It has taken me a bit of time to be able to write this review but I can't say enough great things about Richmond Animal Hospital. A couple of years ago, I adopted a furry friend who had been diagnosed with mammary cancer. At the time, we were told she was terminal and didn't know what length of time we would have with her. Prior to our meeting her, she was living on the streets and, at one point, was even in a "kill shelter". Adopting her was the best decision we ever made, despite not knowing how long we would have with her. For the last 2 years of her life, we made such a strong bond with her and saw her quirky, sweet, loving personality come out. She became an integral part of our family. Given her multiple health issues, I reached out to Richmond Animal Hospital, hoping they may be able to follow her. They heard her story and agreed to take her on as a patient! We could not have received better care at any other clinic. Dr. Turmel is an excellent clinician - knowledgeable, thorough and an excellent communicator. When health concerns arose (more frequently toward the end of her life), she was seen promptly, treated according to our goals of care and followed closely in the days following treatment. Every staff member we came in contact with was kind and gentle with our little one. Unfortunately, in mid-March, she had a sharp decline in her health and quality of life. We had to say goodbye to our beautiful friend about a week later and we did so with the help of Dr. Turmel and his excellent staff. They made the hardest day a little more manageable - gave us tools to ease her anxiety, provided a relaxed environment (featuring her favourite treats) and gave us the space and time to say goodbye. They seem to truly care about their patients. I won't list them all but there have been many heartfelt gestures they have made to help us through this tough time. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Dr. Turmel and Richmond Animal Hospital for everything you do for animals and for the people lucky enough to know them.

My Fiancé and I usually go to a different vet and have only experienced this one vet...upon an accident with a friend's dog, this doctor took in our 5 month old puppy without an appointment, even though he had other appointments. He was very kind and understanding to my anxiety and also explained what had happened to our puppy in detail and offered two options. He also explained the pros and cons of each option. His "bedside manners", his attention to us as owners and our puppy blew us away. This doctor is phenomenal and I cannot express in enough words how much of a difference a good vet is compared to one that is there for the money. I wish more veterinarians were more like him. He is *super* thorough, super kind and his attention to detail is amazing. Before inserting stitches into my puppy, he showed me where he will be putting them and then showed me afterwards what he did... he gave us a peace of mind and made sure to let us know to call him if we have any other questions... Superb work and we will be switching vets...even though it is 45 mins away from where we live, it's worth it. Thank you.

Left message for them as they never answer their calls. Then drove over and talked to the lady. She told me the technician was in surgery (which I totally insurance) and to just stay in the parking lot and she will come out when she can. No time limit of 15 min to an hour. But I am terrified of the dog getting sick from this so of course I waited. Then she calls me back tells me I should call another vet to see if they can help. I WAS MORTIFIED. These are people that are suppose to make sure our fur babies are in good health. I said I have to go to work but my husband could bring her later today if possible and that was still a NO! I guess they weren't making enough money of this. Needless to say, I guess I will be looking for a new Vet!

Atlas has been a client of the RAH since our arrival to the village in 2006. They have been a great team - a great addition to our family ever since. A personal touch is so important when it comes to animal care and they have exceeded this expectation year over year. Always responsive, all our interactions have been lots of fun. Medical care has always been prompt and veterinary advice and recommendations have been ethically sound and holistic. I have absolutely no reservations in recommending the RAH for your pet's care.

Both the Dr and his staff are friendly and pleasant. Dr Turmel comes across as being very passionate about his work, taking plenty of time to not only inform and educate me about my pets and their needs but also in taking the time to thoroughly answer any questions I had. This can also be seen in his staff from the warm greetings and smiles you receive walking in to the care and attention they provide sending you home with all that you need. I would strongly recommend the Richmond Animal Hospital for your next vet visit.

Didn't administer the heart worm medicine in time, called two weeks after the next medicine was supposed to be taken, however they contacted me to follow up with us which is appreciative. We did make it clear that our dog has tapeworms, but the technician only gave us heartguard, which is for heartworms; they said heartguard would resolve the tapeworm issue, it did not. Screw ups happen, but overall they still very much care for our dog. I would recommend, however be sharp and take everything with a grain of salt.

It was such a relief to be able to get our dog Buddy treated for heartworm and fleas/ticks now that the COVID restrictions have allowed vet services. The vet technician greeted us outside and was extremely friendly, professional and followed all COVID precautions. Since we couldn't go inside with Buddy she allowed him to watch us out of the window while she performed the heartworm test. She was a really lovely example of someone who knows how to give great customer service and we will be back.

DR Turmel and his staff are fantastic! Service and compassion is #1. My husband and I love animals we have had 5 dogs and 10 cats over the last few years and loved them all dearly. Dr Turmel and his staff has always been there for us, seeing us through the happy times and yes the very sad times when its time to say good bye. Thank you Doctor we still have 2 dogs and 5 cats left. We look forward to seeing you and your staff for a very long time to come.

I had been going to the same vet for years out of convenience in Barrhaven. I needed a quick appointment and they fit me in last minute, at the end of the day on Friday :) The Vet technician was friendly and engaging. The Vet was awesome, thorough and quick. He spent the time he needed but didn't push $40 a bag food or extra tests "just to make sure"... just did what was needed. I didn't price compare but I know I paid less. I found my forever vet!

Dr. Turmel has been our vet since we first got our pups 13 years ago. He tells you whats what - what's important, and what is good, but wouldn't be detrimental if declined. I've always been very comfortable dealing with him and his awesome staff. If I had one wish, it would be that he operated more like an emergency vet - longer hours and weekends. But alas, he's just one man... Wonderful vet.

We were faced with the decision to say goodbye to our 11 year old Doberman when he suddenly became unable to walk or stand. Not an easy thing to do. Everyone at the Richmond Animal hospital treated us and our dog with the utmost compassion. We are very grateful that they were there for us and saw us on such short notice. They allowed us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes. Thank you.

If you're looking for a vet that truly cares about his patients' health and well being, this is where you need to go. Dr. Turmel and his staff have taken wonderful care of all of our pets. When an unexpected issue arises they are always there to help us all through it with care and compassion. You'll rest assured knowing that your pet is in good hands and prices are quite reasonable.

I have been bringing my pets to Richmond Animal Hospital since it's inception and have always been very happy with the service. They are very caring and professional. The compassion and empathy they showed when we sadly had to put our lab to rest was above and beyond expectation and was very much appreciated in such a tough time. From my first contact with Kate, to our consultation with Dr. Turmel I felt that I, and my cat were being very well looked after. Kate listened to my concerns and managed to get an appointment the same day for my cat to be examined. The clinic is welcoming and clean and Dr. Turmel spent a lot of time with us and my cat to fully understand her condition.

All of the staff (from Dr. Turmel to the veterinary technicians to the reception) at Richmond Animal Hospital are very attentive, compassionate, and knowledgeable. I have been trusting my fur babies to them for 20 years and I make the longer drive there from my home in Nepean because I know that they will give me the best care and not pressure me.

Kubota just took his first visit to Richmond Animal Hospital. It was great! They are friendly and polite and have a great setup for continuing to work during social distancing. The veterinarian, Dr Turmel (Robert) was very knowledgable and answered all of my silly questions about diet and stressors. 10/10 will go again.

As always, Dr Turmel and his team are exceptional. We have been going to Richmond Animal Hospital for 13 years. They look after our two "boys" with such professionalism and love. If you are looking for a vet service to look after your pets, look no further. They are absolutely the best !!!

So happy we found this vet! They are so amazing. They are good at responding to calls/emails, even texts, they answer all your questions free of charge and will even help you AVOID unnecessary visits or costs. They take care of ALL our pets (4 cats, 2 dogs).

My cat was a new patient here. He is a big chicken, but felt at ease enough to walk around the exam room. The staff are doing their absolute best with Covid restrictions and pet/owner anxiety. Very friendly and great bedside manner.

Dr. Trumel was very thorough with answering my questions and concerns. He displays extensive knowledge surrounding animal vaccinations and care. Great experience all around for our family.

Good place - I trust them a lot. Might add that they have no evening or weekend hours making it hard to get animals seen without taking a day off work. Also only give reminders same day!

We switched here after our last vet retired and I didnt like who replaced them. Staff are awesome and knowledgeable, our dogs don't even mind going-which says a lot!
