite and unwelcoming for kids also. On a play-date with two 6yos- we needed an extra plastic cup and straw (we split 1 iced choc between the two kids) but my wife was told that wasn’t possible (???) and only an extra paper cup was provided. Of course tears ensued as the child without the straw and plastic cup wasn’t happy - so I went back inside to ask for a plastic cup with a straw, which I begrudgingly received only to be told I would need to pay for a plastic cup next time I asked! Fortunately for everyone involved, there won’t be a next time as we won’t be back anytime soon. I understand running a small business is tough and expenses are high, but causing kids to cry isn’t cool. This place doesn’t have milkshakes either. We did also have an iced coffee, brownie and croissant. They were ok but were soured by the above experience.

I called the owner Danielle the day before a last minute engagement event for our family to meet my brother's fiancee's parents. We wanted to do coffee/tea and snacks for a group of 9+toddler. Danielle was super accommodating when I asked if she could create and assortment of treats on three serving platters to serve family-style, instead of everyone having to order individually at the counter and she even had an employee take our order table-side so we didn't each have to get up. They had a reserved table with small little succulent decorations set up for us. BTW, the treats were all homemade and everyone raved about them. Also, of our our drinks were fantastic. Danielle communicated by email and the staff was a pleasure to deal with, even helping us take some photos. Of course we left a large tip, and it was a lovely afternoon in a fabulous cafe, thanks to the staff here. The new in-laws loved it too and we all will have fond memories. Definitely recommended.

I fell in love with this hidden little gem. As the owner states in the Café's website, I can attest for their care and pride in the quality and freshness of the ingredients in their food. Simple menu but very well done. Nice variety of pastries, sweets and cookies; and even bigger variety of coffee, teas and drinks. We tried the brunch bagel sandwiches and some of the sweet treats/pastries, plus coffee and the warm cider, and everything tasted really good. And surprisingly very reasonable prices for such good quality! Special shout out to the lime pistachio chocolate bar. As a chef myself I was skeptical with the mix of lime and chocolate flavors. but you nailed it with perfection just a subtle hint of lime to brighten up the richness of the chocolate and nutty pistachio, really amazing I won't forget that! I'll be back for more!

A nice little neighbourhood café situated on a residential street corner. The coffee is of good quality and tasty and their daily selection of pastries is both fresh and tasty. They have a limited but varied menu of café food...soups and sandwiches... which are also very good. Staff are friendly, attentive and pleasant and the cliental is usually very neighbourly. There is eclectic indoor seating (with a wood burning stove for those snowy morning coffees) and there is café table seating outside seasonally. The outside seating is facing south and west so can be warm in the sun on moderate winter days. Parking is on the nearby residential streets and can be limited. A nice place to grab a good coffee in a quite setting.

The staff is great and the drinks are amazing! I had always been curious about visiting this place after so many walkings around this area, I live in East York. However it was very disappointing to hear that we as costumers can't use their Wifi, even though it's obvious they have Wifi signal at their business. Kind of sad they lie to their costumers like this (specially in this local shops were many of us like to discover and have a good time while working at our computers) Obviously I won't come back, however I will have a nice image of the facade of this place because it looks very cute outside and the staff members are very friendly too! (ofc, they Wifi decision is not up to them, but the manager or owner)

  • Camila Santos

I went there on a Sunday 11 am hoping to taste their famous grilled cheese that I thought was available because I saw in the menu that’s was hanging on the wall. However when ordered I was told that because it was Sunday morning they only had two options of bagels ‍♀️. I was fine with that, then I also saw on the menu that they had turmeric latte. When I ordered they said they were not making it on Sunday ‍♀️‍♀️. The bagel was fine but what’s the point of having a menu of you are not serving what’s in it? The smoked salmon bagel I had was fine but not a gastronomic experience. You can get that anywhere else.

I'm thrilled to share my experience at our local coffee shop! Their chocolate cookies are an absolute delight, with a perfect balance of rich cocoa flavor and a soft, chewy texture that's simply irresistible. The pack of homemade cookies was a true delight! It's a wonderful feeling to have such yummy homemade cookies conveniently available in a pack. The coffee shop's spacious patio added to my enjoyable experience. It's both nice and generously sized, providing a wonderful outdoor setting to savor my treats while soaking in the atmosphere.

Bad coffee, RUDE staff, and super unfriendly spot. @Managment: be more selective before hiring bunch of entitled kids that are “ONLY” good at helping you lose customers and taking orders late (they took my order after waiting for 10 min just watching them chat and giggle), and oh did I mention being super rude to their elderly? Not going back again. The food is not good enough to have such disrespectful service. Shmooz cafe is around the corner, they have the best and nicest staff there… and their coffee (and Salads) are way better. Bye bye Riverdale Perk, hello Shmooz ♥️

Great hidden gem coffee house. I almost walked past it when I noticed it was a cafe. So, I entered to get a hot Chai Latte. It was amazing. One of the best ones I had. Very affordable as well. The staff were welcoming and nice. The indoors was well decorated and looked cozy with sofa. I believe you can dine in with bakeries and food. Cafe gave me a very local vibe. I would go again to try a different drink and one of their signature food.

Still kicking and a wonderful respite in this day in age! If you're looking for a place to get away from the everyday the Riverdale perk is quite good is located just south of several major parks and easily reachable by bike. The food here is exquisite and definitely worth visiting coffee here is decent as well. They have quite a few desserts and other meal options. Please note: No Wifi! Otherwise the price point is a bit high but the food and the experience makes up for it.

My friends and I had such a great experience in this lively cafe, tucked into the Riverdale neighbourhood. It was super packed and busy but we managed to dine in. We got the smoked salmon sandwich, a lunch bowl, carrot cake, vanilla cupcake, spinach feta pastry, and salted caramel hot chocolate. Everything was so delicious but I would opt out of the lunch bowl next time since it wasn't filling or flavourful. I recommend their sandwiches, carrot cake, pastries and hot chocolate. I look forward to visiting again and trying out other items :)

There is no consistency when it comes to the food quality. Sometimes it is very flavorful and other times it is completely bland and tasteless. Ordered the Goddess salad today, it tasted like there was no dressing on it. When I went back to complain they informed me that it always tastes like this. I respectfully have to disagree. I have had good versions of the Goddess salad from there and today was not it.

Fantastic spot to get a bite to eat - prices are incredibly reasonable and it needs more hype and business to keep it that way. It’s also a stone’s throw from Riverdale east park, so it’s great to grab something to go. The sandwiches are amazing - not pictured is the grilled cheese, because it may or may not have been inhaled immediately.

Wow, honestly the best lunch I've had in a long time! Really cute café lunch spot, it's right in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. We got the brussel sprouts kale Caesar, tuna niçoise, guiness bacon grilled cheese and turkey sandwich. The sandwiches came with a pretty tasty slaw and the salads were perfectly dressed with lots of yummy microgreens. Highly recommended, it's got a great patio and vibe as well! 5/5 stars hands down.

Standard cafe offerings, small space, and the food took a while. It was located close to the place I stayed at while visiting town, so definitely convenient. The sandwich (egg, greens, tomato, on a wheat bagel) was fine, the dirty chai was definitely the star of the show but probably not to go out of your way for.

What a hidden little gem in the city! The food is delicious, the menu has amazing healthy options, ingredients are fresh, cute outdoor seats all summer! My favourite brunch in the city (try the French toast!), AND there is never a line!!! I can’t say enough good things about this place!!!! Be aware that if they aren’t busy the kitchen may close early but don’t let that deter you from visiting for an amazing lunch or Sunday brunch! I’d eat here every single day if I could!

I have been working 2minutes away walking for sum time. . And i am pretttty upset i just recently found out about this place. The coffee is great! Shot in the dark)! Espresso is phenomenal!!! And the roast beef sandwich and turkey sandwich are rediculous!!!!! And the slaw on the side! Wow!!!! Im sad i found the food on my last day of this project. . The owner is an absolute sweetheart! And the staff is top notch!!!! I hope to be in the area again soon.

Such a cute and cozy place. Really perfect for a coffee date or a quick lunch. While my sister was not as impressed with her grown-up grilled cheese (she found it dull), I loved my tempeh sandwich! It can get busy here so seating is at a premium but takeaway is always an option :)

Not dog friendly, which is odd considering its down the street from a dog park! Made us tie our dog down the block even though we were sitting outside. Overall a weird negative vibe and their coffee is just OK. They also have a regular (older lady) who is very unfriendly and yells at other customers ..she seems to be there every weekend. I would avoid... there are much friendlier spots nearby.

  • Khadija Zaheer

A lovely location, very Instagram friendly. However, the sandwich - smoked turkey with brie and chestnut - was disappointing. Bland, a little dry and didn't particularly taste like anything. The chocolate, caramel and salt dessert bar was okay. Unfortunately not to My taste but that's a personal preference. Hopefully the other menu items are tastier and today was just an off day.

  • mary weedon

Prices inconsistent. I order the same coffee everyday and the price changes. I get charged extra for lots of oat milk, but the price doesn’t get reduced for a decaf americano with one shot even though the regular is 2 shots of espresso.

It’s, like, strangely unfriendly? My kids play sports in the park every weekend so we’ve tried this place a couple of times. Weird vibe like we’re not welcome for coffee and snacks. My husband and I came out feeling uncomfortable twice in a row after only being inside for two minutes so we won’t be back. The coffee is much better elsewhere.

We originally went for brunch but found out it was only served on Sundays. We still stayed for coffee and pastries. The latte I had was very good, usually I find I need sugar but this was great without. The little pastry options they had were also delicious. They don't have much seating but it does have a nice atmosphere inside.

My wife and I love this place. It feels really special, being located on the corner of two very quiet streets in a residential neighbourhood. Plus they have good coffee (at least one option from Pilot) and excellent food from what we have tried so far. In the summer on the patio this is a hard spot to beat on a Sunday morning.

The service isn't warm. I've had multiple unfriendly experiences. Today I ordered a latte, and its room temperature. Tastes gross like they literally poured the almond mill & chai tea together without warming it up. I ordered the same latte the other day, and it tasted amazing and was piping hot. There's no consistency.

Standard coffee shop fair. Coffee is not notably good, and food options are interesting but expensive. However, they don't have wifi, so it fails to be a place you can go work. Great for a meeting place, but poor if you want a away office. Atmosphere is cozy.

They make an amazing Dirty Chai Latte that I get every single time. Has a wonderful vibe inside and out, and is a nice location in the middle of a lovely neighbourhood. Amazing food options, and even gluten free baked goods! I hear they make tasty cold soups! Only downfall is that they close at 6PM.

Very friendly staff, great atmosphere, they serve the best coffee you can buy (Pilot, which is local), they're seldom too busy to get a seat and the food menu is incredible (especially for a coffee shop). Lots of healthy, delicious and reasonably priced options - this place is a neighbourhood gem.

Cute little cafe hidden in a small street in the city. I went there with my one year old baby on a Sunday afternoon and had a very good coffee. The staff were all very friendly. Seating is a bit tight though and the place was packed. The atmosphere in general is nice.

Great little neighbourhood cafe where you can enjoy your coffee at one of their quaint outdoor tables. Seating indoors is also comfortable and relaxing. Definitely the best coffee shop for atmosphere and quality in Riverdale. Lunch specials are highly recommended.

We stopped here for lunch and it was delicious - got a soup and quinoa bowl. Super tasty and a refreshing option for lunch. It reminded us of healthy cafes in LA. There’s also a nice park nearby to eat in the summer. Worth the detour, we will be back!

  • Manisha Singh

We took veggie sandwich, falafel sandwich and Chaat masala bowl. All were very tasty and price was good. The customer service was also good. It 's in a quite neighborhood, food is good, desserts are awesome too. You can find cold drinks here too.

  • Lmjes

Such a cute area. Discovered this place by mistake! The food was absolutely amazing. The venue is just as nice and the service couldn’t have been better. If you’re looking for a private brunch spot or a stop along your walk definitely stop in!

  • Elaine Shang

We were meeting up with a friend moving out of country for brunch and decided on this place because it opens early and has a good review. We met at 930am but the cafe was closed, did not follow the schedule at all (schedule + lights off as

Lovely cafe, calm with a good selection of pastries & baked goods. Only strange thing, and this may be because I’m not Canadian & new in town, they won’t give out their WiFi details. The staff have to manually enter it in your devices.

  • Sarah Daley

Amazing dirty Chai latte with reasonable pricing! I also love their grilled cheese. This spot is a definite highlight of the neighbourhood, I would stop here everyday if I could :)

Cute neighborhood spot. I’d go more often but there’s no wifi and they’re surprisingly expensive. We went for a quick lunch (one salad, one sandwich and two coffees ran us $50+).

Quaint. Excellent coffee and home made treats. Great staff. In the heart of a fabulous neighbourhood. Not on a main street so it is great to sit outside on the patio and people/dog watch. Wifi. Not Starbucks - independently owned.

  • Jimmy King

Love this place. Great menu that goes beyond the usual standard coffee shop stuff. Coffee is great too and it's situated on a nice quiet street. Kind of pricey though, so expect to be paying more than your average Tim Horton's!

  • Steve Woolf

Quaint cafe, nice atmosphere, delicious selection of pastries and light lunch. Try the American served in real cup. Outdoor patio great place to enjoy a snack. If the weather turns chilly they provide throws to keep you warm.

  • Darlene Montgomery

I had to throw my Americano away. I asked for a certain amount of cream. She said she gave it but the coffee was bitter and very brown. It's happened 3 x. She just doesn't listen. Not going back.

The service was a little slow for an independent coffee shop. It's a very cute set up, and nice location for being right by the park. Adequate customer service, and employees likely rely on tips here. Overall worth a visit.

My neighbourhood gem! Danielle serves up great coffee/teas, delicious sandwiches m/soups/salads/brunch, all in a cozy atmosphere with fabulous friendly service. I love the Perk - you have to try it! Note - cash or VISA only

Wonderful little cafe in Riverdale! The food is super tasty without being overly heavy. The spicy kale Cesar salad and the grown up grilled cheese are both super unique and the portion sizes are very generous.

  • E. L.

Staff are rude and unfriendly - after turning a blind eye on multiple occasions I’ve finally decided not to return. Too bad a neighbourhood spot can’t treat the neighbours that support them with kindness…

  • Juliana Teixeira

The place is really nice. A perfect coffee shop to spend the afternoon after a walk in the park, or to unwind between meetings.

Cute cafe tucked in a friendly neighbourhood (where a lot of children and dogs were out and abouts). Friendly staffs and lots of (what seems like, regular) patrons. LOVE their grown up grilled cheese.

  • Gloria Chik

This place is nestled into one of my favourite neighborhoods, and has a lovely patio! Tasty little sandwiches and treats, just has tons of charm. Worth the mini wait on weekends, and really efficient!

  • Caitlin Nash

This is my fave coffee shop in Toronto! The owner is super nice and the coffee and food are on point. The tempeh BLT is my favourite sandwich ever. Also cozy to sit in/work in (when its not COVID).

  • Sergey Talashkevich

What a beautiful neighbourhood spot to enjoy the sun and have a delicious coffee and a snack! I wish they would use environmentally friendly cutlery.

a neighbourhood gem. A great spot for coffee and a scone. But their lunches are fabulous too. The sandwiches and salads are fresh and delicious. Here are the Falafel sandwich and Salade Nicoise.

Definitely one of the nicest cafés we have been too. Nestled and tucked into a nice neighborhood in toronto. Patio is real nice as well. Espressos are clutch here. But the pastries are a must !

  • Ken Bateman

This local quaint place has excellent coffee and tasty snacks! There is a small patio with cafe chairs and tables. Close to a huge dog park and big beautiful trees to lie under on a hot day!

  • Louis-Philippe Mongeau

The food is really quite good, with thoughtful menu choices, and pleasant friendly staff. Self serve coffee with exact change can make this a speedy stop. Or sit down and have a meal.

Came here to get some breakfast and it’s a cute coffee shop on Logan street. Their spinach and feta pastry is a must try. The crust was so buttery, flaky and crispy. It was so good!

  • Dana Young

Not a bad place for a cosy lunch with friends. It’s definitely a neighbourhood cafe. Space is small but a fair selection of sandwiches and beverages ! Staffs are genuinely friendly

Not much of a coffee shop kind of guy but this place is dooooope. Soups and food amazing, and they certainly know how to make a nice cup of bean. Big love.

Really nice little cafe that I stumbled into during a walk - low key and classic options, much prefered over any chain spots in the area More
