It was horrible. I traveled a full hour just to get there, carrying two big bags full of clothes to sell since they are always promoting that they take your clothes and give you cash. After handing them over to the staff, they told me it would take about one hour before they could get through them all. So I shopped around the store in the meantime. While going through the racks, I noticed that a bunch of items on the racks weren't even good quality. It's like they were accepting items that weren't just "gently used". Almost everything on the racks were garbage. I came in with the intention of finding work clothes, so maybe a suite jacket and some pants or skirt or dress. But found nothing! Didn't walk away empty though, grabbed two skirts anyways, but not what I originally wanted. After checking out, I didn't wait long before they told me to grab my cash for the sales since the one hour had passed. I went to the counter, and after giving them two full bags of quality clothes, they decided to only take TWO items! A jacket and hoodie, both from Uniqlo, and gave me just under $10 total. It was as if they were waiting for me to buy somethinf before letting me go. I get that they had so much stock already in store, but why did they have stained clothes on their racks, and not appreciate the clean, branded stuff that I thoughtfully prepared for them? Also, the way they were tagging the items was also ruining the clothes too. I wouldve grabbed more items, but the placement of the tags left giant holes in the shirts. I took the rest of my stuff and left. Definitely NOT worth the trip! Don't waste your time! Not sure if the other locations are better. And it might be a good idea to call in to ask what kind of items they are looking for before going in so that you don't disappoint yourself and end up having to lug around giant bags all day like I did.

I have never had a bad experience at a plato's closet until today. I arrived at this location in the late afternoon. My friend and I waited 15 minutes for someone to take our information to sell our clothes, as the cashier looked at us asking if we were her to sell , we replied yes and she proceeded to roll her eyes. After taking our information she tells us the wait time will be an hour and a half and then corrected herself and said 2.5 hours. My friend and I told them we would be back when we got the "done" text. Not even 20 minutes later I received the text and I was very confused as I had a lot of clothes and I was quoted 2.5 hours. Upon arriving to pick up my items , the cashier told me everything was a pass. After looking at my items , everything on top was dirty and dusty as if they had been thrown on the ground (as did my friends). All the clothes at the bottom had not been touched and still folded in the exact same spot from before meaning nothing was truly looked at and now I need to rewash all my clothes due to the employees. All of my items were from lululemon, garage and zara with tags mostly still on. I then went to the Brampton location and got $200 for my items (the Brampton location is much more organized and the staff are actually approachable). I am extremely disappointed in this location from the staff's attitude to the dirty clothes. As far as I understand it is a Saturday and very busy. Each customer still deserves to have their clothes properly inspected and taken care of as well as proper customer service. I will not be returning to this location , does not take brand new Lululemon but i found countless things with major stains and rips. Does not really make sense to me. Employees definitely need to learn manners and not roll their eyes at customers.

I’m disappointed. I was so excited when I heard a new location was opening because all the other locations are far from me and I often opted to go to the Brampton location rather then Mississauga because I have had issues with the Mississauga location in the past. When I first walked in to this new location I got negative vibes...no welcome or hello. In fact I stood by the selling counter for a solid 5 minutes before any employee even looked at me. Eventually an employee came over and simply said ‘fill this out’. After waiting another while the girl came over and took my bags and began walking away. I asked her how long she thought it would take and she rolled her eyes and said “at least 2 hours”. I was surprised by the amount of time because my previous experiences with Plato’s closets were pretty fast (30 mins tops) and there weren’t many customers in the store. I was expecting to hang around a bit at the Starbucks beside it but decided to go home since it was gonna take a while. Within an hour I got a text saying my clothes were ready. When I came back the girl told me the amount bluntly, gave me the money and turned around walked away. Really disappointed, if the customer service had been better I would’ve actually looked around and shopped. And i overheard another customer having an issue with items missing from her original bags...judging by the rest of the reviews on here it’s obvious that they treat some customers better then others. I’m also annoyed because I sent a lot of business to them by telling people that they had opened. So frustrated. Driving to the Brampton location is worth it since the employees actually acknowledge my existence.

I have been to this store a few times and although the 1st visit went amazing and I got some nice stuff, the prices seemed very high and it looked like alot of merchandise that the buy counter had purchased and was on the floor for sale was damaged. My 2nd visit I purchased a tiffany necklace which immediately upon getting home broke. I called the store and spoke to the lady who sold it to me and she explained I could return it back to the store for a full refund which I did on my 3rd visit. On that visit I purchased 5 items and upon reviewing the receipt today realized I was charged for 6 items. Just called the store and let them know and told them I would come by today and they said a manager would have to review my receipt and there wasn't one in so I would have to come tomorrow. I work long hours on the other end of the city and wouldn't have time to come by during the week. I was also told the owner would call me after I returned the broken tiffany necklace as I was interested in purchasing the pendant minus the chain and I never received that call. I was also told the manager would call me tomorrow but I am also doubtful that will happen. Just overall I've had bad experiences already with this store, kinda feel like I've wasted my time and been taken advantage of.

I think it's clear from all the reviews pouring in from multiple people that the customer service is a MAJOR issue, and I can attest to that. I called once regarding a pair of shoes I saw posted on instagram and the employee that answered the phone was so RUDE. Literally answered the phone with just a "Hi" ...and then when I asked her about the shoes, she just said they didn't have it and hung up on me. I've also shopped in there quite a few times and the service is atrocious. I was waiting for a fitting room and not one employee came to me to ask if i needed a room. I had to go to the counter to ask to open a room up....and it took them nearly forever to come. I work retail myself and I know it's hard sometimes, especially when you're dealing with customers all day..but this is literally YOUR JOB. Whoever is the storemanager, you really need to inforce customer service being a top priority; a lot of people don't even want to shop there anymore because of the poor service your employees are providing. Even though your clothing selection is great, it's not enough to drive people in. If customers are treated like trash , it's over, sorry. Simple. If the clothing selection wasn't that good..I would leave it at one star.

I been to other Plato Closet before and know if they actually look through all the stuffs, It will take them a while. But staffs over here don’t even give a look what inside my bag and give me a message that my bag is ready to pick up in less than 5 minutes. They told me that they only buy summer clothes and half of my bag is summer stuffs ezzh. The problem is they don’t want to buy any clothes (unless your clothes are super expensive and you want to sell for 2-3$). They should be honest about their process, and if they did not make much sale and don’t want to buy, I understand, but don’t post anything on social media like they are willing to buy so people will come over. The more time you spend inside the store, the more chance they will make a sale. Waste my time, It would be better if you sell on Facebook marketplace because people will come over and pick up. Unless you want to come there with your bag and bring the same thing back home. Don’t come here, they don’t want to buy. Probably they already have secondhand suppliers or something similar. Moreover, plato isn’t a good thrift store too, Try Kensington market, full of amazing stuff and in the main street.

It's good to find a lot of very affordable clothing items from good brands, and trendy things. However, I went many times this summer, and the store was dirty everytime. Some areas never get dusted, like where the shoes are for example. Knowing that we are in worldwide pandemic for almost 2years now, this doesn't make me feel really comfortable. Most pair of shoes weren't in good condition at all. (bought what are apparently fake converses at another location less than a month ago and already too bad to be wore anymore). A LOT of clothes weren't in good condition either. Found many with holes and/or dirty, or obviously too wore out, which is surprising when reading the comments saying the store is really picky. I wish the fitting room were accessible more easily as well. Most of the time it's locked and nobody is around to take care of it. I'm posting this hoping some improvements could be made. I truly love that kind of store and wish there were more at more convenient locations as well. It's an ethical and affordable way to buy clothes from trendy brands, but the experience could be sooo much better by little improvements :)

A horrible experience. Called the store prior to coming in to sell items. Was acknowledged and told to come in. Brought 3 bags worth of branded clothes, shoes, and bags. It was accepted at the counter to sort out. The process of how items are sold was explained and was informed to wait an hour or more. Came back after almost 2 hours and all clothe items were returned back. Reason- "We are currently overstocked with items, and perhaps should have come to the store a month ago". Really? I called in advance, confirmed if you're accepting clothes and other items. Told to come in. Accepted by clothes and everything to sort out. Came back after 2 hrs to tell me that the store is currently overstocked? If the store is overstocked, why did you accept at the first place The clothe bags weren't even touched (all folded clothes as I had brought them in). I had branded bags and shoes and clearly the rack for those accessory items in the store say the least weren't full or anywhere close to it. They need to hire staff who aren't lazy. Rather than sip their drink, chill and gossip, work for what they have been hired and get paid.

Second attempt to selling. First experience, this location purchased 2 out of 30 items brought into the store back in August. The remaining items I listed on Poshmark and within a week were all sold. The representative at Plato's closet informed me my styles were not current, even though most items were purchased within the last 6-months. Second attempt, brought in approximately 30 items, all current and name brand, practically brand new. This time 0 items were sold to Plato's. Similar to other reviews here, I was told my styles were not current, brands were not what they're looking for. I'm positive the reps do not review each item, I fold my items in a particular method and can see a number of articles were not removed from my clear bin. Also to add. a number of the styles on the floor were disgusting, not washed, stains that will not come out of the materials, threading pulled, balls of lint on jackets and shoes that have seen much better days some with missing straps. Felt like a Thrift Store. I rather spend my time listing my items on Poshmark and receiving a better offer. Plato's Closet Stockyards needs to do better.

Honestly I wish I read the reviews before going just had high expectations while the staff was very friendly and nice to me the pricing that was offered kind of shocked me, I brought in 5 items all brand new with tags I had a winter coat in great condition only bought about 2 weeks ago retail price for the jacket was $450 that’s what I spent (lost my receipt as to why I didn’t return to store) but was only offered $20 and when I asked why I was told that the system generated the price which makes no sense as to why the system would assume only $20 for a name brand jacket at least $100 would suffice. I get they have to make a profit but if anyone is coming in with items that still have a tag on them the price should be reasonable to say the least. They store is nice and welcoming but the pricing was absurd Even seen a lady who brought in 2 Womens top and get nearly $100 for them but a winter coat and 2 track suits come up to $63 and change just crazy i with all honestly probably wouldn’t go back to sell any items unless your ok with a low offering.

I brought some clothes today to see if they wanted to buy anything. all clean, no rips, brand name, and trendy. I was told they were being very picky due to decreased sales because of covid19; no problem, I totally understand that. but I didn't think that by "picky" they would mean "cheap". my entire lot of clothing was American eagle, underarmour, Wilfred/babaton, lasenza, Paige, and cheap Monday - all of which are expensive, high quality brands. of the ~25 items I brought, they were interested in 4, for a total of $15. 1 shirt alone in those 4 items retails for $130 (a cashmere and silk pullover). the other retails for $98. even if they resold the $100 shirt for 60% below market price, at $60, and gave me 1/4 of that price ($15), the one shirt alone would be more than the entire price of the lot they offered me. I've sold at other Plato's closet locations before with no issues. this is just highway robbery, and I'm absolutely appalled at the rates they're offering. I'll stick to selling privately by my self on depop and Facebook marketplace.

1st visit: beautiful clothing was super excited. 2nd visit: meh clothing 3rd visit: nothing at all, plus they sell clothing that are in ruins. I also went twice to sell some clothing to them: 1st visit: two girls with attitude attended me, saying once i left "dont people know they have to bring stuff that's trending" 2nd visit: got paid for half the clothes I brought the first time. I own clothes from sirens, forever 21 and urban planet, which is the majority of your store. I'm not saying you have an obligation to buy it but c'mon. I brought back the same clothing to another girl and was able to get something back, it is unfair. I think you should consider hiring actual people with knowledge of fashion and they dedicate themselves to that. The second visit i took more clothing to sell and the bottom clothing wasnt even touched and said some clothes wear worn when I came in the other day there were quit a few clothing your company tried to sell was completely dirty and torn. Don't leave these decisions up to teenagers..

!! WARNING !! If you are selling clothes to them please make sure you stay on premise and watch them!! They returned my unpurchased clothes with stains and marks all over! It looked like they dropped a coffee or something with similar colouring because I have little brown spots on so many pieces of my clothes!! I know they were not there before because I had folded each item neatly right before heading over to sell them. Ive shopped many times at their location in Vaughan and it blows my mind that there is open coffee everywhere from timmies to Starbucks. Have you ever been to any other retail store and seen sales associate casually drinking coffee in front of customers? Even Goodwill has professional standards! There is even one shirt in which it clearly looks like they dropped it on the floor and it took on all the grey nasty lint that accumulates when a floor is not swept often. It's so unfortunate because the staff is so welcoming and nice but they treat your clothing with no respect at all.

I visited here in the Spring of 2023 and I know I didn't get even a fourth of the value of my items from this place but I also needed to quickly clear out my items from storage. I was VERY emotional, physically and mentally exhausted. Grieving. Clothing to me resonates greatly with a time, place, emotion, person etc.overall, sensory. I felt like standing in that store after bringing in large vacuum sealed bags that they didn't understand this, but I also couldn't go back. I went to the car and then to the Starbucks while I waited for their text to come back and cried behind my sunglasses. Then in the store I cried again unexpectedly. I wish I knew what the associates name was (I wont try to describe her incase it is deemed unnecessary)- but she was kind to ask me if I was okay and offered a tissue. She told me it would be okay or something similar in sentiment. Overall, this review is for her and for making a terribly hard day a little more bearable. Thank you

The clothes really are what people on here say. It was the closest location of my home in Downtown Toronto but it was a waste of my time trekking over there. I took my clothes in to sell but they didn’t take a single piece. My clothes are SO much better in style and condition than what they have on display. I didn’t buy a single piece. I was told that my clothes are outside of their 2-3 year rule but I see the clothes on the racks and most of them look ready to be trashed. I am not joking. And they look more than 2-3 years old. They look like they are 10 years old because of their style and condition. I saw many patent leather jackets with ripped parts on the sleeves. I feel like there are no good consignment stores (maybe the ones who take only designer clothes are better). Though I want to be sustainable especially as we have such excess of clothing, I have to stick to new clothes from retail stores. I want to wear clothes that I feel good in.

  • Veronica R

SCAM ALERT! I was warned about this company being a scam but I went anyway. I took about 15 items. Most were not worn and others were gently used. Three items only $7.25. 25 minutes waiting for them to “sort through clothes” for $7.25? Huge scam! The items they took were originally $45 together- no tax and I only get back money worth of a grande coffee from Starbucks? Never coming back here to sell or buy… The clothes and shoes they have there smell like sweat and are heavily used and damaged… not to mention, over priced. I posted on social media about my experience and the amount of replies I received about my friends experiencing the same scam situation were a good amount. Embarrassing to say the least. Selling items for over $10 when they are only worth $2 at Value Village? Never coming back again not only because of my experience but also because of dirty this store also was…

  • Loralie

I had never sold clothes here before and got very little guidance from the girl I talked to, and she got really impatient with me filling out the form, which I filled out at what I thought was a normal speed. Said it would be 30 minutes and I'd get a text when it's done. Went to Starbucks for the 30 minutes and returned. I didn't get a text so I figured they were busy and spent another 30 minutes browsing the store. I eventually went up and asked how much longer it would be, since I had waited an hour, and they said it was done. Oh, okay. I did try on a lot of nice pieces while browsing, and ended up spending $30. All the rest of the employees I encountered were nice. If you plan on selling clothes, I guess don't rely on them texting you when it's complete.

  • Shruthi Venkatesh

Got different information on phone, website versus at the store. After clarifying on what they accept at store, they didn accept clothes when I went in. Some I agree why they don't accept. For other I was told they sell only to young adults and not mature people and i am young adult. The person reviewing my clothes just kept repeating same answer for all clothes. And they were all good brands! They rejected my boots stating they had marks on them, while the sneakers they had on shelf had same scars from wearing them! The review took 5 mins and the person was distracted by another customer. They just dumped back all the clothes into the bag and handed them over. Not sure will return here to sell. Don't think this is right place to sell clothes.

  • Ashley D

Very disappointed with my visit. Store is very crowded and obviously understaffed. Took two hours until they got to my bin of clothes and when they did they spent probably no more than 15 minutes deciding to keep 8 items for less than $30. I don't think they even took the time to check my items as a lot of the clothes rejected were clothes that they had called for on their social media such as brand names. If I had to guess, their store is extremely crowded with clothes (clothes that made me question what their acceptance criteria even is btw) so this location is just not taking as much new clothing because there is no room for it. I would highly advise trying a different and larger location unless you want your time wasted.

Let me start off by saying that I purchase a lot from this store and all the staff I’ve come in contact with have been super nice. I prefer coming to this one rather than the one closer to me. That being said, the one thing I’m having issues with lately is the condition of the items. It’s like there’s lack of quality control and the staff buying the items aren’t checking for flaws thoroughly. I buy online (for their weekly drops) but I find I’m having to make extra trips to return flawed items. I’ve purchased a jacket with a shredded lining, colour transfer on leather pants, and seams starting to rip on a pair of pants— just to name a few. Stuff that shouldn’t be missed. Just a little disappointing lately.

I wish I had read the reviews before heading over because every negative review is accurate and what I had experienced at the store today. Staff seemed annoyed/alarmed when I stepped in the store and it was an awkward drop off experience. Was told there was a 2 bag limit - so strange as all I had done was put the shoes in a different bag so it would get the clothing dirty but she just stared at me blankly. They looked over the items rather quickly and said they will be refusing all of the items because they were too dressy. I had a TNA shorts in there but okay. I have pretty much been to all the Plato's by now and this truly one of the worst. Don't bother as all the other reviewers have already mentioned.

  • ldotlao

I went today to sell clothing right when they opened. On their Instagram it's says they require customers to bring clothing in open baskets instead of bags, or they will be turned away, but when i went everyone else had bags and they still accepted them. Perhaps the information on their Instagram is outdated but I would appreciate consistency. I was told the wait time would be 20 mins but waited well over 40 mins and never received a text. when I went in to ask about the wait time, I was told that they were finished and it looked like they had been finished for a while. In my personal opinion, selling clothes here is not worth the hassle and you are likely better off donating your clothes to a non profit.

  • Mili Doshi

I spent two hours travelling to this location to drop off a heavy bag of clothes just for the associate to tell me they’ve hit their cash limit and that they could only offer store credit. Now I get that, but I wasn’t planning on shopping there ever. I still considered it and asked for a quote first to gauge how much credit I’d get. To which they said if they gave me the quote, I’d have to make the purchase after. That sounded downright ridiculous to me. Their unwillingness to be of ANY help was frustrating. They were also extremely cold and standoffish throughout our interaction, and didn’t even bother to apologise for the inconvenience. I hope they get some sales 101 and learn to be polite to guests.

  • Nicole Medeiros

We called ahead of time to ensure that this location was open and accepting clothing, we were told yes they were. After arriving and being told they weren’t accepting 98% of our items which were all brand name clothing, purses and shoes they informed us at this time they were only accepting very specific items due to Covid. My question is why weren’t we told this when we called them instead of wasting three hours out of our day lugging our bins there, waiting 30 mins for them to sort through and driving there and back. Waste of time! On top of that the older lady working was quite rude and passive aggressive. I recommend going to the Hamilton location - worth the drive and they take mostly everything.

  • IVETT JUHASZ

This location is such a disappointment. I’ve gone in a few times as this is the closest one to my house but I never leave with anything. The selection isn’t great, the prices here are insane. Even looking through the racks is frustrating. You don’t separate out plus size items just throw it in with the XL section. Also when you are looking through a size that is actually marked you find it’s a mix of all sizes they don’t keep any of it organized. The staff don’t watch the store at all, We waited for 15 min for someone at the cash to become available to unlock doors for the change room. Very disappointed, however I do love Plato’s .. just make the trip to the Vaughan location it’s worth it.

  • Nana Momoh

I walked in and browsed for 10 minutes before an employee advised me that I can browse but can't pay. I asked her what time the cashed would be open Ed, and she said in 2 weeks. Then she told me that her manager advised her to let customers know that they can browse but can't pay. Had the employee advised me from the beginnings, I would have left because I have no time to waste. And also, what kind of service do you offer whereby your store is open to customers but not to their business. Just keep it closed until the store officially opens, OR, put a sign on the door, or...even better.. let customers know as soon as they walk in the door.

  • Nancy Agbaje

I came to this location, one traffic light east of Jane Street and St. Clair Avenue West, and situated near the Starbucks and Osmow's to sell some new and gently used clothes and shoes in the hopes of making a few dollars. I had three bins I brought in and only ended up selling 9 items which they valued quite low (approx. $3.25 per item). They indicated they were looking for clothes that were more tween friendly, and what I brought in was apparently too formal, lol!) At the end of the day, I made a few dollars but for the time and effort to do it, I'm not sure I'd do it again honestly given the payout is pretty measly.

  • Linda Estefanía

The staff are rude and not helpful. I went in with 2 giant bags of clothes. When I came back I asked one girl if she worked there as I wasn't sure where to pick up my clothes once they'd been sorted. She said she didn't work there. Then I saw her behind the counter 10 mins later. Also, had I not asked for my second bag bag I wouldn't have gotten it. It seemed like it was being stashed. Then when I asked if they would donate what I didn't buy, the staff said I could go outside and drop it off in a donation bin down the sidewalk. I'm disappointed. The Plato's in the US have waaaaaay better customer service.

  • Myca

Its a good place to sell your gently used items. Emphasis on the gently used since they do not accept worn out items or items with slight damage. I would recommend selling stuff based on the current season and stuff that are probably "in". They sorted my stuff pretty fast, but that's cause they sent majority of my items back. Kinda surprised tbh cause the stuff they sent back was in season and barely used (blazers, formal mini dress). So going back to my previous statement about stuff that are "in", dont bring formal wear to sell here. Good place to make $ out of your stuff before donating them.

  • Sydney

Their selection for shopping is decent and reasonably priced. If you're planning to sell, don't bother. I brought in a bin and half of it was untouched and wasn't even looked at. They were all recent pieces from brands like Aritzia, Garage, Oh Polly, etc. They ended up taking 4 things out of about 40. They also sorted and helped the people that came in after me first. Total time was about 2 hours (my usual experience at other Plato's locations is only an hour). Staff here was a little bit nicer than the Mississauga location, but it's not worth coming to sell unless you have 15 items or less.

  • S G

I thought the reviews about poor customer service I saw before I went were just exaggerated. They weren’t. Unbelievably unacceptable service from this location, in particular the asian girl at the front with extra long black hair, so so rude not only to me but to other people in the store, shouting at them for touching certain areas. She tried to pick a fight with me when I was cashing out over the condition of the item I was buying and how much it would be in store, I wasn’t even arguing with her about the price. She really woke up in the wrong side of the bed. I won’t be back.

  • s s

This location has declined to a shocking degree since its feted opening in 2019. Over the last few years both the seller and shopper experience has gone downhill and I think I'm just about done here given how unpleasant it's become. The original crew that opened the store seemed to have more heart and humour compared to the retail staff working there now. Employees are standoffish and jaded with an attitude bordering on DGAF - this includes everyone from the fitting room clerk that had to be roused to attention and the buyers/cashiers who are outwardly snooty.

  • Erica Pennie

I have tried 3 times to get an item appraised. The first two times were around 2-4pm and I was told there was no one there who could do it. So today I call in and ask - yes there is someone here today. I come in at 8:01pm and I’m declined by a girl working at the front on the premise that this service stops an hour before closing. Even after hearing how annoyed I was at just having travelled all the way here for a third time A MINUTE LATER THAN A DEADLINE I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT TODAY, I was turned away. I cannot stress this enough: hire your employees better.

  • Taylor L

This Plato’s closet is the worst one in the GTA. The workers are snobby and will not accept any clothing because they’re “full”, yet their racks are full of shein and fast fashion. I brought them designer clothing that was well maintained and rarely worn and they turned all my items away because they didn’t fit their standard. Even though their website says they accept popular brands, they seem to love cheap fast fashion like princess polly and poorly made, rubbish clothing. Do not go here. Find another Plato’s closet because this one isn’t worth your time.

  • Caroline Goral

Brought lots of brand name clothes, shoes, and bags and it was taken at the counter pretty fast to be sorted. The person at the front said it will take about 40 minutes to go through it all. After coming back and waiting over an hour in total they said "We are currently overstocked with items and not taking anything at the moment". I am just confused why my items were accepted in the first place, and I was made to wait an hour if they knew they were not accepting items. My items did not even look touched and just how I brought them in earlier.

The chubby young white woman with the bleached hair and piercings at the buying table was very unprofessional. Her angry facial expression and lack of energy immediately makes you feel unwelcome to the store. It’s as though she is mad at you for coming in with a few items to sell which gives her more work to do. At one point she turned her back and ignored us, just to take sips of her drink while we waited in line for help. Customers walking in should feel valued, even just greeted with a smile. That is bare minimum. 1 star for good location.

  • Jennifer Aguiar

When I got my message saying my items were ready for pickup, I was told to wait in line where the purchases are made. Two customers were being helped at the cash and one more customer ahead of me in line. When one of the customers was checked out and left, the girls behind the counter started chit chatting instead of helping the next customer. We waited there another 5 mins until the girl who was serving her customer said can you help with the people in line. Not the greatest customer service at this location. Won’t be going back.

  • Jaiden Dalbello

Absolutely horrible experience. They wanted my Stella McCartney boots for 10 dollars. They upscale shein + fashion nova which actively harms landfills and lower income individuals. Train your staff and update your brand system, I’ve never been to a store more negligent in my whole entire life. They made me wait an hour and a half in the rain only to tell me they were overstocked. Don’t accept people’s bags if that’s the case, and don’t waste people’s time on so many levels. The owners must be incredibly corrupt.

  • Ron Vendrov

Brought a whole container worth of clothing - they took five items; 3 of which were sweaters, told me they only take seasonal items (it’s the middle of summer) and then when I asked if the girl at the counter had even bothered to look through it (most of it was as yet folded and un-sorted) she gave me a dirty look and told me she has no time to go through it. For future reference, bring in smaller boxes and and just come back 3 times in a row cause the 16 year olds there clearly don’t want to do their own jobs.

  • M M

This is definitely the most expensive Plato’s out of all the ones I’ve been too. Was genuinely shocked at prices, especially cosmetics. Used perfume going for $100 and little samples of cosmetics that are usually free or just a couple bucks going for $10+. The things here are much more curated than other location with a greater variety of nice things vs other Plato’s that are filled with forever21 and garage. I did find a few items but a lot I had to put back as I couldn’t justify the price for second hand.

  • Ring Getigan

Selection was good, their shoes weren't really in order even though the sizes wr posted the actual shoes where not in its proper location so was hard to look for shoes. Was also kind of confused about the yellow label vs white had to ask what was all about. Was kind of hoping it meant an it was discounted when actually it meant it was new stock. They could use some organizations and definitely need to work on their display and behind the counter. But I did get some amazing finds and was over happy.

  • Isabel Figueroa

second time going there an leaving with 0 offers on my 2 full bags of clothing stating there was too much wear on them and they were not in style despite bringing in name brand items, brand new clothing, etc. the staff just said “sorry we’re not taking anything because of wear and style” and then walked away. some items weren’t even unfolded so i don’t think they look through the full bag. in store there are items that are literally disgusting and should not be on the floor but ok sure.

  • Rachel

Worst customer service experience I have ever experienced. Miranda (who seemed like the “manager”) was EXTREMELY rude. Super unprofessional and it was a horrible experience and huge waste of time to be honest. They took like 2 things and cashed me out too quick and I wanted one of the items back because they were expensive barely used Columbia boots and they took them for $8 dollars LOL. And then she said I couldn’t get them back. I will never be returning.

  • Acing Packed

Very dissatisfied with customer service. Will not be coming back to the store. The staff was rude, gave me dirty looks, and loud enough for me to hear their offending comments from the back of the store. Their service is very slow, to the point that the whole team would have to decide if one item is going to sell or not. The clothes they accept are not great as well. I even saw a sickkids uniform, for some reason. Worst place to thrift, don’t go here.

  • Regi Alva

Terrible customer service! To be honest I go to Plato's for the promos but the staff is always is ZERO friendly they look like they are mad all the time. Went couple days ago to sell clothes, they clearly have a schedule until 8 pm. I was there at 7:30 pm and an Asian lady that seems to be the manager did not accept it saying that the store will be closing in 30 minutes. Communication has to be clear in your social media do not make people waste time

  • Laura Lambert

Atmosphere is nice..except employees they are not friendly plus surely, disrespectful sometimes rude owners info… I was there today i wanna see if there is any improvement of the attitudes personals I guess they recognized me the one who did bad review and they did not buy my items which most of them were Lululemon and other good brands .. Hahaha sooo loser this store and I will never go there again and do not waste your time with this loser

  • Jenna Sehlman

This location is terrible. They "lost" a huge bag of perfectly good clothing that I brought in and offered me a coupon as an apology. When the boss contacted me, he was extremely rude and condescending, essentially telling me to stop bothering him and that my clothes were going to end up in a landfill anyways. I am actually appalled by the customer service here. Do no risk losing all your belongings and then being talked down to.

  • Jessica Lovelace

I asked if I could use their washroom before trying on a bunch of clothes and the employee told me no… any establishment that denies a customer a basic human need usually gets a one star for me personally. I did still end up buying 2 things that were reasonably priced for a thrift store so I’ll leave them with a 2/5, but being denied the washroom definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and due to that I wouldn’t return there.

  • Hannah O’Brien

I had a pretty good experience here! I will admit though it was difficult to find as my Maps app brought me to a plaza across the street. The store is in fact in the Walmart plaza next to the Starbucks. The staff helped me find the location when I was lost and called them. They looked through my clothes quickly and were very kind. I recommend taking your items to sell to this location. It should be awesome once it opens!

  • Trinh Nguyen

Terrible customer service! Posting products on their website and as soon as the customer purchase something pretty or cute they do the refunds things. Then blamed on the system didn’t update it on time, which is ridiculous. They didn’t even have many post products on their website to be managed as like the other massive store at other locations. Very disappointed that I went to support this business the whole time.

  • Sara G

Idk why this place has such bad reviews, I went in to sell unfortunately they couldnt take alot because it wasnt the season which isn't the employees fault, the staff was so nice especially the girl with the glasses she even helped me pick a cute purse lol and I got a good amount of money for the little stuff they took tbh. The store was really clean and had such cute stuff for cheap. It's my fav new thrift store

  • Chantel Pereira

First time at the store and I walked out with a lot of good finds, happily spent $100. When I found out at check-out that they also buy clothes, I went home and later came back with some things I had packed away for donation. The customer service I received was really immature and I wish I could give a better review because the store is nice, but the employees are more or less rude, high school kids.

  • Christian Sharda

My sister and I recently came here and were very pleased with the overall experience. We brought in 3 bags of clothing and it only took 20 minutes for them to appraise it. We were payed a very fair price and the staff was very friendly. I would 100% recommend to anyone to bring your clothes to this Plato's Closet location! I for one will be coming back very shortly with more of my clothes :)

  • Annie Gosewich

Went in on a Thursday afternoon with one bag of clothing. When I’ve been in the past with more clothes my stuff is sorted and I get a notification within 30mins or less that my stuff is ready. I was there today and I waited for nearly an hour for one bag. When I called they couldn’t find my bag. Really not impressed considering that I only had one bag of clothing and it’s taken this long

  • Shane Veillette

Some of the items were dirty and still being sold for a premium which is why I couldnt give it 5 stars just yet as well the mens section was extremely low. ( not their fault however staff was great and I believe they are an extremely busy location which is why the mens section was low and in my opinion the prices were a little high but you look hard and you will find a gem or 2!

  • Wendy Vu

The entire place is so disorganized in terms of sizing. It's all over the place. The staffs weren't as nice either. I was sitting by the change room and the one guy was literally slamming the clothes and hangers onto the metal table. The sound was so discomforting and just rude. Customer service here is terrible. Probably the worst location in Toronto and I'm not coming back.

  • G A

I went out of my way to visit store specially looking for pants. I found a pair but then one of the girls loudly said ‘ you cannot shop from there, it’s for an event’ I turned around and said there are four I want just one she started to look at her phone while saying ‘no you can’t shop from there’ A purchase is a sell when you close cash at nigh; bad experience

  • Nicole Griesman

Horrible experience. They took my Kate Spade bag for 10 dollars. I went in with 4 bins of amazing stuff, and they took 5 items and it took them 5 hours. One of the bins I don’t even think they looked through, it was still sealed shut and had 5 pairs of Levi jeans and Tory Burch boots. I like Plato’s closet but this one was just horrible, staff were rude too.

  • Christopher Daniel

Great second hand store. Selection is much much better than value village though the prices are also higher. Still much cheaper than buying the same brands in another store though. Almost no dedicated 'Kids' clothing section. My teenage daughter was very happy to find clothes she liked that didn't break the budget I gave her. Definitely coming back.

  • Jennifer Ly

I brought some clothing here to sell and the only thing that they decided to choose is the grey coat for $9 but none of the rest of the stuff brought in. I still love the store just wish they could take the stuff that I brought in to sell since Toronto is getting too expensive and people need money to survive. There are clothing that I really love.

  • Mandy C

I went in to sell a bag of clothes and they purchase 3 items from me. When i went home to check what they didn’t purchase I noticed a missing sweater and the only bag I went in with was not there but was also not part of the 3 items they purchased from me. Not sure what else was missing, but atleast 2 items have disappeared from what I brought in.

  • Kae L

They will always reject 98% of your clothes even if you think it’s trendy, current, or name brands (brought in a Wilfred skirt, Zara blouse, adidas sweater) and it got rejected. if they think it’s not cute or have an overstock of that style, they won’t take it be warned! Better to pass it along to non for profits for those actually in need!

  • spencer marley

I honestly don’t know why folks are leaving such poor customer service reviews, I found everyone who worked there to be super friendly and helpful. You definitely won’t make back what you paid for your clothes but that’s to be expected. Great if you wanna offload some clothes and make a couple bucks back! Will probably be back to shop :)

  • Eduard Carrera

I think the staff just don’t want to work. What a shame, such a good idea… 1 star is too much, just go to another second hand store, we came with 2 big bags of clothes and they let us waiting for 1 hour to say to come again in July, is JUNE 25, the excuse was that it’s not the season. But in 6 days is the season. June 25 3.00pm-4.30pm

  • Reyvin De Oro

My girlfriend called and asked if they accepting clothes to sell and the lady who answered the phone said, “give me one second” and we waited for five minutes. I called them and asked they still open and accepting clothes. She said they only accept till 7:30 pm, but they are closed at 08:00 pm. We waited outside for nothing. Worst!!

  • Emma Hastie

Plato's closet is generally a pretty great store but this one is especially good. Their selection is varied and inexpensive, lots of fun to go sorting through racks. I found quite a few things the last time I shopped there! I'm always impressed with my total considering the number of items I've purchased. I will definitely be back.

  • K C

Always so rude. There’s one girl who works there who I’ve come across who is nice, all the others seem like they’re angry they’re working. I just called and the attitude from the girl on the phone was appalling. Then hung up and like slammed the phone 6-7x just rude. And they never accept clothes over a size 14 EVER

  • Maddie Rogers

I like this location! The wait times for drop offs are usually fast and they take a decent amount of items I drop (I do drop a lot of Aritzia and brand name items). They also have a great selection of brand named items sectioned off so that I don’t have to dig too much to find the brands that I am looking for.

  • Saurav Sinha

Had high expectations to sell off my clothes some of them I didn’t even wore them, but they declined all the collection as if they want all high end brands. I usually go to Value Village which is always reasonable than these guys. Please donate it or go somewhere else. Garbage please ignore this place.

  • T M

Very broad selection of good quality brands and clothing. Most everything is in great condition and they are constantly restocking the racks as well as receiving new clothes. Prices are always fair and bargains are very easy to come by. Worth coming here every other week for consistently good deals.

  • Carrie Webb

If I could rate a 0 I would. Don't bring your stuff here. I had 6 pairs on new lulu leggings, MK SHOES, designer bags, Steve Madden shoes and zara three bins to revive 100. Called another location to be told I should've been paid 300. It's a scam don't go. Girl with glasses is so rude to customers

  • Annelise Vintila

They were really generous with my "Selling" items, staff was super friendly and I would definitely go back. Some other Plato's Closet stores have poor customer-service driven staff and it left a bad taste in my mouth for the company, but this location changed my perspective. Highly recommend.

  • Neilizza Silva

Great place to sell your clothes, quick and fair. Been there a couple of times to sell clothes. I don't know why some people are complaining that they can't buy the clothes when the store clearly posted they weren't selling anything yet until opening in August all over the entrance area.

  • Jackson King

I don’t understand why anyone would shop here tbh. Ok it’s a step up from value village but the prices are absurd. I saw a used adidas tshirt for 24 dollars when you could buy the exact same shirt brand new at winners for 16.99. Men’s section was lacking. Just not a place I’d go back to

  • Mandy Werner

So happy that they bought some jackets off me and I was able to make room in my closet. The blonde girl was super friendly. Great experience overall, one star less because as I was browsing I noticed the clothing was not organized by size, it was just all over the place. I will be back!

  • Mariam Merghani

My experience at this store was amazing I bought some dresses and some skirts t shirts acouple purses I bought this cute coach purse that I am obsessed with and extremely happy with and cute sneakers and pants for my job the prices are reasonable and the staff are extremely friendly.

  • Love First

All of the clothes I tried on either had stains on them, broken zippers, they were ripped. It’s like they hardly look at them before purchasing. Also, the store smells incredibly musty. Lastly, they’re not really up to do date with the fashion. Kitcheners location is 1000 X better.

  • Michael Welch

Waste of time. Clothes I brought in were in better shape and better quality than most of the clothes displayed. My Value Village has better quality. Took 1 grey sweater. Also, clothes came in all organized and folded. They gave me back a heap of unfolded clothes....not cool.

  • Upper Media

If you see the 5 stars comments, there are no likes, in the 1 stars there are like +10 likes, I won't say anything else. Horrible experience. Horrible employees. If the owner doesn't want to lose this shop, he should train the employees in order to be kind to the customers.

  • Peter C.

Went in to trade/sell a couple of my used pants. The experience was okay. The employees were helpful but customer service could use some improvements. A lot of cross conversation and i stood by the register for a couple of mins as they walked by without offering to help.

  • Cheeky Bits

They sell clothes with holes in them…. Not like fashionable, trendy holes, no no. Like moth man itself came out of a cocoon, ravenously hungry for Cotton!!! Ommm nom nom! Honestly just don’t waste your time selling or buying clothes here, neither of which they really do!

  • Catia “Catia” Bianchini

bring your gently used clothing (recent styles and brand names are top pick). go in person to make an appointment or call them. You must jave your own clean containers with your clothes inside(It will get returned once they decide the good the bad and the evil!

  • Mon Pillajo

Went there with shoes and purses but was not taken.. they were nine west shoes and othern named brand purses but...they did not took'em... the girl with brunette curley hair was so rude and looks so unhappy.... will never come back anymore …

  • Jane Megros

Always a horrible experience. Staff are SO RUDE. They're annoyed if you even ask them a question. They put stuff with holes and stains on the shelves too. Train your staff better. You can learn a thing or two from the Kitchener location!! They're amazing.

  • Ash A

One of the worst locations I have been to staff have a serious attitude problem and clothing here is Mediocre at its best very worn out and styles from years ago owner needs to hire better staff I will never return just because of the staff trashy tbh

  • Anthony Williams

Brought in 2 pairs of nikes 2 pairs of ewings and a pair of son of mars jordans all in great shape waited 30 mins which was not all that bad but just to have them say they only wanted 1 of the ewings for $4.50 was an insult to say the least.....

  • Eleni

I’ve been to this location twice to sell my clothing and had a great experience. On both occasions, they accepted all my items and paid me over $100. The staff is incredibly friendly as well. I will definitely return to sell more in the future.

  • Chantel Patricio

The staff here are professional and friendly, just sold a few items today and they were quick and efficient and stuck to all the covid protocols. I’ve been to several Plato’s locations and this one has friendly staff and a clean facility.

  • Ashley Penley

Don't bring in anything remotely valuable here . They can't afford to buy it because the customers apparently want "casual items " . You guys realize you missed out on having an $800 dress in your store and making some good profit

  • Celso Baldin

Wonderful experience, the staff was curious and efficient. I brought items to sell, they looked through them in the time frame they quoted. The store was packed with nice clothing. Good brand mix, fair prices. Go check it out.

  • Rebecca Kiriakopoulos

The girls who were working today (Nov 5) are the absolute best! The store is so clean, amazing selection, they are the most kind humans and make the process so seamless and efficient! Love this location, best in the GTA

  • Anna

Friendly staff and fast turn around on selling clothes. All my items were accepted but keep in mind that you should be selling gently worn items. Brands like aritzia sell fairly well I think.

  • Maggie Wang

I called the store and the store said they’re closing at 6pm. I arrived 4:30pm but they said they’re not taking any clothes. Bad customer service, not recommended for people to come here.

  • Joe

Super rude “manager” Ryan. Over heard him talk bad immediately after serving a customer. Extremely fake personality, and unprofessional service. I will not be returning to this location.

  • Hanna Krehling

Lots of selection but the staff need a manager as there was a lack of overall professionalism in the store and the employees were extremely slow on cash. Great deals on clothes though

  • Shawn D’Eon

I went in to browse around , the staff were beyond annoyed when I asked about selling some items. I’m not the only person based on these reviews ! Wow terrible ! …

  • Milly Minero

The place, the music it's MAKE TO BUY EVERYTHING......! I'LL BE BACK TO BUY MORE STUFF!!!!!! Thank you so much to Salesperson Ryan On Sant Clerk & Runnymede in Toronto.

  • Morgana Weber Mazzochi

Staff was not very friendly, and pretty sure didn’t look over all the clothes me and my friend left for them to select, so disappointing! First and last time there.

  • Kyky

They said they were opened for boxing day and that the store was quite live! Well, we drove in from Scarborough and the store was closed! Quite disappointing …

  • Marquel Anderson

Staff was Rude Never explained anything to me Extremely very picky with the clothes they are looking for Bad Reputation Made me waste my time and energy and money.
